Love it. I understand that some people might get fed up with Lost actors, but I am all for it. Especially as long as it is not done only so that the actors can appear! Belle was written clearly as a character before Emilie de Ravin was casted, and it appears the same goes for the Giant! Both just fitted the parts and happened to be from Lost. What I am against is deciding an actor has to be on a show and then create a character for him (cough Scott Folley on True Blood cough)
There's three lost actors on the show. The only one prior to this second upcoming season that's appeared in more than two episodes (or around that) is Alan Dale. No one is one of the MAIN characters - Belle will change that in season 2 - but she's a good choice for the role and Alan Dale has been perfect in his role.
I love the Bad Robot and the spawning of their alumni...but really when you think about, set background looks aside, the show is VERY similar in concept to both Lost and Fringe, as both are constantly referenced and all are about multiple reality, multiple identity, family/close relationships, politics and how the "unique" circumstances the characters finds themselves in shapes whom they become in relation to a fate-orientated set quantum mechanics in their universes/realities. They are all about conscience decision making/the consequences of actions.
IMO the difference really is that Once homes in a little more on families: parental expectations, quality of life, and a failure to value the wrong things in a way the other shows skim over, or tread lightly.
i still remember his guest appearance on HIMYM and it was HILARIOUS having him in OUaT is gonna be AWSOME i wish we get to see him for more than just 1 episode :) he makes good tv. period.
Ahah i see the irony there. But it is different when that is done at the beggining of the show you know. A lot of characters are added to the pilots of shows because producers are impressed with the actor's auditions but they dont fit the parts they were auditoning for. At that point, they are still changing the concept of the show so they can make it organic! When you have a character like the one Scot Folley was playing on True Blood, for instance, that is not the case. He is there only so that the actor can be there. It's quite different! (This being said, I would actually take my Losties back to my screen any way I can, but for Once Upon a Time's sake, I would much rather prefer the organic way)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGreat casting choice in my opinion - you have to look beyond the "Lost" factor and see how he'd do the role well.
ReplyDeleteLOL! That would be SO funny! I hope he says, "dude" at least once!
