Of course there's a lot of talk about the actors' future. Rumours circulate about looking for apartments in New York, signing up to movies, more time with kids. With one more episode to go and an impending character death Grey's Anatomy is revving up to be one of the most dramatic season finales yet. Speculation is rife about which 'beloved' character will join George, Denny, Reed and Percy in TV SG(MW)'s OR in the sky, but who do YOU think it will be?
I don't know why, but I can't stop thinking it'll be Lexie.

My guess is Lexie,too.She is not as much involved as she was in the past-not with patients or her colleagues!She doesn't have a storyline of her own .And no,getting back together with Mark does not qualify as a storyline anymore.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure we already know it's not Derek, Mere, Alex, Cristina or Bailey. I think it was mentioned a couple of weeks back that it most definitely isn't one of the original cast members.

ReplyDeleteplease dont let it be Lexie. Not because I like the character but just the emotional fall out would be too much next season. Meredith and Mark would basically be out for a whole season. you do not get over your sister dying very quickly. I know there would be fall out from Arizona, but with Callie and not the main characters of Meredith, Derek and Mark. I could not face Meredith being sad and miserable for a whole season.

ReplyDeleteApril dying would be the worst thing Shonda Rhimes could do to a character she hasn't been truly happy ever and I think she deserves it. Also I think it would be kind of weird seeing as her thing with Jackson would seem so abrupt and random. They need to explore that relationship more and it's not going to take just 40 minutes to do so. Also there is still a little part of me that wants her to end up with Alex. She's grown on me

I really didn't think it would be Lexie until I read some of the comments here - now it's all starting to make sense. Only Shonda Rimes would decide to kill the character with the most emotional ties to other characters.

Very curious why so many people will think it's Arizona. This is a Shonda styled MFEO couple? Callie is not on the plane - why would they kill Arizona without a deathbed scene?

Well I think it's between Lexie and Arizona. I love Lexie, I don't want her to be the one, but, of course, I'd love how much drama it would bring to the show. So I don't really know what to think bout Lexie dying. It might be Arizona too, it'd make sense with Jessica having a baby and all, but I guess after almost losing Callie last year and all, it would be kinda boring bringing so much drama to the couple. So, although I hate the idea of Lexie gone, I would also like her to be the one dying. Just imagine those last scenes with Mark... golden!
ReplyDeleteWith all of the contract and spoilers in mind, my top guess is Arizona, second guess is Lexie, and third guess is Callie. I do think it would be one of these three. I guess it could be April as well, but I am thinking Arizona or Lexie is most likely. And of those two, I am leaning towards Arizona being the fatality. (With Lexie sustaining career-altering injuries, such as paralysis.)

ReplyDeleteThe BFF has gone off to die and it gave the chance for the scene between both Callie and Arizona about not leaving here and also gave a reason for Arizona to be on the plane and not Alex. The anger from him going to die meant she totally overreacted with Alex and ordered him off the plane instead of what she would normally do, which would have been to try to alk him into staying. He was a means to an end, the BFF.

ReplyDeleteI think someone dying at the crash place seems to predictable for Shonda, but it could happen. Here's a my take on a few characters:April--suicide. She really has nothing left. I think fans may be in an uproar because of how she dies not so much who dies. It's not often that television tackles suicides, and it's one type of ending Grey's hasn't touched yet.
ReplyDeleteArizona-- She was telling people not to leave her, but she ends up leaving them. This could also lead to the bittersweet part for Mark & Lexie. He had gotten a much closer relationship with her, so as he's losing one close friend/a mother to his child, he's admitting his feelings for Lexie. It could almost seem inappropriate to him to do this when tragedy has struck for Callie. Her death would also provide a reason for Alex to stay and take over the PEDS position. I don't feel it is her though because of the comments made by both Jessica Capshaw & Shonda when it was announced JC was pregnant. Another reason I can't see Arizona biting it is the fact she's one half of the only homosexual couple on this show. Shonda prides herself on diversity of cast, so I can't see her eliminating this relationship.
Adele-- To Shonda, this may be a beloved character. You never know.
Lexie-- I really just don't see a Lexie death really sending waves though people. Yes, it would impact Mark, Meredith, Jackson, ect., but I just don't feel as though her character has been focused on enough this season for it really to send fans in a tizzy. I can't think of many really good reasons why it would be her.
Webber-- I could definitely see this because of his crossing into everyone's story lines lately.
Alex, Owen, Teddy, Callie, Richard, Bailey, April and Jackson will survive or not in danger as they were not on the pane when it crashed.

ReplyDeleteI have been saying for a while that April will freak out and she just went on the "GUILT TRIPPING DRUNK BINGE" so she will most likely commit suicide causing the plane crash to be a decoy. There will be injuries, but I think the death is going to be either April or Owen committing suicide and I really thing April has snapped beyond return.

Its going to have to keep all of them from leaving Seattle Grace.. Soo i'm thinking it won't be Lexie because if i was Derek and Mere that would make me go, Maybe Arizona because then Alex can take over her job but can't see why everybody else wouldn't still go, I think it could be Kepner killing herself because that would make people sad and wan't to stay In Seatlle maybe, but i thought maybe Bailey would be the best fit because everybody would want to go back out of respect for her because of everything she's done for them, not sure if she got on the plane but it would be smart if it turns out she got on the plane after hearing the news that her Boyfriend's leaving her.. eeee i don't know so excited!! But hoping its Kepner she does my tree in! :)

I was thinking Arizona much as I'd hate that, but all the comments about Lexie are making it seem more plausible - Meredith and Mark obviously being hit hard, but Jackson and Alex may also struggle for their past relationships with her and Derek being the brother in law. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteBut your comments about her not having much storyline this season - does this remind you of George much? In the final season or two he just existed in the background much of the time, making TJ Knight want to leave.
Chyler Leigh has three kids, including a recent baby. And she was pretty much introduced to the series to a) give Meredith stability and family, which she now has with Derek and Zola, and b) to take over the reigns as the 'Grey' in Greys Anatomy if at the end of season 8 Ellen Pompeo left. That's why they all call her Little Grey. Now Ellen's in, Chyler could quite feasibly be out. Won't miss her that much, although I love her, she just didn't have enough recent good storylines to warrant a tug at the heartstrings from fans - except for maybe her recent declarations of love for Mark, which were not acknowledged by him (have her die and then so enter the guilt that he will feel next season: argh tv is so predictable!).

ReplyDeleteThat's not Kepner because the suicide thing is too obvious, and the actress herself said that the viewers could think at the end of the penultimate episode that they know who will die, but that no one could know until the finale ... I think it is Lexie ...or both Lexie AND Arizona. That's the only ways I can understand why Shonda Rhimes is afraid about viewers reactions.

I seriously think the plane crash is just like hoax type thing since we know someone will 'die' and they think by throwing in a plane crash everyone will think its someone whose on the plane.
ReplyDeleteBut i think its going to be April. and i think she'll either end up in some massive crash or collision herself or her commiting suicide. becuase she said it herself last episode she 'has nothing left'. i mean she doesnt, she failed her boards, broke her promise and doesnt have a job...and she didnt wanna disappoint her parents and she feels all alone. And itll effect everyone becuase everyones now close even to april, jackson will be broken becuase of it and will blame himself as he made her break her promise and he;; think its what made her fail her boards etc etc and April has started to become a fan faviourite suprisingly enough. And i think her committing suicide will be what makes it heartbreaking becuase if the writers write it perfectly, which in 99% of the heartbreaking scenes they write on the show they do then it will break all of our hearts watching it and we will all be tearing up.

Well, I got a theory.. What the plane-thing would be just a Meredith's dream? It won't be the first time that some tragedy happens in her dreams (remember the first episode of the 5th season when she dreamt about Derek's death after he spoke with Rose?) (this could explain the death of someone of the old cast). I think that no-one from the actual cast could die. Everyone has its storyline.. Well, probabilly I'm just trying to be positive.. we should wait and stop making our head spinning around LOL

ReplyDeleteWhat you're forgetting in this theory is that April has been shown to be a very strict christian, as evidenced by her saving herself for marriage. Committing suicide is seen in the bible as being a crime worthy of sending someone to hell, so I don't think she would!
ReplyDeleteThat's not logical at all. The show has stayed fairly accurate to the medical student world, and there's no way Alex would be offered Arizona's job, head of pediatrics. Also, this wouldn't account for Meredith, Derek, April, Jackson and Christina staying.

ReplyDeleteI think 2-3 people may die in the finale. I feel the announcement that has several cast members renewing their ocntracts is 'iffy' to me. They have been so 'hush-hush' on letting anything form the finale leak that I find it very odd that they would let the information about the cast members who renewed contracts to come out AND they supposedly signed contracts a few days BEFORE ABC renewed the series for one more year? Why not wait one more week or son to release this contract info? Smoke screen!?! Hmmm...! At the finale Derek will be missing until next season. He will be missing long enough to lose the contract with Boston thus mer Der stays in Seattle. Arizona and or Lexie dies and one other person dies and it's not a suicide April is drunk and almost walks in front of a car and Jackson pushes her out of the way and dies (like George died almost) OR April is so drunk she gets into another bar fight and whomever she is fighting with pulls out a knife or gun and Jackson steps in the way and gets killed. hmm...I think the following could happen leaving it possible for many to stay at Seattle Grace. Teddy leaves and Christian stays in Teddy's spot because Mer is going through a lot over Derek being missing and possibly Lexie dying. Alex stays in Arizona's spot. April is hired by Owen to fill an empty spot. So the finale will leave us wondering if Derek dies or not. (I think he will be dying) Whomever dies the wriuter is very worried that fans will hate her so it has to be a BIG fan favorite. Or a big upset like 2-3 deaths. hmm.... What do you think?

Derek is missing from accident and he is missing long enough for Boston to give conrtact offer to someone else. Teddy is leaving so Christina stays only because of Mer and Mer facing loss of Derek and/or Lexie. Arizona dies so Alex stays and Jackson is killed saving April's life and/or April or JAckson stays in Seattle offrered job because Lexie died

ReplyDeleteYou do realize that Alex would be a Fellow not an Attending right? So there's noway he could take over Arizona's spot (same goes for Cristina if Teddy left). Plus, if she did die I would think that he would be more inclined to leave for Hopkins, were as if she was paralyzed or severely injured he might stay out of guilt. However, if Lexie dies that leaves an opening for April in the 5th year spot. Here's what convinced me it was Lexie:

The fact that they didn't show who died here was possibly a way to leave the door open for who died. Could have been any of them on the plane (or elsewhere I guess). Could even have been the choice between Mer and Lexie if that's what Shonda wanted to do.

i don't see why all these people think April is gonna die. She's not even on the plane! She's at the hospital when the crash happens. I'm afraid for Lexie though, I hope it's not her...

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the suicide thing. I don't think she'll kill herself just when she gets a storyline (losing everything and getting closer to Jackson). Plus, I don't think they would show a suicide on Grey's. Private Practice yes, Grey's no. But then, I could be wrong.

ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I think it's going to be Arizona. :( I feel like, the conversation between her and Callie, then the sudden taking of Karev's spot on the plane, not to mention she appears to be trapped under a piece of the plane, I think that its gonna be her. It almost felt like she was saying goodbye to Callie, without actually saying goodbye. Jessica Capshaw is currently pregnant with her third child. She may very well want to spend more time with her family rather than at the studio all the time. It sucks! She's totally my favorite! I watch it mainly because of her (and Callie too)!! :'(
ReplyDeleteActually, I just saw again the promo and Callie is not on the plane, since there is only 6 people on in. Also, the canadian promo clearly states that the person dying in one of the people in the plane crash. So Lexie or Arizona.

ReplyDeleteI wasn't saying that Alex is going to become the only pediatric surgeon in the next season but actually this could be possible in a probably season ten or eleven; he could stay because he owes this to Arizona who has done the impossible to make him the person that he's now. Anyway, I'm not trying to suppor the death of Arizona.. I adore her but I feel that it's the only explanation to everything. Who do u think is gonna die?
ReplyDeleteAfter the new promo (http://www.spoilertv.com/2012/05/greys-anatomy-episode-824-flight-new.html) I'm pretty sure that Lexie dies. In this promo we see all characters in a not so bad shape besides of Lexie. She is trapped, seems to has internal injuries and close her eyes. Of course I hope this is a false trail.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with the theories about the probable death of April; this is not CSI and so much crime and drama doesn't fit with Grey's ;) however I have thought the same thing about Owen and the reinstatement of Aprile (of course to fill the spot left by Arizona)

ReplyDeleteplus, have to say it about april, she isnt a beloved character as shonda stated the person who dies was. i don't think she would be so concerned about fan reaction to her death. i didnt dislike her, but it seems MANY people did. i just cant see there being a concern over fan reaction to her death.

I think it will be Derek only because that would give both Meredith and Christina a reason to stay in Seattle. Killing Arizona or Lexie while sad would not have the impact of making all the others change their palns to leave SG and go on to other jobs. Killing Derek would mean Meredith would stay were her family is and Christina (maybe Alex too) would stay to help her.

ReplyDeleteI just went frame by frame to watch this promo since there are so many quick flashes. Just a few overall thoughts based on this promo... Based on hearing the first few sentences, it sounds like Callie will be doing the pre-and-post monologues for the show. Also, it is very clear that the character who will die is one of the six in the plane. So, any considerations for characters not on the place are incorrect.
ReplyDeleteThere is one frame showing Derek. He has a cut on his forehead, and it looks like his left arm is trapped under something.
Arizona sitting up against the plane so they are able to free her.
All the frames of Lexi are with her still under the plane, and there is one frame where her eyes seem to freeze upward even though Mark is there with her. So, it looks like Lexi is the one to die.
In Shonda's interview with the Hollywood Reporter, in reference to Mark and Lexi, she said, "I think we are going to see that come to a head in a way that's beautiful and possibly bittersweet and kind of lovely."
I drew some of the same conclusions as you that it was Lexie, then went into denial and now you have convinced me again. After reading your theory i am now 100% convinced it is Lexie :(. Why my favorite character why???
ReplyDeleteIf it's anyone at the plane crash, it'll be Arizona and that'll keep Karev at SGH. Derek might feel slightly more inclined to stay knowing it's just Mark and Cali raising the baby.... And we keep hearing it is a beloved character. i like lexi but she's nowhere near as "loved" as Arizona is--and Jessica Capshaw is pregnant again, isn't she. That'll be her 3rd kid...

ReplyDeleteIf it is to be "dark" it will not be Lexie or April. Sorry they do not provide much to the storyline, in my opinion. Arizona would be the most likely candidate esp with the forbodding of "Don't ever leave me", which could means it may beTorres. So, my vote is one of those two.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note: Season was boring to me. Not enough episodes and frankly tired of the Christina Owen / Teddy stuff. Lexie have some self respect. April's character makes Christians look like idiots. Get some confidence. Alex will stay to take over Arizona's role.

Callie is a beloved character.. She was married to George, she hated Izzy, she turns lesbo with Erika, then Arizona, then has the baby, then the car accident where she almost died already?! She IS a beloved character, and her narrating the episode- it would be perfect for her own death. Sure she was already almost killed- that's what makes everyone think it WON'T be her. :)
I believe Arizona will die, simply because she was originally not supposed to be on the plane. She only boarded the plane because she was miffed with Alex.
ReplyDeleteOn thursday I was sure it was Lexie, but I kind think it is going to be Teddy or Owen just because the entire plane crash is a red herring and who ever dies is at the hospital rather than in the crash. It is a complete misdirect! There are a multitude of reasons not to kill both Arizona and Lexie. It would show that Shonda Rhimes personally hates her Callie character because she has had almost the most shit happen to her! Killing Lexie wouldn't make sense because they didn't know if EP was going to renew her contract.
ReplyDeleteI also love the idea of someone "dying" in the finale and being resusitated in the beginning minutes of the premiere. If that ends up turning out that way then I'm voting for Lexie because both Mark and Meredith are there to try like hell to save her. Arizona dying all alone sounds to dark, especially for this show.
thinking chyler has asked to be let out of her contract. She did take extra time off at the start of this season to spend with her family, she has 3 young children and i do believe 1 has special needs. So this is most likely what has occured.

ReplyDeleteBut here's the thing. If Arizona dies that just give Alex another reason to leave SGMW. Now if she's severely hurt (let's say temporally paralyzed) he might stay out of guilt. Which ties into the "don't ever leave me" with Callie. Callie finished by saying "what ever you can't do, I will. That's how this works." That makes it seem as if something is going to happen to Arizona were she might have to rely heavily on Callie in the future (possible paralysis). Plus, Alex couldn't take Arizona's place even if he wanted to. He would be a fellow not an attending (same goes for Cristina) and Arizona is the head of peds. So there's NO way a fellow could ever take over the head of pediatric surgery position.

ReplyDeleteMy theory. So Alex, Christina, Meredith, Bailey, Richard and Derek have been confirmed for the next season. Owen, Avery, April and Callie don't seem to be on the plane. That leaves Teddy, Mark, Lexie and Arizona. They can't kill Arizona because the Callie and Mark characters would lose in appeal without her, the Callie-Arizona relationship draws a lot of viewers(unless she force-quited the series which does not seem that likely). Teddy dying would not give enough of an effect. That makes it Lexie or Mark which makes sense because there is no good way to save their relationship and also they both have emotional ties to several of the characters, plus they can have a heartbreaking seasonfinale where one dies in the other's arms. If they want the characters to figure out that they must stay together to support each other, they'll kill Lexie, though I'd rather Mark died, he's old and I don't really like him. :p

On top of that, Shonda once said that she doesn't want to give Calzona real drama for a very long time, they suffered enough throughout season 7 what with all the breaking up and Callie being pregnant and having that car accident with the weird singing episode. Arizona dying would just put the focus all on Callie and the baby again and Shonda just wouldn't do that, at least not this close together.
Plus, someone else mentioned that there's no good way to end Lexie's and Mark's relationship - which turns out to be true. She doesn't want what he needs and he can't wait for her to get there.
Lexie has been on Derek's service, so I'm assumin she's on the plane to assist him. True enough about Christina, but Arizona abruptly took Alex' place. I am positively apoplectic waiting for Thursday.

Meredith went instead of Bailey, Teddy let Cristina take her place, Jackson isn't there to assist Mark and of course Arizona took Alex's place. There doesn't really seem to be a need for Lexie to assist Derek if he is going there to assist himself. So again I ask, why was Lexie even on the plane?

ReplyDeleteI now have no clue who may die. I didnt think they would kill Derek but I did think he would be missing until next season. Ms Rhimes said a 'dark dark death' SO I am think a suicide or murder. The woman who lost her baby last week kills Alex? Owen after hearing the news of the plane crash and hearing they think no survivors kills himself? Adele dies and Richard cant live without her and kills himself? April kills herself? OR maybe someone from the crash site whom we think is ok dies. Arizona dies while trying to help the pilot and the plane blows up. A part of the plane falls on someone who is walking around and they are crushed and die instantly. Or maybe it is Lexie and we are all trying to guess when it has been her all along. But Ms Rhimes did nto finish the finale until yesterday I believe. So whatever she had planned originally she had to change due to the cast members who renewed contracts altered the original ending she had in mind Who knows Suicide or Alex is murdered.

Wings off a small private jet without the fuel are not that heavy and with some proper leverage it could be raised enough to pull someone out. Lexie isn't the one.
