    That's so insane that he tries to make it look like a one time deal :O...clearly she doesn't quite buy it...not after BHB and what she saw at the end of season 5, how could she? (but I do think it will take her time to digest it...)

    Actually to some degree, I think there is a bit of truth to what Dexter told her. I think Rita's death, saving and loosing Lumen, and loosing Brother Sam, haven't exactly helped Dexter's psyche, but like Deb starts to realize by bringing up the plastic, (the planned ritual), is that this problem goes far beyond the death of Rita, as the murder of Rita (because she was so motherly) was a mirror of the murder of his mother...

    The irony is I think he could actually make that copycat excuse work for some time. He could always claimed to have copied the MO of the BHB because he knew him personally and knew how effective his forensic countermeasures were.
    Sure, still a kind of lame excuse but not impossible. However, I think that once Deb has some time to reflect what happened she'll poke a bunch of holes into that story... not too difficult either.
