Once Upon A Time - Season 2 - Meghan Ory upped to series regular
14 Jun 2012
Once Upon A Time
Meghan Ory, who recurred as Ruby aka Red Riding Hood on the freshman season of the breakout ABC drama, has been upped to series regular for the upcoming second season.

I was hoping to hear Emilie de Ravin had been upped to a series regular, but I'll take this too. (Please up Emilie to a series regular, though.)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great news. Her character deserves more screen time.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY. She is a much more interesting character than some of the others that are considered 'main'.
ReplyDeleteThat's great. Now if only they'd do the same for Sebastian Stan.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I only hope they upped her to a regular not just to keep another show from stealing her away but to involve her in the show more.
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear that Emilie de Ravin was upped to a series regular too!
ReplyDeleteI think its great as long as she gets more air time, she didn't have that much of a storyline in the first season...
ReplyDeleteAWESOME! I am hoping that they upgrade Sebastian Stan and David Anders (aka John Gilbert from the Vampire Diaries) to series regulars next
ReplyDeleteYES! Ruby and Emma are my favorite characters, this is great news!kkkkkkkkk
ReplyDeleteAgreed completely!
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I consider her more regular than say Archie anyway.
ReplyDeleteTee hee I already thought she was a regular. So glad to hear it.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I'm trying not to get too excited because they might use her as much as they did Archie last season.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. Ruby/Red is my favorite character after Regina.
ReplyDeleteNow that the curse is broken and they remember, I hope to see more of her friendship with Snow White.
About time. She was practly a regular anyway. She appears more often than Archie so she deserves to be credited as regular
ReplyDeleteThat's my concern as well.
ReplyDeleteOh, then I might have to get back into this show. I loved her!
ReplyDeleteThat would be great too! But yay for Meghan!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Now just if we can get de Ravin and Stan as series regs I would SUPER Happy!
ReplyDeleteI'm hopeful since her pilot wasn't picked up, and how the finale played out ::fingers crossed::
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I love her. I'd love to see some more of David Anders, too.
ReplyDeleteSmart decision. She is great and the character is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they'd be able to have that many regulars. With Meghan, that's 9 already.
ReplyDeleteBEST NEWS OF THE DAY. SERIOUSLY
ReplyDeleteRed is one of THE BEST characters and easily a fan favorite.
Now all I need for my OUAT fangasm to be complete is for Belle to be upped to series regular too.
Hmmm, buble officially bursted.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think it's better to keep the number of regulars relatively small anyway. I like them, but I don't need Stan, DeRavin or Anders as regular at this point. Recurring is just fine. Maybe they can do another upgrade if the core cast changes in the future, but for now I want them to focus on the big 5 (Snow, Regina, Emma, Charming, Rumple) and Henry, Red, Archie and August.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that I don't want more regulars, just that I don't think ABC will want that many. I'd love to have Belle and Jefferson as regulars.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I'm just so happy Emilie is a recurring character, no matter what.
ReplyDeleteAwesome news!
ReplyDeleteThat is great, I love her as Red she's great and now we will see her more which is awesome cause she's one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, that's what I'm talking about!! So excited!! I really want them to deepen Red's story and her friendship with Snow. Now that Charming and Snow's storyline is to reclaim their kingdoms, I hope that Red is really in the midst of the fray.
ReplyDeleteSo now that magic has come to Storybrooke does that mean Red's cloak needs to be remade?
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy about this. Red is one of my favorite characters.
ReplyDeleteSurprised they didn't bump her up earlier. She gets more screen time than some of the regulars anyway.
ReplyDeleteBelle doesn't have enough personality to be a regular. At the moment she is nothing but a love interest. So I'm glad Meghan got the regular slot instead of Emilie.
ReplyDeleteBesides, the writers can't even accommodate the regulars they have, adding anymore after this would just be dumb. Why the fuck is Archie a regular? And do we really need August, played by an actor just as wooden as the character he plays?
Yipee, she's on of my favorites
ReplyDeleteWell deserved promotion for Meghan.
ReplyDeleteI agree with many of you that I would like to see Sebastian Stan promoted as well... but with 9 (or 10) regular cast now, that seems unlikely & they need to give him a couple more appearances I think before they can start considering that. Meghan seemed to be in most of the episodes, made sense to promote her. Sebastian was only in 2, maybe 3?
As for DeRavin, cant say her character did enough to warrant much more than guest star spots for now.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!I LOVE HER :D
ReplyDeleteYay, i love her as Red!!
ReplyDeleteYES!!!!!!! (this should have happened since midseason but whatevs)
ReplyDeleteYou got your wish!
ReplyDeleteOI YEAH!!!! AWESOME news! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I've been wanting Red to become a series regular since the episode that featured her & showed that she was also the Wolf. Red's way more interesting and I think had more screentime than some others who were named series regular last season. Can't believe so much happened while I was away! Happy dance! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering the same thing. In fact, I wonder if she'll be wolfing out soon without her cloak.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It seems rude, but I wonder if they'll be demoting Archie to recurring soon.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Meghan is very engaging as Red. The character is one of the more interesting ones on the show. Belle, I'm cool with. I like her as a character as well as Rumple's love interest.
ReplyDeleteArchie & August should be recurring, at best. Archie is not that interesting, and really fits a supporting role. August has never really seemed as compelling to me as say, Graham, the dead sheriff. If August is somehow de-aged to be a kid again, then I'd probably be ok with Pinocchio being part of this cast, but still as a guest star though. Plus, Henry needs more kid friends.
I'd like to see what FTL character David Anders' character is. But I prefer he stay a gust star. Showing different characters' stories as part of the whole show is fine for keeping the show interesting, but concentrating too much on supporting characters would digress too much from the core characters of the show imo.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree. Showing different characters' stories (for the B-plot of an episode) as part of the whole show is fine for keeping the show interesting, but concentrating too much on supporting characters would digress too much from the core characters of the show imo.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the core cast should be the focus. And now that Red is a series regular, the show should give her more story, maybe more backstory (i.e., how she learned to control her wolf side). However, among the characters you listed as not needing to be concentrated on, I'd add Archie and August too. Even Henry should be recurring imo.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Now that Red is a series regular, the show should give her more
ReplyDeletestory, maybe more backstory (i.e., how she learned to control her wolf
side). I think the show should get Red a real love interest. I don't count Peter. He didn't seem like her one true love, at all. Red (& her fight scenes) should be featured more prominently in the FTL's "take back the kingdom" thing that Snow suggested to Charming. Just a few of my suggestions... ;)
Red's way too interesting a character to use as just decoration in the background. She needs more involvement in the main story. She needs more story, period.
ReplyDeleteFor real. I hope they use Red more in the storylines too.
ReplyDeleteI would love a backstory, and i'm pretty sure they will give us one considering they did with the other principle characters/actors.I'm not to sure about her meeting someone since they are expanding and adding new characters,2 that we know of and Belle is now a regular. If you think about it that means we have Regina,Emma,Henry,Gold,Snow,Charming, did i forget anyone? So that makes six,add on Belle,Red,Aurora, and Mulan that makes 9 different storylines going on with some merging of course but even so that is quite a bit of storytelling....
ReplyDeleteHow are you? Have you been away,or have we just been missing each other,i feel like its been awhile! *liked u*
I'm not asking for much. Just the B-plot for like, a couple episodes, to show some more of Red's FTL past story. Yes, the core cast of storylines is already at about 5. But, to keep the show interesting and fresh, the other characters' stories need to be interwoven into the show, to make the world of FTL & Storybrooke bigger than just the main 5 imo.
ReplyDeleteSo I read about the addition of the 2 new recurrings, Anastasia and Magnolia. Are you suggesting Anastasia could be Aurora? 'Cause I didn't read that. So I don't know anything about it. I would be interested in seeing Once's take on the Sleeping Beauty story though. So, added up, it's not THAT many storylines, is it? ;)
Forgot to say, "Hi there!". Yes, I've been away, busy with other things. Since it's summer, not much tv to be obsessed about. So, not too much reason to check this site, at least until the Fall season gets nearer. I'll probably be frequenting this place less during the summer, and only stop by when "big" news breaks for my fave shows.
I'm sure since Red is now a reg.she will get more a storyline along with Belle, and i think the new characters will have as much as Red did in S1.I can't possibly see them having all too many storylines going on,not unless they plan on more episodes which i seriously doubt..
ReplyDeleteI don't know if i misspoke about Aurora, its been mentioned, but so has Anastasia along with Mulan,in different articles and what not..Dark might have posted something about them here, check it out. I've done so much reading lately that i can't keep track on where i read things!! :P
Glad your busy and enjoying yourself! I don't know where you live but here in New York we had a very rainy spring up till 2 days ago and it is now 96 degrees and humid..so for the next few days i will be indoors. :)
I definitely don't mind if David Anders stays a guest star - the show definitely isn't lacking in regulars, and I think a lot of them (Raphael Sbarge, for example) fall by the wayside as it is. I'm just intrigued by Anders' character, and am a fan of him as an actor as well. I'm not saying up him to regular status - just throw him a bit more screen time every now and then.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have been intrigued by Anders since Alias. And I totally hear ya, regarding Sbarge (Archie/Jiminy, I think). As good of a show as Once has been, I'd be surprised if they didn't at least address a little of Anders' character's story some more. I'm getting the impression he might be some kind of villain (again) though. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've thought the same thing. And honestly, he's such a good villain, so I'm sure he'd be just as great in OUaT. I figure they'll address it at SOME point, since he's been around a bit. It's not like he's random townsperson #4 - he's established, so I'm assuming he's got some significance.
ReplyDeleteHe IS such a good villain! I'm really looking forward to Once coming back this fall.
ReplyDeleteOff-topic: Your post reminds me of my grade school days, when we did a play, and I was tree #3. Ah, memories... ;)
Hahaha well I'm glad I stirred up some (hopefully) fun memories :)
ReplyDeletethis is awesome news...i am sooo happy...i am still in shock that she was the werewolf though..but that just made the show sooo much more interesting...:)
