Supernatural - Favorite Season 7 Episode, Round 3 - Poll

26 May 2012

We have finished the first level of voting and are moving into the Top 8. Winners from the last poll are: Meet the New Boss, Slash Fiction, Death's Door, and Hello Cruel World. No real surprises there. This weekend is a major holiday in the US so I expect there to be fewer votes than normal the next couple of rounds. That means your vote counts more. Happy voting!

Also, don't forget to nominate your favorite quotes from Scarecrow and Faith. There are some fabulous lines in these two awesome episodes. Just think of it as a reason to rewatch 2 of the best from season 1. "I hope your apple pie is freakin' worth it."

  1. Scarecrow and Faith are two of the finest episodes in
    Supernatural history.  Combined with
Asylum before it, there is now great trifecta.
I just got done watching Faith for probably the 170th
time.  It is still pulling at my
heartstrings and I'm one of the people least affected by TV emo I know.

    Scarecrow Quotes -

    Honorable Mention - Vince:
"Check it out.  If I only had
a brain."  Holly:  "We wouldn't be lost."

    Dean:  "You know
my brother could give you this puppy dog look and you'd just buy right into
    it."

    5.  Emily:  "I don't understand.  They're going to kill us."  Dean:
    "Sacrifice us, which is…I don't know…classier I guess."

    4.  Bus Depot
    Lady:  "Sorry, the Sacramento bus
doesn't run again until tomorrow.  5:05
pm."  Sam:  "Tomorrow?  There's got to be another way."  BDL:
    "Oh, there is.  Buy a
    car."

    3.  Sam:  "You trust shady van guy and not
    me?"  Meg:  "Definitely."

    2.  Dean:  "Dude, you fugly."

    1.  Dean:  "I hope your apple pie is freakin' worth
    it."

    Faith Quotes -

    10.  Layla:  "I guess if you are going to have faith,
you can't just have it when the miracles happen.  You have to have it when they don't."

    9.  Dean:  "Hey, you better take care of that car
    or I swear I'll haunt you’re a**."
    Sam:  "I don't think that's
funny."  Dean:  "Ah c'mon.  It's a little bit funny."

    8.  Dean:  "Look Sammy what can I say man?  It's a dangerous gig.  I drew the short straw.  That's it.
End of story."  Sam:  "Don't talk like that alright?  We've still got options."  Dean:
    "What options?  You've got burial
or cremation.  I know it's not easy but
I'm going to die and you can't stop it."
    Sam:  "Watch me."

    7.  Dean:  "You ever actually watch daytime
    TV?  It's terrible."

    6.  Dean:  "Oh excuse me Psychic Wonder, but you're
just going to need a little faith on this one.
Sam, I've been hunting long enough to trust a feeling like this."

    5.  Dean:  "I'm not going to die in a hospital
where the nurses aren't even hot."

    4.  Sam:  "But you said you saw a dude in a
suit."  Dean:  "Well what?  You think he should be working the whole
    black robe thing?"

    3.  Dean:  "So Roy's using black magic to bind the
reaper?"  Sam:  "If he is he's riding the whirlwind.  It's like putting a dog leash on a great
    white."

    2.  Dean:  "You're not going to let me die in peace
are you?"  Sam:  "I'm not going to let you die period.  We're going."

    1.  Dean:  "That fabric softener teddy bear.  Ooh, I'm gonna hunt that little b**
    down."

  2.  Agreed about Asylum-Scarecrow-Faith! My first ever fan fic was a bridge between the three episodes...

    ReplyDelete
  3. Cool.  Where do you post your fanfic?

  4. Survival of the Fittest - Time After Time bad, yada, yada, yada...
D&D Tattoo - It was a tough call but it got my vote because there's no Lucifer in it.
Meet the New Boss - One of SPN's better season openers.
Death's Door - the Bobby / Rufus roadshow beats the beginning of the disappointing Leviathan saga.

  5. I'm terrible at the quotes. If I can, I'll try to watch some of these this weekend so I can nominate! :)

    episode votes:

Time After Time - slightly prefer this one over Survival of the Fittest. I like the time travel, I like the use of Sheriff Mills, and I really liked the 40s garb Jensen got to wear! It was a fun diversion, and even though we only had a few brother scenes they were really good ones!

Girl With the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - I adore Felicia Day and thought this episode was a lot of fun. I've said what I can about it in the previous poll so I won't repeat myself.

Meet the New Boss - this was on The CW tonight, and I happened to watch. It was interesting to see, with the finale having just aired a week ago. It's still a strong episode, and one of my favorites from the whole season.

Hello, Cruel World - Why oh why does this have to be matched against Death's Door??? :( HCW is my favorite episode of season 7, and so of course it gets my vote. I loved Death's Door, but there's so much good stuff in HCW. *sigh* It's not going to win so it kind of doesn't matter...but I made my vote anyway.

  6. Faith is constantly battling for the No.1 spot on my fav SPN episode list...it flips between that and Dark Side of the Moon.

I also love all three of those episodes! Season 1 had a really, really strong run of episodes there in the middle.

    ReplyDelete
  7. What is and What Should Never Be is still my all-time favorite but Faith and Devil's Trap always duke it out for my favorite episode of season 1.  They both have a firm place in my top 10 SPN episodes of all time list though.  Simply awesome TV.

As for the middle episodes, I completely agree.  I'm always sad that one of these three wasn't aired during the presidential address instead of Route 666.  I am convinced that if the 5.82 million people who tuned in that week had seen Asylum, Scarecrow, or Faith, SPN would be bigger in the ratings today.

  8. Survival of the Fittest - ok episode vs. bad episode
Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo - cool episode vs. episode that ruined Sam/Lucifer plot for me
Meet the New Boss - awesome premiere, one of the best of the season
Death's Door - tough call, but Death's Door was my favorite of the season

  9. I'm good for Lucifer to stay gone for good too.  I will say that I enjoyed Lucifer far far more than I did in season 5 when he was weeping and whining all over the place.  This season is the only time I felt he was diabolical or frankly, scary.  Still he was getting irritating there at the end.  I think he needs to go the way of season 5.  But then again I think a lot of things should have ended in season 5 - angels, brother angst, main people dying and being resurrected in some form, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Nominations stay open for one week so you have plenty of time to choose your quotes.  Only the Pilot and Wendigo nominations end tomorrow.  I agree with everything you said about Time After Time.  However, I think the biggest reason I voted for it over the finale is because the first half of the finale was really slow.  They need to shove some of the emotional scenes into the previous episode and devote more time to killing Dick Roman in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I chose:

    1.  Time After Time - mostly because the finale wasn't as great as they usually are.  The ending was fantastic but the build up to that end was way too slow and killing Dick was way too easy.

    2.  TGwtD&DT - I loved Felicia Day's part.  I wouldn't mind seeing Charlie again.  However, it really got my vote because there are major parts in Born-Again Identity that I did not like at all.  The same can't be said for D&D Tattoo.

    3.  Slash Fiction - I adored this episode.  In fact, I thought it was the quintessential SPN episode right until the last 3 minutes.  Plus, it has my favorite scene of the season - the diner conversation between LeviaDean and LeviaSam.  Meet the New Boss was fantastic but it gets points taken down for the heavy and quite frankly preachy, not to mention heavily biased, political opinions it shoved down our throats.

    4.  I'm actually good if either of these win.  Both excellent episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It should be interesting to see if Death's Door retains its crown as top season 7 episode or if Ghost Bobby tempered people's feelings about it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. oh I didn't know that about season 1. I wasn't watching it then so that's interesting! I firmly believe if everyone could see Faith, that everyone would LOVE the show (and Sam and Dean as characters). If only I could make people watch it.

Also, I agree with you on What Is and What Should Never Be. It's in my Top 5 for sure (and it's tied with In My Time of Dying for my fav s2 ep) :D

This is what I love...being able to name favorite episodes by season. It's kind of a cheat, but still totally valid!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Totally agree about the finale! The first half was very slow - and I get they were trying to build up suspense but I'm still on the fence about whether that was successful or not. I always get bummed out with how the finale's are handled on SPN; after season 2 that is. There are so many filler/one-off episodes and then the last two (or one) are so jam-packed that I always feel a bit short-changed. (Though Swan Song was near perfect, IMO). But I digress! :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Loved Charlie as well, and I would not be opposed to seeing her again.
I'm curious about what you didn't like in Born-Again Identity. Have you mentioned those moments prior? I have my own specific dislikes for that episode so I'm curious...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Definitely, I am curious to see if it will retain the crown even with that.

As much as I loved having Ghost Bobby back, I do think his return ended up being underwhelming overall, or the whole of that part of the story was a let down.  Even the 2nd goodbye, the boys didn't say anything about "thanks for being our real father" or anything, just burned his flask.

    ReplyDelete
  17. And,we've reached the what-the-hell-am-I-supposed-to-choose stage...

Survival of the Fittest - If only for the ending.Time After Time was excellent as well.

The Born-Again Identity - Well, out of the two,it was the one that focused more on the main characters. And I have to choose something.

Meet the New Boss - Second best premiere of the show after Lazarus Rising,in my opinion.Loved every minute.

Death's Door - Probably the saddest episode of the series.Like with most of these polls,I'm okay with either of them winning.

    Quotes
    Scarecrow:

    - Dean: "I hope your apple pie is freakin' worth it!"

    - Dean: "Oh,and keep an eye on that scarecrow. It could come alive at any moment."
      Sam: "What scarecrow?"

    Faith:

    - Sam: "But if there was something there Dean,I would have seen it too.I mean,I've been seeing an awful lot lately."
      Dean: "Oh,excuse me,psychic wonder."

    - Dean: "You're not gonna let me die in peace, are you?"
Sam: "I'm not gonna let you die period."

  20. Survival of the Fittest, The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo, Slash Fiction, Death's Door.

    Quotes:

    Scarecrow:
Dean: "Oh, I take everything back I said. I'm so happy to see you! C'mon.     How'd you get here?" Sam: "I uh... stole a car." Dean: Ha-ha-ha! That's my boy! Keep an eye on that scarecrow. It could come alive any minute." Sam: "What scarecrow"

Dean:  "You know my brother could give you this puppy dog look and you'd just buy right into it."

  22. Time after Time, The Girl With the Dungeons & Dragons Tattoo, Meet the New Boss, Hello, Cruel World. (I loved Death's Door, it was a very good peek into Bobby's psyche, but that also happens to be the storyline in which these people screwed over my Bobby and messed up his character lol)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ha!  I figure any time a show goes past 5 seasons, you get to look at it by season instead of as a series whole.  149 episodes -epic!

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's been a lot of fun revisiting season 1, which is of course the season I have seen most.  Listening to everyone's quotes puts me back into the season 1 mindset and sometimes I can remember what it was like watching that episode when it aired the first time.  This is one of the few times when I think the nomination process is more fun than the voting will be for me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sorry you got to "what-the-hell-am-I-supposed-to-choose stage" already.  I expect most people to say that tomorrow when Meet the Boss and Death's Door come up against each other.  Unless people are still rocked by the finale, I would expect whichever one wins tomorrow to win the whole thing.

    ReplyDelete
  26. One of the things I love so much about Faith is that the brothers trade roles for the first time and Sam is all adamant about saving Dean as shown in those two quotes.

    ReplyDelete
  27.  voted for :
    survival of the fittest
    the born-again identity
    meet the new boss
    death door

Hope TBAI will pass this level. "Reading is fundamental" is one of my fav. and already out of the competition *pouting*

    quote:

I love the quote poll! I know, I've already said it but I really do :-)

    scarecrow:

Sam: I don't understand the blind faith you have in the man. I mean, it's like you don't even question him! Dean: Yeah, it's called being a good son!

Easy choice. this one is one of my ten fav. quotes ever.

Dean: You know, my brother could give you this puppy dog look and you'd just buy right into it.

♥puppy dog eyes♥ When canon meet fandom :-)

    others loved quotes :

Sam: So Dad is sending us to Indiana, to go hunting for something before another couple vanishes? Dean: Yahtzee.

    Dean:Dude, your fugly.

(love those two because yatzee and fugly are part of my vocabulary now)
    :-)

I love the all phone conversation between John, Sam and Dean ... to long for a quote choice :-/
but John Winchester was my favorite character during Season one. Why do I a love characters who don't have a lot of screen time? :-/

    faith:

Dean: You're not gonna let me die in peace, are you?
Sam: I'm not gonna let you die. Period.

reverend: Oh no, I didn't, I didn't pick you Dean, the Lord did.

    others fav. quotes:

Dean Winchester: Well, I'm not gonna die in a hospital where the nurses aren't even hot.

Officer: We catch you around here again, son, we'll put the fear of god in you, understand?
Dean Winchester: Yes sir, fear of God, got it. (Dean is such a smart ass)

Sam phone call to his father (the disappointment of Sam when he realise his father won't answer)

"psychic wonder" "college boy"... It wasn't just banter. Dean was a little jealous of his brother, wasn't he?

I love how the bro's relation and personality was sketched out through all those little quotes ...

    ReplyDelete
  28. These two were awesome episodes for brother development.  We learned a lot about how the brothers face the world and how much they alike and yet so very different.  Rewatching these is a pleasure and all the quotes make it more so.

As for the poll between TGwtD&DT and TB-AI, I'm the opposite.  I really hope that D&DT takes it.  However, whichever way it goes, it sure is exciting.  We have never had an poll tied this late in the game before.  Normally I would be able to call all winners by this point and create the next poll for tonight, but this one will go down to the wire.  Should be interesting.  Of course whichever episode wins this round will be up against Survival of the Fittest next round and I don't see either one besting the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Survival of The Fittest, The Born-Again Identity, Meet The New Boss, and Death's Door.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I voted for Meet the New Boss and Hello, Cruel World. Next to season 4, they are probably the best first and second episode combination in SPN history. So those were the easy picks.

Cannot decide between TGwtDaDT and The Born-Again Identity. I loved both, they're both among my favourite episodes of the season. I think I'm gonna go with TBAI in the end, just for how dramatic and intense it was, but I really, really loved the other one as well, because it was so different.

Still can't vote in the first one, as I haven't seen Survival of the Fittest yet.

As for quotes, there are some great ones in both episodes. My favs:
    Scarecrow:
    honorable mention (3rd place):

Emily: I don't understand. They're going to kill us?Dean: Sacrifice us. Which is, I don't know, classier I guess.

    2nd place:
    Emily: so what's the plan?
    Dean: I'm working on it.
[several hours later.]Emily: You don't have a plan, do you?Dean: I'm working on it...

    winner:
Sam: I don’t understand the blind faith you have in the man. I mean, it’s like you don’t even question him.
Dean: Yeah, it’s called being a good son!

Now I know a lot of people love the "Dude, you fugly" quote, but as non-American and not even an English native speaker, I kinda never got the joke.

    Faith:
    Honorable mention (3rd place):
Dean: You're not gonna let me die in peace, are you?
Sam: I'm not gonna let you die, period.

    2nd place:
Sam: But if you know evil's out there, how can you not believe good's out there too?
Dean: Because I've seen what evil does to good people.

    Absolute winner:
Dean: That fabric softener teddy bear. Ooh, I wanna hunt that little bitch down. xD

  31. Btw, cannot believe Hello, Cruel World is loosing. I mean, seriously people? It's just like I will never understand the love for WaB. I love Bobby, but the Bobby-centric episodes never really get me all that much, plus Hello, Cruel World is such a brilliant episode. Too bad.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Meet the New Boss without a doubt for me. I'm already mourning my Hello, Cruel World, though.

    ReplyDelete
  33.  Agreed about Lucifer.  They wrote Lucifer this season how they should have wrote him from the beginning but it's a "too little too late" situation, you know?
