Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 1K - Polls
14 Jun 2012
Polls SupernaturalIt was another close round with 2 Minutes to Midnight and Death Takes a Holiday battling it out to the end. Winning by only 7 votes, 2 Minutes to Midnight advances to round 2 along with Lucifer Rising, Crossroad Blues, and Weekend at Bobby's. The latter all won their rounds handily. Leaving the contest is of course Death Takes a Holiday (such a shame), No Exit, The Benders, and Wendigo. Thus far I'm batting 100% on the second half of round 1 predictions and not too shabby on my picks either. I'm sure that will change. Today we have some of my favorite episodes so it will be easy for me. I hope you feel so too. We also start season 3 quotes nominations so break out your demon fighting tools and grab the flamethrower for the changelings. It's The Magnificent Seven and The Kids are Alright today.

1. Lazarus Rising - in my top 10 episodes and still my favorite pilot, just slightly edging out In My Time of Dying. It's all good in this episode. I enjoy Of Grave Importance, even more on rewatch but it would take more than this to get my to vote against Lazarus Rising
ReplyDelete2. In the Beginning -Some time travel episodes are better than others in this is the best Supernatural has ever done. Finding out Mary was a hunter rocked the mytharc of this show to the core. Seeing Dean find this out rocked even more. Love all the background we got on the Campbells and the Winchesters. Now if only Grandpa Creepy had stayed dead. I find Free to be You and Me mostly a forgettable snooze fest so no contest for me here.
3. Appointment in Samarra - Dean as Death. Sam trying to kill Bobby. Bobby being awesome. Balthazar, Death, and Tessa. Sam being re-souled. There's an awful lot going on in this episode and I loved every part of it. Intense, heartwarming, all around great episode. I didn't care for 99 Problems so again no contest for me.
4. Skin - This one was a bit harder because I mean there was Rufus, Ellen, Jo, and War with lots of action in Good God Y'All. I really like this episode, but Skin had the first and best shape shifter. It was thrilling, scary, gory, and funny. It had fabulous brother moments that made me "aawwwww" and great lines that made me laugh. Plus it supposedly took place in my hometown. Skin is in my top episodes. Can't vote against it even if I would vote Good God Y'All before most of the episodes in this contest.
1. Lazarus Rising -one of the best season premiers of spn
ReplyDelete2. In the Beginning -Finally we knew why Mary apologised to Sam way back in HOME.. and that she was the first ever Winchester ti make a Demon Deal
3. Appointment in Samarra - DEATH -- one of the best characters.. and it had Tessa too .. I like that reaper.. and then Dean as Death.. awesome..
4. Skin - First shirtless Dean ever.. okay apart from that great insight to Deans character...
I voted for Lazarus Rising, In The Beginning, Appointment in Samarra, and Skin. Not very hard choices for me today.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. This is one of the easiest rounds of all for me. I chose same as you. I think except for the last poll, this is going to be a day of blowouts.
ReplyDeleteBwah! That last comment made me laugh. Thanks, I needed that.Mary making that demon deal was one of the biggest shocks of the series to me. It changed my perspective about everything.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be a blowout for the polls today as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything! :) Specially 99 problems, it didn't delivery!
ReplyDeleteLOL...it's gonna be one of those votes for me I can already tell.
ReplyDelete1) I am, apparently, one of two people to vote for Of Grave Importance. Loved Lazarus Rising but the edge went Of Grave Importance mostly due to a knee jerk emotional thing. The discord between Sam and Dean in Lazarus Rising. Otherwise the two eps are neck-n-neck in my book.
2) In The Beginning - The actress playing their mother wasn't the best for me. Not that she was bad but something about her didn't totally connect with me. But getting that back story and seeing Mitch Pilefgi at work as their grandfather put it above Free for me. (Its too bad that that rich family history netted nothing more than cannon fodder in season six. One of my major disappointments of season six was what was, for me, a waste of Pileggi's talents.)
3) Appointment in Samara - Death! Really. Need I say more? But I will. 99 Problems was a middlin' ep for me. It didn't hit any real high notes until Casitel showed up all out of sorts. Samara..was Death teaching Dean a lesson.
4) Skin - easy one. This was the first episode where the monster made an impression. It was actually creepy in its cold bloodedness and...well...Jensen Ackles has been on my...'check out anything he's in' list since he did Dark Angel. Watching him do evil...was worth the hour!
I kept finding myself nodding vigorously at the reasons for your selections. And guess what...I agree with you too. :-D
ReplyDeleteNew commenting form...nice!
ReplyDeleteToday was easy for me too - but I think at least half of my favorites won't make it past this round.
Lazarus Rising - no contest as this is in my Top 5 and I love it so, so much. I think it's my favorite of the season premieres. Dean's reunion with Bobby, then Sam, is so wonderful. I also love when Bobby throws the holy water in Dean's face...Jensen does great with that stuff. Of Grave Importance was also a good episode, but nowhere near as wonderful as Lazarus Rising.
In The Beginning - Going with the season 4 theme, I like this episode, and Dean's interactions with a young John and Mary. There are a lot of nods to Back to the Future, and if one tries to think too hard about if John would have had the Impala had Dean not nudged him towards it back in the 70s...well...you'd go crazy. I love time travel for that reason, but also can't think about it too hard as it gives me a headache. I really love the scene when Dean pleads with Mary not to go into the baby nursery in 1983. Very emotional. I was bummed that Deana and Samuel were killed off so quickly, but still. A great episode, and Dean finally learns the absolute truth about Sam and the demon blood when he was a baby. Free to be You and Me was enjoyable - but I am not a fan of episodes with Sam and Dean apart.
99 Problems - Dean is very near the bottom of the pit of despair in this episode, and this is also one of my favorites from season 5. Sam and Castiel have some good scenes, and Dean taking off at the end was unexpected. I have no doubt that this episode won't win, but I enjoy it over Appt in Samarra, even though that is also a strong episode.
Good God, Y'all - I like Skin, but it's not one that I make a point of or look forward to watching when I do a season 1 watch. Mostly because I don't like the blond chick who is supposed to be Sam's friend. Also - the shapeshifter "shedding"? SO GROSS!!! I don't want to see teeth falling out! :( I like Good God, Y'all, and it has a kickass song scene with Spirit in the Sky. Also, RUFUS! And...Ellen throws holy water in Dean's face. haha! I wish they'd do that at least once a season, just to make it a thing. :D
- Lazarus Rising -
ReplyDeleteOf Grave Importance was a nice episode but it can't hold a candle to the season four opener. It was a hell* of a way to start off one of SPN's strongest seasons. (no pun intended)
- Free to Be You and Me -
I'm not a fan of either episode in this match-up but Free to Be hasn't a damn thing to do with time travel so winner, winner chicken dinner.
- Appointment in Samarra -
Easy pick. While there's nothing really wrong with 99 Problems, it's not very memorable either. Samarra, on the other hand, had Death, Balthazar, Tessa, and Robert Englund.
- Good God, Y'all -
GGY is a solid episode but it wins by default. Why? Because shapeshifter episodes can kiss my a**. That's why. :P
Can't vote in this poll. All of these eps are from later seasons. :/
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling fairly confident about my picks today for once. Many of these polls are very uneven in episode quality.
ReplyDelete99 Problems tends to bug me more than keep me entertained. It had its good moments but they were few and far between.
ReplyDeleteAlec in Dark Angel was quite the character. It's my favorite non-Dean role Jensen Ackles has ever played. Still I'm not quite as dedicated as you are. I just cannot force myself to watch Blonde or more than a few snippets of his CJ role. I think I deserve bonus points though for getting through Devour....twice! It would be nice if one day Hollywood would recognize what a talent he is and put him in a movie I actually would want to see whether he was in it or not.
ReplyDeletePoll #1: Though I dont rever this episode as much as others, Lazarus Rising is an incredible episode. This episode will go far.
ReplyDeletePoll #2: In the Beginning - this epiode was a great ride from start to finish. Dean chose the impala. Mary was a hunter. Azazels endgame is a hell of a lot bigger than that. Mary makes a deal.
Appointment in Sammara - Man, the tension! This episode had me at the edge of my seat. Very nice message to Dean as well.
Poll #3: Skin - The first truly great episode of Supernatural. Others will explain it better. Mainly cuz Im lazy.
What season are you on?
ReplyDeleteI'm good with a recurring holy water scene too. Dean's reactions in both, but especially Lazarus Rising, were funny. I also loved the whole scene with Spirit in theSky and the brothers with guns in broad daylight with the overturned car was visually stunning. You and I come at emoangsting from different angles so the very reason you liked 99 Problems is the reason I don't. However, I loved Pean taking off for Lisa and that whole ending scene were she's trying to talk him off the ledge - perfect!
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising is one of my favorite episodes ever made.
ReplyDeleteIn The Beginning is one of my favorite time travel episodes.
Appointment in Samarra is a great one. Dean being death and unable to do it. Death's warnings to him were interesting given the finale.
Skin is wonderful episode. Not that I don't like Good God Ya'll. Sjkin is just better
Now there's the Bruce I know. Making snarky comments about time travel and shifters, making me roar with laughter! You threw me there for awhile voting for My Heart Will Go On and The Song Remains the Same.
ReplyDeleteI have Lazarus Rising beaten in round 5 but even then I was hesitant. If I were to go back and predict again, I'd pick it to win up to the final four. It's such a strong episode and has lots of fan love behind it. I agree with all your picks. In the Beginning truly enlarged the scope in a way I never dreamed back in season 1.
ReplyDeleteQuote from Magnificent 7 "What's In The Box!" - Dean
ReplyDeleteI always loved the Death character but when he made Dean be Death I realized just how crafty he was too. Let's just say I'm never applying for the neighborhood reaper job.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorites too. For such an insignificant season premiere, it sure had a lot of great lines.
ReplyDeleteNo contest with the first one, Lazarus Rising. Dean out of his grave and we get to meet Castiel.
ReplyDeleteSince I love the time travel it has to be In The Beginning, Dean going back, meeting his young parents, giving his dad the hint about Baby and finding out about YED.
Appointment in Samarra has Death giving Dean his ring to wear for a day, that was interesting. Sam tries to kill Bobby and Death puts Sam's soul back. This ep could have been longer for me But I loved Cas in 99 Problems "I found a liquor store and I drink it."
Skin, another good one from season 1, love shifter Dean. lol Love the fight.
Lazarus Rising- My favorite premiere episode. Dean back, the hugs, and Castiel's grand entrance. :D
ReplyDeleteFree To Be You And Me- Love In The Beginning as well, just voting wit my gut even though In The Beginning is bound to win. I loved the sequence at the beginning showing Sam living on his own and Dean hunting vamps. Also loved seeing Dean and Cas go after Raphael together.
Appointment In Samarra- I just re-watched this episode today. It's one of my favorite episodes in Season 6. Dean taking on Death's job for the day was great. I like Death and Tessa's characters so it was nice seeing them again.
Good God Y'All- Once again going against the crowd. I just love the scene of Sam and Dean walking down the street to "Spirit in the Sky" plus Ellen, Jo, Rufus, Bobby, and Cas all being in the episode with Sam and Dean. And plenty of action. :D
I don't like the new format and where is the button to check to get comments emailed?
ReplyDeleteI posted this once but it did not show up, where is the button to have comments emailed to me? I don't like the new format.
ReplyDeleteOf course, if it goes up against an episode such as Mystery Spot or What is and What Should Never Be, it's toast.
ReplyDeleteShifter episodes are a trigger for me. They get my contrarian blood boiling. After that starts, time travel becomes an easy target for me. :)
ReplyDeleteWhy of course. How could it not? My prediction is it goes up against A Very SPN Christmas and that's an almost impossible pick for me. I flip flopped a lot before making my prediction. It was far harder than predicting the final winner for me.
ReplyDeleteI would have been good with an extended episode with Appointment in Samarra too. So much good stuff I could have been easily entertained for 2-3 hours with all of it.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a fan of Free to be You and Me but I did really enjoy the montage of both brothers working. I thought it was a brilliant way to show how different their lives had become without talking things to death. Very well done. I also agree that Good God Y'All is one of the best action episodes in the show's history. I'm not so sure you'll be in the minority for this one at the end. I think this poll will be the closest of them all.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've only seen Jensen in Dark Angel, only role I wanted to watch. XD
ReplyDeleteI loved Alec on that show. I need to find a way to watch re-runs sometime.
lazarus, in the beginning, 99 problems, good god yall
ReplyDeleteeasy picks .
Ha yeah, I am kinda lost with the new format too.
ReplyDeleteI think you have to change your setting in Disqus as a whole to get comments e-mailed to you. Click on your picture. A box should pop up. In the top right hand corner of that box, above where it says return to comments, you should see a little picture that looks like a wheel. Click on the wheel and then click on Edit Settings. That will pop up the Disqus dashboard. Click on Notifications and change it to what you want e-mailed to you. You should only have to do this once and you should get e-mails right away. For me it's the best way for me to know if someone has replied to a comment I made. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.
ReplyDeleteThe Berrisford Agends episode slayed me. Best episode of the whole show. I still maintain that if they had spent more time concentrating on Alec and Joshua and less time on the ever whiny Max the show would have last more than 2 seasons.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Google e-mail, but I believe Disqus changed the format to make comments post and upload faster. There are some things I'm having trouble adjusting to as well, especially these freakishly tiny comment boxes, but hopefully once we get used to it, we'll all think it's a positive change.
ReplyDeleteI would go with SPN christmas - Its like supernatural in an episode. If that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Dean spits out a little bit of water...I've watched that episode so many times because it's one of my fav's, and I find it hilarious that when Bobby throws the water at Dean you can see his face flinch a little. Man. The first 20 minutes of that episode are so damn good.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I knew you wouldn't vote for 99 Problems just for the reasons I did! But I do like the end scene as well. Very touching!
OK thanks, but I have found another way, at the top of these comments on the right hand side there is a star and a drop down list, sub to this. I am to dang old for new things. lol Not true, Best Buy is my favorite toy store.
ReplyDeleteDo you mean to subscribe to a specific thread?
ReplyDeleteIf so just above the comments at the top right corner there is a star rating system and to the right of that is a drop down menu. Click on the triangle and click the "subscribe via email" button
Lazarus Rising - amazing episode. It still gives me chills. An amazing build-up to blowing apart what we thought we knew about the mythology of the show. And I can't say how many times I've just watched the last five minutes, because it's such a great scene."You don't think you deserve to be saved." Chills.
ReplyDelete(and ugh, I miss badass-warrior-of-God-Cas!)
Free to be You and Me - Everything with Dean and Cas is wonderful and entertaining. Everything. I would go on but it would basically just be me squeeing over every single scene that the two of them are in. And the scene with Sam and Lucifer is super-creepy.
Appointment in Samarra - this was basically me weighing whether my love of drunk!Cas was greater than my disgust over the line "on a good day you get to kill a whore." Suffice to say, I really hate that line.
Good God Y'All - they were both really strong episodes, so it was hard to choose. Jo ended up being the deciding factor. (When I first saw this episode, I thought she'd be back as a recurring character throughout the season. I felt so betrayed when she was killed).
That will be my vote too. I totally understand what you are saying. It's the episode I always start new people off with if they are skittish about trying Supernatural. If they don't find something to like in A Very SPN Christmas, then they aren't ever going to like SPN. Of course most people just get hooked right away.
ReplyDeleteGlad you found something that works for you. Best Buy has certainly gotten its share of money from me. I also always check Best Buy for the Supernatural DVDs when they first come out. They usually add in a special extra goodie.
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising
ReplyDeleteIn the Beginning
Appointment in Samarra
Good God Y'All
The Berrisford Agenda episode was my fav. So heartbreaking. I cried the first time I saw the scene with Alec by the bedside of the girl he loved. :(
ReplyDeleteFaster is better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I read that when they were doing spoilers for that episode and it made me more excited about it. OK, that's it. You've officially made me nostalgic for Dark Angel, season 2. Once I get caught up on quotes, I'm breaking out the DA Dvd's.

..for me the third poll was very hard because i like both..but i choose 99 for the castiel drunk scene it was amazing & hillarius
ReplyDeleteI'm itching to watch Dark Angel now too. lol
ReplyDeleteThe Magnificent Seven Quotes:
ReplyDelete15. Dean: "Well Jenny if you uh look as pretty as you sound, I'd love to have an appletini. Yeah…call you."14. Sam: "You know what, I've had it. I've been bending over backwards trying to be nice to you and I don't care anymore." Dean: "That didn't last long." 13. Sam: "You're unbelievable." Dean: "Very true."12. Sam: "So what? He…he just walks up to someone, touches them, and they go stark raving psycho or something?"11. Envy: "Yah fun. See some people crochet. Others golf. Me, I like to see people's insides on their outside." 10. Sam: "No, not at all. You deserve to have a little fun." Dean: "Well I'm in violent agreement with you there."9. Isaac: "You guys seem nice enough but this ain't Scooby-Doo and we don't play well with others." 8. Bobby: "So we're eating bacon cheeseburgers for breakfast are we?" Dean: "Well, sold my soul. Got a year to live. I ain't sweating the cholesterol."7. Dean: "I'm just going to ask it again. Who was that masked chick?"6. Sam: "Let me see your knife." Dean: "What for?" Sam: "So I can gouge my eyes out." Dean: "It was a beautiful and natural act Sam." Sam: 'It's a part of you I never wanted to see Dean." 5. Isaac: "No offense but we're not teaming with the damn fools who let the devil's gate get opened in the first place." Dean: "No offense." Tamara: "Isaac, like you've never made a mistake." Isaac: "Oh yeah, yeah. Locked my keys in the car. Turned my laundry pink. Never brought on the end of the world though."4. Bobby: "Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life son."3. Dean: "What's in the box? Brad Pitt…Se7en. No?"2. Dean: "I've got a year to live Sam. I'd like to make the most of it. So what do you say we kill some evil SOB's and we raise a little hell, huh." 1. Dean: "Truth is I'm tired Sam and I don't know, it's like there's uh a light at the end of the tunnel." Sam: "It's hellfire Dean."
all easy picks
ReplyDeletelazarus rising
in the beginning
appointment in samarra (on of my favourite episodes)
and skin (another amazing episode)
Man that was good! Thank you. I desperately need some Alec in my life right now. The cheapest I see Dark Angel season 2 is Target and WalMart for $25 but it usually goes on sale around the holidays. I think I got my copy for $15. Unfortunately Hulu doesn't have it and Netflix doesn't stream it.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's all pretty easy today except for one.
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising which for me contained the most beautiful hug on television.
From the moment Dean pushed unceremoniously past Ruby until the actual long emotional reunion hug with Sam. So so beautiful, Sigh!
X
In the Beginning gets it.
Free To be You and Me is on the black list of myy most disliked episodes. It was distressing, depressing and sad. The only good part were Sam's moments with Lindsey who was very sweet to him and although she knew nothing of his pain she managed to give him a moment of comfort. Then I felt Sam's pain when Lucifer told him that he would be his vessel and that even if he killed himself he coundn't escape his destiiny.
I don't know whether it's just me but the episodes I don't like are those that I seem to remember the best. Huh!
X
I'm a bit torn here because I liked 99 Problems and while Appointment in Samarra has Death and Sam trying to kill Bobby, i found the whole hospital drama part a bit clichèd.
When I judge an epiosde I always try to think on the first time I watched it and 99 Problems
was interesting. It had some good action and fight scenes and the way the Pastor's daughter was managing to turn the townspeople one against the other was chilling.
Then the idea of Dean as heaven's weapon was intriguing.
I'll give it to 99 Problems.
X
Skin,
because the other ep had that horrible heart-breaking scene at the end where Dean tells Sam that they would be better apart.I quite enjoyed the rest of the episode but that moment just killed me!
Lazarus Rising - just a stunning episode, in my top 5;
ReplyDeleteIn the Beginning - lets say this one made me think about the whole story in the new light;
Appointment in Samarra - Death, Balthazar, Tessa and even Mr. Kruger :) and many other things to like about this ep;
Good God Y'All - here i vote for the episode that i will be sad that it will lose, on the other hand i loved the beginning scene in "Skin" with the music of Iron Butterfly.
I picked the same as well. I thought these polls were suppose to be hard. No poll has given me any trouble or come out in an unexpected way, YET!
ReplyDeleteVoted for Lazarus Rising, Free To Be You And Me, 99 Problems, and Skin. All great episodes. In particular, they all had fantastic plotting, progression from beginning to end. Lucifer Rising starts with Dean alone and ends on Sam alone (with Ruby). FTBYAM, from separation to each facing what being alone means for them, Dean all alone in the car, Sam with Lucifer. 99 Problems as a progression of Dean's faith, from thinking the townspeople were justified in bowing down to angel decrees to deciding to give himself up. Skin, Sam letting go of his personal connections.
ReplyDeleteOnly struggle was God God Y'all. Excellent episode, but Skin is a classic to me.
In The Beginning bored me and I haven't seen Of Grave Importance. Appointment in Samara, I didn't like. It made no sense to me that Dean wouldn't understand the natural order enough to know that sick kids die. And it made even less sense that he'd be so careless as to risk that move when Sam's soul was on the line. And while I adore Death, I felt his presence in this episode and on so personal a matter cheapened the character a bit.
Oh somebody else who hates that line. I hate it too. I get that it makes sense in context of the episode, but as line it was just kind of disturbing. It's a shame too because if it weren't for that line, that scene with Dean and Cas would be one of my favorites. LOL leave it to spn to throw in some annoyingly misogyny to ruin a scene. ;)
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising - I've said it before, this one shares the spot of my favorite episode ever with The End.By far the best premiere.Dean's reunions with Bobby and,of course,Sam were beautiful. The best thing though, was the build up for the ending, with some really ominous scenes and lines.Pamela's eyes burning out of her skull, the demons looking scared of whatever it was that saved Dean, and some awesome quotes:
ReplyDeleteSam: "You saw it.What was it?" Demon: "It's the end. We're dead,we're all dead!"
Ruby: "The sky bleeds, the ground shakes,it's cosmic."
And then, the most epic character introduction in the history of TV.I can't wait till we reach the quotes for this one!
In the Beginning - I like both episodes, but this one has a slight edge.I loved how we finally got to see the connection between Mary,Azazel and Sam.And the guest stars were awesome.Matt Cohen,Amy Gumenick and of course,Mitch Pileggi. That was back when the appearance of Samuel Campbell didn't make me groan.Good times!
Appointment in Samarra - 99 Problems was cool too,but there's no contest.Death,Tessa,Dean as Death,Balthazar,Sam going after Bobby.Epicness all over the place.
Good God Y'All - I'm fine with either episode winning, but this one had Ellen,Jo,Rufus,War and the Horsemen came into the game and lots of action,so it gets my vote.

15. Dean: "Yeah in fact I hear 6 Flags is great

Best night of my life Dean."

9. Dean: "Yeah I don't know. It's weird you know, your life…I mean this

recently and uh anyway a guy in my situation you start to think you know. I'm going to be gone one day and what am I

Lisa: "I don't know. Ben may not be your kid but he wouldn't be
alive if it wasn't for you. That's a lot
if you ask me."
8. Sam: "So what do you know about

7. Sam: "Uh, I was just ordering a
pizza." Dean: "Dude, you do realize that you're in a
restaurant."
6. Sam: "That knife you had. You can kill demons with that
thing." Ruby: "Sure comes in handy when I have to
swoop in and save the damsel in distress."
5. Dean: "Okay Weirdy McWeirderson."
4. Ruby: "Right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
Ding dong the demon's dead. Good
job with that. Doesn't change the fact
that you're special in that Anthony Michael Hall ESP vision kind of way."
3. Dean: " Come on. Smile Sam.
God knows I'm going to be smiling after 24 hours with Gumby Girl. Gumby Girl.
Does that make me Pokey?"
2. Ruby: "Not much gets by you huh. Um, these are amazing. It's like deep fried crack. Try some."
1. Dean: "Great, well we'll just bust in, drag
the kids out, torch them on the front lawn.
That'll play great with the neighbors.
"
Glad to hear it. Round 1 is usually easy and in many cases, round 2 also. From round 3 until the end though it usually gets pretty hard unless you have your top 10 episodes down cold.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to see Death Takes a Holiday say around a little longer too. Oh well. I agree that Lazarus Rising had the best brother hug. Second would be Like a Virgin to me.
ReplyDeleteAiS really did have excellent guest stars. Robert Englund was a treasure as the mad doctor. I also loved the music for Skin, probably my favorite episode music as a whole since I thought all the song choices were inspired, especially In-a-Gaddah-Di-Vida and Hey Man Nice Shot.
ReplyDelete"That was back when the appearance of Samuel Campbell didn't make me groan.Good times!" My sentiments exactly. The hellfire line is absolutely classic and summed everything up with deadpan humor. Loved it. As for TKAA - Ruby got most of the good lines. I always forget how snarky she was in the beginning. I still didn't like her from her Ninja Tree Girl intro on, but she had some wicked cool lines. As for Lazarus Rising, I will be in complete minority because the "raise you from perdition" line won't be in my top 5, but it will be the most nominated.
ReplyDeleteLazerus Rising-an all round excellent episode. OGI was boring and easily forgettable.
ReplyDeleteFree To Be-Sam's scene at the end with Lucifer was one of the best moments of season 5 and I liked how he fought the hunters in the bar trying to force demon blood down his throat. Plus it had Jess sorta and shirtless Sam in bed! Plus an awsome opening montage to one of my favourite songs. The stuff with Raphael was good the episode could have done without the stupidity of Castiel and the stupid whore house stuff. I usually skip past all the Dean/Cas scenes when I rewatch. I liked ITB but its not an episode I ever rewatch simply because of the lack of Sam on screen, but I liked learning the reason why Mary said 'Sorry' to Sam in Home and how she knew the demon. I just thought it was important that Sam know the truth more so than Dean but whatever.
Samarra- wasnt a great episode, I mostly found it too predictable and a little boring hoever 99 was entirely too forgetable.
Skin-I love the earlier episodes, I liked the MOTW and I loved the brothers ineraction in the episode. GGY was pretty forgettable other than Sam and Dean parting ways at the end and War's scene with Sam. I do remember War had a really cool car though.
I didn't have a problem with Dean's reaction to the sick kid. Dean has always had a soft spot for kids and to "kill" one himself would cause a strong reaction in him. I found this one to be very in character.
ReplyDeleteLazarus Rising, In the Beginning, Appointment in Samarra, Skin.
ReplyDeleteQuotes:
The Magnificent Seven:
Dean: "Truth is I'm tired Sam and I don't know, it's like there's uh a
light at the end of the tunnel." Sam: "It's hellfire Dean."
Dean: "I've got a year to live Sam. I'd like to make the most of it.
So what do you say we kill some evil SOB's and we raise a little hell,
huh."
The Kids are Alright:
Dean: "Great, well we'll just bust in, drag the kids out, torch them on
the front lawn. That'll play great with the neighbors."
Sam: "Uh, I was just ordering a pizza." Dean: "Dude, you do realize that you're in a
restaurant."
Thanks, I just kept clicking on things until I found it. ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, yeah me too, it has been a long time since I re-watched it. Like I need something else to get involved in.

The "raise you from perdition" is a classic, but there are other lines in the same scene that I like better. And then there are those I wrote above. It'll be tough to choose.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I've been busy rewatching episodes of SPN in my spare time and have a number of other shows on DVD. A lot of them I haven't gotten a chance to watch on DVD at all yet and it's made more than a year for some.
ReplyDelete1.Lazarus Rising
ReplyDelete2.Free to be Me and You .I can never vote for ITB in anything
3.Appointment in Samarra
4.Good God Y'All but I do love Skin but Good God had a scene I loved in it .
I have started season 2 of Dark Angel, and forgot how good Jensen is in this. Do check out half.com and pick it up.
ReplyDeleteI put in season 2 of Dark Angel, had forgotten how good Jensen is in this. You need to check out half.com and get this series.
ReplyDeleteI'm current with the show, but I didn't care much for the last few seasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to buy it but I don't have a credit card. I do have a gift card for Amazon.com and I'm buying it as soon as I can. I have to make sure I'm around when the package arrives.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I actually watched Bloody Valentine. But I feel I must CMA...'check out anything he's in' doesn't necessarily mean watch the whole thing. :-)
ReplyDeleteAccording to interviews I heard/read at the time...apparently Dark Angel technically did get picked up for a third season. Then FOX decided to go with Firefly instead so they un-picked up Dark Angel.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't realized that! kewl! Just spotted an announcement that Meghan Ory will be a series regular on OUAT next season.
ReplyDeleteThat was the ep that put him on my list. It was an awesome performance with some really great material.
Now I'm gonna have to dust off my DVDs.
Ha! I watched My Bloody Valentine several times dragging different groups of people to see it,. Well not to see it but to see Jensen Ackles so they could stop looking at me like I was speaking a different language when I talked about his acting. Trust me, if Jensen got a shiny new toy after that movie came out, I paid for part of it.
ReplyDeleteIf that's the case then it is another big red X on Firefly for me. I know it has a rabid fan base, but I would have rather seen another season of Alec. (Not Max.) I thought Firefly was decent but nothing that would have ever been appointment TV for me, even with Nathan Fillion.
ReplyDeleteMy rant on that score is loud and long. The network screwed over both shows.
ReplyDeleteI bought My Bloody Valentine in 3-D and this was before 3D TVs and it was as good on my TV as it was in the movies. I liked Jensen in this.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge Firefly fan, but I also would have gone with Jensen.
