In fact, on the heels of the three announced cast cuts — Nicholas Bishop (who plays Peter), John Carrol Lynch (Bud) and Sonja Sohn (Sam) — showrunner Matt Gross says that two new characters will join the mix.
The first, Det. Tommy Sullivan, is a former love interest of Megan’s who transfers to Philadelphia to win her back. The sexy cop will give his strong-willed ex a flirty hard time as they work together to solve cases. The second newbie, Det. Adam Schaeffer, is a smart (and smart-mouthed) rookie who routinely gets ahead of himself, and that will cause him a bit of trouble.
Here, Gross — along with executive producers Christopher Murphey and [former 24 executive producer] Evan Katz — detail for TVLine why and how the Dana Delany-fronted procedural is being retooled.

Okay, honestly, none of this even sounds remotely interesting. But that could possibly be because I'm still bitter.
ReplyDeleteDamage control.
ReplyDeleteSorry...but this actually sounds good...and that's coming from someone who will really miss Peter...
ReplyDeleteEither way, all we can do is wait and see. Hoping for the best, love the show and there's no reason that can't stay the same in S3. Who knows, it might actually get even better! Though i'll obviously settle for being just as good as always...
ReplyDeleteWe'll see but t doesn't sound bad..
ReplyDeleteThis put me in a complete "whatever" mode about the show....
ReplyDeleteNeither of these two new characters are grabbing me.
ReplyDeleteFail
ReplyDeleteMight be interesting to have someone able to stand up to Megan once in a while.
ReplyDeleteNot bad. Will probably still tune in
ReplyDeleteperhaps,, but this could've happened already if the writers and producers included that in the show
ReplyDeleteBody of Proof has spent 2 seasons establishing great characters. Now all they needed to do was write some conflict and spark between the characters that America has grown to love (11 million +viewers). I think they have made a mistake. Use what characters they already had and write some GREAT episodes, and keep the ball rolling. I just think they're gonna fail in so many changes. They could've just taken this show to the next level but instead they're gonna get a huge backlash from the viewers that already tune in.
ReplyDeleteWell doesn't sound so bad .... might could be interesting
ReplyDeleteThat's the point. The viewers that 'already tune in', whilst great, are not enough to keep the show going beyond next season. Just fine tuning what you already have isn't going to bring in new viewers (which is what it needs to survive - the ratings are low and only just got renewed) but a serious freshening up at least gives it a chance of doing just that. As much as I loved Bud and Sam, I can lose them. It's Peter I'm most sad about. But whatever, we still have the MAIN CHARACTER, as well as over half of the original cast/characters that we love left. This + the same crew, show runners, writers along with some new writers and new characters - colour me intrigued and maybe even excited. Don't get me wrong, I was upset at first too - but now I'm moving on, because I love the show and am very hopeful I still will in S3.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of one instance where a tv show had a major shake-up of the cast, redirected the show and actually had the ratings go up and get more seasons. It's just not going to happen with this show. This show is something that I watched mostly because it was on. I don't truly appreciate DD, and cannot stand her onscreen spoiled little brat daughter. Most of the other characters are pretty likeable.
ReplyDeleteI just think that the writers don't have any clue of where they want to go with any of the characters. It often feels like a completely different show every week - no cohesiveness. I get they are trying to shake it up, but bringing in a former love interest - yawn. I don't want to see a rekindled relationship. I want to see a new one unfold. Maybe Luke Perry's character could have been a logical change to this show. But letting go of your current police/investigators just to bring in these new ones? Pointless.
They should've kept Peter in, and upped the sexual tension between him and Megan. I kept waiting for it... but then it fizzled out, which is a shame because they had a great dynamic going.
