Supernatural - Ultimate Episode Round 1F - Polls

9 Jun 2012

In Round 1E, it was a very good day for solid mytharc episodes. Heading to round 2 will be Changing Channels, Simon Said, Croatoan, and Jus in Bello. We say goodbye to Sex and Violence, Live Free or Twihard (44% of the vote), Dead Man's Blood, and Nightmare. Today should prove a bit harder for most. After a slip up in the last round, my predictions were back to 100% but depending on who shows up to vote, I could be facing my biggest prediction flub today. This one's packed with divisive episodes.

Quotes nominations start again. Today we have Tall Tales and Roadkill. Tall Tales is particularly filled with quotables. Should be interesting to see which ones are the favorites. I'm also starting a new list of future poll suggestions since the one from midseason has relocated to places unknown. If you have ideas, please include them in the comments. This time I'm computerizing the list so I can't lose it. :-) As always, spreading the word and commenting are the salt and holy water of the internet. Happy voting!

  1. Hard for a totally different reason today.  I dislike or find meh almost every episode in this poll.

    1.  The Rapture - by a hair since I really can't stand Born-Again Identity.  At times watching this episode, I felt like I was the one being targeted by Lucifer.  One of the few post-season 5 episodes that has scenes that make my stomach crawl as I reach for something to throw at the screen.

    2.  How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters - This episode is severely undervalued.  Not only was it the funniest episode in season 7, but it also had a ton of action, advanced the mytharc, and was poignant in places.  Plus it lead to Death's Door.    The title is far too long, but it's one of my favorite episodes.

    3.  no vote yet

    4.  Like a Virgin - by default.  I put Monster at the End of This Book in the same category as The Girl Next Door.  It introduced horrible subplots that we simply could not escape.  More toxic than mercury poisoning, this is the episode that put the nail in season 4's coffin for me.  If it's at all possible, I avoid this episode.

  2. What was so bad about Monster at the End of This Book? I'm not planning to argue with you, I'm just curious.

  3. Except for my first vote - today is the day of ridiculously long titles.

The Rapture - I don't hold either of these episodes in a special place, but of the two I much prefer The Rapture. Sam's blood-addiction is revealed and this episode marks the beginning of the end of season 4. Born-Again Identity was so hard for me to watch. I was resentful half the time because it was too much for one episode...and once again Sam and Dean were apart for most of it. Ah well.
How to Win Friends - I liked that in I Know What You Did Last Summer we got to see what Sam went through when Dean went to hell, but it was also hard to watch as far as we were into season 4. Sometimes I lament that we only saw these brief flashbacks from Sam...BUT I loved How to Win Friends, and a big reason for that was the misdirection! The episode was blatantly advertised as one thing and then turned into something totally different and I loved that about it. I also felt, for maybe the first time in my history with the show, real fear and danger in the moments leading up to Bobby being shot. And, it was with good reason.

The Girl with the Tat - I thoroughly enjoyed Girl, and loved Charlie. Maybe it's cause I'm a Felicia Day fan outside of SPN, but she was so cute. I also loved James Patrick Stuart in this episode - he is such a scene chewer and I cannot imagine anyone else as Dick Roman! Also - Charlie has the best line here with, "Is this real life?" hahaha! Two and Half Men was fun for the Dean with a baby moments, but I think Girl is just a better episode overall.

Monster Book - I am a big fan of this episode, and love meeting Chuck and the laundry scene. I am also a fan of Like A Virgin simply because SAM IS BACK! The plot of Like a Virgin is TERRIBLE, but the brothers reuniting, and Sam being Sam again, makes it awesome. Monster wins the poll though, because  I think it's a solid episode all-around, while Like a Virgin is only 1/2-1/3 good.

    Still behind on quotes. Ugh.

  4. Dont you hate meta, too?

  5. How To Win Friends is a brilliant episode! Not my favorite of the season, but in the top 5 for sure. I can't think of a single nit-pick other than not enough Sam and Dean talking to each other.

haha! You really do not like Monster, do you? Was it the Chuck/prophet stuff? I thought Chuck was great, but probably because I think Rob Benedict is great.

  6. Same choices as you this round, and since I feel lazy, I'm pinching your reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  7. LOL!
    I'm happy to share :D

  8. Feel free to argue with me.  I have strong opinions on these episodes, and they are all in the minority.  What's wrong with MatEoTB?  In a word...Chuck.  In two words....meta nightmare.  The premise of this episode was so ludicrous to me that I could not get over it.  I hated the Chuck character as much as Adam, probably because Adam may have annihilated a plot 2 seasons in the making but at least he didn't bring friends to annoy me.  Chuck is responsible for Becky.  This episode is also responsible for making the notion of Wincest canon.  I felt the meta was high handed and poorly executed, by far the worst of them all.  The story within a story clumsy and I still can't believe that they targeted a real Supernatural poster and basically said screw you.  When I first started posting about Supernatural, there were many times when simpatico and I backed each other up about what we did and did not like.  The entire episode takes me out of the Supernatural world.  Instead of being immersed in their world, I am reminded that its a TV show I'm watching and a particularly poor episode of it to boot.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am not a fan of meta for meta's sake at all.  I only consider 3 episodes as truly meta episodes (MatEoTB, Real Ghostbusters, and French Mistake) and the only one I enjoyed was French Mistake.  Even then I didn't like it as much as most people.  The other two I loathe.

However, little meta digs are usually okay depending on how they are executed.  I'm working on quotes for Hollywood Babylon and the Gilmore Girls line makes me laugh even as it takes me out of the episode because they made Jared's reaction way too big for the scene.  It really depends on how they approach it.  I loved the pea soup line at the end of Usual Suspects.  It was understated and that's how I prefer my meta.  If you didn't know who Linda Blair was, it would be a toss-off line.  Perfect execution because it doesn't drop an anvil on your head while getting to the punchline.

  10. The Rapture - Born Again is watchable mainly because of Meg/Cas.  The rapture has a lot of great, dark stuff in it.  Season 4 is the only season that Supernatural did dark consistently well.

I Know What You Did... - How To Win is a decent episode but there aren't many episodes that can convince me to vote against a good* S4 episode.
*("Good" does not include, Metamorphosis, Monster Movie, Family Remains, Sex and Violence, or Jump the Shark)

Dungeons/Dragons -  2.5 Men is a wholly unremarkable episode so D&D wins by default.

Monster at the End... - This was a close one.  Both Monster and Virgin are mixed bags but in the end I just can't vote for a SPN episode about dragons.  That was off-the-charts stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I adored How to Win Friends....and it's one of the few that I really don't understand why not everyone votes for it.  It has a little bit of everything in it so no matter why you like SPN there should be a part of the episode that drags you in.  It's kind of like A Very SPN Christmas in that regard.  Something for everybody.  The only thing I don't like is typing out the ridiculously long title.  This will be a bigger lose to the contest in my opinion than The Kids Are Alright, which is currently my most mourned episode.

With the exception of Mark Sheppard whom I can't ever see as being a bad thing on a show, I tend to be pretty good at separating my feelings about actors from my feelings about characters. I like Rob Benedict but loathe Chuck.  I adore Misha Collins, but Castiel is way past his expiration date on my screen.  I think Dick Speight Jr is adorable and I loved Gabriel, but I do not want Gabriel to come back no matter how awesome his episodes were.  My favorite character many times was Bobby and I think Jim Beaver is awesome, but I am thrilled that they got rid of Ghost Bobby.  For me the plot is the gold standard (besides of course Dean and Sam).  If a character no longer services the plot, then it's time for the character to leave.  To create unnecessarily complicated plots and yet another resurrection just to bring back a fan favorite character does a disservice to the show in my opinion.  The heart of the story is Dean and Sam for me.  All others revolve around them.  Once they are no longer logically tied to the Winchester story, they go and new people take their place.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The Born-Again Identity is one of the best episodes of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree with you completely about everything you said here. Especially about HTWFAIM. A really, really great episode that should get all the love, especially with what it's up against. I Know What You Did Last Summer is good, but nowhere near as good as How To.

I also totally agree about the guest stars. If a character isn't integral to the plot, they needn't be brought back to the show or, in the case of everyone on this list (save Castiel - who has also outstayed his welcome on my screen, too), resurrected. Though...I have to admit if Bobby came back (not as ghost, mind you) I'd be thrilled to death. I love Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Also? Mark Sheppard is one of a very few actors that can do so many difference guest starring roles and make me believe he's a different person each time. He's really great :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ah, like the one in Slash Fiction where Dick says that Sam and Dean coming back again would stretch belief.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Aww, Monster Movie a classic and fun from beginning to end.  I liked Sex and Violence too, but the other three I completely agree with.  Of course my "not good" list from season 4 is far more extensive than yours.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The only one I am passionate about is How to Win Friends...too, although I also like TGwtD&DT.  2.5 Men, Like a Virgin, and IKWYDLS are on my decent list.

I thoroughly enjoyed Felicia Day on D&D Tat.  In fact, I'm not sure I would have liked the episode if she weren't in it.  I love the idea of the Winchesters having a hacker friend.  I'm sure she will be back.  The only thing keeping me from voting for it is that it comes smack in the middle of me being tired of the Winchesters being spectators in their own story.  This is probably the most blatant example of that writing flaw.  The Winchesters are relegated to the van while the girl and the ghost take care of business.  As much as I laughed throughout this episode and I loved all the geek chic references, I can't seem to click that vote button.  My guess is I will end up voting no vote on this one and D&D Tat will get in by a landslide.

As far as quotes go, Adam told me that the Best Show Contest will start in about a week and a half.  Then we will take a break from these polls and nominations.  It should give everyone time to catch up on polls and hopefully get a bit ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That was an awesome comment that had me rolling.  One of the best meta lines this show has ever done.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yay for catching up time! Boo for pausing these polls; they are the best part of my day :D

I totally understand where you're coming from with D&DTat - and I would hazard to guess that if Genevieve hadn't been due to have her baby when that episodes filming was scheduled that it probably/likely would have been more heavy on the Sam and Dean involvement. I don't know if that can count as a pass or not, though...in any case, I would love to see Charlie pop up again at least once, if not twice in the coming season(s). She's the kind of character that they need as an ally, but one who they randomly meet/run into. I think I would find that pretty amusing. hehe.

  20. The Born-Again Identity
I Know What You Did Last Summer
The Girl With The Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo
The Monster at the End of This Book

    ReplyDelete
  21. This was easy for me.

Poll 1: "The Born-Again Identity" - For inspiring someone on youtube (ccmrose) to make this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_R13_GRCSU&feature=autoplay&list=PL3C5E9D78DBF6C901&playnext=19

Plus I just love Castiel's return in general. Lots of emotion in the episode between Sam breaking down, and Dean finding out Cas was alive and Cas remembering. I usually prefer action episodes but an episode doesn't need to be jammed packed for me if Dean, Sam, Cas, and/or Bobby are focused on like that.

Poll 2: Went Against Popularity and voted "How To Win Friends and Influence Monsters" because I like that episode more.

Poll 3: "The Girl With The Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo" because of the showdown with Dick.

Poll 4: "The Monster At The End Of This Book" because I love Chuck, and despite being funny most of the episode, there was some pretty serious stuff as well. Loved Sam and Chuck's discussion and Cas sneakily telling Dean how to get an archangel to go after Lilith.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree about the Meta thing. That I didn't care for.

If it wasn't for the more serious stuff, Dean and Sam's reactions, and the fact I feel different about Chuck only because he cracks me up, I'd agree 100%. It's because I don't like Meta because we're drawn out of their world, that I don't care for The French Mistake. And I absolutely hate The Real Ghostbusters. Yeah, Becky has got to be the worst character.

  23.  We have a huge difference of opinion when it comes to Monster Movie.  That episode is in my top five all-time worst SPN episodes.

  24. Some day we are going to have to find a way for everyone to share their top and bottom lists.  I think it would be great fun to see just how different everyone's are and of course discuss why.  If I remember right several of my top choices are at the bottom for you.

  25. Tall Tale Quotes:  This episode has some of the best sight gags and reaction shots of all.

    15.  Jen:  "No, but they say she jumped from room 669.  Get it?  You turn the 9 upside down.  So now she haunts the building, and anyone who sees her…they don't live to tell the tale."  Curtis:  "Well if no one lives to tell the tale then how does the tale get told."  14.  Classy Chick:  "My God, you are attractive."  Dean:  "Thanks, but no time for that now.  You need to tell me about this urban legend.  Please.  Lives are at stake."  Classy Chick:  "Sorry, I just…I can't even concentrate.  It's like staring into the sun."13.  Sam:  "You know, how would you feel if I screwed with the Impala?"  Dean:  "It would be the last thing you ever did."12.  Dean:  "What the hell?"  Sam:  "I don't know."  Dean:  "No seriously dude.  What the hell?"  Sam:  "I don’t' know.  I mean first the haunting.  Now this.  The timing alone, there's got to be some kind of a connection here."  Dean:  "You mean between the angry spirit and the sexed up ET?  What could the connection possibly be?"11.  Sam:  "Dude, were you on my computer?"  Dean:  "No."  Sam:  "Oh really cuz it's frozen now on uh Busty Asian Beauties.com……Dean, would you…just don’t touch my stuff anymore, OK."  Dean:  "Why don't you control your OCD?"  10.  Sam:  "Dude, you know something, I've put up with a lot from you."  Dean:  "What are you talking about?  I'm a joy to be around."9.  Sam:  "Hey, give me back my money."  Dean:  "Oh no, no.  Consider it reparations for uh emotional trauma."8.  Sam:  "Yeah….Look Dean, um..I just want to say that I'm uh, um."  Dean:  "Hey, me too."  Bobby:  "You guys are breaking my heart.  Could we please just leave?"7.  Dean:  "Hey , good news.  She's got a sister."6.  Dean:  "Just your typical haunted campus alien abduction alligator in a sewer gig.  Yes, simple."  5.  Bobby:  "Come on, now you're bickering like an old married couple."  Dean:  "No see, married couples can get divorced.  Me and him…we're like, uh, Siamese twins."  Sam:  "It's conjoined twins."  Dean:  "See what I mean."  4.  Curtis:  "And that's not even the worst of it."  Dean:  "How can it get any worse?  Some alien made you his b**."  Curtis:  "They…they made me…slow dance."  3.  Sam:  "But I want you to know, I'm here for you, you brave little soldier.  I acknowledge your pain.  Come here.  You're too precious for this world."2.  Dean:  "What's wrong with my food?"  Sam:  "It's not food anymore Dean.  It's Darwinism."  1.  Sam:  "Dean this is a very serious investigation.  We don't have time for any of your blah, blah, blah, blah!"

    ReplyDelete
  26. Roadkill Quotes:

    12.  Molly:  "So if you manage to put Greeley to rest too, what happens to him?"  Dean:  "Lady that answer is way beyond our pay grade."  Molly:  "You hunt these things but you don't know what happens to them?"  Dean:  "Well they never come back.  That's all that matters."11.  Sam:  "Tell him what?  That you love him.  That you're sorry.  Molly, he already knows that.  Look, if you want to go in there, we're not going to stop you."  Dean:  "Yeah but you are going to freak him right out…for life."  10.  Dean:  "We weren't just cruising for chicks when we ran into you sister.  We were already out here.  Hunting."  Molly:  "Hunting for what?"  Dean:  "Ghosts."  Sam:  "Da..Da..Don't sugarcoat it for her."9.  Dean:  "It means that plan A was trying to get you out of here.  Obviously that didn’t go over to well with uh Farmer Roadkill."8.  Molly:  "Oh come on.  Isn't this argument a little archaic?  Men can ask directions these days."  David:  "Oh no, no, no we can't.  It's against our genetic code.  7.  Dean:  "Sammy's always getting a little J Lo Hewitt when it comes to things like this.  Me, I don't like 'em and I sure as hell ain't making apologies for them. "6.  Dean:  "Did he look like he lost a fight with a lawnmower?"  Molly:  "How did you know that?"  Dean:  "Lucky guess."5.  Dean:  "You know just once I'd like to round the corner and see a nice house."  4.  Dean:  "It smells like old lady in here…..and that would explain why."3.  Molly:  "You're looking for Greeley's grave?"  Sam:  "Yeah."  Molly:  "Why?"  Dean:  "So we can dig up the corpse and salt and burn it."  Molly:  "Oh.  Sure.  Naturally."  2.  Dean:  "Hey.  Follow the creepy brick road."  1.  Dean:  "You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness."

  27.  I like that idea.  It wouldn't surprise me if our choices were on opposite lists because, most of the time, we seem to differ greatly in what we value in a SPN episode.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The first is easy.
I don't go for any of them, so I will leave the voting to the aficionados.
If I was forced to vote I would give it to the Rapture and I still might as I dislike the other one even more.
    X
    X
Definitely "What did you do last Summer".
I was really interested in what happened to Sam while Dean was in Hell; and  the depths of guilt, pain and misery he had fallen to with his brother's death was painful to watch, although we had seen it all before in Mystery Spot.
One of the high points in this episode for me was the boys' jump from the Church window and the subsequent scene of them talking frankly together and patching each other up, and I was happy that this time Sam wasnt on his own,  as in Mystery Spot, but had Dean's company.
    X
    X
I vote Two And A Half Men.
The brothers' real first case together after Season Five.
It was interesting, cute, we get to know about alphas and start to suspect that Samuel is even creepier and more untrustworthy than we thought.
We get Sam on Sam and Dean on Dean. Double delicious!

Then we get one of my favourite little moments.
The one at the end where Dean uncovers the Impala and the camera does that sort of staccato dance around it and ultimately shows us Dean's happy face.
I love watching this episode because I know I'm going to feel good at the end! :)

TGWTDADT is one of those eps.where the Winchesters need secondary characters to do their work for them, and that's not how I like it.!
    X
    X
I vote Like a Virgin although I felt there was something missing to make the episode really click.
Maybe if we had gotten sight of a " real" dragon it would have been more believable.
However there was a lot going on.
Sammy gets his soul back. We meet Eleanor, our first Purgatory inhabitant. We get the funny scene with Dean trying to pull out the sword and finally the Winchesters get to put some gold in their forever empty piggy-bank.

TMATEOTB is the meta episode I an most comfortable with as it has a couple of good scenes in it, but it still remains near bottom on my list.
    X
    X
However I see that my season six episodes are losing, as have a great numer of my preferred eps up till now. Well you win some, you lose some! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. So many good quotes I don't know how I'll ever choose only two from this episode!

    ReplyDelete
  30. This episode was terrific and apart from the hilariousness of it, I loved how we got glimpses of "Life With The Winchesters"  which the two following quotes illustrate so well. :)

I just love to see how thay pass their time when not on hunts;  that's why I adore the laundry scene in TMATEOTB because we get a snapshot of the practicalities of their daily life.:)

I have only one complaint with this episode.
From start to finish it was only 36 to 37 minutes long. One of the shortest eps on my DVDs.
They could have given us another trickster prank to bring it up to at least 40 mins.
    X

Bobby: You're bickering like an old married couple.

Dean: No, see, married couples can get divorced. Me and him? We're like, Siamese twins.
    Sam: It's conjoined twins.

    Dean: See what I mean?
    X
Sam: Your dirty socks in the sink! Your food in the fridge!

Dean: What's wrong with my food?
Sam: It's not food anymore, Dean! It's Darwinism!
    X
    X
    X
Roadkill while a respectable episode didn't inspire me particularly but I liked the first quote.
I love it when the older episodes are unknowingly prophetic of future ones and boy, did Sam and Dean take the plunge into the after-life; a multitude of times too!
    X
Sammy knows weird stuff. Enough said!
    X
Dean: I guess she wasn't so bad. For a ghost. You think she's really going to a better place?

    Sam: I hope so.
Dean: I guess we'll never know. Not until we take the plunge ourselves, huh?

Sam: It doesn't really matter, Dean. Hope's kind of the whole point.
    X
Dean: You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness.

...dahne..about the first poll ..those are the best of castiel centric episode for each season..i choose rapture..but the winner will be born- again

    ReplyDelete
  32. So, decided to give SpoilerTV a shot again, and no better way than to participate in the Ultimate Episode polls so efficiently and kindly organised by Dahne! Lots of easy choices for me today:

    1. Born-Again Identity: I really enjoyed this episode, despite the fact that I'm fairly ambivalent about the Cas storyline this year. I absolutely adore the Hallucifer one though, and Jared's acting in this one clinched it for me! It's been a while since I've watched The Rapture, but I remember it as being a solid, angsty episode. It just lost out here because I really did love BAI.

    2. How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters: I loved this one as well, some really lovely Bobby/boys moments, serious advancement of the mytharc for this season, plus it set us up for the awesome that is Death's Door. And let's not forgetten Dean high on Turducken sandwiches! :D IKWYDLS was good, I loved getting to see some of what Sam was up to while Dean was in hell, but it can't hold a candle to HtWFaIM.

    3. The Girl With the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo: no contest here either! Two and a Half Men was an okay episode, and watching Dean handle a baby will never get less cute, but on the other hand, Charlie and a heist-style episode which reminded me more than a little of Leverage, another of my favourite shows.

    4. Like a Virgin: I seem to be very much in the minority here, which surprised me a bit! I enjoyed this episode more for the rekindling of the boys brotherly relationship (plus that truly epic brother hug) than for the actual MotW. The humour was fantastic after the relatively bleak S6 mid-season stretch, and I honestly enjoyed it so much. I also like MatEotB, as I am a fan of Chuck (despite the fact that he also introduced us to Becky) and his introduction episode is quite good, but it doesn't hold a candle to Like a Virgin IMO.

  33. two good castiel episodes against each other...i went with the rapture!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I voted for The Born Again Identity but it was only for the Sam parts. In the second poll I voted for I Know What You Did Last Summer. Neither episodes I am a big fan of but I think IKWYDLS has the edge. Third I voted for Two And A Half Men. I loved watching Sam and Dean trying to take care of that shapeshifter baby. Fourth I voted for The Monster At The End Of This Book. It was so funny them trying to not do what was written.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Born-Again Identity - Not an easy one for me,but I liked this one a little better.Lots of great scenes with Dean and Cas,Sam hunting in the hospital,Lucifer,Meg...Everyone did a great job.
The Rapture was also pretty good, though. After years of people being possessed on the show,it was cool to see Jimmy's reaction to the whole thing. And Sam's blood addiction finally became public knowledge.Sad to see it go.

I Know What You Did Last Summer - The combination of flashbacks and the race to find Anna in the present really worked for me.It was interesting to see what Sam went through while Dean was in Hell.
But How to Win Friends & Influence Monsters was also great.Shame we can't vote for both.

The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - Felicia Day and her one liners were awesome.Hope we get to see her again.

The Monster at the End of This Book - Loved the episode and Chuck. The boys trying to avoid doing what was written was amazing.

    Quotes

    Tall Tales:
    - Sam: "Dean, this is a very serious investigation. We don't have time for any of your blah, blah, blah, blah!

    - Dean: "What's wrong with my food?"
Sam: "It's not food anymore,Dean. It's Darwinism."

(While the episode has some great lines,I think the reactions are what made it so funny.)

    Roadkill:
    - Molly: "Oh,thank God!"
      Dean: "Call me,Dean."
(Okay,I admit,I may have used that line once or twice...)

    - Molly: "Isn't this argument a little archaic?Men can ask directions these days."
David: "Oh,no we can't.It's against our genetic code."

    Okay,I'm officially nostalgic for a lot of these episodes.I'm staring a marathon!A little more 120 days for 149 episodes.So easy!   : )

  36. So good to have you back my friend.  Thanks for commenting.  I liked Like a Virgin too.  Yeah the dragon plot was lame but the brothers together more than made up for that.  Plus Dean vs the rock to get the sword is some of the funniest physical comedy on the show.  I thought Dr. Visyak was a cool character too.

  37. It was a clever way to show Dean and Sam and a baby for sure.  I like that the fate of the baby was left ambiguous too.  I never really thought about monsters as infants before.  It was an interesting idea.

  38. When I watched Tall Tales for quotes, it surprised me how much of the comedy came from the physical instead of the dialogue.  There is less snark in it than I remembered but I laugh the whole way through every time I watch it.

I'm glad you were inspired to do a rewatch.  It's been quite interesting for me mostly because I have to really concentrate on the words in some episodes.

  39. It did strike me as odd when they landed opposite of each other in the first round.  I voted for the Rapture to.  I think we will be disappointed.

  40. Roadkill is one of those episodes that I tend to forget.  To this day, it is the episode with Tricia Helfer in it to me.  However, I'm glad I rewatched it because I completely forgot the "walking encyclopedia of weirdness" and "follow the creepy brick road" quotes.  The quotes poll is going to be hard because even those meh episodes have some good one liners.

  41. Agreed that there is nothing like double Winchesters.  That's one of the reasons why I adore Slash Fiction.  About half of the episodes I voted for are out already so I can definitely commiserate with you.

  42. I think you are right.  As much as I dislike Born-Again Identity, it is going to make it at least until the third round and it might go well beyond that.

  43. TGwtD&DT did a good job of showing why we should take the Leviathans seriously.  I only wish that it had come earlier in the season.

  44. The Rapture, How to Win Friends & Influence Monsters, The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo, Like a Virgin.

    Quotes:

Tall Tales ( so hard choose only 2 quotes):
Sam: "Hey, give me back my money." Dean: "Oh no, no. Consider it reparations for uh emotional trauma."

Sam: "Dean this is a very serious investigation. We don't have time for any of your blah, blah, blah, blah!"

    Roadkill:

Dean: "You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness."

Molly: "Oh come on.  Isn't this argument a little archaic? Men can ask
directions these days." David: "Oh no, no, no we can't. It's against
    our genetic code."

  45. Fro some reason French Mistake did not bother me as much.  Probably because I went in it expecting to watch it differently.  Normally I go in expecting to be part of the Winchester world for an hour.  I knew right up front that that was not going to happen in this one so I approached it differently.  Mostly meta bugs me because it yanks me in and out of that world and disrupts the experience for me.

  47. Mark Sheppard just incorporates characters so well.  Sometimes it feels like the characters were written with him in mind.  Can't wait for Leverage to start soon because I hear I'm going to see Sterling again and any Mark Sheppard is good by me.

  48. For me I shuffle between disbelief at the Sam scenes and irritation at most of the Cas scenes. It was lose-lose for me when I expected it to be at least a middle to upper middle episode.

  49. Good to see How to Win.... and Like a Virgin get some more love.
Whenever I hear the blah, blah, blah comment I burst out laughing.  I don't think I've laughed so hard so many times at any other scene on TV.  Still hilarious.

  50. very good news regarding Mr. Sterling :)
As for him in SPN, they should use his character more, there is a lot of potential in Crowley, and i love his interactions with S&D :)

  51. The Born-Again Identity - both episodes with the character(s) played by Misha Collins being in the center stage, so the winning factor for me is season 7 version of Lucifer;
How to Win Friends & Influence Monsters - this episode had the feel of the old seasons, a very solid episode; The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - this one reminded me of "Oceans eleven" movies, and even the lack of brothers actually doing something will not put me off too much - and at least they were clever (the smooth swap of suitcases);Like a Virgin - not a big fan of Chuck, so the winner for me is Dean vs. rock scene:)

  52. I'm really hoping that he will be next season's big bad and like YED he will last for 2 seasons.

  53. Season 7 Lucifer was definitely superior to season 5.  He was chilling and evil this season with a diabolical sense of humor.  Big step up.  The suitcase switch reminded me of White Collar and Leverage.  Since those are my #2 and #3 TV shows, it was all good.

  54. The Rapture, I enjoyed Jimmy and his story.
I Know What You Did Last Summer, I LOVE Anna and hated what she was later turned into.
The Girl etc, liked Charlie and would not mind seeing her again.
Like A Virgin, Dean and the sword, Jensen at his slap stick best.  Sam has his soul back.

  55. The born identity, last summer, dragon tattoo, and monster. all episodes of supernatural i always find awsome, but these were still my favorite.

  56. Welcome Jessica.  Thanks so much for sharing your choices.  I always have to clarify when I say that something is a "bad" episode of Supernatural.  Most of the time, bad for Supernatural is still better than almost everything else on TV.  They really do awesome very well.

  57. The slap stick humor of the rock was just what I needed after the heavy episodes that came before Like a Virgin.  I love it when the show finds its humor and that was SPN humor at its best.

  58.  I loved monster at the end of the book!

  59. How can I choose between the rapture & the born-again-identity ?  Love them both!

    The rapture offered us an unique perspective on Cas vessel and a great performance from Misha;

and the born-again-identity had Cas very welcomed return after a rather boring half season 7.

    Need to think about it.

  60.  I couldn't disagree more.
Season 7 Lucifer was just humor relief. It was fun but in no way frightening. It was not even really Lucifer, just a figment of Sam mind.

Season 5 Lucifer was evil & frightening. He wanted the end of the world. In "free to be Y&M" when he uses Jessica to invase Sam dreams; in "abandon all hope" when he looks at castiel like he is no more than a curiosity; or in "hammer of the gods" when he kills in a bloodbath mythical gods and Gabriel :'-(

  61.  I know, most of the time I am crying with them, but I laughed until I cried at Dean and the rock.  Very funny stuff and Jensen is so good at it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. For me, season 5 Lucifer was nothing more than another whiny baby with daddy issues.  He never scared me at all.  I kept thinking someone should put him and me out of our misery.  He was one of the biggest problems I had with the LamePocalypse, and consequently the entire season 5.
