Supernatural - Season 8 - 23 episodes; Misha possibly returning *Updated*
6 May 2012
Supernatural
Thanks to Cheryl for the heads up.

22 would have been more than enough, tbh.
ReplyDeleteAs long as its not the mentally challenged Cas we got last night. That got old after one episode.
ReplyDeleteYipi yaay! We are so lucky!
ReplyDelete*Doing some happy dance in front of my computer*
Now that I know this I can delete Supernatural from my DVR.
ReplyDeleteI love how misha's return was one of the the first things that has been confirmed other than length of episodes after the season 8 announcement. It's like it's that important. I like.
ReplyDeleteI saw another tweet that said 23 episodes, not 24, so I'm wondering if that person was mistaken. 23 seems more likely to me since that is what we got last season. Anyway, very happy about the news of Misha being back, and while I enjoyed Crazy!Cas in 7.21, I hope we'll get to see Cas heal and get better as season 8 progresses. I also really want to see Dean and Cas restore their friendship. Those two have a lot of issues to work through, and I dearly miss their profound bond. I'd love to see more Sam/Cas interaction too. The lovely talk Sam had with Cas in 7.21 was my favorite scene of the episode. I'm also curious as to why God brought him back to life after the leviathans killed him. It makes me think that God might have a special plan for Castiel, so it'll be interesting to see if that's ever addressed.
ReplyDeleteIt's not confirmed yet - Just a possibility.
ReplyDeleteThe same people bitching about the show being renewed and the length of the season are the same people that would be bitching if the show was canceled or got a shorter season.
ReplyDeleteTechnically not confirmed - Still just a possibility.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Castiels return being only for better closure and conclusion to this characters storyline. Guess Robert Singers word means about as much as kripkes and Gamble ,nothing .. Castiels return in Season 7 was exactly what it looked like fan pandering. Not whats best for the show.or what fits Was ready to leave in mid season 6 until the brotherhood and brotherly love was returned will see if the show stays true to what Sera said about the brothers bond deepening since what they say means nothing
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Misha back, so it's nice to see, even if it hasn't been confirmed... though I think I'd like it best if he were to become human. It'd be really interesting to see how he can help without the benefit of his angel mojo - he still has thousands of years of knowledge, of course, and I think it would be cool to see him in that capacity. Though it was kind of fun to see the angels return last night, I think the arc has played out in general.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, like I said... I'd like to see Misha back every now and then. I think he adds a fun dynamic, even if the show is first and foremost about the Winchesters. It's okay to ask for a little help every now and then, and it's probably reassuring for them to know they have a friend out there that they can count on when they need him (assuming he's not going to stay crazy cakes).
There's never pleasing some people. Quit bitching and either enjoy the show, or stop watching.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see some Sam/Cas stuff, too. "Boy with the demon blood" aside, I always thought Sam and Cas would make really great friends... it's amazing how little interaction they've had over the past three seasons, and I loved that scene in last night's episode.
ReplyDelete24 OMG they add two more episode misha is a fact he will return his role is key ingredient in the story line new plot his ambiguity will create confucion and problems to spice things
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of 24 episodes, I don't mind that Castiel will back. I am not his biggest fan, but I also don't dislike him either. If it helps the story then I am all for it. Since Jeremy Carver now runs the show with Robert Singer, not Robert on his own, then I am assuming that Jeremy has an idea for a story for Castiel that he wants to tell. Since Jeremy was here during season 4 and 5 when Castiel was introduced to the show, I am not surprised that he has decided to bring Castiel. It is his story to tell and I look forward to hearing his story. Just I have enjoyed both Kripke's and Gamble's stories. Looking forward to season 8.
ReplyDeleteCastiel back ... yet again. :/ It may not be "official", but it'd be amazing if it didn't happen. I'm going to give the new season a chance, but if it's business as usual, I may as well give up and close the book on this series for good.
ReplyDeleteNope.
ReplyDeleteNeither of these makes me at all excited for next season. :-/
ReplyDeleteI bet that by the end of this season, Cas will be sane again.
ReplyDeleteHere we to again. Complaints. I ecstatic to have Cas and I don't mind how he is right now. Cas is dealing in his way. 24 episodes shows just how much the CW likes and trusts the show. I could do with even more. I love Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteI would love if God had some plan for Cas, but maybe this time he was just brought back to clean his mess like Dean suggested.
ReplyDeleteI guess the mending of the profound bound will be one of the emotional arc of the season.
This was the perfect out for Castiel. He and Sam had their speaks and I think Dean had come to an understanding. More of an understanding of that was how it was going to be. He had helped the boys one last time and should have flown off into the moonlight.
ReplyDeleteI heard this rumor too. Is it officially confirmed?
ReplyDeleteWoah! Were did you hear that Castiel was a key ingredient to season 8's story line? I have not heard that rumor aty all.
ReplyDeleteThat was a great scene between Sam and Castiel. I just don't know where they can go with the character anymore. Unless the boys go after god.
ReplyDeleteCastiel is ONE of the most interesting things of the show. It's good that he's back. That said, it's just ONE element of the show. Not the main element. It's not the Castiel Show.. People don't need to get too upset with his continued presence in the show.
ReplyDeleteI want the extra episode to be a Crowley centric - a day in the life of Crowley.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome 24 episodes and more Cas.
ReplyDeleteawesome idea!
ReplyDeleteSounds awesome :D And if Jeremy Carver holds out on my expectations everything will be perfect, in my opinion of course. It seems my perfect is some other people's worst nightmares lol.
ReplyDelete:-D We need a LOT more Crowley next year
ReplyDeleteBefore intel about a "healer" was released, I thought for sure Castiel was going to return as a human this season. I think it would be interesting to see him adjust to that. We got a taste in season 5, but I think it would be cool to see him as a potential asset without his powers.
ReplyDeleteInteresting to SOME fans. Every character I think is interesting ends up dead for good on this show, though. Well, except for Bobby. But I rather hope he's released from his ghost state after the finale. Talk about a guy who deserves to rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteGasp! Oh please!!! OMG A sort of Weekend at Bobby's for Crowley!
ReplyDeleteHas Mark S ever been featured in his own episode? I've seen most of the shows he's done, but I can't think of any total MarkS one. The closest I can think of is the BSG one.
:DDDDDDDDD
ReplyDeleteDoing my happy dance!Thinking back to when my fellow Cas-fans were afraid we'd never see him again, and when we were afraid he'd just die again at the end of this season, and when haters were telling us to "get over it". It was such a painful time.
But now, ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD!
I like the character Cas, so I'm ok with it. But I do hope the story is about the brothers [yes the usual complaint], Just because they say it's about them, and they're on screen more than anyone else, doesn't mean the STORY is about them.
ReplyDeleteThe writers need to write for Sam & Dean in mind first. They sometimes become plot devices to serve the story needs of minor characters, too often lately.
Crazy Cas is a nice solution to the deus ex problem, like someone pointed out in the poll thread. But am I alone in hoping most of the old personality comes back? It was too much Misha, and not enough Cas, if you get my meaning. It took me out of the story, and into the acting.
Regardless whether he's interesting to most or some, my point was he's just ONE element. I don't see how his presence should be that big of a deal especially when he's been in so little episodes lately.
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to complain about how much Supernatural has changed and you just "might stop watching" (gasp), then do. Quit complaining about everything. Enjoy the show. Enjoy the ride. Real fans will always watch.
ReplyDeleteWe all know 'possible' in TV language means 'certain'.
ReplyDeleteWhich is all absolutely unimportant. Renewal is the best scenario because those that don't like the show anymore don't have to watch, while the rest of us can enjoy more episodes
ReplyDeleteAll this says is that, from what someone has interpreted, Jim Michaels has said Cas will be in season 8. For all we know it could be the premiere and nothing else. I doubt if any storyline for season 8 has been set in stone as of yet since they just finished filming season 7. A tweet from someone at a con who thinks someone said something is not concrete. Let's wait for more information a little later in the development.
ReplyDeleteVery happy, but not surprised about Misha's involvement.
ReplyDeleteA little surprised about the 24 episodes, but definitely not complaining!
Yay! Both to 24 eps and to Misha! :)
ReplyDeletewell a small yay for more then 22 episodes I guess. Hopefully S8's overall SL will be much more engaging and not just have some great episodes like S7
ReplyDeleteThat was all in your head though. I mean seriously. Neither Robert Singer, Kripke, Gamble, or any other showrunner "gave their word" that Castiel would be gone for good. Just because you took a passing comment about "closure" and projected all your desires onto it doesn't really mean you can accuse the showrunners of lying to you about it.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just one fan saying it. If you look at the #riocon tag on twitter multiple people at the con are reporting that he said it. Somehow I doubt they all misheard him and I doubt Jim would say anything unless it was a pretty sure thing. :)
ReplyDeleteWhere does it say that SPN will be 24 episodes? Was that info in another tweet?
ReplyDeleteAnyway for me, even if they have 30 episodes it will never be too much,
especially if they manage to come up with a logical story-line and lots of brotherly adventuring and action.
As for the other bit of news about Castiel; well I'm sure I'm not the only one who is tired of him being dragged into the story-line just to keep Misha Collins around.
How I wish they would find him a juicy well-paid role on another show and that would close the question for good.
However, whatever season eight cooks up I will still watch, because the Winchester brothers are special, even when they try to make wallpaper out of them.:)
Fantastic news about 24 episodes and Cas back--extremely smart move to bring back a great character that interacts greatly with the boys. Now they just need to get Cas recovered more so he has most of his old personality back..
ReplyDeleteI hope so but I would like to get back to old Cas!! :D
ReplyDeleteAgreed about the boys being plot devises. Sadly I feel like it has become a trend over the last few seasons...
ReplyDeleteENOUGH IS ENOUGH............with all due respect..............I don't care if Mickey Mouse shows up on this show as long as MY BOYS........... MYBROTHERS...............are riding down the long dark highway in BABY.............listening to classic rock.................talking to each other.............eating cheesburgers...........drinking out of the flask...............holding up in crazy hotel rooms.......getting their monster weapons out of the trunk..............keeping the one liners going ....the facial expressions...the fantastic chemistry that these two guys have .............OKAY enough said....your are either a fan or next stop just get outta of the car............LOVE EM OR LEAVE EM....I for one have been riding shotgun with this show since day one and even though there were times when I had to grin and bear it....like when my boys are not together, in danger not talking to each other on the outs with each other (which is by the way the ONLY time time I actually HATE this show)...SEASON 8 please be kind and rewind to the good old days............you know what I mean. The show is called SUPERNATURAL so an occasional tree topper visit and ghostly assist is ok with me...I LOVE my Winchesters!
ReplyDeleteYay for 24 episodes! Unsure about Misha again. I wouldn't mind Cas coming back.
ReplyDeleteThat starts my day off with a huge smile, the chemistry these guys have together is so much fun.
ReplyDeleteMy HAPPY DANCE is getting out of hand and there are just some people that are NOT happy unless they have something to bitch about. Love this show, the brothers and Misha in any character they put him in.
ReplyDeleteIt said Misha would be back, not that Cas would be. After all he has played many characters on the show and I am fine with all of them....well maybe not new God, but you know what I mean. lol Loved Cas, Hippie Cas & Jimmy the best.
ReplyDelete"Fans" act like someone is standing with a gun to their head, that is what the channel button is for...change it. I stopped watching Lost Girl because I could not stand one of the characters, but did not keep complaining on the forum.
ReplyDeletePerfect comment and love the "get outta of the car".
ReplyDeleteCan't have Cas without Misha. ;)
ReplyDeleteWell, in the history of producers saying things about an upcoming season, I take a wait and see attitude since Kripke always said things that never came to pass and Sera was the queen of misdirect. Jim may have indeed said something simply to make the fans at the con happy or they may be adding Cas as a third Winchester. We don't know from one comment made by one producer at a convention. Like I said, nothing is set in stone yet. Jim Michaels is not a writer or showrunner but a producer, and for all we know it could mean Cas is in one episode. PErsonally, I think Castiel's character has run its course and I'd like to see him redeemed and go on his merry little angelic way. But seriously, I don't care either way as long as we get back to action/horror and fun instead of depression. I trust Jeremy Carver to tell a good season long story. What I don't trust is things said at a convention about a season where the work and planning has barely even begun.
ReplyDeleteFound this on Jim Micheal twitter page this morning
ReplyDelete@TheJimMichaels have a a great time in Brazil!!can i ask you smt is Misha coming back as a regular in s8 or just for 2-3 episodes?
1h Jim Michaels @TheJimMichaels @ladykatiaanne don't know yet!
Thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteIn my experience, possible in TV land means we haven't got to the hard part of negotiations but we want to know if there is interest. A good example is Netflix who has maybe possibly decided to continue/bring back a dozen shows in the last 6 months but so far have only negotiated Arrested Development. I hope this is true but TV is all smokescreen and rumor until the official press release and even that is mostly PR.
ReplyDeleteAt some point someone is going to wise up and give the man his own show. I hope they use him well on Supernatural and Leverage up to that point though. Mark Sheppard makes all things better.
ReplyDeleteThat makes me really happy ;)
ReplyDeleteThe return of Castiel for season 8 seems like a little bit repetitive for me. And here we go again: Dean and Castiel scenes, Destiel, blah blah... Sam alone with no one, besides Dean - and sometimes not even Dean, Dean grumpy and angry all the time, with depression and anger issues and blah blah...What i really want to see is Sam and Dean and their relationship as brothers getting better. Their relationship is lifeless, with no light right now. I want to see Sam and Dean old relationship back. It's too much to ask??? And seriously, for the ones who are complaining that there are fans complaining, i really don't care about what you think. I'm also a fan - even if you think i'm not, because i'm not obliged to like Castiel just because you do - and i have the right to complain as much as i want. The writers seem to care about what the fans think, so they have to listen and read ALL OF THEM and not only the Destiel and Castiel fans. I don't care about Castiel because what i really want to see is Sam and Dean. Bobby and Castiel are important, but as secondary characters, not as a substitute characters. I also want to see Sam W to get a friend or an ally for him. I'm sick and tired to see only Dean getting love for the characters and to see Sam W as an adornment of the show. The secondary characters are created to interact with the main characters in the same level, not only with one. I know that Jeremy Carver is a Castiel and Destiel fan, so i'm not really enthusiastic about Castiel return....
ReplyDeleteI detest Castiel. I hope Jeremy Carver has the guts to end this disgusting character for good. We need to get back to Sam and Dean together, not needing everybody and his brother to help them. They're nothing but secondary characters this season. Cas is always the deux ex machina which always bails them out and saves the day. The guys are reduced to morons who can't use a computer, figure out a library or do anything on their own when Cas is around.
ReplyDeleteI've just heard it's 23 episodes, not 24. Seems like a lot got lost in translation this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Jeremy Carver would be brave and get rid of Cas and Bobby for good. I love Bobby but I feel like the whole storyline of killing him off was a complete waste of time this season. They shouldn't have gone there if they didn't intend on sticking to their decision. As for Cas he has served his purpose on the show and it feels like they just keep bringing back as fan service.
ReplyDeleteI'd like the writers to spend the season concentrating on writing a decent storyline for the brothers and a cohesive and interesting mythological arc. I'm tired of the boys being plot devices in their own show. I'm tired of endless meaningless MOTW episodes and redundant story arcs.
Concentrate on the writing of the two main characters before you start worrying about adding others. If the writers have no interest in Sam and Dean then maybe they should rebrand the show and let people know so they can make the decision whether they want to continue watching or not instead of stringing them along for another season.
I'd like a season where Sam isnt treated like crap, given very little to do, used as a plot device, written as wallpaper. O'd like for Dean to not have the same old lame angst/guilt/depression storyline its getting old.
You've basically just highlighted one of this seasons biggest complaints. Its all very well having other characters but not at the expense of the writing of Sam and Dean.
ReplyDeleteOK i'm thinking we should wait till we get official confirmation probably during upfronts?
ReplyDeletespencersmom1: " The guys are reduced to morons who can't use a computer, figure out a library or do anything on their own when Cas is around."
ReplyDeleteYou mean when Bobby is around? Or Charlie, or Frank?
Yep. See how Cas translated the word of God and fiercely smited the route of flowers and the honeybees.
Totally the deus ex machina who saved the day and reduce the brothers to complete moroms ... totally!
I don't mind Castiel coming back as long as a) the writers find him a decent storyline for next season and he stays a secondary character and b) they make it clear he will be back next season and NOT another might be/might not be. The number of cliffhangers we've had about Cas' future is completely ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteIf that's not possible then just get rid of the character.
My 5 year old niece can write better than you. Show some respect to human kind.
ReplyDeleteJust 3 things I would like for season 8:
ReplyDelete- I like Cas. As long as they don't overuse him, I don't mind him being in the next season.
- I hope we get a little more Sam Winchester POV. And maybe a girl for him too.
- And lastly, and I feel most passionate about this one: I hope we get a storyline for Dean Winchester. Even if it's crappy and lasts only two episodes. Just something, I don't care what it is. Maybe even get Jensen to play another version of himself, like Jared did with Soulless Sam and Misha did with Godstiel. They rocked it, and I'm 100% sure he would too.
Oh I totally agree and it has taken me a while to understand that the boys are now both point devices wherein their issues are the same rehashed over and over again with no solution or growth. I got upset when Sam became a plot device but I also knew that Dean drives the show but now? DEAN has become a plot device and it has become so sad. You're right--if they continue this then they should rebrand the show and let people decide whether they want to watch or not
ReplyDeleteWe did get to see Dean play a different version of himself in a sense, in 5x04 (The End). It might not have been incredibly obvious, and the differences between the two were subtle, but I thought that really showcased his talent. It was amazing how you knew exactly which Dean you were seeing. But yeah, it would be cool to see him have the opportunity to do that again - I mean wow, Misha has played what, 7 different versions of Cas at this point? I love it.
ReplyDeleteAHH, ones persons trash is anothers treasure...I LOVE CASTIEL, but will take Misha in any character they want to put him in. Have enjoyed them all.
ReplyDeleteI know Cas a common complaint, and I'm not begrudging other people their opinions... but have you been watching this season? Cas has been in a grand total of four episodes this season, and he hasn't bailed the brothers out of anything in any of them, with the exception of taking Sam's crazy into himself. That was one time. You could hardly claim he's being used as a deus ex machina device this season. If anything, you could make that complaint about Bobby or Frank.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is just me, but when I dislike almost every thing about a show, I STOP watching. Have done that with Lost Girl & Bones, just not worth an ulcer.
ReplyDeleteJust because we are getting Misha back, does not mean he will be Castiel, but Cas is my favorite Misha character. Any of them or a new one is fine with me, it is just the chemistry Misha has with J2 that I love. I just hope it is true and we do get Misha back.
ReplyDeleteI definitely second that. I think Misha has been absolutely fantastic in each of the roles he's been given, and I don't really care what form he's in as long as he's on my screen. I think the three of them have some fantastic chemistry.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Are we never going to be rid of this character? I'm so tired of Castiel... Nothing personal, Misha, but I wish you would find a role SOMEWHERE ELSE. I want Castiel gone. I'd be over the moon if, after this season, he would die and never come back.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with the length of the season? I'm delighted we've been renewed, and 23 episodes is one extra than the typical length! No complaints here.
ReplyDeleteI was so hoping that, after this season, he would be gone for good. Looks like I've been disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI adore Crowley! My favorite demon :)
ReplyDeleteI think you can tolerate his existence for a little bit, at least for the mountain of fans who adore him.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like he's in every episode.
You definitely are NOT the only one... I'm so tired of the character. I don't have anything against Misha, and I hope he finds a good role elsewhere, just not on this show! Even if he is back permanently, as much as I despise Castiel, I think I'll still watch... I'm in it for Sam and Dean, even if they aren't being handled well.
ReplyDeleteYou could, technically, if he switched vessels.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of Sam and Dean in the show has nothing to do with Castiel and even if Castiel was gone forever, wouldn't mean that it'll return to the old ways as this season has proven.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, this, a million times, ESPECIALLY about the brotherly relationship! That bond (the TRUE 'profound bond' of the show) has been neglected far too long. Castiel has been back far too many times, he has nothing more to contribute as far as I'm concerned. And also, yes, all the characters interact with Dean and ignore Sam. He's become wallpaper! It's ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI despise Castiel myself, and I agree with getting rid of him, but I have to say it's not just Castiel making them look like fools. It's everyone! They always have to call SOMEBODY for help, they can't even figure out cases on their own anymore. Bobby, Frank, Castiel, insert guest star here, there always has to be someone else... What happened to our intelligent, strong, badass hunters? Where have they gone?!
ReplyDeleteI very much agree. I can't stand Castiel, and imo, bringing him back is purely pandering to the fans. I love Bobby, but he's just a plot device at this point. It WAS needless to kill him off and bring him back.
ReplyDeleteSam and Dean need to be concentrated on, not every other guest star and character apart from them. Dean needs to cut back on the angsting...He's such a woobie these days, all he does is whine, and Sam is, as you said, wallpaper. Barely a storyline, barely anything. They're ridiculously out of character, and. I don't know, it's just gotten way out of hand.
I guess I don't really have a choice, do I? XD I'm not going to quit watching the show... I'm watching for Sam and Dean, but sadly TPTB seem determined to pander to the fans and keep this character around, long after he lost any usefulness and purpose.
ReplyDeleteHmmm so either Misha IS coming back and Jim realized that accidentally let the cat out of the bag and he got in trouble so recanted his statement...or Misha isn't and they weren't supposed to be saying anything about his fate for next year at all because false hope = angry Casfans. OR the whole thing was a false rumour and just spread like wildfire - but seeing as how Jim Michaels WAS at riocon and that's where this info is coming from...I don't think it was a false rumour...
ReplyDeleteI disagree. I mean, there has been a little pandering especially with the whole trenchcoat thing. But Castiel is by far one of the most interesting characters on the show because he keeps changing and is the most conflicted.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's still shown to have usefulness and purpose. In the latest episode, he helped the boys. Noticed they didn't have him in more episodes than necessary. His mistake by being god, which propelled the story forward, his return which helped Sam overcome his hell damage, and in this episode he helped the boys understand what was going on with the tablet and give the blood, one of the components for the weapon to kill Dick. Three episodes so far, all of which have been important plot wise.
He still has use and purpose for the story. And later, when they think up of another use for him, he'll return, until then he'll probably not be around. So I don't think anyone really needs to worry.
Depends. Some people find him interesting. I find him boring and irritating.
ReplyDeleteBecky and Garth...ha! Both pretty annoying characters.
It looks like Cas will be back, but it's not certain whether it will be as a regular or for a few episodes.
ReplyDeleteBut we can never know. These writers can change their minds at the drop of the hat.
You can get rid of every single secondary character and guest star, and if the writers keep Sam and Dean the way they are, it'll be no difference. It has nothing to do with Castiel or Bobby and all to do with the fact the writers seemed to have run out of ideas in regards to where to take Sam and Dean next.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's the writers' faults isn't it? I guess the showrunner needs to fire them and hire some new ones... Or they need to get their muse back. I mean, I see fanfiction writers who write better than the show these days. It's just sad.
ReplyDeleteIf they INSIST on keeping Castiel (I wish they wouldn't) they need to fix Sam and Dean and their relationship, start putting them FIRST, and severely limit the amount of both Castiel and Bobby... Sam and Dean need to be men, and start solving their own problems again.
I don't think it's at the expense of writing for Sam and Dean. I think it's more like they don't know what to write for Sam and Dean, so they write for other characters and gimmicky standalone episodes instead.
ReplyDeleteI agree that they need to fix the way they're writing for Sam and Dean. That's a definite.
ReplyDeleteBut I actually would like to see more of Castiel or at least just the same amount. I mean, he was the best thing this season. I loved him. But I agree on your last comment. I want Sam and Dea to go back to solving their own problems too, but I don't see how we can have both.
Can't stand Castiel, but at least have it more like S4/S5 (hell, even S6) and have Sam and Dean solve their problems, get through cases on their own, and just stop calling for help like little children at every turn.
ReplyDeleteMisha is here on Brazil (my home)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness they are not typical men and will ask for help when they need it. Sounds like you don't want anyone on the show but Sam & Dean. Give the guys a break, how long do you think this show would last if they had to work the hours you are talking about. When guest stars are on, it give J2 a little break.
ReplyDeleteI think what's going on is that they're still in discussions with Misha about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree partially with you. I remember thinking it was a mistake to have Bobby spill all the leviathans infos when the bros should have been able to figure at least a part of the big picture, but I wouldn't say they were presented as fools all the season.
ReplyDeleteThey were hunted and cut from everyone and everything. They didn't have a lot of allies. Bobby died and Frank is presumed dead too. The bros were alone most of the time.
They kept fighting and inflicted
at least one wining hit (by stealing the word of God) to an enemy who
beat even the mighty angels. And they did good against the stand-alone bad guys.
Maybe it was a mistake to cut them from their ressources and allies when Sam was dealing with his broken mental wall, and Dean was brooding and angry, with Cas betrayal and Bobby death. Its just too much to deal with.
To say it shortly, If the bros had been mentally at their best, it would have been great to have them alone and hunted. Season seven may have some flaws but kuddo to Sera for the "butch cassidy and sundance kid" thing. It was creative and bold. I really liked the idea.
Damn!
ReplyDeleteWell I will think positive and say to odds are in favor of Cas return.
please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8 please let misha be in season 8
ReplyDeleteIf anything, you could make that complaint about Bobby or Frank.<-------THIS is exactly what i feel they complain about cas but never bobby hes always there and quite frankly it pisses me off great comment btw
ReplyDeleteI wonder how the lenght of the season is decided.
ReplyDeleteDo they take a calendar, retract events like superbowl and choose a number that fit the fridays remaining?
Is it decided by the budget allowed or the leading actors?
Well in any case, the more the better ... and shorter hellatus ;-)
I would love that. It is still possible.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how some angels fall and remain angels (like lucifer or Cas) when others fall and become human. (like Anna)
Concerning Cas possible presence in season eight, the question shouldn't be "how can we include Cas in the brother storyline" but "what path is consistant with his character history and evolution."
luckily, I'm not a writer because I haven't the
answer to that question yet ;-)
As far as the fallen angels go, I think the difference between Anna and the others is that she ripped out her own grace. That ultimately caused her to be reborn as a human. Lucifer was cast down by God, but I'm a little hazy on Cas. Maybe his rebellion and forced cutoff from the host caused him to lose his mojo gradually? I don't know... but there's my take on the first two :)
ReplyDeleteI really understand, I'm so tired of this whole Castiel story too.
ReplyDeleteThey have gotten rid of so many characters without a second thought, including John Winchester, Ash, Ellen Jo, Alastair,etc, etc, etc;
Then if we want to talk about angels, Gabriel and Balthazar were much more appealing than Castiel and they had no problem getting rid of them, although I'm sure they have plenty of fans too.
They've been drawing out this Castiel thing for too long.
His story-arc finished in season five because even in season six, he had nothing to do, especially in the first half.
He only made the odd appearance to pick up heavenly weapons and nothing else; the only thing he actually did was to break Sam's wall and kill some other angels.
Season seven is more or less the same.
If they really want to keep him then they should think up something more serious for him to do.
They have two great lead actors who can make you laugh and cry and feel true emotions when they have the right scripts to act out. It's a waste of the J's talent that the writers don't use them to their full potential.
In any case I will always watch because I love the show and what's still left of the Winchesters' brotherly bond, hoping that the new season will give us back some of the atmosphere of the earlier ones
It isn't a question of bravery but a question of inspiration. Jeremy Carver seems to like that character.
ReplyDeleteAt the mere mention of Cas name, people start to express how they hate him, I could argue that Carver is brave to ignore that.
Cas has a purpose as long as the writers find him one.
And personnaly, I'm glad they are fan-servicing Cas lover instead of fan-servicing Cas haters.
I'm confident they will not keep ghost bobby. Either they will put his ghost to rest or they will bring human Bobby back.
So many great characters, and yep, they've gotten rid of them all... I don't know about Balthazar, but Gabriel is my favorite angel.
ReplyDeleteSo true, the Js have so much potential, they're both fantastic actors, and imo it's an insult to them to not give them more to work with.
Even if Castiel comes back full time, I'll still watch. I'll be miserable during his scenes, but at the end of the day, I'm with the show for the Winchesters, and Castiel isn't going to change that.
Please not as a series regular. Tbh I don't need to see Castiel again in series 8 but I'd rather guest appearances than see him as a regular - that just feels like treading old ground.
ReplyDeleteThe union may have something to do with the wording of the contract. But I don't know for sure.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like he just doesn't know how many eps he's coming back for, not that he doesn't know whether he's coming back at all.
ReplyDeleteUsually 13 is a half season and 22 is a full season pick up. Occasionally things are shortened such as Bones for the actress' mat leave or CSI Miami this year for a new show. Additional episodes I guess depend on a lot of things like budget and actors like this year some CW shows got an extra episode but Vampire Diaries didn't because Kevin Williamson didn't want 23.
ReplyDeleteI think it's still too early to tell for these things. We want answers now lol but they probably haven't sat down to talk about season 8 yet, just have ideas about where they want the show to go. I guess once they discuss the season they will see how Castiel will fit in and also if the actor is available to be a regular, guest star or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI know he is coming back its not that big of news did anybody get a TVG mag theres a pic of him right there ok.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. A lot of complains last year I could get it, season 5 I guess, of ''Cass showing up and saving the day every time'', he did saved the boys a lot of time in the last seasons
ReplyDeleteBut in Season 7, we can't say that the 7x02 really count....so he was in episode 1.....17.......21, and he's coming back for the 2 last. We had more than half a season without him and reading the complains its like he was there every single episode 0_o
You're right. However, I still know what is going on even if I have stopped watching on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteBeing that this season's ending was re-written because the leads and a few others didn't like it, and the fact that there is a new (yet familiar) showrunner, nothing is yet set in stone. I'm sure Jeremy is working out the storyarc for next season, but at the moment it's more of a working idea. Since next season hasn't yet been layed out,Jeremy (and Robert Singer) would be the ones to know first, what's happening with each character. Neither Jim nor Misha (or any of the other cast and crew) is going to know what's going on with characters or storylines until Jeremy (Robert) is ready to set it out for them. So Jim and Misha can placate the fandom all they want, but even Jim said in his tweets that he doesn't yet know (and why would he? he's a producer, not a writer or showrunner). Ontop of all of that, hte track record of the writers has been to keep as much info about the new seasons as close to the vest as possible. This has always included the fates of the supporting actors. It seems more like Jim and Misha are placating the SPN fandom, without really knowing what Castiel's fate truly will be. Even the J's don't know yet, what S8 hold for their primary characters, so it's very unlikely Misha knows what's in the cards for Castiel, or if he'll even be in S8. Let's not put the carriage before the horse fellow SPN'ers.
ReplyDeleteif you look at the episodes that Carver previously wrote for the show, almost all of them focused on the brothers and their bond. even the epi 'free to be you and me' was more about how the seperation of the brothers affected both of them. yes, dean was with castiel, but his concern was for sam and if seperating from each other was the right thing to do. Carver was the one who gave us the backstory of dean's amulet, as that of being a gift from his little brother.he's more prone to writing for the brothers then the supporting characters. so i'm more confidant that we'll get back to what makes this show so great, the relationship between the winchesters, as hunters and brothers.
ReplyDeletefrom what i've read about the finale having 'suprise twists' and a cliffhanger that leaves 2 fan faves in 'a very unexpected place', along with jared recently saying that the finale was re-written resulting in the re-opening of a few doors and the closing of other doors. that sounds a whole lot like a retcon,to me.if that's the case, then it all depends on how far back Carver retcons and how it will affect or change the supporting characters. after the disaster of S6 and the mediocrity of S7, i'll take a retcon if it means getting back to what made this show so amazing to begin with.
Interesting about the re-write.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it was that they didn't like and why?
As you say however, at conventions each guest and actor tries to please every segment of the fans present, so in the end everything and nothing is said!
We'll just have to wait for the right time and place to find out what's going to happen next season and anyway, I'm quite happy to have a next season at all! :)
It all sounds so exciting and mysterious.Bring on season eight!
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree about season six for athough it certainly wasn't perfect, it was very enjoyable and it had some great brotherly moments, even when Sam was soulless.
It also had a logical plot and I liked the noir feel to it; plus it had some terrific episodes.
It's season seven that seems a lot more patchy.
I will give this comment an A++
ReplyDeleteThe TVG story is about the finale and we already knew Misha was going to be in 3 eps. I would love him to be in S8, but this story does not say anything about that.
ReplyDeleteI think we can bet saffely that the bros will be together and as
ReplyDeletehealthy as they can after so much angst. No sane writers would choose
another brother dissension as a main plot next season.
I didn't hear about the "two fan faves in a unexpected place" thing. More spoiler to chew on before the finale ;-)
There is not a lot of fan favorites still on the show: The more obvious are Cas and Bobby as they both are in a state that need to be changed. I really would like one of those two characters to be Crowley though.
I kind of agree with you that, after season 5, things got worse. Both Kripke and Carver quiting the creative staff at that time was maybe too much. Another reason to be glad we have at least one of them back.
i know some people liked s6 and i respect their opinions. the problem i (and many others) had with s6, is that it felt discombobulated. a few of the characters seemed woefully out of character and the whole souless sam storyline wasn't very good (tho jared did an amazing job with someone who was suppose to have no feeling). there were also way too many storylines happening at once, with no real sense of cohesiveness between them.there really wasnt a sense of a set storyarc either.even jensen had major issues with s6. since jared was playing an emotionless sam, jensen was left to carry the emotional aspect of the show, playing a much much too softly written dean. it nearly burned him out.he had to call an emergency meeting with the writers (and ek) to tell them things needed to change. thats when we saw the end of souless sam and saw dean starting to toughen back up.
ReplyDeleteto be honest, the whole 'sam in luci's cage/souless sam' storyline was a disaster waiting to happen. look at how messed up dean was after his trip to the pit. he had no contact with luci, but still came back all kinds of messed up. sam spent a longer amount of time stuck in lucifer's cage with luci.death put up a wall just so sam could function at a level approaching normal.that wall had already started to crack by the time cas broke it completely.either way, sam was going to end up being destroyed by the memories. outside of the hand of GOD or cas fixing what he broke, there was no way for the writers to conclude that storyline without it being a bit cheesy.they painted themselves into a corner.
i always felt that having sam (and dean) spend time in purgatory, rather then hell, would have been far more cohesive to the purgatory storyline.they would have had many more doors to open with regards to storylines.that's just my opinion tho. i just think s6 was a hot mess and s7 has been mediocre.the boys are relying on others far too much, the leviathan have the honor of being the most boring spn baddies ever, and the show has gotten away from who its actually about-the winchester brothers.
i don't mind the angels, i think theyre a needed couterpart to the demons.however, they need to stay alot more in the background. i do like castiel, but after everything the writers have done with him i do think there needs to be a conclusion to his character.he has no real purpose right now, other then a way for the writers to heal sam. i do not want him joining the boys in the impala for s8,as their angel sidekick to appease those who watch the show soley for cas/misha.i want the show to get back to what made it so great to begin with-the winchester boys and their journey.if they want to keep cas, thats fine. just keep his appearences limited, like they did with gabriel.the boys need to get back to doing things and figuring out things themselves.
FYI, Jim Michaels has since tweeted "
ReplyDelete@ladykatiaanne all I said was I didnt think we would not be seeing Castiel in the future but that was not intended to confirm anything." and "@ladykatiaanne that will have to wait for Bob Singer and Jeremy Carver to decide."
Thank You Pentadactyl. In other words, Jim Michaels is just speculating on castiel's future on the show. He doesn't yet know what the new showrunner is planning on doing. So castiel's fate remains to be seen. Here's hoping Carver brings the show back to what made it so captivating to begin with, The Winchester Brothers.
ReplyDeleteactually, i find the reasoning if many non-cas fans, to have merit. true, there are those who just flat out hate the character and dislike the actor. more often then not tho, those who do not want cas back have solid reasons for not wanting him back.
ReplyDeletepersonally, i have always liked cas. however, i do think it's time for the character to either move on or have a far more reduced role (kind of like we saw with gabriel.he shows up only when its condusive to the storyline). Kripke did not create the show around cas, nor did he intend for cas to ever become a regular. He created a show about 2 Brothers and their journey. So NO, I DO NOT want castiel to become a regular again (even tho i do like him and misha).I want the show to get back to what made it so captivating to begin with- The Winchester Brothers.cas can pop in,once in a blue moon, but that should be it.
actually, its ben edlund who loves writing cas. carver tends to write more brother centered epis.
ReplyDeleteits not the guest stars, its when the writers start to focus more on the guest stars then their 2 leads.
ReplyDeleteBack to my point, if the focus is NOT on the guest stars then J2 have to work more. No I don't want eps to just be about the guest, but once in a while I am fine with. Gives the guys a breather.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that Carver wrote great brotherly scenes like in "a very supernatural xmas" or "mystery spot" ...
ReplyDeleteBut he also wrote "the rapture", "free to be you and me", "changing channels" and "point of no return" which have great Cas moments too.
With luck, everybody will be happy next season :-)
'the rapture', i thought painted cas in more of a negative light. it showed him to be a bit bullyish.it was also more about jimmy and not cas.
ReplyDelete'free to be you and me' had dean and cas, but it was more about dean worrying about sammy and wondering if seperating was the right thing to do.
'changing channels' focused on the boys trying to outsmart gabriel, as well as a strengtheening of their bond.cas was way in the background.
'point of no return', once again focused on family and bonds, thru the decisions made by dean, sam and adam. dean's decision to give the middle finger to michael, came from his love for his brothers. again, cas was a secondary character.
yes, they had some good cas moments, but 3/4 of those epis primarily focused on the boys and bonds of family.
'a very spn xmas' had a hell of alot more than great brotherly scenes. it was ABOUT the boys and their bond.
once again, carver tends to write more about the boys and their bond, rather than castiel,or other secondary characters.
Yes, again it was a "natural leaving pre-speech" that should have finished for good when Cas redeems himself in the finale (I assume that's why Cas is alive - as Dean put it "Maybe you're back to fix things" or something like that [7,17]). Instead of closing the angel arc for "good" this time, JC is likely to have some version of Cas hang around in S8, inventing reasons to keep the character around, likely until the end of the series. I'm not a happy camper.
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Mekina and Skye... I'll keep watching for the Winchesters :).
ReplyDeleteI could better deal with Cas in S8 if he interacts with Sam as equally as he does with Dean. But I fear the Dean/Cas fans would howl if Sam interferes with their "profound bond". I absolutely HATE that BE threw that phrase in 6.03 because it reinforced a sense of entitlement in the Dean -Cas fans that locks Sam out.
ReplyDeleteThe travesty (more like tragedy) is the show created the Dean-Cas bond - which is fine I guess - but gives Sam no recurring friends of his own. That's why I wish the show hadn't made Christian a demon and killed him, and then killed Gwen. Sam can't even help Marin (7.17) with her ghost brother without some fans making snide comments. Sam has no one except Dean. Even ghostEllen and ghostBobby have more connection to Dean.
I don't hate the character but he's run his course. Unless S8 he's kept around as a mentor for the boys in case they make god the big bad.
ReplyDeleteYou thought that the rapture painted Cas in a negative light,
ReplyDeletereally? I thought otherwise.
We learned that Cas was brought back by force in heaven and tortured because he tried to warn Dean.
the episode showed the risk he took by
helping the bros. It showed it wasn't an easy choice. It showed that
Cas cared and respected his promise to Jimmy. It showed that Cas was
afraid which made his move in the finale even more admirable.
the rapture made me love Cas character even more.
It's about jimmy aka Cas vessel, and even if Cas was absent for a large part, we learned a lot about him.
For the others season four and five episodes, of course it's about the boys, but it's also about Cas. That's the perfect mix for me.
It's too bad others fans didn't see it your way, we wouldn't have all the complain and the cas hate if people just saw the brotherly bond instead of thinking it disappear as soon as Cas is onscreen.
I loved that ep, finding out what Jimmy went thru and yes Cas honoring his promise to Jimmy, it is one of my favorite eps.
ReplyDeleteThank you, tens, for your very sound reasoning :).
ReplyDeleteIt was also the first non-Cas Misha :-) Loved it too.
ReplyDeleteIt's a pity Cas doesn't seems to walk in Dean dreams, it was a neat trick.
I love those moments which help us remember us how different our favorite "wave of celestial intent" is, like in "abandon all hope" when we see the reapers through Cas eyes.
cyanat: "I fear the Dean/Cas fans would howl if Sam interferes with their profound bond"
ReplyDeleteThere will always be people who will complain because the show isn't as they would like. I cannot speak for the Dean/Cas fans, but I do love Cas and Dean friendship and I would enjoy very much some Cas/sam friendly scenes.
Here on spoiler tv, I saw more than once Cas fans say that they would love that too.
It's kind of strange that Sam isn't the one with more connections with people as he is the more sociable and empathic brother.
If I remember correctly during season one, Sam was the one which had connections outside. Dean was sort of a "caveman" who didn't now what facebook was etc. while sam had still friends from university.
that goes both ways. hard core cas fans look at those epis and see this ridiculous profound love between dean and cas (which doesnt exist, btw). when others point out what i pointed out about the epis, they become very rude and defensive. thats one of the reasons there's a huge rift between spn fans and hardcore cas fans.those cas fans see an intimate relationship between cas and dean, that simply isnt there.if anyone dares to disagree with them, they attack that person. alot of that then reflects bask on the character and adds to the backlash castiel gets from many in the fandom.
ReplyDeletedo i think castiel can sometimes overshadow the boys? yes i do. if the writers keep him, they need to limit his appearences (as they did with gabriel).the show NEEDS to get back to the boys learning, growing and solving things on their own, without having to rely so much on the secondary characters doing it for them. thats why im so very glad carver is now in charge. he mainly focuses on the boys and their journey.
I disagree, I am a HARD CORE Cas fan, but I have never tried to put a "profound" love between Cas and Dean. Do I think they have excellent chemistry on screen, a big YES, but I don't see the sexual part. Cas was given a task to watch over Dean and he takes his work very seriously. lol MIsha is just very good with both of the Js and adds to the show, IMHO. Does not have to be Cas, he was so much fun as Hippie Cas, a human and loved him as Jimmy. I would be happy with any character they let him play, it would not matter, the chemistry would still be there.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely AWESOME!!!!! Can't wait to hear more news about S8!!
ReplyDeleteIf I may correct you: Destiels fans are seeing profound love, not Cas fans.
ReplyDeleteAnd IMO, the "rift" is between hardcore fans on both sides.
Some fans just love to ship. It exist in all fandoms. Of course, if you say that their ship is "ridiculous" and "doesn't exist", some of them are going to react and be defensive. That's just the way the fandom is.
About people being rude: I agree that it's upsetting and shouldn't be existing in a community whose main purpose is to share fun and love. As you said, that goes both ways. It bother me as much as it bother you.
Personaly, I'm ok with Destiel or wincest or whatever float a fan boat.
I love the innuendo writers put on the show like the infamous "two queen. I bet" quote, even I don't think for one second that the bros have an incestuous relation.
Why is that a problem if others fans enjoy the show in a way that is different from our own?
by harcore,i did mean destielers, and not ones who simply like the character or ship him in fanfiction.i have nothing but respect for cas fans,or those who ship different characters.its those who dont leave that ship in the realm of fanfic, and will swear on a stack of bibles that dean and cas play out that love onscreen.theyre the same ones who bring up destiel at the cons, and try and get the actors to talk about it. its their trying to force a fanfiction ship onto other fans and the actors to try and make it canon, when its not.i have no problems with almost all who ship, because they keep the ship where it belongs, in fanfiction. its this specific group of people that have become a devisive issue within the fandom,by trying to push their fantasy on everyone else (including the actors), that most fans have an issue with. btw, its not just 'other hardcore' fans who have an issue with the extreme destielers. its a pretty even mix of fans who have issues with these people.
ReplyDeleteOk I'm right with you then!
ReplyDeleteAs Rehabber, I consider myself a "hardcore" Cas fan because I love that character very much. Don't know why it's just the way it is :-)
Definitively not "hardcore" in the way you view it. Categorisations can be tricky.
And yes, talking about fanfiction in conventions is just ... I try to be non-judgmental but It would never occur to me to ask that kind of question. I would die from shame before I heard the answer anyway :-D
Thanks for your post
I'm not a crazy fan of Castiel but he's an important part of the show who adds another much needed dimension and relation beyond Bobby, Dean and Sam. I agree that the focus has to be on Dean and Sam and definitely fix things in their relation but I just dont understand this outright hatred of the character Castiel. If he's given a good story line I dont mind him as a series regular as it was in season 4 and 5. Misha Collins is such a terrific actor and its always fun to watch the brothers interact with him, I'm hoping he returns with a good story line. One thing I would like is for Sam to interact with Cass more as well. Anyway here's hoping Carver gives us an awesome season 8 with all the beloved characters back and Dean and Sam's relation coming back to its basic, the core of this show.
ReplyDeleteThat's if it even was God that brought him back. But I really hope they restore their friendship too. Dean is being really harsh with Cas. I know he screwed up, but all Cas even does lately is sacrifice. Sacrifice. Sacrifice. And Dean is still pissed off at him. :/
ReplyDeleteI think it is telling that both Jensen and Jared want Misha to return. It is not just Cas fans.
ReplyDeletePardon me for the bitchy reply - there is a subset of extreme Dean-slash-Cas fans who would howl - but naturally not all Dean-Cas fans feel this way :).
ReplyDeleteAbout Sam being the bro with more who was more sociable, had more friends and connections - that really was only true for about half of S1. Once he had the vision of Jenny being in trouble in Home, he started questioning and worrying about what was happening him and his concern grew progressively worse as S1 and S2 wore on - he retained his empathy for the most part, except during his severe DB addiction and his soulless period.
When Dean went to the most extreme lengths to get Sam's soul back, Dean was all smiles in "Like a Virgin" when he saw he really had his "Sammy" back.
Already forgot ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe "profound bond" quote doesn't really reinforce anything. It just stated what was obvious: Cas has some sort of angelic fixation on Dean from the start. I know you don't like it, but it's canon.
IMO, denying it will just push some fans to state it more loudly.
I can see how Sam fans can see it as pushing Sam away, but I don't agree with that. For me, it's obvious that Sam has always been Dean priority number one and I don't see the same fixation from Dean to Cas.
Anyway, my favorite winged dude seems to have displaced some of his fixation on Meg, and he doesn't see Sam as the "boy with demon blood" anymore.
So I think relations will be more balanced next season and I hope his presence will be more bearable for you ;-)
If not, please don't take in a bad way my cas-fan squeeing. I don't want to rub his presence in anyone nose, I just want to share my happy feelings like any other fan :-)
I'm confident it's the same for a lot of Cas fans here on spoilerTV
I would love to see Sam having some outside friend, I bet Dean would be jealous :-D (in a brotherly way lol!)
I guess their line of duty kind of reduce their possibility to have friends outside the hunter world :-/
You know, when I imagine an happy ending. I mean, The boys living, getting older, etc. I always think that Sam would be the one with a family while Dean would be single, repairing cars in Bobby place.
The brothers relation would remain strong of course, they would go on a hunt from time to time, Dean would be the awesome uncle, the boys would pass their knowledge to younger hunters ...
Obviously a fangirl fantasy :-D but I definitively see Sam as the one who could still adapt to a normal life, not Dean.
I'm curious to have your POV on that as you probably "know" Sam better than me :-)
I am "cas-fan squeeing" right along with you and hope for a good ending and not a Butch & Sundance ending, want the guys alive.
ReplyDelete:-D
ReplyDeletesqueeing together make me happy!
Also;
I hope that with mutual respect and empathy for others fans feelings we
can maintain spn-spoilerTV a place for fun and shared love for every fan
:-)
so excited to see what happens in season 8. especially after finale...Castiel seems to be normal again but dematerialized ...
ReplyDeleteIf you had payed attention to the series from season one until now, you'd realize that they're not just fighting wendigos or angry spirits anymore. They are out of their range of knowledge and they can't just google a creature that is almost as old as time. So yes, Sam and Dean need some help every now and again. They're only human.
ReplyDeleteDepends. Some people find him interesting. I find him boring and irritating.
ReplyDeleteBecky and Garth...ha! Both pretty annoying characters.
Maybe it is just me, but when I dislike almost every thing about a show, I STOP watching. Have done that with Lost Girl & Bones, just not worth an ulcer.
In each episode he appeared in, he did something important for the plot. His mistake by being god, which propelled the entire season forward, his return which helped Sam overcome his hell damage, and in this episode he helped the boys understand what was going on with the tablet and give the blood, one of the components for the weapon to kill Dick. Three episodes so far, all of which have been important plot wise.
He still has use and purpose for the story. And later, when they think up of another use for him, he'll return, until then he'll probably not be around. So I don't think anyone really needs to worry.
If you want to talk about characters that have no usefulness or purpose, I'd say Becky or Garth fit that role better.
A lot of haters of Cas say things that just aren't true to justify their hate. But in the end, most people hate him for no solid reason at all really other than subjective reasons.
