  10. Burn Notice. This season has been great so far. Good momentum, more personal drama than ever (and not in an emoangsting way). Lots to love on this show.

  12. Agreed. I actively disliked much of the previous season. This has been much, much better so far.

  13. Last season was their worst. Ploddingly slow, stilted, less interesting cases of the week, with yet another mind games villain. I'm so glad this season is going the way it is.

  14. Again, 100% total agreement. It's like night and day. I especially like Fiona's prison storyline and the fact that the show is no longer trying to find awkward ways to shoehorn Jesse into the show's weekly plots. They've started ignoring his "other job" and made him a full-fledged part of the team, complete with his own space in the title sequence. It should have been done last season.

  15. Originally I was nervous about the Fiona is prison storyline but it has been done exceptionally well. By giving us a legitimate reason to separate Michael and Fiona physically it has allowed us a chance to delve into each character more. We've seen more emotional depth to Michael in 3 episodes than we did in 3 years. However what I really like is how we can see Fi using her head to get out of danger. Usually Michael is the cool logical one and Fi is flying off the handle. This season things are reversed and it has been compelling - a jump start of fresh storytelling that I'm really excited about.

As for Jesse, I think his character has improved each year. I was less concerned about the flaws with how his character was placed last year but that may be because I had so many things I was disappointed with. I do like how they made Jesse the essential player in the case while Michael was "stuck in the van" for all intents and purposes. It gave Jesse a chance to show what he could so and not always be stuck in the shadows. That episode worked particularly well for me because of it. I also like how they gave Maddy a bit more initiative also in the last show. For one of the first times ever, I was nervous for her when she went to that guy's house. It seems like everyone is more involved in the "team" of Burn Notice this year and it's really working.

I am nervous about how the big event changes things but overall Matt Nix has restored my faith in this show. I do wish that Sam had a meaty plot right now but it's still early. If the promo pictures are anything to judge by, it looks like a major Sam episode is coming up.
