Supernatural - Final Episode Ranking Polls & Favorite Quote Nominations - Polls
20 May 2012
Polls SupernaturalOver the midseason break, we ran preliminary polls to see which episodes would make it into the big Supernatural Hellatus Best Episode Contest. Since season seven was obviously not finished at that time, we still have 3 polls left to go. You can vote for your favorite 3 episodes in each poll. Below is the plan in more detail. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.
We will also be nominating favorite SPN quotes throughout the contest. You can nominate up to 2 quotes per episode and we will try to do 2 episodes per day. Nomination boxes should always be tagged on to whatever the current day's poll is. If for some reason there is not a daily poll, we will not nominate that day either. When you nominate, please put who said it and the actual quote to the best of your ability. This will streamline the tally process. Voting for a quote that doesn't appear in the episode will disqualify your nomination.
The plan: At the beginning of hellatus, once we have finished the ranking stage, we will have a head-to-head contest to see which episode will be crowned the Best Supernatural Episode. At the beginning it should be easy because more heavily nominated episodes will compete against the least nominated ones. We will take a break during Adam's STV Best Show Contest and pick back up where we left off when it is over. Towards the end of the hellatus, we will have the Best Quote contest, stopping for Adam's Best Character Competition and resuming when it is done. Hopefully that will lead us through the hellatus with something to talk about each day. We will of course also post all the new spoilers and have some other minor polls, reviews, and articles throughout the summer also. The goal is to keep everyone from getting hellatus fever and relive some of our favorite SPN moments with other fans.
Details: The top 100 episodes will be ranked by how they do in the ranking contest. The bottom 49 episodes will go head to head to see which ones make it into the contest. The reason for this is that the brackets only work with 128 episodes. This will still allow each episode to go head to head to determine the Best Supernatural Episodes. Unlike the actual contest in the summer, preliminaries will be open for at least one week each. Everyone still only gets 1 vote per IP address though. Voting will be in the order in which they aired and everyone can vote for 3 episodes per poll. Feel free to sound off in the comments about why you chose what you did. Here's to making the extra-long hellatus a bit more bearable.

I will b e out for awhile for a graduation but I will answer any questions when I come back. Happy beginning of hellatus. Let's make it through together.
ReplyDeleteMy pick for top comments - Pilot:
5. Sam: "I swear man, you've gotta update your cassette tape collection." Dean: "Why?" Sam:
"Well for one, they're cassette tapes."
4. Dean: "I can't do this alone." Sam: "Yes, you can." Dean: "Well I don't want to."
3. Dean: "You talking like misdemeanor kind of trouble or squeal like a pig kind of trouble?"
2. Dean: "House rules Sammy. Driver picks the music. Shotgun shuts his cake hole."
1. Dean: "No chick flick moments."
My pick for top comments - Wendigo:
5. Dean: "Nobody likes a skeptic Roy."
4. Dean: "This book, this is Dad's single most valuable possession. Everything he knows
about every evil thing is in here and he's passed it on to us. I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things - the family business."
3. Dean: "Oh sweetheart, I don't do shorts."
2. Dean: "It's trying to draw us out. Just stay cool. Stay put." Roy: "Inside the magic circle."
1. Dean: "Chow time you freaky b***. Yeah, that's right. Bring it on baby. I taste good."
Episodes:
ReplyDelete1. Death's door, Adventures in Babysitting, Time after time
2. Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie, Born-Again Identity, Party on, Garth
3. The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo, Reading is Fundamental, Survival of the Fittest
Gotta think about quotes...
Poll #23: The Mentalists, How To Win Friends & Influence Monsters, Death's Door
ReplyDeletePoll #24, Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Menagerie, Repo Man, Out With The Old
Poll #25: Of Grave Importance, The Girl With The Dungeons & Dragons Tattoo, There Will Be Blood
Pilot Quote #1 - Sam: "We've got work to do."
Pilot Quote #2 - Dean: "I can't do this alone." Sam: "Yes, you can." Dean: "Well, I don't want to."
Wendigo Quote #1 - Dean: "This book, this is Dad's single most valuable possession. Everything he knows about every evil thing is in here and he's passed it on to us. I think he wants us to pick off where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things - the family business."
Wendigo Quote #2 - Dean: "I mean our family's so screwed to hell, maybe we can help some others. Makes things a little more bearable. And I'll tell you what else helps: killing as many evil sons of bitches as I possibly can."
Pilot 1: I was looking for a beer.
ReplyDelete2:We got work to do
Wendigo 1: 'I'm telling you now. besides, it probably the most honest I've been with a woman.
2:You know, saving people, hunting things. The family business
Poll 23:
ReplyDelete-Death's Door, hands down. One of the best episodes of the series, one of the few that managed to make me cry.
-Time After Time.Time travel always works for me.Also, great guest stars(Kim Rhodes,Jason Dohring).
-How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters, although The Mentalists and Adventures in Babysitting were also pretty good.
Poll 24:
-The Born-Again Identity.I was waiting half a season for this episode.
-Plucky Pennywhistle's Magical Managerie,if only for the final scene with Sam and Dean.
-Repo Man.Very interesting plot and Mark Pellegrino.
Poll 25
-Survival of the Fittest.Loved the finale and the cliffhanger.
-Reading is Fundamental. It was good to see the angels and learn a little about what they're doing.Crazy Cas was fun,Meg was great and I really liked Kevin.
-The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo. There was a lot of talk about Felicia Day.I have to admit,I didn't know before she came on the show. But she was amazing and her nerdy lines were fun.
The quotes will be pretty hard, but it's a great opportunity to rewatch some episodes and it should be very interesting.
I just have a question.Do the nominations have to be a quote from one person or are we allowed to put small dialogues as well?
Pilot:
- Sam: "I was nine years old.He was supposed to say, "Don't be afraid of the dark."
Dean: "Don't be afraid of the dark? Are you kidding me?Of course you should be afraid of the dark! You know what's out there!"
- Sam: "Alright...Jerk."
Dean: "Bitch."
(First time we hear it,I had to!)
Wendigo:
- Dean: "Tell me,Bambi or Yogi ever hunt you back?"
- Dean: "It's trying to draw us out.Just stay cool.Stay put."
Roy: "Inside the magic circle."
That doesn't mean I don't love quotes like, "Driver picks the music.Shotgun shuts his cake hole."
I just think that a lot of people will nominate them.
the second part of these poll is very hard find a favorite quote for each season OMG are to many and remember the tittle worse
ReplyDeleteyeah! It's poll time \o/
ReplyDelete101 pilot :
1. Sam: "When I told dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45."
Dean: "What was he supposed to do?"
Sam: "I was 9 years old. He was supposed to say:Don't be afraid of the dark."
2. Dean: "You got anything that's real ? My boobs."
3. Dean: "House rules, Sammy...driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cake hole."
4. Dean: "No chick-flick moments." Sam: "All right... jerk." Dean: "Bitch."
102 wendigo:
1. Dean: "I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things...The family business."
2. Dean: "Dad will have answers. He'll know what to do."
3. Dean: "Well, sweet heart, I don't do shorts."
Thanks Dahne, for posting these again. So, what happened to the comedy episode contest that was run during the winter hellatus, which one was the winner?
ReplyDeleteAs long as it is pretty short, you can have 2 or 3 part quotes. Whatever it takes to get to the punchline. If it's a long monologue/dialogue, it would be better to just pick the best phrase. You are good with what you put down.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I also didn't put "Driver picks the music..." because I expect it to be the number one quote from the pilot too. Here's hoping we're right.
I think the Jerk - B*** combo is going to go far in this competition. It's universally loved and a great simple way to show how much the brothers mean to each other.
ReplyDeletewow, this will be fun.
ReplyDeleteok, first with the episode polls
no.1 went with: how to win friends and influence monsters, deaths door and time after time. i really enjoyed all of these episodes.
no. 2 went with: plucky peniwhistles magical menagarie (one of my favourites from this season), the born-again identity (so happy to have cas back!) and party on garth (i think garth is absolutely hilarious)
no. 3 went with the finale 3 episodes of this season, reading is fundamental, there will be blood and survival of the fittest. although i found them to not as action packed as our finale lead ups normally are, i still thought they were incredible and moved the story forward very quickly. and it was an epic finale with an insane cliffhanger. this is gonna be a long hellatus so i'm so happy we have these polls and the best tv show competition to keep me entertained.
on the topic of fave qupte, this is gonna be very very difficult. i don't know about anyone else but i often find it hard to think of quotes from certain episodes that are just, run of the season episodes. the pilot had heaps of epic quotes in it but i found i couldn't really think of anything too awesome from wendigo just off the top of my head.
i went with the obvious from pilot: Dean: "Driver picks the music. Shotgun shuts his cake hole." and "bitch" "jerk"
and then for wendigo i did "I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things...The family business." just because i know it so well from every single previously from that whole season. and "i don't do shorts"
can't wait for the rest of this!
I love your quote picks. Dean saying he doesn't want to do it alone helped define his character for me, which was good because in the pilot I was worried that the character would be one-dimensional. As for your second Wendigo quote, I actually prefer it to the saving people, hunting things quote and wavered a long time about which one to put in my top 5 of the episode. In the end I went with saving-hunting just because it was iconic.
ReplyDelete"I was looking for a beer." makes me laugh every single time. Great choice! I love how they parodied it in WiaWSNB too.
ReplyDeleteThe "Don't be afraid of the dark" dialogue is a pretty popular nomination and is "Sweetheart, I don't do shorts." I love all the nominations because they are bringing up great scenes in my mind. Nothing like having Supernatural on the brain!
ReplyDeleteActually the winter hiatus ended before we declared a winner. It is down between French Mistake and Changing Channels. We will do the final poll this week to determine the winner. Pretty good choices the both of them.
ReplyDeleteI picked the same three episodes in the first poll. As for the other two, I am waiting. I need to rewatch 3 episodes to make a final determination.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the quotes nominations are a lot harder than anything else we've done. I'm good for the first 2 seasons but by season 4 and 5, I will have a harder time because I tend to not re-watch most of those episodes a lot. Basically my plan is to watch the episodes again right before nominating. Who knows, maybe we will have a SpoilerTV mini-rewatch party if I can figure out the logistics of it.
Episodes:
ReplyDeleteHow To Win Friends, Death's Door, Time After Time
Plucky Pennywhistle's, Repo Man, Party On Garth
Of Grave Importance, The Girl with the Dungeons...,Survival of the Fittest
Will have to come back with quotes, if I still have time.
You can nominate quotes for up to a week so you have plenty of time.
ReplyDeleteOkay,great,got it!Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for putting all of this together! It'll be really fun and a great way to pass the time till the premiere! : )
Disqus generic email templateI...L.O.V.E.. Y.O.U....THANKS I saw and read some of the quotes posted by other people some times is all dialog for one scene if you notice that one quote dominate more that’s is the best the same thing happen with the episodes we vote & the winner is the quote with the higher score that’s the way to figure out
ReplyDeleteI'm the same season wise. I've seen the first for seasons so many more times than I have seen five six and seven and picking quotes from some of those will be hard. It is a great opportunity to rewatch everything again although I am still on Hilda for another two months so once I get home I can start doing that for each poll. Until then, I'll have to do my best based on memory and seeing other peoples choices whenever I get wifi and can come online
ReplyDeleteA mini rewatch party would be so awesome!!!
Geez! That's a tough choice!!
ReplyDeleteGood to know - thanks :)
ReplyDeleteLove the poll quote poll exactly for that reason!
ReplyDeleteChose the "dad will have answers. He'll know what to do" because it shows the total devotion Dean had for his father then. Love the all Dean/daddy issue arc.
Already keeping "Daddy's blunt little instrument" in my fan pocket for 310. :-D
The whole "don't be afraid of the dark" dialog is the weechester story in a nutshell :'-)
Forgot about that one. I couldn't possibly choose betweeen those two.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to rewatch both and mark an x each time I laugh then count the total x
That or play heads or tails
:-D
FauxKripke: "Totally. Totally awful, yeah. Hey, it got us the front page of Variety, though, did you see that?
"
I love hearing people talk about their favorite parts of Supernatural. Sometimes it's something I've forgotten about or a completely different thing than I take from a scene and so I get to see those parts with new eyes. Makes hellatus a little more bearable.
ReplyDeleteI have a few quotes that I know I'm nominating of the top of my head. Usually they are ones that I'v not co-opted into my own daily conversation. The first of which is sucks out loud.
ReplyDeleteMan, two months without Supernatural? I'm not sure I could do that. I'm going to be 4 days on vacation without the internet so I can't talk about SPN and I'm already antsy about it.
ReplyDeletethey most create a poll for the quotes like in the episode area the problem is who receiving the data ,,the person had to know all the quotes for each episode ,create a code link ,then select the top 5 of each season ,when the programmer had the final number posted and we began to vote but had to have closing date
ReplyDeletei am completely agree with you those new supernatural fans had fresh new eyes sometimes notice little details that we past on and the first one home base fans people who go to the first paley fest or convention in the first big city they share memories and posted here for us to read and remember
ReplyDelete23:How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters
ReplyDeletedeath door
24:
Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie
repo man
the born again identity 25:Reading is fundamentalthere will be bloodSurvival of the Fittest
Plucky Pennywhistle's Magic Menagerie:
Sam/clowns OTP, unicorns and rainbows, the shark in the ball-pit, another precious weechester info to ad to the bros background. the bros bound during the episode was great.
Repo man:
Hallucifer+the forked tongue, jeffrey insight on the boys was good writing. Sam surrounded by flames at the end was a jaw dropping scene.
Death door:
Obvious choice ♥Bobby♥ the episode was perfect.
the born again identity:
♥Cas return♥ the special effect of the transfer from sam to Cas was pretty cool.
The smiting+remembering scene was awesome.
Reading is fundamental:
the episode was perfect, the dialogue was perfect. The sorry game scene was pure gold.
Finaly the bros have a way to beat the levi. Loved Dean pep talk to Kevin and Meg return.
I love spn, but when Cas is in, my love is just brighter :-)
I voted for once ep. only before reading the infos. Did the vote again with more choices but not sure it will be counted.
I would be so screwed if I had to sign a contract with Crowley XD
All of the nominations for the quotes come to me in a spreadsheet. Then I tally them by hand to make sure that I have an accurate account of how many noms each quote received. I haven't quite decided yet how to determine which quotes get into the final contest. I'm toying with a few ideas, but be assured that I will do my best to make everything fair. As far as the closing date goes, people will have 1 week to nominate their choices, so for the Pilot and Wendigo, I will close the nominations next Saturday. Once we have all nominations in, then it will go down to a poll vote like the episodes polls.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry. The way the voting goes, once you have clicked vote you can't change it and vote again. The good news is that you will have the chance to vote on even the losing episodes again so if one of your favorites doesn't make it into the contest itself, you may be able to vote it into a wild card position.
ReplyDeleteNo problem.
ReplyDeleteThere is a lesson to learn in every mistake ;-)
That was mostly easy.
ReplyDelete#1 How to Win Friends, Death's Door, and Time After Time
#2 Repo Man, Out With The Old, and Born-Again Identity
#3 Reading Is Fundamental, There Will Be Blood, and Survival Of The Fittest. I liked Of Grave Importance too so there was a little debate there, but rest was easy as pie.
haha. well, i've already been away for three months. i haven't always had internet but whenever i get it i have managed to download and watch the new episodes to keep up to date. i just don't have access to my whole collection at home or the time to watch every episode till i gdet home
ReplyDeleteDisqus generic email templatemy friend you are stuck to how determine the winner easy give a each quote a code number that the computer can identify then the rest is a piece of cake you download all the info the computer will choose the top 5 print that TA,TA had the best result create the poll is simple and pure computer math no one could defeat that
ReplyDeleteI still haven't watched the two last episodes (actually, I feel terrible about how little time I've had for SPN lately), so I can't vote in the last poll. In the others, I voted:
ReplyDeletePoll 23: How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters, Death's Door, Time After Time
Poll 24: Repo Man, The Born-Again Identity, Party On, Garth
In Poll 25, I actually loved all 3 episodes that I have seen, but I won't vote for them, hoping that the last two turn out even better ;)
I'm gonna have to come back to nominate the quotes. Gotta think first.
finally some one notice that is a thin also bother me a wild card alternative vote sound cool & right
ReplyDeletefor a change in the main subject imagine in the teen choice awards we had a tie between JENSEN AND JARED for the same nomination thats will be a hard to believe scenario will be cool if happen both are good actors, very handsome, like mud & nail close friend, that will be the ending of on of each bucket list in the acting area.
ReplyDeleteGlad this one was easy for you. I hope you find tonight's poll as easy. It will be the official best of season 7 poll where all the episodes will be competing.
ReplyDeleteHa! There's definitely a doozy of an ending to the finale. I hope you get to watch them soon. Voting is open until Saturday evening, CST. Quote nominations for the Pilot and Wendigo will close at the same time.
ReplyDeleteI admire your dedication to SPN in difficult times. :-)
