Well thats what makes me both worried and hopeful.
Hopeful because Abrams, who tends to bring unique ideas that are enjoyable for a long time and worried because Kripke, who tends to bring a lot of misogyny and lose the plot completely around the third season :)
Ive seen the pilot of this when i was at comic con and it is really good, i defitnally recommend everyone to sit down and watch it!! becuase it is really good and excellently written although i am worried that it may go in the direction of perhaps Flashforward did and just lose itself. becuase it started out really good, but i guess only time will tell if it does, but it will actually be a shame if that happens because this does have so much promise of being an excellent show on tv this fall. but like i said thats if it doesnt get caught up in itself and just fail
You should try it. If you have Netflix streaming, all seasons except the last are available. We are getting a lot of new people trying it that way. Although Borednow is vocally critical about Kripke in every Revolution post, for the most part he is revered by the Supernatural community and should bring the Supernatural fans at least into the pilot. Hopefully the pilot will make them stay. I too am looking forward to Revolution the most this season and I hope it gets the ratings needed to stick around.
Basically if you enjoy female characters - avoid Kripke's works.
Because most of them WILL end up dead or evil or both.
Supernatural, while it was quite great for first three seasons(third is the best), afterward completely went off the rails into ridiculous land of misogyny and nonsensical plotlines. By now its about two muscular sweaty guys righteously killing monsters and women and like broken record repeating the same story arc ideas of "how their life sucks"(literally the phrase).
If you want to like that show. Just get the first three seasons and pretend the show ended then. :)
My country doesn't have Netflix streaming, or any kind of streaming services actually. :(
The only way to watch would be to buy the dvd's, which I rarely see in stores here. Which is because it isn't broadcast here, therefore the dvd's also won't be sold.So that or obtain it online somehow.
That actually sounds pretty harsh! From what I've heard from critics is that they liked season 4 and 5 best.
I haven't seen it, but if what you say is true that is really too bad. I'm a bit skeptical here for a reason. As your commentary on OUAT is in my mind, where you have liked the writing and characters on that show on several occasions while I have not.
So I guess the only way for me to know is to watch the show, now if only the dvd's were obtainable.
I haven't watched very much of it myself, but I really don't think it's fair to hold Kripke accountable for the entirety of the series. I think it's his first work, he was working with other executive producers, and I think the CW has a certain criteria that may have limited his creativity in that they tend to be lower budgets and geared towards teens and very young adults.
That's certainly true, networks tend to meddle. Certainly the CW from what I've heard. So I agree there is a multitude of factors which could have caused Supernatural to take a turn for the worst. But again, I haven't actually seen it, but from the reviews I read they liked season 4 and 5 alot. So I don't know.
And in that regard it also isn't totally fair to have faith in a show because it has such a huge pedigree in Abrams and Kripke. Look at Terra Nova, which turned out terrible even with all it's potential.
But the overall feel of Revolution makes me look forward to it and be hopeful. Only time will tell if that is justified. :)
Do you really want spoiling or do you want to wait and see yourself what happens and then form your own opinions and judgements on it. i dont want to give any spoilers away incase people really dont want spoiling. then again if there on here perhaps they do... haha
It's spoilertv for a reason! ;) I had most of Lost spoiled for me, it added in the excitement. For me that is, I can't speak for others.
But seriously, perhaps you should consider sending in a recap to Spoilertv. That way people can choose whether or not to read it. Or you can just leave it at this. In no way are you required to sent in a recap, I'm just that addicted to spoilers. :P
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Wish it was a little longer, but still exciting!
ReplyDeleteI will give this show a try, not sure yet if it looks good or if it's going to be the next Flash Forward or Event...
ReplyDeleteLooks good! One of the shows I anticipate most this season! :)
ReplyDeleteWell with Kripke and Abrams, it already has a lot bigger pedigree than either of those shows. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are right :)
ReplyDeletecertainly giving it a try :D
ReplyDeleteThere's another one I like more that features an voice over from Charlie, "When the world lost power, I found mine." -But still really excited.

ReplyDeleteDo share! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat makes two of us. ;)
ReplyDeleteHonestly I'm not familiar with Kripke's work, just heard a lot of good things about him. Never watched supernatural which I shame on me I guess. :P
ReplyDeleteSpoil us! :P
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by this show, so I'm hoping it'll be good and not another 'The Event'.
ReplyDeleteThis is the new show I am most looking forward to and the one I most fear will be canceled early.

That's a shame. May I ask what country you live in?
ReplyDeleteSure! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's a little more hyped up!

ReplyDeleteOf course, I live in the Netherlands. Which has no streaming services available at all. We have online websites but those only air reruns for a fee.
ReplyDeleteThere has been talk about Netflix coming here, but I haven't heard anything new about since january. :(

Hey Karen Slinger if you wanted to write a review or some bullet point teasers/spoilers we'd love to post them here on the site.
