5) No moaning about your favourite scene not being included as you should have nominated it here :)
So vote away. Let us know which scenes you voted for and why, and which scene do you think will win overall?

Oh my. This is extremely hard. Going to take a while to think about this
ReplyDeleteCan't believe the Batman vs. Mathis didn't make it into this...
ReplyDeleteOh god, I haven't thought it would be that difficult. It's quite a challenge to choose 5 scenes from this list. When I'll finish I'll post my top 5!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's quite tricky once you see them all in a single poll :)
ReplyDeleteMantis is bad ass!
ReplyDeletethat was really hard.. in no particular order...:
ReplyDeleteWalter attempts a lobotomy on himself , Olivia stops him. (4.03 - Alone in the World)
Questioning Dead Jessica. (4.22 - Brave New World, Part 2)
Olivia "turning on the lights". (4.14 - The End of All Things)
Peter and Elizabeth "reunion" at her villa. (4.08 - Back to Where You've Never Been)
Walter gives back Bolivia the stuff she had left in the lab. (4.11 - Making Angels)
Exactly!
ReplyDeleteSo, here are my 5 best scenes after a really hard choice:
David Robert Jones escape plan (using the tracked money). (4.09 - Enemy of My Enemy) Walter and Elizabeth "reunion" at Walter's lab. (4.09 - Enemy of My Enemy) The two Walters conversation. (4.20 - Worlds Apart) Closing the Bridge. (4.20 - Worlds Apart) Questioning Dead Jessica. (4.22 - Brave New World, Part 2) The 5 scenes are taken from my 5 top episodes this season and the reason I chose those scenes is because each one of them include a unique writing or acting (even giacchino's composing) that is truly original and symbolize, in my opinion, Fringe.
Too many choices. I really think it should be 10 selections.
ReplyDeleteThe scenes that I thought to choose but in the end decided not to - are in your list. Loved your list, good choices.
ReplyDeleteOnly notable scene I can think of missing is "What up Tyrone..." leading into the Batman VS Mantis debate"
ReplyDeletethis probably falls under "Bolivia finds out that Lincoln's middle name is Tyrone." that was a hilarious sneaky scene.. so quick.. and clever and personal .. These actors can do so much with so little..
ReplyDeleteAlso the September catching bullets and then Olivia scene should be up there, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dor.. obv. the big reveals and climaxes stick with one a little bit sharper.. but looking over the list.. and thinking about the season as a whole (and in ways, the series) i picked these scenes for what they did for the characters on a personal/emotional level as well as giving resolution to some story strands & the opportunities it gave the actors..
ReplyDeleteIf i could add one more it would be the two Astrids meeting.. waited a while for that and was not disappointed.
it is up there ..
ReplyDelete"Jessica, Olivia, Peter & September scene at the A1 Imports."
This was SO hard...
ReplyDeleteOk
1.Walter talking to Aaron Peter(s) death
2.September and Peter's conversation about "home" (and locked universes)
3. Astrid and Astrid meet
4. Etta and Simon get Walter out of Amber
5. Walter and Walternate conversation.
If I could have a sixth it would have been the Walter encountering drunk Red Olivia.
But I think everything on the list was either hysterical or fundemental to the series. It was So hard to choose!!!!
Wow....well okay,i need a few to think this over, didn't think it would be this difficult, gak!
ReplyDeleteWhere is Peter and Olivia Kissing? That is the best scene in season 4!
ReplyDeleteThat was actually more difficult than I imagined...
ReplyDeletemmm good scene.. it's part of "Olivia parks her car and finds Peter waiting for her." (4.15 - A Short Story About Love)
ReplyDeleteIf' its not on the list then no one nominated it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be disappointed if Peter in the Observer's mind isn't #1. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the scene was visually really cool, because it's sort of interesting to think that either Observers minds reflect the evolution/cosmology of the universe, or that they have control over how their mind-space looks (astral projection)! After chatting about it a little I regret not voting for it, but I felt that so many moments where keystones in understanding whom all the characters are (or really, whom any one person "could" be, and the the awareness to the different set of circumstances that make that truth), but Peter's arc has been so much about his oneness and his awareness to change is more about losses, that it's hard to see this scene as something progressive since he still is just fighting to keep Olivia (and the universes) alive and the painstaking truth that Peter can no longer be with the son he didn't even know he had...
ReplyDeleteIt probably deserves to be number 1.
Choosing seems impossible...
ReplyDeletePeter's birthday,4.16- This was such a great moment. Peter seeing all the presents Walter saved from all his past b-days.And really for Walter to accept Peter as his son, then Peter hugging his dad! I cried like a baby then laughed my ass off when Walter showed Peter the HUMP magazine that he bought for his on his 16th b-day.What a dad,i love that man!
ReplyDeleteWalter and Olivia in 4.18,The Consultant-Walter has come a long way,but there is still a part of him that will always be...well Walter! Having to make sure he pees before his long travels, even if it is only walking through the door, and his blessed Recreational Drugs!! Ha,this man cracks me up!
The Two Walters in 4.20-Worlds Apart- OMG someone tell me how long we waited for that moment, and damn it ripped my heart out. John Noble you are BRILLIANT and i'm going to miss you, yeah i'm tearing up now...
Astrid and Astrid in 4.11. Making Angels- Astrid is wonderful in this episode it blew me away, and of course made me cry.
Walter calling Astrid by her real name in 4.22 Brave New World Pt 2. He really has come a long way!
How does, how can we just pick 5,i found it impossible! There are so many scenes that were just incredible...I loved the opening scene of Gene the cow being taken to her favorite pasture to graze, wearing her FBI shirt. The Googly eyes that Rebecca did,i don't care what it was, some of it had to be her and if it wasn't so, what it was still great! Peter realizing that Olivia was his Olive, wow that melted my heart.I could go on and on,yeah, tie to stop.. ;)
Wy too many choices, this was very difficult.
ReplyDeleteI went with Olivia turning on all the lights,
Walter giving Peter his birthday presents,
Fauxlivia finding out alt Lincoln's middle name is tyrone,
Fauxlivias drunk seen with Walter
And Olivia mind controlling Peter to beat up DRJ
But there were a lot more great choices.
Yeah, I voted for that one. I loved that scene!!
ReplyDeleteJawDrop.... I need to choose... like now... for realz.... :,( It's gonna be hard....
ReplyDeleteEuhm I think I might do some Ieny Meeny Miny.... like euhm... Yeah I think I do that...
♥
For me, it's still the Two Walters Talking to Each Other. I absolutely loved that scene...
ReplyDeleteAstrid and Altrid first meeting because it was lovely
ReplyDeleteBolivia finds out that Lincoln's middle name is Tyrone for showing us the brillant dymanic between Alt Liv and the two Lincoln's
Simon telling Etta about his past I think it just gave us so much history and emotion for a character we barely knew
The 2 Walters Convo was just perfect, a great ending to their relationship
Olivia being pregnant even though we all knew it still lovely
I voted earlier and then was called away before I had time to comment. Now I'm tempted to change a couple of choices, but I'll keep it as it was. 1) Closing the Bridge. 2) Walter calling Astrid by her real name. 3) September choosing not to disappear Peter.4) Astrid meeting Astrid. 5) Walter starts to hear Peter.
ReplyDeleteWow this was hard. It took me so long to come to a decision because I kept changing my mind and now I finally voted and I want to change my answers again! I like them all!
ReplyDelete1. Episode 4.04, Subject 9. Walter losing it in the hotel room, then Olivia take him to drink Root Beer Float. (One of my favorite scenes of the show. And we find out what happened to Elizabeth in this timeline.)
ReplyDelete2. Episode 4.05, Novation. Walter tells Nina why he's resented her since Reiden Lake. (Not to toot my own horn, since I nominated this; but this was an absolutely genius monologue by Walter. We finally see the scope of him losing both his sons, and it is devastating. Just another Emmy-worthy performance by John Noble.)
3. Episode 4.09, Enemy Of My Enemy: David Robert Jones escape plan (using the tracked money). (Awesome plan by DRJ; but in retrospect, I wonder if it was Bell who thought of using the money.)
4. Episode 4.19, Letters of Transit: Walter blows up the Massive Dynamic building with Antimatter. (I nominated this. Walter with his brain intact is someone you DON'T want to mess with, not even an Observer.)
5. Episode 4.20, Worlds Apart: The two Walters conversation. (The entire series hinges around Walter and Walternate. Everything that happened in the first three seasons happened because of what Walter did in 1985, and Walternate's retaliation. The two needed to reconcile, not just to stop the worlds from falling apart, but for their own catharsis.
At the end of season three, it looked like this was going to happen with the bridge room; but then Peter was erased. Logic dictated that "No Peter=No War With The Other Side", but this was not so. In this new timeline, Walternate had even MORE of a reason to hate Walter: Walter failed to save his own son, and inadvertently killed the other Peter.
Reconciliation was more important than ever before, but it wasn't happening. The two sides distrusted each other more than before, even if the bridge room was working. It took the reemergence of Peter and an entirely different common enemy to get the Walters in a room together. They finally made peace with one another, and it was beautiful. It was a tragedy that it took 20 episodes for it to occur, but it was entirely worth it. I submit that it's the most important moment of the entire series, so far.)
That was hard but not as hard as I was expecting, I had four I definitely wanted by the time I got to the end of the list and then I had to pick one from about three.
ReplyDeleteI ended up going with:
Olivia tells Peter she remembers "everything" (413)Peter gets into September's brain trying to find Where's Olivia (414)Peter and September
conversation about home, when September tells him about his theory of
what happened to him. (4.15)
Peter's "birthday"
- Walter gives him presents he saved for him over the years, and
Peter hugs him. (4.16)
Walter encounters drunk Bolivia at night (418)Something I've realised from what I picked is that I must really love the middle of the season since I've got something from each episode 13-18 apart from 17.
And I realized in all this I actually forgot to list my choices:
ReplyDeleteIn no particular order:
1. 4.04 Walter loses it in the hotel room and Olivia calms him down then takes him out for a root beer float
2. 4.14 Olivia turning on the lights
3. 4.15 September telling Peter this is his universe and his Olivia
4. 4.16 Broyles telling Olivia there is no Fringe division without her
5. 4.22 Saving Olivia
Wow. Choosing just five is a pain in the ass. Here goes (in no particular order)
ReplyDelete- Walter's self-lobotomy scene w/ Olivia
- The Walter / Elizabeth reunion at the lab
- Astrid / Alt-Astrid first meeting
- Drunk Bolivia / Walter
- The Walter / Walternate conversation
There are at least four more scenes I'm disappointed that I couldn't also give a vote to.
"It took the reemergence of Peter and an entirely different common enemy to get the Walters in a room together. They finally made peace with one another, and it was beautiful. It was a tragedy that it took 20 episodes for it to occur, but it was entirely worth it. I submit that it's the most important moment of the entire series, so far.)"
ReplyDeleteWell Robert, when you put it like that.... ;o)~ i concur
Unfortunately, according to the comments nobody has made the same choice with me.
ReplyDeleteAnyway my top 5 is..
-At the investigation room, Peter ask Walter to help him figure out what went wrong. (4.05 - Novation)
-
Peter and Elizabeth "reunion" at her villa. (4.08 - Back to Where You've Never Been)
-
Peter gets into September's brain trying to find Where's Olivia. (4.14 - The End of All Things)
-
Peter's "birthday" - Walter gives him presents he saved for him over the years, and Peter hugs him. (4.16 - Nothing As It Seems)
-
Jessica, Olivia, Peter & September scene at the A1 Imports. (4.22 - Brave New World, Part 2)
And I have like 20 more scenes I'm disappointed that I couldn't also give a vote too! This season was much better than just 5 best scenes. That what makes it SO hard.
ReplyDeleteOh, so that is supposed to be that. Yes. My brain didn't make the connection. How stupid of me in retrospect.
ReplyDeleteThat was very hard to choose the whole 4th season was filled with great parts.
ReplyDeleteLaura, there is a book coming out soon: Fringe,Septembers Notebook. It will go for 33.00 at Amazon..
ReplyDeleteSure we did,Robert has one of yours,i have at least one,Peters B-day presents and a few other people have some. Off hand i can't remember who there are so many!
ReplyDeleteWell I liked so many of the scenes but the one that stands out the most is when Walter loses it in the hotel room. We as the viewer feel the way Olivia did, helpless, and really wanted to do everything possible to help Walter. I agree with many of his rantings...this world, with its pollutants, noise etc. can be a bit much, it can overload the brain.
ReplyDeleteI think any of the romantic scenes will win because of the popularity of such scenes.
I especially like any scene with September in it. He just seems so intense even if The Observers aren't supposed to have emotions...I think September does
I like when Walter calls Astrid by her correct name because it finally legitimizes her in Walters mind, she is now appreciated by Walter.
I disagree about Walternate in the second timeline...
ReplyDeleteI think he wasn't as vengeful, because there was nothing to get back...I think the fact that he knew he lost his son, rather than his son being stolen and hidden from him, allowed him to go through the 5 stages of loss a lot easier. I am not saying there still wasn't distrust or hate, but Walternate was able to rise above it, because he was "forced" to believe that Peter could never come back, and to take away that possibility verses knowing your son is out there growing up with another man who looks a lot like you, IMO is justifiably worse for some one who thinks like Walter(s).
Of course beyond that I also think there is a natural shift in roles from time line to timeline that's progressive, and so therefor the buck of Walternate is passed to William Bell, who doesn't seemingly have a good excuse...
I think September has emotions, maybe not to the extent we do,but he certainty has some.I thought that in the beginning Walter tolerated Astrid because she was there basically to look after him.But over the last two years i thought when Walter Said Astrid's wrong name he did it out of affection for her. When he said it correctly this time i thought he did it out of respect, and because he has grown as a person.
ReplyDeleteBTW- Welcome to spoiler,i see this is your first posting! We are pretty friendly hers and usually we don't bite,ha!
no worries... i liked the desc. of Sept. catches Jessica's bullets & Olivia smirks.. that was my fave part of that scene.. even more than when Olivia 'catches' the bullets and flings em back.. just a little cocky 'yea, he's wit us, bitch' smile.. LOVED it
ReplyDeleteso many great moments, so hard to choose 5!!
ReplyDeleteThis is hard and to redo my choose so many times! In the end when with
ReplyDelete1)At Nina's apartment, Nina and Olivia talk about Love, and Olivia decide to forget her life and live the life of "the better version of her". (4.15 - A Short Story About Love). As I love this scene so much, had to go in!
2) The assasin attacks Fringe Team and shots Alt-Lincoln. (4.17 - Everything In Its Right Place) . Had to go for this one as Alt-lincoln was favorite alt universe character.
3) William Bell inside the amber. As I never read the credit and did not know he as do to appear!
4) Closing the Bridge. (4.20 - Worlds Apart).
As it perfect ending to wrap up the alt universe.
5) William, Walter, Olivia & Peter scene at the ship (Walter kills Olivia). (4.22 - Brave New World, Part 2).
Just for moment when Walter shots Olivia!!
Walter thinks Jin is depressed due to the Grazing Day. (4.17 - Everything In Its Right Place) ???????JIN????Seriously??I thought it's Gene? or Walter would rather call it Jin?
ReplyDeleteNo its Gene,Jean,i forget how the Fringe crew spelled it.
ReplyDeleteIt's spelled Gene, in reference to DNA and genetics. :)
ReplyDeleteUGH, I clearly missed that.
ReplyDeleteDuly noted.
Wow, this is difficult. I have at least 10 favorites and narrowed them down to 5. My choices are...
ReplyDeleteWalter and Elizabeth "reunion" at Walter's lab. (4.09 - Enemy of My Enemy)
Peter gets into September's brain trying to find Where's Olivia. (4.14 - The End of All Things)
At Nina's apartment, Nina and Olivia talk about Love, and Olivia decide to forget her life and live the life of "the better version of her". (4.15 - A Short Story About Love)
Closing the Bridge. (4.20 - Worlds Apart)
Saving Olivia by getting the bullet out before the Cortexiphan will reconstruct her brain. (4.22 - Brave New World, Part 2)
But there are so many great scenes like Walter<->Drunk Bolivia (4.18) or the two Walters conversation (4.21)... but I'll stick with the five. :)
I forgot to suggest this before. The scene where Bell shows Walter the new world he hope to create and says The bible tells us God created his universe in seven days. It has taken me considerably longer.
ReplyDeleteMaybe in the next poll "Fringe season 4 favorite quotes" :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Of course it is,how silly of me to think otherwise! :)
ReplyDeleteFixed. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHmmm! I wonder if it has easter-eggs -decoder stuff inside?! (I feel like the kid in the Christmas story who's hoping to get something more than Ovaltine!)
ReplyDelete"Update: 13th June We have already had over 1,500+ votes. Just 50 votes currently separate the Top 10 scenes so far!" WOW! i'm really pleased with this past season (maybe it's the season 5 relief/euphoria) and to see how tight a race it is for favorite scene just underscores how solid the season was as a whole... eventually. ;)
ReplyDeleteHa! I don't know when its coming out but you can pre-order,and i would love some easter eggs inside,ha!
ReplyDeleteI've been tweeting for people to come and vote. I hope we get lots more we could use a bigger Fringe fanbase here. I'm so excited to see the next phase! I didn't realize we had so many votes,i guess a lot of people just didn't leave a comment...cept us yappers! ;)
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think the Observers are set up much like Vulcans (and Romulans) in which it isn't that there are not any emotions, but rather being more objective ('higher' brain function) requires/comes with a great deal of emotional self control (eastern philosophy)...but like exploring those things in Star Trek, it's clear that any being can become prey to being 'unhinged' and using their logic backwards to their advantage, which then comes to defeat their own original purpose/beliefs...
ReplyDeleteOMG.... this was so hard, I went with
ReplyDelete1. Peter's birthday, Walters presents 4.16
2. Closing the Bridge 4.20
3. The 2 Walters conversation 4.20
4. William,Walter, Peter and Olivia scene on ship 4.22
5. Questioning dead Jessica 4.22
There was also lots from earlier in Season that I wish this Pole was split in to 2 parts
early season eps 1-11, and late season 12-22
Wasn't this hard! Looking back there are other scenes i would have picked, but then i would probably say the same thing. Its too bad we couldn't pick 10 considering how many are actually listed...oh well,ha!...........good choices! ;)
ReplyDeleteYep,that was a great scene!
ReplyDeleteDead Jessica. Those eyes, yikes! I don't care if it was cgi those eyes were incredible! and i loved the scene between Bolivia and Walter when she teases him and gives him the box and mints..so good!
ReplyDeleteIt was incredibly hard, I think I voted on the later episodes because they were fresher in the mind. Walter losing it in the hotel room was one of my earlier favourites and a few from Making angels and Welcome to Westfield
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not i don't remember that part of 4.09 where DRJ uses the tracked money? I love all the ones you listed! Next time shoot for 10 scenes,or quotes etc,you get what i'm saying.
ReplyDeleteThen you must watch it again! Brilliant scene in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it! Everyone is pissed off about choosing only 5 scenes but that's the point that makes it hard. I hope, same as you, that the poll that me and Dark motivated was just the beginning. But don't expect me to do it LOL, in the summer I'll study for a really important Psychometrics exams, so I won't have much time... not even to vote XD
As hard as this pole is, could you imagine how hard a favourite main cast character pole would be. I love them all for different reasons. and together as a whole.
ReplyDeletePlease no pole of favourite character
That difficulty is why my vote would go to Gene.
ReplyDeleteHaha Lol, good one
ReplyDeletethis is so hard!!! i need to pick them all!!
ReplyDeleteI will watch it again,i am starting a re watch of Fringe from the beginning,I figured theirs no better way to get ready for the last season than to start off fresh, plus i've forgotten a lot of stuff.. Do you go to school in the summer? or just preparing for the test?
ReplyDeleteNo,i couldn't imagine! Ha,i would have to vote with Bruce on this one,Gene! I couldn't possibly vote for one favorite character,Walter wouldn't be who is is w/o Peter,Peter wouldn't be who he is w/o Olivia and Walter,Olivia wouldn't be Olivia w/o Peter or Walter.Sure they are different, but they are One, and they are forever bound together for what they have gone through, done and are going to do.. .. they are family! Astrid too i didn't mean to leave her out!
ReplyDeleteHa yeah Gene for President lets get a campaign going.
ReplyDeleteFavourite alt character now is easy, Bolivia without a doubt
I checked out the synopsis over at Amazon...It seems like it will be the fill in gaps of whatever isn't presented to us before the show ends/and or something to go along with the final season (depending on if it's released before, during, or after the series finale), especially the Observers and their understanding of things...But it sounds like a nice thing to have, just to maybe specify on some things...and perhaps even will change the perspective of the show after it's done...
ReplyDeleteNo these exams have nothing to do with school. It's an exam that the government offers. I'm just taking courses to prepare myself in the summer. Anyway, read the message I sent you in the email a few days ago :)
ReplyDeleteOoh! This i definitely have to buy! Lets hope it comes out before, well unless there are spoilers in there then no i would want to wait.....This is exciting, and something good to look forward to! Thanks for giving me the info. ;)
ReplyDeleteand since we don't know who "liked u" that is what i'll be saying when i do,so i "liked u" ;)
Okay will do! :)
ReplyDeleteDor,i can't believe this but i just got back the email i sent to you last sunday,4 days ago. I don't know how but i screwed up your email address, please send me a quick email so i can get your address again, thanks sorry!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Well all that talk about Belle in Once Upon A Time earlier inspired me to write a scene...
ReplyDeleteIn an alternate universe where William Bell has passed on Walter Bishop and Nina Sharp take a little trip down memory lane to commemorate whom William Bell really was...
After several ours of searching and going through personal belongings at Massive Dynamic, three Observers (September, December, and July) appear.,,
December: We have what you seek. (Holds up a VHS Tape)
September: This is what he wanted to be, but couldn't. (Takes tape from September and holds it out to Walter. Walter takes the tape which reads, "Once Upon A Time Audition Tape")
December: The truth will come out. It always does. (they disappear)
Nina: Walter, what do you think this means?!
Walter: It's Belly's road not taken! -We must watch it as soon as possible!
Nina: But we don't have a VHS player here, Walter!
Walter: I do, -back at the lab!
In the small quiet room in Walter's lab Nina and Walter have prepared the the TV and VCR. Walter puts the tape in and retreats to a pair of beani chairs...
The film begins to play. A stage, with dreadful cartoon-looking cut outs of a small French town. Disney's Beauty and the Beast Audio track begins to play....
There goes the baker with his tray like always. The same old bread and rolls to sell.
Every morning just the same since the morning that we came,
To this poor provincial town.
[Baker]
Good Morning Belle!
William Bell appears in a dress and chimes right in!
William Bell: G'morning Monsieur!...The book shop...I just finished the most wonderful story, About a beanstalk and an ogre and an.. (Nina gives face palm, while Walter gets the just of song, becomes animate, and also chimes in..........................................................................Walter: She really is a funny girl, a beauty, but a funny girl. She really is a funny girl, that BELL!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a photo to go with this, but I can't figure out how to do this since disqus updated????
ReplyDeleteLOl, I love this, ha! I can see all the characters playing their parts! Walter seeing Bell as Belle,ha that cracked me up! I can just see him getting all excited about it.So when is the second scene coming out? All the people who watch Fringe and Once would like this, and truly appreciate this...Nicely done! :) Can't wait to see the picture... ;)
ReplyDeleteThis was so difficult!! I eventually picked...
ReplyDelete1. Walter and Elizabeth's reunion
2. Astrid and Altrid's first meeting
3. Peter's birthday
4. Walter and Walternate's conversation
5. Closing the bridge
I would have also liked to pick...Walter's breakdown in the hotel room, Olivia remember's everything, Olivia telling Nina she's going forget her life, Drunk Bolivia and Olivia is pregnant. There's lot more but I'd probably end up listing most of them!
so hard to choose i loved every moment
ReplyDeleteWent on vacay and missed this. I liked all these, but voted for Peter appearing at the power grid.
ReplyDeleteIf I hadn't been cavorting with the bears at Yellowstone Park last week, I would have nominated the scene where Peter, from his cell, instructs everybody on what to do to solve the case. Later I'll find the episode and more info, but it was cool.
