yeah, political animals seems out of place in relation to other usa network shows. I am mostly a lover of all things usa network with many of my favourite shows on the tv channel: monk, psych, white collar, royal pains, necessary roughness, fairly legal, common law, suits... political animals doesn't fit on usa network but rather on hbo or showtime...
For Continuum fans you can watch Playtime now on Showcase's website now. I just found it by mistake. I missed the last two episodes and was trying to catch up on them and when I clicked to watch Politics in Time I got Playtime instead. ROFL! Playtime is awesome! :D
I will watched the next day because I want to know the winner of two categories in one jensen and jared ,for supernatural, the two guys of vampire and the fringe hot guy and the other figures ian I hope he wins and other four guys the rest is really teens stuff.
Leverage - it's the Eliot-centric hockey episode so I'm really excited. Generally the ones that are Eliot-centric are my favorite. I have been hearing great things about Political Animals from people I trust (I tend not to trust critics.) so I might try to watch the pilot of that too. It's not my usual kind of TV so the pilot will determine whether I watch any more of it.
Leverage! I DVR TrueBlood, Weeds, Glades, Breaking Bad, Falling Skies, and Newsroom, but Leverage is the only show I watch live (and DVR for later viewing)
Perhaps some people like it and want to get the news first hand instead of waiting. I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of that awards program in my life but I don't begrudge the people who do. To be honest, it can't be more annoying than the People's Choice Award with its endless product placement & commercials or more boring than the Emmy's/Oscar's where you wait 10 minutes to hear a 3 second announcement followed up usually by a boring speech and 15 commercials.
I'm not begrudging anyone, yet I don't get why people that zero talent win. That's just strikes me as odd. I don't care who watches the show, I'm not stopping anyone that does. It's just stupid that they give awards to people who have no talent, whereas there are ones that have talent that should win and don't. That's just my point... It has nothing to do with who watches it. I just find those shows pathetic.
You might find it pathetic but there are thousands of teens who voted in this contest and have a vested interest in seeing whether that voting paid off. It is after all a popularity contest. I can honestly say that I don't know the title of a Justin Bieber song (and please do not enlighten me) and I don't know a quarter of the people who were nominated. I'm not their demographic since I haven't been in my teens since the early 90's and they rightly don't cater their show to me.
However I hope Nelly and all the other who watched it had a great time and I don't think they need to justify why they are watching. As a middle school teacher for most my career, I like the idea of a teens only awards contest. It's not like the major awards shows are going to give them a voice or appreciate their likes and dislikes. The Emmy's/Oscar's don't represent my tastes much less the majority of middle and high school students. I think it's a fun way for them to celebrate their unique culture and what matters to them and even to feel a little empowered.
After all, when I was a teenager I liked a whole lot of stuff I'm not so crazy about now but that didn't make me any less passionate about it. Surely their tastes aren't any worse than New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys and NSync, etc. were. No matter how many people were saying everyone in my generation was a bunch of no talent hacks back in the day, I know several 80's and 90's "no talent" kids who are doing quite well for themselves today. In all honesty I might find some people highly talented whom you don't and vice versa. So whoever you are One Direction, may someone in your group have the success of Madonna or Justin Timberlake.
I wouldn't know anything about Bieber's annoying songs. I'm not a teenager or would ever listen to his computerized music. Music today is just noise, I was a teenager nine years ago, still didn't listen to the music that they had out back then.. I prefer listening to oldies, but what is sad is that today anyone who has zero talent can be a pop star. Whereas back then, people with real talent were allowed.... Just think there needs to be real talent not a bunch of people lipsyncing while dancing around on stage. I get your point, I just don't think kids today realize that what they listen to is just a bunch of overlycomputerized music. Who can even make out what the lyrics are, lyrics are supposed to tell a story. Not all music is meant to dance to . Like I said,I'm not stopping anyone from watching this. This is just my own opinion, no offense to anyone else. I never intending this to offend anyone. Just my little rant, I'll shut up now..
I listened to oldies in high school and college too. It made me quite odd. I just couldn't stand most of the grunge movement. I'm not disagreeing with you about most of what you are saying, In fact I wouldn't have commented at all if you had posted this as an original thread instead of as a reply to Nelly. I'm glad you have a strong opinion and I certainly respect what you are saying about music being too computerized these days for my tastes.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
