This better not be because of Syfy.
ReplyDeleteSell outs.
ReplyDeleteThis is so upsetting. I'm hoping they made a typo, and meant 2012.
ReplyDeleteAre we talking, like, January 2013? Or December 2013? Please be January....
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Lost Girl, welcome Bo with the wolf and sweeps bimbos.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see it at the latest October, buth this is bad really bad.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't. They are waiting for Syfy to catch up so the show airs in "sync" next season.
ReplyDeleteGetting the world on the same page means better ratings and more money for everyone. I can't fault a good business decision that might stave of cancellation down the line.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty much the same hiatus length we are going to get after 13-episode season. So probably need to get used to it.
January... I just checked.
ReplyDeleteWait, ignore this comment. I just checked back and they meant the BEGINNING of 2013. That isn't as bad as I thought they meant.
ReplyDeleteWe all know the American dollar makes every show better. Syfy would never have made a show like this, they'll water it down to suit their mealy mouthed market and what was good about it will be lost.
ReplyDeleteThat's not necessary. There is nothing to support that SyFy (Aus, US, UK) has altered the storylines or tone of the product Prodigy puts out. If anything Showcase watered down Lost Girl much more than SyFy ever could. The biggest difference in the show has been from pilot to series and you can't blame SyFy for that.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot of spoiling and rude comments on US boards because we are behind Canada. Getting everybody together makes it better for all the fans. Canadians stop yelling that we are behind and US stops being frustrated at either finding stuff out before we want to or at being constantly told its a Canadian show and we aren't even on the same season as the rest of the world. In a few months, everybody is happy moving forward.
Excuse me. When has an US show put back it's time slot for anyone else. This is just US$ imperialism. US viewers couldn't believe anyone else saw something first .... they've been bemoaning the fact as if it's such a cheek that they're so far behind.
ReplyDeleteUS viewers will get a few months break in their viewing, everyone else nine months to a year and these territories were those that's fanbases promoted the show. Syfy could have doubled up on episodes for the last few to catch up but On No, everyone has to march to their drum.
And as for spoilers, it's just the same, no US forum pussyfoots around for other countries weeks, months behind, it's pure hypocrisy to think that everyone should be so precious towards their viewing delay.
Syfy has been airing Lost Girl straight through since January, to a major disruption of other shows on their schedule. Ask Haven fans how they feel about it. And they be trying to get UK and Aus together as well.
ReplyDeleteUS forums should be expected to talk about a show following the US airings. But Canadian fans come to US boards and talk about the Canadian schedule. That's not fair. It wouldn't be fair for us to attack Canadian boards with the US schedule if they were behind. If outside US readers come to US forums they should expect to be spoiled if they are behind on the viewing schedule.
Honestly scifisurfer this is the way it was probably going to go anyway. Dyson is going to end up being Bo's main squeeze, not because he's better, they belong together or wolves mate for life or any of that other adolescent teen crush crap but because he's a guy. Its safer for them to pair Bo with Dyson and have an occasional threeway for sweeps.
ReplyDeleteI'm from the UK, it means we have a much longer break and so will Australia both bought the series before the US and I guess the US Syfy delayed because they were scared about the content. No problem, buy it and change the content, it's changed rating, the language has been edited, scenes have been cut, since Syfy US bought in. I think from a US viewers point of view all hunky dory. Go to Lost Girl Facebook and see how grateful people are to all be together with Syfy US.
ReplyDeleteThank you Syfy for ruining everything once again.
ReplyDeleteI honestly hope this is some kind of sick joke because I am not liking the influence Syfy is clearly having over this show.
ReplyDeleteGosh, its so hard to see why the US fan base doesn't feel welcome in the Lost Girl family. I think the PG rating was more appropriate anyway. They never showed anything in S1 to get the TV-MA (except Vexed, but that tone of a show got killed long before SyFy of any country came on the scene). The language and time edits are on the backend and hasn't affected your show at all. If anyone should be annoyed on that, it's US viewers. So getting mad at us and insulting us totally makes sense.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Bo with Lauren for S3? Didn't they spend S2 killing Dyson's character? Is scheduling now a doccubus cause?
ReplyDeleteUm What? Im not following your question please explain. Unless you have more insight that is available then this site I haven't seen anything that says Bo and Lauren are together for season 3, and I don't know how season 2 killed Dysons character in anyway.
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with the US fanbase joining the family, it's being the youngest child in the family and then dictating to everyone else what happens that bugs me. It is naive to think that Syfy US hasn't influenced the series, it obviously has otherwise we'd all be seeing it earlier than January 2013 at the earliest in case of UK and Australia, probably later.
ReplyDeleteIm a U.S fan and Iv always felt welcome by the canadian fans and you are taking things way to personal. I haven't seen one remark either here or on fb that has been insulting to Americans. People are raging against syfy U.S. not the American fans really you are being a bit of a drama queen. I feel for the Canadian fans and the rest of the world because their schedules are being messed up for syfy U.S. its not fair and its not right.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't dictated anything. Stop using us as a scapegoat. And no matter when we joined we aren't second-class, younger sibling fans. Or am I being too entitled to think I don't need need to run all my opinions through my big brothers before I have them?
ReplyDeleteOh and Showcase said it was their decision.
"Mealy mouthed market" is the US audience. So maybe you just aren't reading very carefully. The implication is that SyFy demands are to cater to the US audience, so anything that they want to blame SyFy for, they attribute to US audience fanservice, eg, time cuts.
ReplyDeleteI didn't take mealy mouthed market as an insult to Americans but to American media owners, Im reading just fine, thanks for your concern. I don't see anybody saying American fans are to blame, anywhere. SYFY demands to soften Lost Girl has nothing to do with the American audience its syfy buying the show but not having the balls to show it in its true form. They muzzle kenzi, de-sex a succubus and edit out the gay, not in an effort to cater to the American audience but to avoid having to take a stand against the two or three uptight fanboys that might complain.
ReplyDeleteCry more, Canadians. All of you. Your hatred sustains me.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I didn't realise you were a spokesperson for Syfy US, I was using a metaphor. I'm sorry if that wasn't understood, you don't need to consult your brothers, it was describing some one who comes late to the feast and then dictates the menu. Oh, too rich, it was a for instance.
ReplyDeleteUS TV has dramatic constraints on language, nudity and apparently no constraints on its forums for remarks pertaining to the LGBT community. I'm straight and have been shocked at the level of hostility shown to this aspect of Lost Girl in some quarters and those who express such views making pacts to write to those advertising and saying they will boycott their products. So, pardon me, if I see increased Syfy US intervention as less than welcome to a show that shows a same sex relationship to have more depth than titilation for sweeps. I think the sway that Syfy US has on this show is clear, it even advertised Alphas the show that Lost Girl is moving to Friday for on the Lost Girl Facebook page.
I understand those who are in the US and have been keen for a heteronormative bias to prevail will welcome this development. Those US citizens who find this show to have something refreshing to offer, may soon find it as plastic as most other shows they are offered.
Thx for ruining everything Syfy/Showcase. I hope the extra money is worth pissing off the fans!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat did you expect them to say? Syfy US made us?
ReplyDeleteWay too much bitching in this thread for me.
ReplyDeleteOh canada....stop. Just...Stop.
ReplyDeleteLost Girl is getting more money and S3 looks PROMISING AS HELL. So what if you wait as long as folks at USA?
You were too bored to read the discussion, we're not waiting as long as the US, we're waiting five months longer, other markets far longer. Sorry to wake you up.
ReplyDeletethese comments are so funny but i must say that is an incredibly long time to wait
ReplyDeleteOh thank god, I thought for a minute we had over a year left to wait.
ReplyDeleteHaving to wait a few months longer isn't too bad (not as bad as when I originally thought the wait was until Fall 2013).
ReplyDeleteCanada can't really complain too much, they're still getting it first. If you end up getting a Torchwood situation, where the UK got it last, then maybe...
Still sucks for them, considering a lot of people were/are really looking forward to its return.
Yeah, that's what I thought they meant at first, too. I'm just so relieved we don't have to wait a year and a half, that I don't mind waiting six or seven months.
ReplyDeleteI did not mean to offend US citizens, the fact that they buy up and pay for channels showing dramas coming from other countries perhaps suggests they're sick of the homogenous bland they're delivered. Shows like WH13 are delightful but why you can show someone being immolated as happened in WH13 Season 3 and then get upset about the other word for crap used in Lost Girl is totally beyond me.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to see when the UK and Australia get Lost Girl and if we're behind if anyone will be bothered about us being spoiled. I trust that the US viewers will hold off discussing the programme until we're all caught up.
I took no offense scifisurfer, Im one of the biggest flag waving American you can find but anyone with a brain in their skull knows no one is talking about the American audience but syfy U.S.
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on how violence is more acceptable then sexuality and cursing in American television. Its so strange to me that parent and religious organizations get upset about the rough language used by WWE wrestlers but have no problem with them beating each other to a bloody pulp. Its a disappointment networks are so afraid of groups like mentioned above that they churn out bland unoriginal shows again and again. I knew as soon as I heard that syfy picked up Lost Girl that they would edit it and dub it into oblivion, and sure enough I was right.
If syfy were around during the late 60's and airing the original Star Trek series I wouldn't put it past them to edit out the controversial kiss between Captain Kirk and Uhura. Heaven forbid some feathers get ruffled by a character dropping the s bomb or two women share an intimate touch. More upsetting than syfy editing a showcase product is showcase allowing syfy to dictate what they do with their own show. Season 2 was obviously victim to syfys standards of sexuality and language, and now it looks like season 3 will be next, even its schedule isn't safe.
How come every time we come up with a show that is golden the U.S tries to put their hands all over it,if they get what they are after this show might as well end up on the Disney channel. There goes our girls.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind waiting that long. Prob better to wait on crit comments till the season starts though. Wish I was in town to see the cast at comic con though. Hopefully someone posts a video of the LG panel :)
ReplyDelete"I have no problem with the US fanbase joining the family, it's being the youngest child in the family and then dictating to everyone else what happens that bugs me."
ReplyDeleteI was using your pronouns (and then your metaphor). Not referring to myself as SyFy US. Yes, our fanboards do have people of all stripes, not all of them nice or accepting, and love or hate they have every right to express their opinion. But I would caution you. Not liking Lauren or the Lauren/Bo pairing does not inherently make the comment anti-LGBT, she's a very flawed character some people like it, some people hate it. Insinuating that the US has some overarching bias or that all American TV is "plastic" is offensive to not just US Lost Girl fans but all American TV fans. Not everything is a winner, but there are great shows out there and there is a lot diversity at present.
to be honest the canadian shows have been airing alot lately and when usa buys out new seasons suck. if you are going to buy out learn to write a dam script. reason its so popular is cause canada knows how to make a story and plot. they dont make there shows teen drama and dull all the pain suffering. usa get dam life this is why i have to look out my dam country to find great shows.
ReplyDeleteI am from the US and saw it way before SyFy shown the show, and have to wait for it just as long as you Canadians, I haven't watched any of the syfy episodes as I have already seen them with you guys, and am content to wait for the 3rd season a little extra longer.
ReplyDeleteI know that puts an inconvience on you Canadians on waiting for things, but I can see the business sense for the producers of the show and the people who fund the show, to get a bigger audience at the same time watching the show, that alone makes things where there is a greater chance of the show getting renewed again, and for fans that is the thing they all want, their show renewed again.
I was a big fan of the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and when it was ended without renewal, that hurt, especially when it ended as it did.
I like Lost Girl just as well, and found about it when I did from some friends I have in Canada, and I had turned them on to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, before they turned me on to Lost Girl, they turned me on to Lost Girl, because, it seems we have the same tastes in shows. And, if I find a show I think my Canadian friends will like, I will always let them know and where to go and see it.
The rating for the show changed long before the SyFy channel got it on the air, I watched the rating change before the first episode aired on the Syfy Channel. Though I haven't watched any episode on the Syfy channel but a few friends have and said all the stuff that was on the first showing from Showcase was there, just the episodes were shortened 90 seconds, mainly due to the amount of commercials that the US has on its shows and markets. Which I think sucks, but the Creator and producers refused to cut anything that was good or juicy on the show to go into the 90 second shortening. And the friends that watched were from Canada, just to verify if anything was left out that was good to the show, and they said nothing good was cut.
ReplyDeleteAs I stated in an above post, all of this is due to the producers and Creators to get a bigger viewing audience seeing the show at the same time to help the odds for the show to get a strong renewal. Which is good business sense, for any show and for any one that watches the show, I wish things had went that way for a favorite of mine from the FOX network, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and being from the UK you should know of a whole lot of fans that were disappointed on that cancellation too.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, that it isn't right, but as I have stated in above posts on replying to this, I think it was just a business decision to get all the fans to watch the show at the same time to help get a bigger fanbase at the same time to help make sure the show gets renewed again, on that I think it is a good decision, but for the fans that have to wait longer, it really does suck for them, and I am one of those myself, as I started watching the show, from Showcase, long before it got to the US, so I do feel for the fans that have to wait longer for the show. Sometimes business decisions make things messed up for the fans that have to wait for the show longer, and that does suck. But if their strategy works as they hope, then all the fans win in the long run if the show gets renewed again. And for me, wherever the show gets renewed I will find it and watch it.
ReplyDeleteNow I can agree with your points here, and can respect that, and that is why I haven't spoiled anything for the fans just started watching the show, or posted anything til they got caught up to that point before I posted anything,
ReplyDeleteFinally someone from the US that feels the same way I feel. The US networks turned me against them when they started to show the silly reality shows like Big Brother and other shows over the better shows that were on the air at the time, like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Firefly and other shows that were good to favor stupid things from the silly reality shows, that have no content worth mentioning.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it is because of SyFy, but from what I have been reading, I think it is due to the producers trying to get the fanbase big enough at the same time to strengthen the chances for the show to be renewed again. But if SyFy has them water it down, then I will be pissed off, I am from the US, but have been following the show in Showcase and have to wait as my Canadian friends, and I do hope that they let them keep the show as it is intended from Showcase, and not go messing with it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this, though most will be argueing that it is due to something else. And I am from the US, and have been waiting just as long as the Canadians too, cause I have watched the Episodes from Showcase. But can see the business sense on getting the fanbase together as a bigger fanbase all around at the same time, if some of the good shows in the US had done this, when they could have then I think that some of the better shows that got cancelled would still be around a while longer.
ReplyDeleteif you noticed scyfi show lately canadian based. even being humans a remake of bbc show in 90s
ReplyDeleteLove the show! I know it came to the US very late but I'm excited that there is going to be a 3rd season. Anxious to see where they take the characters. Not all American shows mimic one another, however a lot of the shows here do have some commonalities, major and minor. I do hope they keep the show's essence.
ReplyDeleteI want Bo and Lauren to finally be together. Just saying.
Just saying...I know a few sites to watch it if you know what I mean
ReplyDeleteI'm getting a bit sick and tired of Syfy controlling what we as fans can watch,i am in the UK so i have to wait until after the broadcast in the states. If series are off our screens for too long,we won't be able to remember what's gone on!!!............Dave.
ReplyDeleteI know how my Canadian and UK friends feel about this goofy long wait to get to watch the next season of Lost Girl, I am from the US and have watched the show from Showcase, from the start, and have to wait with you. It bites that we all have to wait till SyFy finishes showing the show, just to get to watch it in January, SyFy could easily Double episode it or better to show it quicker to easily get caught up on the show and have it shown sooner, because they are showin reruns of most of the things on their channel at the moment, With the exception of Alpha's and Warehouse 13, but they choose to show their old movie reruns in days when they have no regular programming, which to me is a total waste of my time, Or they show their reality shows, which is another waste of time, with the exception of Ghost Hunters, which I find strangely enjoyable to watch.
ReplyDeletePoint is they could easily fill in their dead time spots with Lost Girl episodes to easily catch up and get the next season started earlier fo all involved in waiting for the show to start its next season earlier so we all could have been watching the next season now. Instead of this January.
Wrong in your assumptions again. AUS is has announced it is also airing in Jan. Wanna take back some of the hate or keep on with the ill-founded righteous indignation?
ReplyDeleteYeah I know and am hoping that SyFy will finally start getting out of the Reality show rut that the other channels seem to be digging out.
ReplyDelete"Oh canada....stop. Just...Stop.... So what if you wait as long as folks at USA?"
ReplyDeleteIt's a Canadian show. This American channel has insisted, it seems, that we in Canada wait until the Americans catch up, so that we in Canada don't have an advantage watching our own damn show. Imagine for a moment this happening the other way around. We here in Canada want an American channel to hold off on one of their shows to suit us. Won't happen. Not ever.
I am from the US and I am waiting just as long as the Canadians, cause I watched the show from Showcase as well, and have to endure the wait with you guys, also the extra wait isn't just for the US to catch up, it is also for the UK, and Australia, well I think the UK saw it at the same time as Canada, I am not sure, but he Aussies are in the same boat as the US.
ReplyDeleteThe Producers wanted to wait to get all onboard to get more viewers and revenue going at the same time to help ensure the show gets better ratings to hopefully ensure another renewal, that is just business on their part, there isn't any real proof that SyFy said halt the season premier, for us, That was a discussion and agreement by all involved for the above said reasons, do some research and see things for yourself. I do research and it does help to have friends who work in the movie industry to let me in on some things.
no in season 2 bo was with lauren then they broke up because of her girlfriend bo is not with lauren anymore because of that other chick bo and Dyson will be togeather
ReplyDeleteBo and Dyson won't be together in season 3. Here relationship is with someone else and all signs point to that person being Lauren.
ReplyDeleteEveryone on here needs to stop whining about the US, we do what we want, whenever we want, because we can...so get used to it. USA rules!
ReplyDelete
