ReplyDeleteI loved Lost for the great cliffhangers. The finale of season 1 was excellent and so was 2.01.
ReplyDeleteAlias also had some awesome cliffhangers, mostly in the season finale.
And Jax´s son being kidnapped on Sons of A. also stands out as a great cliffhanger to me.
Lost had so so many! But the number one has to be the S3 finale! Nothing has ever blown my mind so much!

1 - 3 - 2 - 4 - 5 - 6 (sadly I am amongst those who did not like the end).
Beckett being shot at the end of Season 3 was one of my favorite cliffhangers and this year's NCIS season finale cliffhanger. Yup! :)

ReplyDeleteOther vote for Lost here with S3 'We have to go back!!!!" because it wasn't just an amazing cliffhanger it completely changed the show for the better IMO.
ReplyDeleteAlias S2 was pretty damn epic as well Sydney waking up 2 years later, crazy shit.
I liked the end, for me is very satisfying.

ReplyDeleteCastle season 3 cliffhanger - Beckett getting shot is my number one. I could barely think the entire summer.
My second is the Castle season 4 cliffhanger, "I'm gonna put Kate Beckett in the ground, once and for all" but because it's the same show, I'm gonna have to go with Bones season 6 "I'm pregnant and you're the father."
I loved the end, but wouldn't class it a cliffhanger! :)

For some reason, Locke in the coffin didn't shock me at all...? Not sure why I didn't have a response to that.
I think the best cliffhangers are where there's a culmination of the entire season in one scene, a closure to what characters went through the whole season. I don't watch POI so won't comment on that.
ReplyDeleteLost s3 end wasn't better than s1, I remember people were already tired with no answers and that time jump pissed a lot of people.
Dragon Ball and Tsubasa had great cliffhangers :)
Twin Peaks, Prison Break s1, Dexter, Game of Thrones s1 finale, Skins UK s1 with Wild World :D, Spartakus had great cliffhangers during s1, Rome and the introduction of Cleopatra, Breaking Bad, Weeds s2 finale (thats one of the best), BSG (lots of, but lets say s2 finale), Sons of Anarchy s2 finale also great, Oz pilot ending, Jericho s1 ending, The Shield s2 ending with Overcome and s5 finale (one of the best), Nip/Tuck s2 ending (one of the best), Carnivale s2 finale, The Wire s3e10 ending, Wilfred had great cliff, Damages with these crazy time jumps :D, Sleeper Cell, Mad Men s3 finale

The S3 Smallville finale was one of the very first finales I ever witnessed that really just made an impression on me. (I was around 13 at the time lol)
ReplyDeleteAs for cliffhangers...Veronica Mars had one every week that left me on the edge of my seat thinking "whatttt???"
The ending of S2E1 was one of my favorites ever: We're tricked into thinking that the main story has been finished, things are ok (there were a few time-jump things that kept me distracted) and then at the end you see an entire bus of students literally go off a cliff...I don't know if cliffhangers get any better than that... It was so terrible...
Another incredible one is from Damages... I think every episode also had incredible cliffhangers, but the pilot had a cliffhanger for every commercial break. But there were 2 cliffhangers that happened in 2 different timelines in the pilot: one showing Patty throwing the dog collar into the lake (I don't even need to describe this... but it finally showed in what ways Patty could get things done on more than 1 level) and then in the future timeline we see the reveal of a body... the body of the man who had just proposed to Ellen in the present timeline... Along with a couple other reveals this felt like an entire season in 1 episode.
Alllll CJ's fault that I did not get an opportunity to participate! :)

Also probably one of my most favorite cliffhangers of all-time is the LOST S3 finale!

ReplyDeleteFor me, every single episode of 24 left a cliffhanger right before a commercial. All 8 seasons.
ReplyDeleteSPN had some great midseason cliffhangers, especially in S1 and S2...
ReplyDeleteAlso since you guys mentioned ER: the Carter and Lucy stabbing. I'd actually count that one of my "best 2". Narrowing down the second one is a bit harder for me.
CJ I totally agree with you about POI show, this show was best new show , and I also strongly suggest every action-drama lover to watch this worth watching tv show, Amazing show.
