When it comes to Comic-Con, The CW's "Arrow" is arguably one of the most anticipated new shows of the upcoming fall season. Taking a darker, gritter approach to a beloved comic book super hero, "Arrow's" protagonist is a deeply damaged man who will stop at nothing to enact justice on the criminal element.
Zap2it sat down with executive producer Marc Guggenheim before the series' enormous panel and he let us in on some of the team's plans for the show. Here are the four things you need to know before the series debuts on Wednesday, October 10 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
1. He's a man - no superpowers.
2. Giving yourself a nickname is ludicrous.
3. Other DC characters will appear. They are drawing from the comic book world.
4. Flashbacks explain a lot.

For me the best thing I keep hearing is that he will not have superpowers. Well except the superpowers of being incredibly rich and buff. That encourages me because it makes him a little more relatable than most superheroes. Plus it sounds like there will be plenty of back story to flesh out the character.
ReplyDeleteNo superpowers and incredibly rich and buff.. I'm glad that they resisted the temptation to go Bruce Wayne/Batman-ish with the character - lol (probably not a good idea). I'm not completely familiar with the comic character, but I like that I've read that he will be fairly dark with his vigilantism which might be more somewhat realistic than the typical superhero mold of "no casualties, even bad guys".... looks it's generating great buzz and will hopefully generate some good numbers as a good lead for SPN
ReplyDeleteThe CW hopes so too. They need a bona fide, no holds barred, bigger than Vampire Diaries hit this year and Arrow is their best shot.
ReplyDeleteWe've seen more than enough powers in Smallville, so I'm glad we're exploring the more "normal" side of the DCU for a change. There are plenty of heroes and villains without powers that I would love to see on the show.
ReplyDeleteI like that it's grounded, but don't want too much Nolan-inspiration. It really is a shame that it can't be paired up with Nikita, because a block of @sskicking shows would have been awesome.
