Awesome episode, the scene with Meloni shirtless wasn't long enough. Sorry I have major crush on him. Tara killing herself, I knew that was going to happen.
Pretty good ep. I really like Meloni as the Guardian and am intrigued by Salome and whatever her agenda might be... I am a bit confused about Nora confessing to be a Sanguanista, but I guess that will be explained in the eps to come. The Pam/Eric backstory has been ok, but so far it really hasn't explained why she is so fiercely devoted to him, but rather press and set up the explaination/responsibility of being a maker and the future relationship that Pam will have to have with Tara. I fully expected that it was Eric who saved her from some dire catastrophe (sure he saved her from the mugger)/ or she did for Eric and was mortally wounded, but instead she essentially forced his hand to turn her when he clearly didn't want to do it. I hope that we get to see more.
Gonna have to watch this ep again. Interesting. I knew Solome was playing Bill and Eric...interesting interrogation technique. :-) I thought Pam was going to go find Tara much sooner after we saw the flashback where Eric lecture her about being a maker. One of the things I'm loving so far this season is that Lafayette is in the middle of things. My big questions is "Will Jason really change this time?" :-) I'm liking this season better than last already. It feels like the stories won't be so disparate this season.
..for me was average all those biblical reference we suppose will be not an explanation with all future story develop because will be to laim please writers keep it hot but simple dont overloaded with crap
I think I am going to have to watch this one again. I was a bit confused both by Nora confessing and Salome's agenda. Not to mention that Eric explained what leaving a baby vamp. likened to why oh why did Pam abandon Tara? Poor of Sookie though, she just keeps digging her self deeper and deeper in a hole she was way better off in the company of Vamps than she is alone
...I know each character had a lot of confusing and deep stories behind them is not simple in the life for each character in his point of view we saw it threw there eyes
the crap I am talking is the salome reason to justify the head cut of the person how baptize jesus and the Lilith and god are vampire that’s a very cool but disturbing
I'm with you on Lafayette - I love how central he's been, though it makes sense with Tara's story line. Here's hoping it stays that way - he and Pam are two of my favorite parts of the entire series.
Sookie: I love how tough she's been! It's great to see her have some gumption and gain some control of her abilities! I know there are probably a lot of audience members who don't understand or give a darn about Sookie going after Tara, but I find it redeeming, and I am sure it will lead into a bigger mess...
Alcide: I was disappointed in his reaction. I think he should have been more understanding towards Sookie, especially since Sookie was going to tell him, and Lafayette butt in!
Salome: I don't trust her. I think she's aligned with Nora and Russell Edgington (or rather the faction that's anti-main streaming/co-existing with humans) I think the the interpretation of "sacred prostitute" seems accurate, and she has an agenda.
Nora: It seems like she's not going to be here too long, but I was curious about what she said about "bringing Lilith back from the dead to devour humanity"...The writers have had "The Guardian" bring up the peace conference and necromancy twice, so I think we might not be completely done with summing and bringing back the dead...
Jason: (It was so nifty to see "Anna Draper!) I think if it wouldn't have been for Jessica's blood last season, that Jason would have hit this low a lot sooner. I think what the ware panthers did him, really changed him, and forced him to ask what's important in life, since he was so abused and close to death. It makes me wonder of if the panthers are gonna resurface before the end of season?
Arlene: I feel SO bad for her, but I still think maybe Rene had something to do with 'ghosts' following Terry and the sooner Terry deals with it, the safer she will be.
Andy/Holly: Their relationship cracks me up! Holly has this problematic kids, and Andy is a recovering V addict and has an 'authority' problem, but I am also wondering when that Fea protection thing is going to kick in and screw everything up for them!
Jessica: Finally some deeper emotions! It was nice to see her just want to hang out with Jason (and YAY for the visit from SPOILER!!! Claude! Looks like Fea stuff is going on! END SPOILER
Tara: Well I am not fun of all the suffering, but I did like seeing the camera come from her perspective and to see all the things she sees and dramatically feels. The way she could see in the dark, how much greater the galaxy looks, and how she could home in on the heart beating of a small animal! --I am hoping after she is done with her suicidal tendencies, that she can have a good time, but boy Vampire Tara is intense!
Pam: And speaking of Suicidal tendencies, wasn't expecting Pam to black mail Eric by slitting her wrists! I don't know if I can buy that this is complete vanity in conjunction to avoiding repression, but until we get another explanation that seems to be the case! Also wasn't expecting Lorena and Bill to be apart of the flashback! -It was nice friendly reminder that Bill wasn't always on the side of main streaming and how primitive with Lorena he was...I hope Pam finally gets a little paternal, especially since Eric stressed how important the responsibility is
I liked the Tara stuff and how it links to Pam and Eric's history. I loved the flashback but everything else left me cold. Oh yawn yet again Jason tries to give up his sex addict ways.
Pretty meh episode for me. A few good laughs like Salome comparing the Bible to a tabloid or Entertainment rag.. and Pam complaining about Tara trying to kill herself at the end.
The Authority stuff was fairly boring to me this week honestly. I have no interest in any of the Authority yet and to see them interact with one another so much did little for me.
Tired of Jason more and more every episode, Andy too. Growing a bit tired of cheering for Arleen and Tara to die and having them be dreams or cliffhangers where you know they will be back in the next episode....
Was fun to see Mac from Veronica Mars as the Authority vamp tech expert... Apropos. XD
I was glad to see Alcide not give Sookie an inch. She has no reason to lie to him an every reason to confide in him... especially since it is all concerning his ex Debbie Pelt.
The Pam at Fangtasia and Pam and Eric flashbacks were the highlights of the episode and just about everything else was underwhelming to me.
Hopefully something will draw me in next episode... the first two certainly have not.
- I'm trying to like this new Tara but it just seems like old bitter angry Tara with pointy teeth. It's early in her transformation so I'll continue to reserve judgment for at least a few more episodes. - No matter what True Blood does with the characters, I'm just not interested in Arlene, Terry, or Andy. Plus, the return of uber-judgmental Arlene and her conversation with Lafayette was not a welcome one. - Alcide's reaction to Sookie's confession was just about what I expected. He wasn't really as mad about the killing part as he was about her lying to him about it and questioning his loyalty again. I'm sure he'll get over it rather quickly. - I'm glad that Jessica finally did something this season (besides dressing up as Red Riding Hood) that wasn't annoying. Her final scene with Jason was really nice. - The loyalty that Bill and Eric are continuing to show each other is odd but amusing to watch. - Salome is already turning out to be quite a Mata Hari. I don't trust her at all. - I think Nora is full of crap. I don't buy her confession about being a Sanguinista at all. She's hiding something big or protecting someone or both. - Pam continues to have the best storyline so far this season. - I'm glad that Jason is finally figuring some stuff out and trying to improve himself but he's supposed to be comic relief and all this self-improvement has come at the expense of comedy. - Can someone please kill Hoyt? The minute he walked into the bar looking like a fang-banging Right Said Fred is the minute I wanted to sign his death certificate.
Tina Majorino had one minor, innocuous (but cute) scene in the episode and it turned out to be one of the better scenes in this week's show. That sums up how meh this season has been for me so far.
Agreed. I found myself looking out for her the rest of the episode, and was incredibly disappointed when she didn't pop up again. It's sad that she was one of the highlights of the hour when she only spent 30 seconds or so on screen.
Pam is definitely going to get there in time. Why else would she flashback to the moment where Eric turned her (or she forced him to), if not to remind herself what it means to be a MAKER. She had to take responsibility for Tara, whether she really wanted to bring her over or not. Mirrored by Pam forcing Eric's hand back in 1905.
Like Pam and her origin story (and how it's presumably going to take her top a place where she takes some responsibility for Tara).
Quite like Tara with fangs, so long as her story progresses.
Bored by the detour taken with Jason and his old teacher, for me those scenes could have been cut drastically. Like him and Jessica though.
Don't care about Arlene and Terry (sorry) or Andy and Holly.
Sookie didn't really get to do much this week other than run around lookign for Tara, but Sookie is normally the centre of everything so it's good she's slightly less central or critical to the plot at the moment.
Well I think the show is meant to be disturbing, but I am not sure if disturbing in terms of rethinking theology with Supernatural phenomena should be considered "crap". -The idea of a transformation to living, dead, and back again (father, son, and the holy ghost = Resurrection) is one of the most repeated and theologically/philosophically used ideas when trying to understand something that could also be labeled "SUPER" natural in conjunction to asking what 'death' is and if it's the end of some type of existence/experience or not. The show has been dancing around these Biblical-Roman-Grecian ideas for some time. I am glad we get to explore it historically in contrast to the modern day, as fighting for beliefs and acceptances of truth is what people have been fighting for since our beginnings...and it tends to pull us together, or rip us apart.
Roman didn't confirm he was his maker, but more over that Solame was given authority to have some one turn him in the name of "the authority"...I am leaning toward the TEXAS vamp, Rosalyn HARRIS as his maker, although Salome made a good case to Roman that Steve is valuable asset, because of whom he was and the political cluaght he may still have, so she could have turned him too...
..WOOOOOW.. this is I call a good writing statement I am sorry for using the word CRAP but your answer is accurate is like religion and science they may be never agree in something but they respect each other and enjoy new discoveries in both areas.
You don't have to be sorry, I mean in another way the show uses very complicated relationships to justify any one person/groups actions. So in in that sense, you could kind of say it all leads to crap (or crappy situations), because it remains to be seen, or is left to the viewer to decide if any progress has been made...are any of the characters more "good" than other characters, because is what they stand for 'better' than what others stand for? IMO I think both Roman, Sookie have been more on the side of making things better, but also looking at Salome, Pam, Tara, and the awareness to Lilith, their really is a feminist exploration this season too! (which was really lead in last season with Marnie and Antonia and the entity that was created when their beings converged) - Going back to that little analogy that Sophie Anne was trying to explain to Bill about 'the power of blind faith-breaking the laws of physics' in season 2, one can see how people (more particularly women) can become vengeful when their treated like "property"... So depending on what happened to any viewer, we are all going to draw our lines a little different on what we perceive as justifiable.
I lol'ed a lot when Sam's gf (can't even remember her name tbh) opened that door and her "daughter" sat there on the floor. Miniwolf in a baby pyjama. So funny :-)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Awesome episode, the scene with Meloni shirtless wasn't long enough. Sorry I have major crush on him. Tara killing herself, I knew that was going to happen.
ReplyDeleteI don't think she is going to die i am sure Pam will get there in time to save her. But was a good episode nice seeing Pam origin story.
ReplyDeleteWhat if she doesn't? Tara could be dead by the time Pam gets there, due to that bright light from the tanning beds.

ReplyDeleteSo Roman was the one who turned Newlin in a vampire!
ReplyDeleteWho saw that one coming?
She's alive and kicking in episode 5.06.
ReplyDeleteHuh?

ReplyDeleteMy impression was that Nora confessed to protect Eric.

ReplyDeleteSteve Newlin the guy that really annoying in a suit, whom was speaking on that religious network last week.
ReplyDeleteYou don't know that, it wasn't overloaded with crap either.
ReplyDeleteAll of the episodes of True Blood aren't simple, this series is everything but that
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to have to watch this one again. I was a bit confused both by Nora confessing and Salome's agenda.
