Oh Yes!Belle and Ruby/Red as regulars!Great news.with them plus Lana,Jennifer, and Ginnifer this show has some fine babes. And maybe we will get more Lost or Whedonshow vets next season.
Few weeks ago I said "oh, how great it would be if if they promoted Red and Belle and demoted Henry to recurring" and look and behold, Belle and Red, two of the best characters(alongside snow white) in the show are now series regulars.
Also, this obviously means more rumbelle, which is always great news. ;3
I'm not celebrating just yet. Here are my thoughts:
1. There were way to many regulars on the show as it was and it showed; the writers coukd barely mange the characters they already had. I don'y see adding Meghan Ory and Emile de Ravin is fixing anything. They need to trim the fat and drop some excess weight. Archie and August can be dropped and nobody would care. 2. There isn't anything to Belle other than being a love interest for Rumpelstiltskin. I hope they actually give her a personality and purpose outside of loving him. 3. They better not use her presence to neuter Rumpelstiltskin. 4. Have her find out that Rumpelstiltskin murdered the guy that came to rescue her from his castle. 5. Archie is going to be more irrelevant next season than he was this season.
She is damn hot and most suitable one for the Snow White not the chick whoever's playing the character now.
In my opinion, there are a lot flaws in this series as far as casting are considered. Other than the Mayor a.k.a Evil Queen, I didn't really find a singe actor, who suits their role well. Jennifer Morrison used to look sexy in House MD and suited her role really well in that show. But this one, meh! Anyways I gave up on this show long back and now I find Grimm better. I guess, I will watch the premiere of Season 2 of OUAT, and decide whether to proceed further or not.
One request from my side for season 2 is, no more love stories and concentrate more on magic and if possible include some action. Love stories between Snow White and the Prince, Rumple and Belly doesn't please me much.
I think they just wanted to make sure de Ravin is available whenever they need her and that may not have been the case if she'd started looking into other projects. Apparently that's also the reason why they made Meghan Ory a regular. She was interested in other pilots and if she'd signed on to one that got picked up - scheduling issues. I don't think Red and Belle are gonna be anywhere near as important as Snow, Emma or Regina next season. Red might be a littlte more important since she's Snow's best friend and next season is probably gonna be about Snow and Charming trying to take back the kingdom. But Belle's probably gonna be like Archie. It's gonna get difficult to stay true to their words and make sure Archie's gonna be more important next season if they keep signing on people as regulars. I want to see more of him. And yeah, I agree about Rumple. They better not turn him into a wooby now. I'm gonna roll my eyes so hard if that happens. But I think Robert Carlyle will make sure they keep his character balanced and don't turn him into a sappy mess.
Was JUST saying to my Dad the other day that it wouldn't be that big a shock if she became a regular, then BAM it happens! Think she'll be Rumple's 'Moral Compass' throughout the season, trying to eason with him when/if she can and keep him grounded as much as possible.
I can't say I'm too thrilled with yet another addition. I like the actress but I'm not really happy with all these regulars being signed up. I'd much rather see the core characters I decided to hang around for in the first season. And as I absolutely don't care for Rumple/Belle, this does nothing for me. We'll see.
I'll sign this. I have nothing against the actress, but I am worried the writers are adding too much to their plate with the news of two new regulars and two new recurring characters. Some core cast characters desperately need more attention from the writers (Charming/David especially) and I want to know more about their backstories first. Not sure why I'm expected to care about Mulan and that other princess they got coming up at this point. I don't mind Belle with Rumple as long as they don't treat it as a wonderful romantic lovestory, which it is not. But I don't care one bit about her beyond that and I hope they don't waste time on her backstory when there's so much left to tell with the core characters.
WOOT!!! I was really hoping for this. I'll be interested to see what role she plays this season - whether she's an ally of Rumple or Emma. Unless Rumple and Emma wind up working together. Though she might team up with Regina again. The possibilities are endless.
If this show is anything like Lost, I'm quite sure they'll expand everyone's stories. Though I hope they don't do much more with Grumpy and Astrid - they're already the Nikki and Paulo of OUAT for me. (Not that I want them to get buried alive or anything, mind you.)
Indeed!! Now all we need is Stan and we'll both do our Happy Dance! When we saw her in the finale,we knew she would be back, maybe as a recurring, but once her series wasn't picked up i knew it was only time...I'm so looking forward to this season!!! Its always nice knowing we will be in for a treat!
I don't think that adding Belle and Red Riding Hood as regulars is going to overcrowd the cast at all! Just because someone is a regular doesn't mean that they will get equal screen time every episode or overall for that matter. The core cast is still going to be Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle and Josh Dallas. Other regulars are basically supporting characters in the core characters stories. Belle is part of Rumplestiltskin's story and Red Riding Hood is basically a friend of Snow White. I don't think Belle or Red Riding Hood will necessarily become central to the story line.
I hope you are right, but I dunno. If I'm remembering correctly Regina lost a lot of screen time when August showed up attempting and failing to be mysterious.
They can't really use the Henry character much more than they already do (child actor rules and such) and since a lot of Henry's function has been completed now with Emma believing and the curse lifted I would expect that OUAT might scale back his appearances. Besides, they've just added two regulars to an already sprawling ensemble cast and the show is probably going to have difficulty finding ample screen time for all of them. Someone is bound to get the short end of the stick in that regard.
Come on, Grumpy has been in most episodes just as a background character, and Astrid has just been in one episode. You just can't going "Nicky and Paulo" characters you don't like.
I don't care much for them, but come on! Throwing the "Nicky and Paulo" thing is just overkill. It might take years before another set of characters can take that cursed mantle.Grumpy and Astrid don't deserve to be compared with those two, it's just too cruel!
It all depends for me on what they will do with Belle. So far she has been nothing but a woman who claimed to decide her fate yet both Rumple and Regina did a good amount of deciding for her. And I find nothing romantic in being held captive, abused both physically and emotionally and then falling in love with the abuser who actually chose power over her TWICE already. Rumple remains one of my favorites but I don't see him as a romantic hero. At all.
Red & Belle were the two I most wanted to become series regulars. I'm pretty happy with the casting news now. I'm totally looking forward to next season!
Relax - I'm really just joking. Actually, I never quite understood why everyone seemed to HATE Nikki and Paulo. I thought they had some potential. (And Expose is actually one of my favorite episodes.) Also, I think Grumpy is a good character, but Astrid is a bit too goofy. Plus, the storyline of "Dreamy" just pushed the fairy tale mythology of OUAT a bit far for me. All I really mean is that I hope they don't do too much more with the Grumpy/Astrid romance. I don't find the storyline compelling. But more of Grumpy by himself is fine with me.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
YES! This is what I've been wanting!

Great news! I absolutely love her as Belle, and I'm looking forward to much more... especially as she has to deal with Rumpel's power trip.

ReplyDeleteGonna have to throw at a YAY! I love her. Don't know why because she isn't a stellar actress or anything but I just adore her all the same.
ReplyDeleteOMG YESS!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear!!!
ReplyDeleteThere's really no surprise here. Amazing actress, great character addition.
ReplyDeleteYES! YES! YES! This means we get more Belle and Rumpy together! :D :D
ReplyDeleteGreat news! Although I hope they bring back the spark of their episode, because in the finale it felt very awkward!
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES awsome was waiting 4 that to happen :) :) :)

ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear her accent again and how she might play into the Storybrooke storyline.

ReplyDeleteMore Belle is always good! Was one of the better storylines last season! :)

ReplyDeleteYES! FINALLY! So happy!
ReplyDeleteYay, i'm glad that we'll get to see more Belle and Red!!

ReplyDeleteRumbelle - is that the couple name we're using? Hadn't heard that one. Hilarious.

ReplyDeleteYES! Exactly what I was hoping for, because of HOW the the finale played out with her character!
ReplyDeleteOMG! Just up Stan and I'll do a happy dance!
XD! -I knew she would be important!

ReplyDeleteYayyyyy! I'd hoped for this kind of news since the day it was anounced that American wouldn't be picked up!
ReplyDeleteyay im glad!! im interested to see where her storyline goes!

Funny thing though, If I mentally edit them out of every episode but Exposé, I like them! that episode was a very cool stand alone.
YES YES YES YES *_________________*
ReplyDeleteThey probably will. And as we are in minority, we will probably see a lot more of Rumple/Belle romance. I'll hold out on judgment and will give it a try to see where the writers are going but my initial reaction to this is not positive. Of course I'm glad to see Emilie get a full time gig, she is a lovely woman, so this is nothing against her. I just think storytelling wise I'll need to lower my expectations and standards for this show because they are going with clichés and disturbing messages waaaaay too much.
ReplyDeleteIt all depends for me on what they will do with Belle. ReplyDeleteAdd Spike to your list. SMG is rather pregnant right now, but after the baby, yes! Wasn't Emma Caulfield the best witch ever?
