Thanks to The Spoiler Fairy for sending us the following..
A corrupt businessman who orders a hit on Laurel, a beautiful Chinese assassan who is sent to kill Laurel, and a client of Laurel's whose father was murdered.
So does this mean that while Laurel will be working with Arrow/Oliver, she will in fact not know who he really is? This would be more in line with most comic book shows, although I would like it better if we didn't play "Who Was That Masked Man?" for the 1 billionth time.
I think playing that game is inevitable on shows like these. There isn't much point to having a secret identity if it's not a secret. I've just come to accept it as something inherent to the genre.
Oh I agree that it has to be kept a secret from the majority. I just hate when it becomes this wink-wink thing with the audience. I was excited in the synopsis to think that Oliver and Laurel were working together because she already knew his secret. Now it seems like it will be more typical - Arrow and Laurel are working together while Laurel thinks Oliver is an obnoxious playboy. That plot has grown tiring for me. I hope that Laurel learns the truth sooner instead of later.
It's a double-edged sword. The "unwitting ally" subplot can be tiresome like you mention but it also raises the stakes for the reveal and gives it more impact. As long as they don't pull a Smallville and drag it on too long it should be alright. I think anything less than a full season is an acceptable amount of time.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm hoping that Chinese assassin is Lady Shiva.

ReplyDeleteI'll give it until the midseason hiatus and then I'll declare it drug out too long.
