Once Upon a Time - Season 2 - Role of Jack being cast

Thanks to The Spoiler Fairy for sending us the following..

Spoiler Fairy's speculation: I wonder if he's the Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk. There are lots of Jacks in fairytales, so who knows - maybe all the Jacks will turn out to be the same person!

For Once Upon a Time, the role of [JACK] is being cast (as a "guest role with option"). He's in his 20s or 30s, charismatic, sexy and mysterious, but also loyal and kind, and he's running from his past in a land full of danger.

  1. Somehoe, I see this as a perfect role for Ian Somerhalder.

  2. Spoiler Fairy,in one of the pictures from Comic Con they had a plant growing and by the looks of it it was a bean stalk, looks exactly like the bean stalk in the fairy tail.

    But who??

  3. Isn't he on TVD's ?

  4. Is there a website that publishes casting notices?

They have already mentioned that Jack and the bean stock will be in this coming season. I think it was at comiccon but I honestly can't remember

  8. I was thinking Zach Gilford. He needs to have that gullible look. (Okay, there's a reason I'm not a casting agent.)

  9. Ya he is, but that would be a great cast!

  10. Yeah I believe so, and I am pretty sure there's a beanstalk in one of the title cards they screened too!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Showfax is also one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  12. No, he is not because they are actually looking for someone to play him. If Dr. Whale was Jack, there is no need for a casting call.

  13. Could he be Bae? (He did have a magic bean when last we saw him...)

  14. Perhaps it's to throw the fans off!

Oh who am I kidding, you're probably right. ;)

  15. That's right i forgot!!!! Oh now i'm going to go crazy wondering who it is,yikes and we have what another 2 months....oh no! :)

He used the magic bean to get to our world and it was the last the blue fairy had. So probably jack had one too but it would have to of been before. Maybe Jack is Henry's dad and he was in our world before? Hmmm... I love this show!

  23. My guess is that he may be Jonah of "Jonah and the Fish" (or some times Jonah and the Whale)...IMO there's some Judeo-Christian themes woven in and Dr. Whale happens to be a doctor, which is a modern day "healer" .

BUT ---going with what you said, Jonah is a variation of John and so is JACK...and Jack in LOST (also going with Biblical themes) was also a doctor, a type of healer or savior! -So you could be VERY right!

  24. This prompt me to go to wikipedia to see the history behind Jack in the beanstalk and guess what I found!?!

The beanstalk is reminiscent of the ancient Northern European belief in a world tree connecting Earth to heaven. A late addition to the medieval catalog of Aesop's Fables of putative Persian origins The Gourd and the Palm-tree uses the emblamatic trope of a fast-growing gourd vine sprouted from seed that outgrows an older mature tree yet perishes in the frost to instruct on the folly of intemperance. The biblical tale of Jonah closes rather abruptly with the hero resting under a fast growing gourd, Hebrew קיקיון (qiyqayown), the only time in Scripture so mentioned. While scholars place the historical events in the 8th century BCE they were not recorded by Hebrew scribes until some centuries later. In his Latin Vulgate, St. Jerome refers to the Old Testament prophet's encounter with the fast growing vine as "hedera" (in English, ivy) a choice St. Augustine rejected, preferring the commonly known vegetable known as cucurbita in Latin from which the English cucumber is derived. During the Renaissance, the humanist artist Durer memorialized Jerome's courage to dissent in his famous woodcut Saint Jerome in His Study (Dürer) featuring a dried gourd hanging from the rafters. Possible confusion with the didactic of fable may have motivated use of clearer analogy for the type of Christ "I am the Vine you are the branches" already contained in the miraculous whale tale. The escatological admonition to Nineva contained in the Book of Jonah bears certain resemblances to the moral of the demise of the ogre (not explicitly justified as evil in the original text, see Controversies below, but simply overweaningly powerful and ugly). However the tale's profane dualism is reversed in sacred scripture's salvation of the errant inhabitants of Ninevah, opening a present beset by difficulties to the transcendent hope in Divine Providence.

  26. Oh, God. I think we're going into phase two!

  27. Spoiler Fairy, it most likely is Jack from Jack & the Beanstalk. OUAT added the beanstalk as a new title sequence to this S1 OUAT title sequence montage:

Is the show on hiatus? Was there a cliffhanger with him involved,or just wishful thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lol,i swear you never fail to crack me up and put me in a good mood! Glad your back, but don't tell anyone! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yep, its most likely Jack from Jack and Beanstalk. I doubt they would add two jacks in the same season and considering we know there will be Jack And Beanstalk storyline...

Anyway, color me intrigues. This show continues to excite and the wait continues to be painful.

  32. I forgot too! Thanks! (:

  42. Absolutely. I keep waiting for Anders to get a regular gig on a show I watch. He's always just guesting though.

  50. Hahaha! I like Graham, but I got to say my heart skips a beat for some of the other crazy guys!

Hey, we have magic back, and they went out of their way to include him and say, "mending over a broken heart", so who knows with magic what the statue of limitations of Resurrection are! There might be ways for spells to be undone, or for people's lives to be restored, or spirits to astral project!

  51. That's right he did say that ! I hope they can work him in some way,be good for Emma too!

I'm getting so excited for the new season to start,as the days pass it seems to get longer, even though i know better!

  52. All of the TV journos who I follow on Twitter and were there pointed this out in their articles on the panel. Not sure if the panelists said anything but the title card is obviously Jack and the Beanstalk :)

    ReplyDelete
