Even though she appeared on “Dexter”, “As Good As It Gets” or “A Gifted Man”, to sum up a few of her roles, Julie Benz is happy to be known as a “crazy dog lady”. According to the magazine, it’s a self-description she wears proudly as the devoted “mom” to two dogs, Bamboo ( a Yorkie ) and Sugar ( a Havanese mix ) and as temporary caretaker for friends’ pets and foster canines from Los Angeles area rescue groups Dirty Dog Squad and Animal Rescue Corps.
“I basically run a kennel at my house. I just love dogs”.
Recently, Julie Benz has picked up a new role in the SF drama series “Defiance” produced by SyFy in conjunction with the gaming company MMO. In the series, she plays a mayor of a mining town trying to defend civility from war.
“It’s one of the best scripts I’ve read. She’s a very dynamic female character.”
