As Abed would say, "cool, cool, cool".
It's #SixSeasonsAndAMovieAndAnotherComicConPanel as TV Guide Magazine can officially confirm that yes, as the show's stars hinted last week, fan favorite Community is returning to San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 13 at 10 a.m. And this year, the organizers didn't britta it : the gang from Greendale are moving on up to Ballroom 20 in the San Diego Convention Center.
That's good news for fans, many of whom last year stood in line for hours but couldn't make it inside to actually see the panel — which was held in a smaller ballroom at the nearby Hilton Bayfront hotel. Ballroom 20 holds an audience of around 5,000 people — double the capacity of last year's venue. That's kind of crazytown banana pants.
Already confirmed to attend are Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown and Gillian Jacobs. Jim Rash is directing a movie and can't attend, while Donald Glover and Ken Jeong will also be working out of town. Organizers are still determining whether Chevy Chase will be able to appear. Another unlikely returnee is Annie's Boobs.
TV Guide Magazine's Michael Schneider —ooh, I hear he's good— will be back to moderate for a second year in a row. Expect every thing you've come to expect from a Community panel : gag reels, giveaways and a few surprises. Perhaps there will even be a moment of silence for the late Star-Burns. Pop pop!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the vids from this to show up. I'm sure that one of the first topics brought will be the departure of DH as showrunner, prob a good idea to get that out of the way up front and then move on to other things.....
ReplyDeleteBallroom 20 is not the biggest room at Comic-Con — I think it's Hall H, where the panels of shows like Fringe and TBBT will take place — but knowing that the room will be twice larger than the one used for the 2010 and 2011 panels is still an excellent news for the Human Beings living around San Diego. Since 5490 miles away doesn't qualify as "living around San Diego", it'd be hard for me to attend.
ReplyDeleteIt would be amazing if Dan Harmon were to attend. I know Sony & NBC would never allow that, but if Harmon were to be in the audience and come on stage at one point, who would throw him out ? Plus, it'd be an occasion for the fans to say thank you and goodbye to the creative soul of the show and for the cast to see him one last time (he was fired well after the wrap of season 3, they might have not seen him since).
At least there's no mention on the presence of the new showrunners. It's probably better if they're not here. At first I thought Guarascio & Port were really cool, understood completely their 'unwanted' status and mastered Irony with this twitter account (https://twitter.com/#!/guarascioport) but since MurderMondays told me it's a fake account, I am now still worried about the upcoming style of the show (not that they'll go to the lengths hinted in those tweets, but still) — I thought it was legit since now-former exec producer Neil Goldman is following them.
Also, given the last sentence, Mr Schneider (writer on TV Guide and moderator of the panel) doesn't seem to have sticked around for the last minutes of the season ^^.
All this is still a bit bittersweet....
ReplyDeleteStill glad they got a bigger hall though!
This great!! And awesome for us human beings!!
ReplyDeletenoooooo!!! i miss it by a day!! :(
ReplyDeleteWoo woo well deserved.
ReplyDeleteGood news about the bigger room.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunate that Donald and Ken won't be able to make it.
Couldn't care less about Chevy (I'd rather him not going, actually).
Rooting for Annie's Boobs presence.
5,000 fans annoyed about the departure of Dan Harmon? looking forward to seeing footage of this panel.
