Thanks to laura3341 for the heads up.
NBC has greenlit its first pilot for the next season, giving the go-ahead to a soapy thriller from Jerry Bruckheimer.
Based on Josie Brown's book The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives, Bruckheimer will executive produce the project under his deal with Warner Bros. Television. Sascha Penn will adapt the material and exec produce alongside Bruckheimer Television's Jonathan Littman; KristieAnne Reed will co-exec produce. The project was originally in development at ABC.
Secret Lives is described as equal parts thriller and dramatic soap that is centered on a murder and the secrets exposed in its aftermath. The project comes after Bruckheimer's drama pilot Trooper, starring Mira Sorvino, was passed over this pilot season at CBS.

This could end up to be quite the coup for NBC...
ReplyDeleteBruckheimer certainly knows how to produce TV series that get received well and Mira Sorvino is a quality actress!
I'm not sure it sounds like my cup of tea, too much sappy drama for my taste I think.
I am a sap for soapy dramas, so I think I'm gonna check this one out. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteso by next season you mean 2013/2014?
ReplyDeleteIf this gives a boost in ratings and viewership i think its great. They can certainly use all the help they can get..
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I'm still hoping that in the future, we can get the following shows greenlit for production:
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Life of the American Toddler
The Secret Lives of Grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles
The Secret Life of the Unemployed Recent College Graduate
So... now they're jumping on the "Revenge" train, eh?
ReplyDeleteMight be worth a look see....
ReplyDeleteSounds like Desperate Housewives meets Revenge.
