According to EW, the characters of Ellis and Dev will no longer be series regulars in
Smash's second season. It is likely that the actors will return for one or two episodes to wrap up their storylines but otherwise that will be the last viewers will see of them.
UPDATE: Brian D'Arcy James and Will Chase, who played Julia's husband and lover respectively will also be exiting the show.
I think mostly everyone hated these characters.
ReplyDeleteagreed, this is a massive win, and an encouraging sign for next season. the only character i'd be more happy to see leave is Leo.
ReplyDeleteGood news. I think it was expected... they have finished their purpose.
ReplyDeleteYes! I strongly hate Leo.
ReplyDeleteSurprised a bit that Dev is gone but not so much Ellis (thank God on that front). But I wouldn't mind if Debra Messing's character could somehow leave too, her character annoys me to no end.
ReplyDeleteI really doubt that would ever happen.
ReplyDeleteI actually don't think these two being let go in this way is for the best... They could've had a clear, definite cut for them, in terms of the characters, Dev and Karen were a little unclear as the season ended, and I don't think Ellis got the takedown he deserved after an entire season of meddling.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it too, but it doesn't mean I can't hope.
ReplyDeleteI hated the Ellis character from the get go (along with just about everyone), so I'm fine with that. I stopped watching after 3 eps, but I was fine with the Dev character up to that point.
ReplyDeleteI;m a bit upset this is who they left Dev... I liked him in the begining of the season but after the cheating... they kinda misstreated his character really badly topwards the end there.
ReplyDeleteHowever I'm glad Ellis is gone, though I think I would have liked something a little more with his exit... and there's also his whole threat bit....
I also read that Michael/Will Chase and Frank/Brian d'Arcy James aren't returning either

No big deal.None of them was a great character.
ReplyDeletewill chase /michael swift!! oh lord dont do it!!! why him!!!
ReplyDeleteHopefully we can find out Ellis suffered some horrible/painful death off screen so we don't actually have to see him again. I'm voting for ...
ReplyDeleteHe was dumpster diving for dirt on Eileen and fell in and was unable to escape before the garbage truck picked him up and crushed him. WIN!
glad that dev is leaving the show, Karen was too much flesh for him, he was too selfish
ReplyDeletei actually liked dev!! but i hated ellis so im glad hes going
