If Community or Parks & Rec had been cancelled, I'd be outraged by that news, but since they've both been renewed, I'm not as pissed as I could be. The laugh trac-- live audience must be pleased.
This renewal feels like one of these Saturday morning cartoons when everything has been resolved for the better (Parks and Recreation renewed for a full season, Community renewed with a possibility for a back 9), everyone is happy but at the last moment the nemesis of the good guys (who we thought was defeated) is seen in the background getting away on a jet ski screaming "I'll be back !". In that scenario, the bad guy on the jet ski is Shitney.
The only reason for renewing Shitney is to have a 1-hour block of multi-camera sitcoms : Whitney season 2 will probably be paired with Friends with Kids, a show about guys who are friends and have kids (groundbreaking, right ? NBC is making history here). Because I doubt the glowing reviews and the rabid fans are the reason why Shitney will be returning.
NBC will have 13 (!) comedies next season : 6 returning series (Community, Up All Night, 30 Rock (ending), The Office, Parks & Rec and Shitney) and 7 new ones (Animal Practice, Go On, Save Me, 1600 Penn, New Normal, Next Caller and Friends with Kids). All of them are single camera except Shitney and Friends with Kids. I guess 2-3 of the new ones will have the "Bent / Best Friends Forever treatment".
Oh cool, didn't see the 22 season order part. Awesome for Parks and Rec. Well ... then ... I revise my statement to Cancel Whitney and give Community a full season order!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
B****es be desperate.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? WTF NBC?
ReplyDeletewow... things must be worse than I though over there at the Peacock network for this dreck to be on the slate...
ReplyDeleteThey're desperate, lol.
