When I watch a show about a con, I at least want it to be believable, this was stupid from start to finish. I have loved Leverage, what happened to the good cons they used to have.
I don't have a clue what they were talking about, but hopefully it will be more interesting than this ep. That last few seconds was the best part of the whole 40+ minutes.
Well, they film in Portland, so I'm guessing that was a factor in the choice. Portland looks nothing like LA, a little like Boston, but a LOT like Portland.
Really enjoyed it. The episode had loads of fun moments, with Hardison and Eliot arguing over the beer and the menu being particular favorites. Parts of the case -- particularly the faked flight -- were not among the show's most believable moments, but I enjoyed it all too much to really care. Fantastic having Cary Elwes guest star, too! His presence was another definite highlight.
Fun little ep and nice tidbits here and there, but this case/con otw required way too much of a suspension of disbelief as it was almost too corny. But nice to see the further development of a new town, new relationship statuses, and the very mysterious conversation between Nate/Hardison at the end which will set up the rest of the season.
I didn't care too much for the ep. It wasn't bad or anything but the plot didn't grab me. I'm not digging the Parker/Hardison thing(eww). And the bit at the end... doesn't Hardison have enough going on with his relationship with Parker? They need to give Eliot a good story for a change, like something where they reveal what he did while working for Moreau that was so bad.
Yeah, lets completely disregard every good con they did BEFORE this episode simply because it didn't meet your expectations.
I think after the very serious last couple of episodes during the previous season, they wanted to start off with an episode that shouldn't be taken seriously at all. Last season had some pretty fun cons, so I don't know what you're complaining about.
Very excited about having my favorite trio on screen again. Love Parker and Hardison dating. Love Eliot talking cuisine. And my didn't Hardison show his brilliance during this episode.
The ending was a puzzle though. Perhaps because I was zonked when watched. I thought they were implying that Nate was dying. A Twitter buddy thought Nate was buying the restaurant. I don't see them killing off Nate so I obviously need to rewatch. Perhaps when I'm not yawning.
I'll suspend belief more for this show than any other. Not sure why. Perhaps because it is a lot of fun and they have the quirkiest lovable characters this side of Mozzie.
I love Parker and Hardison so I can't agree with you there, but I would like to see some strong Eliot episodes right off the bat. The Eliot-centric episodes tend to be my favorite whether or not he's my current favorite character. After tonight, Hardison is my favorite character. It changes weekly though so it's likely to be Eliot or Parker next week.
Don't think I said anything about disregarding the "good cons" but this one was not even close to be a good one. If a con is not believable then it will not sell. This was my opinion, I can have one, if that is OK with you.
Actually your exact words were "I have loved Leverage, what happened to the good cons they used to have."
So either you're jumping the gun, judging past episodes from one episode you didn't like, or you have a long enough list of bad episodes in a row to be able to justify such a response. In regards to that, I think my comment made a whole lot of sense.
And yes you're allowed to have your opinion. I never said you couldn't. However, I'm also allowed to have a counter-opinion, so playing the "It's my opinion" card defensively here is kinda pointless.
Sorry, did not mean to be defensive, just clarifying what I meant, and I do think the last few eps have been very bad cons. They are only going to get a couple more for me to hang around.
As much as they've tried to push it, I've always gotten more of a sibling vibe between those two. Plus, they are just painfully boring and predictable. Eliot and Parker on the other hand have always stuck me as a being a good match for each other. His down to earth manner balances out her craziness and her craziness makes him more of a fun person.
hello my lost friend i think you are little of about leverege is a combination of people united to make a con in white only one could make it he had all the combine techniques except one hit or using guns to harm people NEAL never do that both series are awesome in his respective areas and very fun to watch
The thing I always liked about Leverage was the con, but the last few just have not worked. If the writers can't fool the viewer, then they just don't work and IMHO this last one was so lame. The best con I have ever watched was The Sting an old movie with Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
In all fairness, this week's White Collar was the height of unbelievable cons. Not that I didn't enjoy it because I thoroughly did. It's just that during the whole thing my mind was also going, "Yeah right. Like that would work."
I'm the complete opposite, I think the Eliot/Parker relationship is basically a sibling relationship (the poking, the annoying, the name calling etc, plus how Eliot can stop her annoying him by raising his voice...). I don't ship, never have, but I have been looking forward to Parker/Hardison, as they amuse me together, plus they've had some real development.
I too get the older brother/little sister vibe with Eliot and Parker. I'm a sucker for siblings on TV so I like when we get Eliot and Parker scenes. I'd add that Parker goes to Eliot for advice a lot, especially know that she wants to be a "real" girl.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved it! Yay for Parker and Hardison dating. LOL at them opening a restaurant. I've missed this show so much and I'm thrilled it's back.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy! It was so great! AND THEN THE LAST 60 SECONDS HAPPENED AND KNOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ANYMOREEEEE *LECREYSSSSS*
ReplyDeletePortland, OR?
ReplyDeleteThey moved to Portland, OR?
First L.A., then Boston, now Portland?
Why not move to Chicago?

ReplyDeleteWhat was Hardison and Nate talking about at the end? What secret? Any guess?

Out of curiosity, what exactly is "eww" about something that has been so plainly building up since the pilot?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was thrown by the last minute.

ReplyDeleteawesome ep...the season long thingie they set up with that final scene better NOT be a downer when we find out what it is.

ReplyDeleteHey, u are here!
ReplyDeleteI was complaining about how bad the con was, if you want to see a good one, watch White Collar. They know how to make a con work. lol
ReplyDeletehello my lost friend i think you are little of about leverege is a combination of people united to make a con in white only one could make it he had all the combine techniques except one hit or using guns to harm people NEAL never do that both series are awesome in his respective areas and very fun to watch

ReplyDeleteWell I think the pilot episode took place in Chicago... So technically they have done Chicago.
ReplyDeleteIm so happy that this show is back!!! I've missed it =]
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if this is the last season? I feel like I heard that somewhere but I could be wrong... Im really hoping Im wrong.

ReplyDeleteThat's exactly it. I also am a sucker for those sort of relationships. Like Nate/Eliot, Nate/Hardison and Sophie/Parker.
