How I Met Your Mother - Season 8 - Michael Trucco to return

Jul 23, 2012

It’s tough to shake a crush, and it looks like How I Met Your Mother’s Robin isn’t quite over hers yet.

Battlestar Galactica alum Michael Trucco will reprise his role as the guy who catches Robin’s eye in a multi-episode arc on the CBS sitcom this fall, sources tell TVLine exclusively. Trucco first appeared on the show two seasons ago, as an object of her affections known only as “Crush.”

Though the show wanted Trucco for more episodes in Season 6, his involvement with USA Network’s Fairly Legal (on which he plays Justin) made that impossible at the time. HIMYM definitely has him for a chunk of the upcoming Season 8, which is sure to raise questions about the fate of Fairly Legal.

  1. I'm guessing this means Fairly Legal has been cancelled. (Which means I can delete the episodes off my DVR that I still need to catch up on.)

  2. Even though Fairly Legal probably is done for, Trucco doing a few episodes of HIMYM is not an indicator of the show's demise. Cable shows and network shows have different filming schedules and it's not uncommon to see people with regular cable roles take guest spots on network programs during the off-season and vice versa.

  3. They couldn't get him last season because of his Fairly Legal schedule, though, I'm pretty sure. That's why we got Kevin.

  4. Aw, dang it. You had to bring up Kevin. I had already forgotten about him (thank god) until just now. Thanks a lot, Klutzy. :P

  5. LOL. Sorry! (I try not to think about him myself)

  6. Yay! I was actually worried they wouldn't be able to keep up with this continuity! Of course I'm still on cloud nine that Robin is the bride hehehe

  7. In two minds about this, on one hand I like Michael Trucco and anything that keeps Robin away from Barney is fine by by me, but on the other I'm going to have to read comment after comment insulting the guy, just like poor Kevin/Kal Penn.

  8. I really could not care less, still on cloud nine because of Barney/Robin wedding :)

  9. I don't think that's going to happen this time, especially since we already know Barney/Robin are endgame. Michael Trucco's character is just a temporary roadblock and he doesn't matter at all.

Kevin overstayed his welcome and there are various other reasons he was disliked.

  10. Good for you when such things can have such an impact on you. I can't imagine how you react to real life weddings

  11. 'Overstayed his welcome'...Yup, these are the words used for character on a show. Robin was way more annoying than Kevin last season

  12. You people take this show too seriously

  13. I'm still pissed at Robin myself for a few things. (Namely the fact that she thought "I CAN'T HAVE A BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" was somehow worse than cheating on Kevin and never told him she slept with Barney.)

Basically, last season had a lot of people making bad decisions.

  15. Ted narrates that there was more to that story in season 6 if I remember correctly. So, I think they are just tying up any lose ends they have left before wrapping it all up. While I would love to see another season, I hope the network decides quickly if the show is going to be back for a 9th season or not soon so as to not screw up with the overall plan on how to end the show.

  16. Good to hear it! Doubtful we'll see the wedding this year, but good to know they'll be wrapping up this story.
