British beauty Camilla Luddington, who played Kate Middleton in Lifetime’s William & Kate telepic, is joing the staff of Grey’s Anatomy‘s Seattle Grace for Season 9, our sister site Deadline reports.

Luddington will play a doctor, yes, in a recurring role that comes with the option to eventually be a series regular.

  1. No, there's already enough cast members! We just lost two.

As much as I love new storylines, do we really need another possible series regular? We've just lost Lexie. We've lost Teddy. No need for a replacement.

  3. The new Tomb Raider has other things to focus on right now.

  5. While I'm not thrilled about more cast additions, I'm going to reserve judgement for a little while because I'd like to see Seattle Grace include some foreign-born medical professionals on the show, you know... like EVERY hospital in the US. It's amazing that a show set at a hospital could go on for eight seasons without including any doctors from the Middle East of the Pacific Rim.

I didn't see Luddington in the Lifetime movie (because there's no way in hell I'd be caught dead watching a Lifetime movie) but I know her from Californication. All she did on Californication was to get naked and perform simulated sex acts so it wasn't the best format to display her acting chops. She's just about to start her recurring role on True Blood so I'll be interested to see what she can do with that role.

  7. Unless they expect her to do what KMK did, lose the accent and create an American backstory. It's an ensemble cast, that is the format and has been since series 2 (so many fans seem p'eed off by that) and it does need new blood. That's not what some fans want but the likes of Jessie Williams and Sarah Drew are simply not strong enough. Alex needs a story and the only way to get one is to bring in someone new.

  8. Why are people surprised at new cast members. This is an ensemble show and almost always has been. I for one am pleased. I just wish they'd binned Avery. Poorly written character and an actor with NO character.

  9. Heh. Doesn't count. Cristina Yang is just as American as every other character on the show.

  10. The only stories Alex gets are ones where his character is absolutely miserable. I'm still waiting for Grey's to rectify that situation.

  11. We really have been waiting YEARS for that poor guy to get his slice of happiness. I'm still not holding my breath.

  12. No new characters. I don't like this.

  13. Yang is American, born and bred in Beverly Hills. Not foreign born.

  14. Am I the only one that doesn't care? As long as her storylines are good and interesting, I'm all for it. I hope it doesn't dissapoint in that aspect.

  15. but her parents are Asian besides they have foreign patients so they get away with not have foreign doctors. lol

  16. I know I am one of the minorities but I'm hoping this is a love interest for either Mark or Jackson. The April/Jackson relationship seems kind of boring I'd really rather her be with Alex I think that might be an interesting dynamic to play around with. And the whole best friends falling in love is kind of overdone. Also the actress kind of looks like Chyler Leigh and Sarah Drew meshed into one person.

  17. Although Lucy was cast as an american she was actually played by an australian Rachael Taylor who had to lose the accent like KMK. Disappointing as it's actually part of every doctor's training that they do a placement overseas for 2 years before becoming fully fledged surgeons.

  18. While Grey's has done and acceptable job with diversity when it comes to skin color, they really fall short in the diversity category when it comes to background and nationality. It's a problem that almost all medical shows have.

  19. I'm not that worried about it, after Lexie died and Teddy left I figured we'd be seeing at least 2 new faces anyway. I welcome the new blood and the fresh possibilities for storylines, as long as they're executed properly.
