Not content merely to dominate the box office and the comic book world, Marvel is now setting its sights on TV. On the heels of Disney XD’s announcement that the Ultimate Spider-Man (the network’s highest rated animated series) would be picked up for a second season, the new Marvel Animation Studios is gearing up for an ambitious lineup of comic-inspired series, including Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Marvel’s Avengers Assemble.

Cashing in on the current popularity? I am NOT shocked...
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking they already had an Avengers cartoon called 'Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heores'...
ReplyDeleteAs a kid of the 90's alot of my favorite shows are superheroes ones, like Spiderman, Fanatics 4, Batman, The Hulk. So I not surprised that there going to move into TV. It natural place for marvel to go, this way they get kids on-board early
ReplyDeleteThey cancelled Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes last week which has pissed off a whole lot of fans and rightly so it is the best cartoon Marvel has been involved with for a very long time. It was treated badly by the network and by Jeph Loeb.
ReplyDeleteThe new Avengers cartoon is going to have to be very impressive to win fans back over. If its anything like the awful Ultimate Spiderman show that debuted this year then it will be a failure.
The great thing about A:EMH is that it had long arcs spanning the seasons, as well as being very smart, funny and not afraid to go a little dark for kids.
This is why I won't bother with Marvel animated series anymore. They do a season or two then cancel it. Then do something new. Spectacular Spider-Man was amazing. Earth's Mightiest Heroes was also good. I don't get why they've reboot both.
