Friend, whose credits include 2005's Pride & Prejudice and 2009's The Young Victoria, will play Peter Quinn, a button-down CIA analyst who oversees a critical operation on the Claire Danes and Damian Lewis starrer.
Haven't seen him in anything in years.... He is capable though from what I recall.
My main concern is more that the writers decide on a story outline and stick to it this season. I loved the first half of Season 1, but it felt like it the show did not know where it was going the last handful of episodes. A feeling that was proved true as the producers have said in numerous interviews they were changing things up to the last moment at the end of the season. I for one could tell the story was being written as the season went on. I felt the quality of the story suffered from it even if the acting was superb regardless.
I noticed the same thing,it seemed once they made their decision to change things, they lost their way. They should have thought things through before making the change,at least know the direction you want to go in...
Yep. Good to know I am not the only one.... I know it's a minority opinion though! XD
I loved the performances and at least their was no debacle of a finale like The Killing... So I'm excited for Season 2.
I do wonder what direction they will take It seems like so much of the suspense was about whether or not Brody was turned or not. now we know and that suspense is gone. They cannot keep going back to that well or it will feel too familiar I think...
I guess the series struck me as a limited run series from the first time I read about it. Somewhat like Sleeper Cell. I loved Season 1 and while Season 2 was good it did not have that same level of brilliance.
That's very curious to hear for me really! I haven't come across this opinion on Homeland before really, so I do find this really interesting. I don't remember exactly what happened in each of the last episodes, but one thing that I do remember, was that after the last episode I was COMPLETELY thrown by Lewis' performance. I mean, I was this close to writing the guy a love letter :-p. So I do think my opinion on the storyline of the last episodes was blurred out by that, but that makes me all the more curious to what you found were troublesome points in the storyline of the second half of the season?
Who knows what is going to happen in S2?,i'm sure it will be good, maybe not as outstanding as S1,though i hope it is.
Its funny but i also thought it was a limited series, but i guess S2 is going to have Brody in some form of govt. job.I don't remember, was he suppose to run for congress??I remember them saying Carrie is going to Afghanistan,or was it Iran? Anyways.... :P
No matter S2 will still be good, even if it isn't outstanding. Its all up to the writers,we know the actors are more than capable, the writers have the hard part of sustaining the storyline throughout the season..We'll see i guess. :)
Honestly I don't recall the exact events or details that made me think they did not know where they were going towards the end of the season. I have more fuzzy memories of tone and the feeling I had than actual details sorry... I'd have to re-watch it and I may be doing that... if so I will let you know. XD It was not that the last episodes were bad - they were great - it's just that the first 5 or 6 episodes were so tight and well honed. The last handful of episodes seem to flow more organically. Instead of pushing events toward a single destination like the first 6 or so episodes, the tail end of the season seemed to stall a bit or at least meander a bit to me. That is not a bad thing necessarily, and they were well done episodes, but it had a different tone than the first half of the season to me. In the beginning it felt like the creative team knew exactly where they were going and how they would get there. Once they reached a certain point the story seemed to loosen up and be more about leaving possibilities open so they could go a few different ways when they finally decided what they wanted to do. I don't recall any continuity errors or anything of that sort at least. I had a few issues with the finale, but I'm not sure if it was more a style choice or them wanting/ needing to set up Season 2. I was not surprised at all seeing in interviews and round table discussions that the creative team did not know how they wanted to end the season and were writing and tweaking scripts until the very end....
All in all the issues I had were fairly small and hardly affected my opinion of the series. Maybe it went from arguably the best show on TV to just below the best few shows, but still one of the better shows on TV...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Never seen him in anything but nice to see another Brit on the show ;)

ReplyDeleteStarred in Pride and Prejudice alongside Keira Knightly, also dated her for several years. He's a good actor with killer bone structure.
