Arrow - Katie Cassidy Interview (Snippet)

Is it intimidating to sign on for a show about such an iconic character?

CASSIDY: No. Well, I shouldn’t say no. It’s a little intimidating, yeah, but when you’re so in it, you have to let that stuff go. You can’t think about it ‘cause then it just gets in your way. I try mainly to just focus on character and what my character’s point of view is, with each person, and try to figure out story. I’m just there to do my job. I’m really excited about it! I think it’s going to be really, really fun. I’m working with a great group of people, and everyone is amazing and really talented. I’m really lucky to have given the opportunity to do that.

  1. I've missed seeing Katie Cassidy on tv. So happy she's back :)

  2. What a silly question. Most of Cassidy's work has been in genre film and television. It's her bread and butter. There's no reason for something like this to intimidate her no matter who the lead character is.

  3. She might have done a lot of genre stuff but it has been mostly original material.
I think the question was refering to the "built in-pre existing Green Arrow audience and mythology" factor.

  4. That's what my post was referring to. If she can suffer all of the criticism that comes with being involved in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, being on a small network show about a minor DC comic book character is a breeze in comparison.

  5. Can't wait to see the Comic-Con stuff.
And I'm glad to see she's excited... I am crossing my fingers that this one sticks for her (it does seem like the most promicing project with actual tangible longterm potential she's had so far though.)
Also that mocie sounds quite interesting too....

  6. I think "breeze" is a stretch. Yes he's not Superman or Batman or the Flash but I also don't think he's that minor either as to not gather some buzz in the SuperHero circles. So I guess I get the question... but I really liked her answer to it too.

  7. The re-launch of Green Arrow in the nineties put an environmental spin on things and made it more about Oliver fighting against the bad guys for the earth. I think TV just kills comic book characters in the transition.

Maybe she's intimidated by the audience??
