Arrow - Season 1 - Ausiello Interview

13 Jul 2012

To hear series leads Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy tell it, The CW’s Arrow (premiering Wednesday, Oct. 10) hit the bulls-eye not just with its well-received pilot but also beyond.  During their visit to TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite, Cassidy — who plays Laurel Lance to Amell’s Oliver Queen aka Arrow — assured fans (and potential fans) that as rock-’em sock-’em as the pilot is, Episode 2, which they just got the script for, is just as “awesome” and even “bold” in the directions it goes. The Gossip Girl alum also teases that her costar has his “work cut out for him” in that second hour.

  1. Even Ausiello can't dampen my new found interest in this show. Previously I only cared about Arrow for how well it would lead-in to Supernatural, but it's emphasis on action and no magical elements make me excited for it in its own right.

  2. Happy to hear that you're interested and glad for you that you aren't an avid (read rabid) comic book geek like me, so will be able to enjoy this show easier than I can.

  3. I've never been into comic books and I far prefer human heroes to alien/magical/superpowered heroes so this is all looking great to me. The intense action scenes really sell it. However, I am a librarian and I cringe whenever I hear that my favorite books are being turned into movies because that usually ruins them. I understand where you're coming from. It's not easy to put the source material behind you and just enjoy the show for its own merits.

This is by far the show I'm most exited about. I wasn't that convinced when they casted Cassidy, I've seen her on to many shows on the CW. But after all the previews and reviews and interviews, I've been sold.

  5. Well, to be honest Batman is my favorite hero, he has no super powers and neither does Green Arrow. Which makes them all that more easily translatable to the big or small screen. The only thing that is really over the top about these two guys are their main antagonists. I guess that's why I like them so much. I especially like Green Arrow from the late 80's when he moved to Seattle and ditched the costume.

  6. My favorite is SpiderMan so I guess he was superpowers. At least there's a reason for it and he's still very relatable as Peter Parker. My least favorite is Superman by far and especially after that last movie disaster. What's up with creating a kid that even kryptonite can't stop? Superheroes can't be too big for the human story or else I lose interest.

  7. I'm more excited about Revolution but I've got more interest staked in Arrow. Either way they are my 1-2 punch of new shows I will definitely be watching this fall. I hope beyond hope that both will do well.

I'm also quite excited for Revolution actually. I really hope it isn't a failure like Terra Nova...
