They did reveal a few characters who will be making their debuts in Season 2: Ariel from The Little Mermaid, as well as Aladdin and Jafar, the Royal Vizier of Agrabah, from Aladdin. Kitsis suggests Naveen Andrews (Lost's Sayid) as Jafar, and with her ruby red locks, don't you think Rebecca Mader (Charlotte) would rock a set of seashells under the sea as Ariel?

I would love if Jorge guest starred!
ReplyDeleteThis could wind of being a LOST reunion,Jorge, Naveen, and Recbecca..LOVE IT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou forgot Emilie!
ReplyDeleteI sure did,thanks!
ReplyDeleteHeck ya! Greyson Holt (Alcatraz) is already a minor character! --I personally think Sarah Jones should land here!
ReplyDeleteI think Andrews should def be Aladdin or Jafar, but I don't think Mader should be Ariel, I would much rather see her as someone else...like pippy longstocking or Glinda the good witch of the North (should we get to Oz)
But I really think Leaonard Nimoy should make an appearance...and now I bring that little Fringe -Once Upon a Time related scene...
In an alternate universe where William Bell has recently passed on, Walter Bishop and Nina Sharp take a little trip down memory lane to commemorate whom William Bell really was...
After several hours of searching and going through personal belongings at Massive Dynamic, three Observers (September, December, and July) appear.,,
December: We have what you seek. (Holds up a VHS Tape)
September: This is what he wanted to be, but couldn't.
September takes tape from December and holds it out to Walter. Walter takes the tape which reads, "Once Upon A Time Audition Tape")
December: The truth will come out. It always does. (they disappear)
Nina: Walter, what do you think this means?!
Walter: It's Belly's road not taken! -We must watch it as soon as possible!
Nina: But we don't have a VHS player here, Walter!
Walter: I do, -back at the lab!
In the small quiet dark room in Walter's lab Nina and Walter have prepared the the TV and VCR. Walter puts the tape in and retreats to a pair of beani chairs...
The film begins to play. A stage...with dreadful cartoon-looking cut outs of a small French town. Disney's Beauty and the Beast Audio track begins to play....
There goes the baker with his tray like always. The same old bread and rolls to sell.
Every morning just the same since the morning that we came,
To this poor provincial town.
[Baker]
Good Morning Belle!
William Bell appears in wig and a blue dress. He begins to sing!
William Bell: G'morning Monsieur!...*The book shop*...I just finished the most wonderful story, About a beanstalk and an ogre and an..
Nina gives face palm, while Walter gets the just of song, stands up, becomes animate, raises his arms to conduct in crescendo, and chimes right in! ...
Walter: She really is a funny girl, a beauty, but a funny girl. She really is a funny girl! That BELL!!!!!!!!!!!
HA! I love this story! Bravo DarthLock4!!!
ReplyDeleteI could definitely see Mr. Nimoy in Once...
I was saying yesterday that Jorge should be The Hunchback of Notre Dame. ;) And Josh Holloway should be Robin Hood! :D
ReplyDeleteThey really need to avoid making OUAT feel like Lost 2.0.
ReplyDeleteNot that seeing some of these actors together again wouldn't be cool but Lost is over and I don't want OUAT to become a place for Lost fans to get a fix. And I was a huge fan of the show but this isn't LOST!!
ReplyDeletePerhaps he can play aladdin's iago ;P
ReplyDeleteI think that's up for debate since 1 K and H were with Abrams not just with LOST, but also pre-Bad Robot on Felicity, and they go way out of their way to reference LOST and FRINGE, in which both shows have many cultural references, which Once does just by being a show that explores the originals of stories, as many stories are a reflection of cultural identity, let alone they re-reference the same literature (Biblical: Sheppard- David/James...snow white or MARY M. = classic biblical MOTHER figure who magically has the savior.. (Snow White = Grim Bros = Judo-Christian fable), Heart of Darkness, Alice in Wonderland, speculation: Dr. Whale = Jonah and the Whale = FISH/JESUS: Doctor= Healer, Emma = "Savior", ect, ect)
ReplyDeleteSimilar themes: Reincarnation-counterparts, multiple universe, man in the wilderness, man and technology/power/control, Dyspepsian-like concepts (changing the reality drastically), Multi-Cultural Ethics, humanism, Parental relationships-in contrast to the mechanics of the reality, empiricism (the experience of being human) is highlighted as both good and bad characters are complicated and most are neither solidly good or evil, ect
Lost Parallels or Juxtapositions:
David saving Mary Margaret from falling over a cliff = John saving Jack from falling over a cliff (White Rabbit aka Alice in Wonderland reference)
catching Pigeons/freeing Pigeons - Charlie/Claire (Par Avon) = Mary Margeret/DavidJames Sawyer Ford was a character who starts out dark and becomes light is opposite to Dreamy becoming Grumpy (both are locked up in prisons, say SOB, and in one scene where Grumpy is locked in the castle and is freed, a large vase of SUN FLOWERS sit on a table as they pass by = Suliette/"Le Fluer" )Magical Purple Smoke = Smoke Monster8:15 = 8:15/7:15
LOST names: Regina, Emma, David, Henry,
Fringe Parallels:Jefferson jumps out the window and disappears (Hat Trick) = Olivia Dunham Pushed out the Window and disappears (Momentum Defered) -Is also reminscent of John Locke being pushed out the window by Anthony Cooper...(Jefferson = Alice wonderland reference = Fringe Olivia Dunham season 2 promo art motif and reference with season 4 episode and Violet Sedan Chair's "She's Doing Fine")
Astrid/Nova is a nun/fairy in Once. In Fringe Astrid Farnsworth is associated with Christian theology/moral ethics, death, creationsim ("Making Angels").Additionally Waltr Bishop tends to call Astrid other names that deal with cosmic/space phenomena such as "Asteroid" or "Astral" ..In Once Astrid's other name is "Nova", which is related to a "star". Astrid is also Norse that means "fair beautiful Goddess"
Fringe names: Peter, Astrid, Walter In Once Walter = "Sleepy" and in FRINGE psychedelic drugs/dream states/collective conscience are thematic and thus can be associated with 'sleep' = "sometimes you wake up what can't be put back to sleep.")
There's a few of BR alumni too (Jennifer Morison-Star Trek, Lana Parilila-Lost, Emilie de Raven-Lost, David Anders-Alias, Amy Acker- Alias/Person of Interest, 2 children who play Hansel and Gretel are the two kids who play young Olivia and Peter in "Subject 13")
Lana Parilla's character Greta was featured in the Lost Dharma station "The Looking Glass" (a reference to Alice in Wonderland and 'the white rabbit'), and Regina/Evil Queen is associated with the Mad Hatter and Wonderland. --additionally Greta is a variation of Margaret (meaning "pearl"), which is ironic considering her rival goes by Mary (biblical) Margret.
I think they have more in common than one might think they have...
That would be GREAT (although a part of me wants a female Robin Hood!)
ReplyDeleteI don't usually like this type of casting. I'd much rather OUAT go after an actor or actress who is right for a part that they're adding to the show instead of shoehorning a part into the show for a person they happen to like.
ReplyDeleteWell I am hopeful they have a specific role in mind, because Garcia is really great at being balanced both comically and emotionally. If it would be a show that didn't get into complexity of these story characters, I would agree with you, but I feel in this case it wouldn't hurt the show any.
ReplyDeleteThe way that the article is worded ("they're hoping to find a part for Jorge Garcia") doesn't make it seem like they have a part in mind. This show already has enough characters who will be struggling to find screen time. I guess I don't appreciate taking more of that screen time away just so the producers can indulge their personal whims.
ReplyDeleteYa...I see what you mean.
ReplyDeleteAnother Lostie? NO, thanks.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. This show should be it's own thing, not a vacation spot for Lost graduates.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! He'll be great!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will be exactly the same because I think the characters aren't quite as 'lost', there's more ability for anyone of the characters to have power plays IMO. -I don't think Once is focusing on existentialism as much either, but rather a little bit more about becoming a parent in contrast to finding one's place in the world.
ReplyDeleteI think Rebecca Mader as Ariel would work.
