It makes me sad to see Tara still on the show. I guess despite thinking she was still on I hoped she was finally off the show and it was the start of TPTB purging useless characters. Sigh....
I hope some fun posters come out soon. I was disappointed last year compared to the brilliant promotional materials for the first 3 years!!
I feel opposite, especially if she is by product of Vampire and Witchcraft....To become the things you hate, in this case could allow Tara to move on in better way. If it would be Pam's blood that helps turn her, it puts Pam in a mother figure role, which then has an opportunity for her to parallel Eric and all of his decisions he has had to make. Personally if Tara could find new found spirit in being a Vampire, she would probably be more like the season 1 Tara, but with super strength. Not saying it should be easy or anything, just that I think it would tie her whole story with everyone else's nicely, because she would provide a good axle for Sookie, Eric, Pam, and Lafeyette for the audience to explore the others further. Plus it seems like VAMPIRE Politics is more the center this season...so to me it makes sense.
She may be more like Season 1 Tara, and it may be a real story arc for her instead of the junk of hte last couple seasons too , you're right. In all honesty though none of that matters to me. IT breaks down in the most simple terms to me. The show needs to be more about Sookie and less about everyone else. Therefore anything that contributes to less Sookie and the season's central mystery is bad.
I agree it needs to focus more on Sookie too, but I also think it's a mistake to only focus on Sookie. I think Alan Ball was very smart in expanding the xenophobic issues and so I feel that he needs to continue to carry that ball with the other characters in order for the series to be about all kinds of people and how they effect eachother, but I also think that it is Sookie that has the potential to make people 'better', so in that sense I agree she needs to continue to progress and come to know more about whom/what she is, so she can continue to help others.

NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Finally, acknowledgement that Tara exists in promotional materials!
ReplyDeleteGrr! Was hoping Tara would stay dead.

ReplyDeleteI was almost getting excited for the new season, but now this sets me back to more of a resigned to watch it than excitement to watch it.
