MOVIES: Jurassic Park 4 - "Will be on the screen within two years"

Jul 23, 2012

During Steve’s interview with Marshall, he asked the producer for a status update on Jurassic Park 4, to which Marshall replied:

“I would say that it will be on the screen within two years.”

Marshall went on to reveal that they’re aiming for a summer release since it’s a “popcorn movie,” and confirmed that it’s definitely a sequel and not a reboot or remake. Spielberg confirmed earlier this year that he won’t be directing Jurassic Park 4, but he’s clearly heavily involved in the development of the film. Marshall cited the advances in visual effects as one of the exciting things to look forward to in JP4:

“That’s what’s gonna be great about it, technology’s taken a leap now that we can really do some great things”

  2. Do we really need another one? I mean, it should have ended with the first movie. By the way, I just saw the first one again and it has not aged well...

  3. Really? I still think the first one is awesome. And I love the second one (minus the whole San Diego part) and I like the third one, tbh.

  4. May I suggest "Jurassic Park 4: Jurassic Franchise" as a working title?

  5. I realize that by J3 people haven't been very fond of the series, but I watched all of them as a child and they still resonate on a certain level for me... I am kinda excited about this. :)

  6. The first one is one of my favourite blockbusters but damn the franchise has been downhill ever since.

  7. Be careful what you wish for. A lot of people had similar comments right before the second Star Wars trilogy. We all know how those turned out. :)

  8. Aw, I was hoping it would be a reboot so that the series could get some new life.

  9. I really want this to be good, but there are a few storylines of the novels out there (the virus, etc.) to make a good movie out of it and the current screenwriters are really promising.

  12. I really felt after the third one they'd pretty much buried a good idea and a good first novel. Come up with a new idea--there's got to be something interesting you can do with dinosaurs if you put your mind to it.

  13. I don't know, it seems like too little too late after this much time. Then again, Hollywood loves it's sequels and reboots these days.

  14. It's a movie that has some pretty hardcore fans (me!). It's like when you're a kid and you could watch the same movie 100 times over so when 2 and 3 come out you don't care. It's the characters you love and are crazy about. Jurassic Park is that movie for me. It came out when I was 12 and I literally counted that year and saw it 88 times (that was my favourite number). I was a super JP nerd. Dinosaurs eating people and destroying things will never get old to me. Plus, my 6 year old who is a super girly girl loves them too :)

  15. I enjoyed those movies too. I was only 9 when Phantom of Menace came out. I still enjoy parts of the newer movies (mostly the politics and Natalie Portman) but you are right.
