The Vampire Diaries - Episode 3.22 - The Departed - Daniel Gillies Teases His Return

7 May 2012

"I'm coming back. There's a hot mess in Mystic Falls. It's a hot mess! We need a little Elijah to restore some order," Daniel teases of his reappearance.
While Daniel couldn't say too much about the finale, he warns fans to "brace" themselves as the episode is "just going to rock the foundation of the fandom. It's stunning what the writers have done. I love what [executive producer] Julie Plec has done. I'm as eager as the fans to see how it evolves. It's deeply tragic. You can expect some tragedy. That's all I can really say. Whatever's happening with this group of people is about to be changed forever."
Considering Elijah was literally stabbed in the back by his brother Klaus (Joseph Morgan) in last season's finale, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Daniel considers finales to be brutal. "Brutal things happen. I feel like the character Precious!" he says. "I feel like can anything else bad happen to this creature? One thing I really enjoy about that role is that when he comes around, it means that an equilibrium is being sought after."

I love Elijah...but like it or not...I'm going to miss Klaus.  I really liked Joseph Morgan.  lol

  4. Klaus will probably return! And is apparently in the finale!

  5. Klaus will probably be in the episode desiccated like Rebekah was in episode 10 daggered. I doubt they will revive him this soon otherwise it would all have been pointless. I expect Klaus back mid way through season 4 or even at the end as the big bad again for season 5

  6. Gosh I missed Elijah so much. I'm so happy he's coming back - wonder what he and Rebekah are up to.

I really hope finale won't be disappointing. Because the last few episodes weren't that great.

if elijah wants to create a utopia like season one, needs bonnie to perform a spell to makes everybody forgot crucial tragic moments is the way Elijah with honor & respect he lives  and bound for it a knight  thing if he wants to save all his family, bonnie magic took place may be a suppose scenario the writers like to mess with things create conflicts and we the fans had the final words, to crucify or applause them

  10. Maybe Elijah can talk some sense into the council.  It would seem, from what I read, that they turn their back on Caroline and Tyler.

  11. Don't worry, Klaus will be back soon enough. OTOH, Elijah will be back but probably leave again since Daniel has his other show.

  12. I actually expect Klaus to be back next episode - and be back in early S4. Julie Plec loves the character way too much to write him out for extended periods of time.

  13. Doubtful. They have killed Elijah way too many times for it to have any effects anymore. But they will likely write him leaving town again, since Daniel is only recurring and has a new show.

  14. Who can blame them? Its very existence is to protect the town against vampires etc. Caroline and Tyler might be "good" vampires, but you can't blame the council for not believing it right away considering the death rate in the town.

  15.  No one can blame them.  They've been kept in the dark about all of this but if anyone can change their minds, it's someone like Elijah.  He's a very convincing guy even without any compulsion.

  16. I do support Elijah for Mayor but he's too busy fixing hearts nowadays when he should be ripping them out.

  17.  I have no delusions about Elijah sticking around on a semi-permanent basis, especially with his new show in the works.  I'm just saying that someone needs to get the council together and talk some sense into them before they start panicking and doing stupid stuff.
