i thought it was a little lackluster. so bobby's gone from the world, but i think he'll meet dean in purgatory. sam is all alone. this finale just didn't feel all that. i think it was hyped up to much. there wasn't anything that drew me in until the last 10 minutes
UFHVNAURSDVHAURUHRUHERUHRUHFUSFHNVFVUHAUHRFRUFIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DICK'S DEATH WAS SO FUCKING COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS IT SEPTEMBER 19TH YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Usually I watch Fringe Live, when supernatural is ON, but My Goodness, did anyone else thought the commercial were really annoying as hell or purgatory in this case, lol.
HOLY CRAP DEAN AND CASTIEL ARE IN PURGATORY!!!!!!THE IMPALA!!! Finally after being gone for so long she returns only to have Meg drive her into a sign…. Lol. Im sad bobby is finally been put to rest. I wonder tho if theres a hidden meaning to why he wasn’t shown being burned but if not then may he rest in peace and hopefully visit him maybe one day again. Right when dick exploded I was like, “ILL!!.....” I liked Cas helping and fighting back! Crowley took Meg!! Give her back! Crowley that dick!! I liked his chat with cas, dean, sam and meg tho. Man why is it Dean always gets stuck in the bad place. He went to hell first and remembers and now Purgatory. Sam went to hell but Cas took the memories and everything away and its not like he was punished like Dean it was just his soul which later got fixed (fixed as it can get). I bet this is going to have a huge change on dean’s personality and I hope its not to the point where I don’t like him as much as Sam. At least Dick is dead. Hopefully. I don’t get why Cas just left Dean there that’s not very nice!!! Crowley has Meg and Kevin and Sam is all alone. I cant wait for the show to come back!
I foresee an epic Season 8! Cas and Dean in Purgatory! Sam trying to find them! Great excuse to bring back fan favorites! And NO I don't think Cas abandoned Dean.
Good episode, sucky enidng Castiel should have ended up in Purgatory alone and not Dean that would have been a fitting ending.. Now I guess Sam has to find where dean is and get him out
DAMN!!!!Holy moly that was good. I'm not sure where to even begin...First off I loved the fact that Sam and Dean were back and were brothers again, like old times. But back to them later...
I'm starting with Meg. I was never a fan of this new Meg, always loved the original best. But she won me over tonight. I kept waiting for her to double cross them and she didn't. :)
Bobby... Oh Bobby.. I thought I had cried all I could when you died.. I cried again... The boys did what they had to do with Bobby's blessing. Killed me that they had to say goodbye again..
Castiel... God he had me giggling through the entire episode. I really, really, really hope he's back next season.
Crowley.. Man I've missed him. He was great as usual. And as usual he found a way to double cross everyone. I hope we see him again next year.
Sam and Dean.. what's to say? The were awesome. It felt like Sam and Dean finally. Only thing I have to nit pick about is.. Dean!!!! LOSE the Jacket!!! It looked too small and it was um.. ugly.
I really hope that they do NOT break the brothers up again for next season. But I know they will for at least one or two episodes. Poor Sammmy... truly alone this time... he's got no one with him now....
10 out of 10 for me.. and I can not wait for next year.
Honestly I don't know how I am going to survive this summer hiatus.I JUST DON'T KNOW.Maybe I 'll watch all 7 seasons twice to get over this finale.I AM IN AWE.GOD!!!!!!!Dean and Cas trapped in Purgatory???If you ask me this is not a situation they are going to get out from in the season premiere of season 8.And I kinda like that. But Sammy...dammit...He is all alone again. He is the one who has NOONE right now.No brother,no angel on his shoulder,no Bobby no nothin. At least Dean and Cas are together. And I am pretty sure that last glimpse of Cas was a sane Cas.I just hope he didn't really ditch Dean.Every freaking monster will be out for their asses.Especially Dean's.For OBVIOUS reasons.Wait.Could that mean...He might find his parents???????????????????HELL YEAH
And another season comes to a close...with another WOW! This one picked up right where last week left off and kept the classic SPN feel going. Loved the brothers being together as a team...until the last few minutes anyway. LOVED Sam running after the maid and telling Dean to shut up. Nice to see Sam taking the lead for a change, they haven't let him do that in a while. The whole "let's bone a nun"...that was just too good! Even though I saw the ending with Bobby coming it still hurt like hell having to say goodbye to him twice. Sniff. But it was still the send off he deserved. We love you Bobby...and we'll miss you! Crowley is still Crowley...knew he'd never settle for Canada. And now he's set up as the big bad for next season, or so it seems. At least he'll still figure into things as he and the boys still have no love for each other. And that's fine by me...damn, I love to hate him! Good for Cas for finally standing up at the end and cleaning up his own mess, as Dean said. But nice of him to bail on Dean at the end. And I had a feeling Dean was going to get sucked into Purgatory. It's a cool twist, I just hope they don't drag it out too long next season. But really, ending a season with one brother left in Hell/Purgatory or otherwise in jeopardy is getting pretty old. I just hope they can resolve this fairly quickly and get the boys back where they belong...together on the road, saving people and killing things...the family business. Oh and finally...WELCOME BACK, BABY!!! Even though it was a brief appearance and...gasp...Meg was at the wheel, it was sure nice to have baby back where she belongs too!! God, I love this show.
Bobby was not a creature...no reason for him to have gone to Purgatory. I thought it was a fitting end to the season, though I do agree on the sort of anti-climactic feel to an extent.
I just hope Baby is not gone for good and like that Dean is stuck in purgatory, this should prove very interesting in a little over 4 months. Ugh, I hate to even think about having to wait that long.
I think I cried more with Bobby leaving this time, was very sad. Glad that Cas is getting his act together and that Dean had a little forgiveness toward him.
The entire finale wasn't Sera's best effort, but the last minute was worth it. That was probably the re-write Jeremy Carver requested as a jump off point for next season. Of course Crowley would have an ulterior motive. With Dick out of the way, he's back to being top dog. I wonder if he knew the weapon would have that kind of a kick -- apparently Dick did if the look on his face was any indication. I'll bet Crowley knew, and hoped he could kill two birds with one stone -- get rid of Dick and the Winchesters all in one fell swoop. But Sam was far enough away to survive in tact. Lucky him.
With no one to rely on, he's going to have to figure out where Dean ended up (which shouldn't be too hard since they should have figured Dick would go back to Purgatory since that's where monsters go), but figuring out how to break into Purgatory and get his brother out is something that's going to be tough.
In the meantime, can Dean survive? A human amongst monsters? Is Dick back there and will he be gunning for Dean? Can he find some friends there -- Bobby's friend the professor lady comes to mind, not all the monsters were evil, but I'm not sure how much help she would be. And where the heck did Cas go? He can't abandon Dean. It's not like a human can just pop out like an angel or demon. I'm looking forward to seeing Carver's take on Purgatory. Maybe there are more than monsters there?
October seems a long time away, but I'm glad season 7 is over and I'm even more surprised they managed to leave it in a cliffhanger that will keep me anxious over the summer. With a new showrunner, new ideas and a new night, I will look forward to Supernatural's return to greatness!
Ok...I think they didn't show Bobby burning because he was Bobby...no need to make such a beloved character's death that blatant. We saw enough to get the point. I wouldn't read too much into that.
I wouldn't say Sam didn't suffer or just had a quick fix. He was in Hell...body and soul...with Lucifer inside him and locked in the cage with Luci and Michael. That's hardly nothing.
I really doubt this sojourn in Purgatory, however long it ends up being, will change Dean that much. He was already changed by going to Hell. If anything this is liable to either change his perspective on the things they hunt or at long last remind him why they do it...the motivation he needed all season.
Yep, there will always be some who aren't satisfied. I've had my episodes I didn't like as much as others, but I sure can't complain about these last two. Definitely awesome!
Time to call Death to get back into Purgatory. Unless there is a way other than the eclipse and blood from a native of Purgatory. But they still needed the blood even with Death.
Not gonna vote until i rewatch the episode, but on first impression that was a pretty lame finale. Amd as I feared i got the same feeling than on 7x17, too many things going on in the episode to actually get into any of it. Sera, sorry but you've got too greedy with all the storyline you leave for your episodes :/
I was left cold with Bobby's storyline and that's seriously not cool, though i guess i'm ok if he can rest in peace. Though i wonder if he's on purgatory too maybe? Too many build up for such a fast conclusion. i gotta say i was glad they included Cas reaction too, though.
Only thing i loved was Crowley. Leviathans were definately as lame as they've been all season... what a waste seriously. Gah, what a waste of a season really. Jeremy Carver if you get something wonderful out of this i'll love you forever!!
Maybe i'll be more possitive after rewatching or after reading what the plans are for next season. But right now, not too satisfied.
Poor Sam, how is he gonna get Dean out??!! :(( I don't think Cas left Dean there, he probably just webt to look for a way out or something... this storyline can be either great o realy weird.
Also, where the hell was the "don't get yourself killed scene"? did i miss it? if not... why would anyone cut that, specially with that ending???!
Who said Baby was gone? She wasn't that badly hurt. I'm sure Sam will take care of her till Dean gets back. And we know he'll back eventually. ;) I'm with you though on the hiatus...4 months...ugh!
I like your idea but what possible motivation would he have to help out again unless Sam summons him. But he'd have to go back and steal the meteorite or moon rock or whatever. And he still wouldn't have the blood of a native of Purgatory.
It'll be fun working this through my head instead of sleeping tonight.
I don't think it does. And he stopped before he went completely vengeful. I still doubt he'd be there. They can't bring him back AGAIN...that really would be doing a discredit to the character.
I just hope that Sam is actually the one responsible for freeing Dean. As much as I like Death, I'd rather it be Sam who manages it. The guy already caught enough crap for trying to find a way to get Dean out of hell between seasons three and four, then giving up after only a month. In favor of faffing about with Cortese!Ruby instead.
What's to save? I don't get why everyone thought something happened to her. Did I miss something? So she got driven through the Sucrocorp sign, big deal...she's had much worse happen to her in other seasons. She's fine and Sam will take care of her till Dean comes back. If there's one thing we've learned over 7 seasons it's that Baby is the one character on this show you absolutely CAN'T keep down for long! :D
I enjoyed it and loved Dean the badass hunter and killer of Eve, in purgatory... What a great set up for next year! I will miss Sera as a writer a lot.
But I also felt a bit let down, because there were 3 stories to be told, that should have each gotten their own episodes, and having it all in one left me restless. 1. Bobby should have been tracked, dispossessed, burned the flask, and said goodbye all in one, in my opinion. 2. More on Cas & his perspective on the Leviathans, and finding out his role (more than just an info dump). And seeing Dean come to forgive, instead of just telling it, would have been nice. 3. The kill Dick part could have been all on it's own.
And I was hoping for more of a reflective return of Baby, with both Sam & Dean - it is their home.. At least it had music and some road footage.
But all in all I was happy with where it left the brothers - Dean in a fantastic situation, and Sam isolated and in full protective bro mode. It reminds me of when they left Dean in hell, with us thinking Sam would be the one getting him out. I hope it's Sam, or even Dean, who gets himself out.
But for the biggest kick, I'd love to see John again, lol. Maybe that's why Ash never found him in heaven. Maybe this is the prime moment to bring JDM back.
Didn't I read that a couple of favorite characters were going to leave, Bobby was one, and if not Baby, who is the other. Maybe I read that wrong in the first place..I just want rock music and Baby BACK. lol
Probably anyone who found it didn't have enough action and too much Cas and Bobby stuff. None of the three bothered me (I love Bobby and Cas, and don't mind the action was for the end), but for some it probably did.
Ha! I think we're all confused. :) I can see Sam calling Death to help, but it was usually Dean dealing with Death, so Sam calling him would be different. The question is, would Death even answer? He warned them not to call him again -- but I think this constitutes an emergency.
you mean like how Dean spent a year faffing around with Lisa and Ben and not saving Sam from hell. In the end Death had to step in there so why not now?
Please tell me I missed it. But where was that line of Dean telling Sam "Don't get killed" like in the preview last week?? Please, please, please tell me I missed it and I can find that scene on youtube later!!!!!
I voted awful, and no, I don't vote that for shows very often. First of all, the Carry On montage was awful. That song used to be perfect for this show when it was about two brothers with good intentions who were in a very personal battle and kept making decisions that had grave consequences. It made no sense with images of Cas, Bobby, Dick, Meg, Crowley, and everyone else but Sam and Dean. They need to come up with a new song. I thought it fell flat last year when it was paired with images of Dean with RoboSam, but it was even worse this year when put with more side characters than Sam and Dean.
I found the first 40 minutes really dull for a finale. That wasn't a huge surprise because I've found the whole Leviathan story this year really dull. There were a couple of funny moments, but the first highlight was seeing the Impala again, and I'm not even a car person. That excitement faded when it proceeded to crash into a sign and it was revealed that Meg (one of their biggest enemies) was driving it. The Bobby scenes made me wonder what the point was in even bringing him back. Death's Door was touching, I may have even teared up a little, but his appearances since have just cheapened his death. His second (or is it his third) death left me flat and there wasn't proper time to do it right in the finale.
We finally had the big fight (nothing memorable here) and the big shocker - Dean and Cas end up in Purgatory. Sorry, but I don't want to see Dean in Purgatory until we see Sam in Hell first - and we still haven't. We still haven't even heard Sam's account of it. We never even got a Robo-Sam-centric episode in which we saw flashbacks of RoboSam's time before he met up with Dean.
If the Sam story isn't equally as gripping - and I want Sam's demon powers back and a full-on battle between the king of hell vs. the boy king of hell - as Dean's purgatory adventure, then I really think I'm done with this show.
Holy! Dean and Cas in Purgatory, Sam alone, say it ain't so!I'm so happy that Dick is dead, and the other Leviathans will be taken care of by the demons. But I'm worried what Crowley will do now that he has Kevin.Yes, Crowley must be the big bad next season! Onto a brighter note- I loved the Impala's return! Great music to accompany the return of the greatest car ever! I don't care either way what happens to Meg. I'm whatever. Whatever happens to her happens. She's done plenty of bad before she did any good so yeah, whatever. But poor Bobby. I can't believe he's gone, though I expected it after reading some recent spoilers not to mention the parts in the promos that I saw where he was choking Sam.I was glad to see Cas on the stairs. Team Free Will in the same room together one last time. I'm sure that didn't help with Cas's guilt though. It's tough but I believe he needed to be there. Of course Cas added humor to the episode. Twister...oh my...for a moment I was wondering after I saw Cas setting up twister if the next time we saw him he'd be playing it with Meg and she'd complain to Sam and Dean. I could just picture their limbs all over and Meg's exasperated face in my mind.I loved Cas's sudden interest in animal rights. I could kiss him for it. Knew I set my heart on the right angel, though he's like a schizophrenic now with how he starts on one subject and suddenly goes and talks about something else. Hopefully, eventually, he can be less mixed up. Though this Cas is funny, I miss a bit of his seriousness. And ummm did Dean say Cas showed up on a car naked covered with bees? WTH? That must have hurt Cas's body and Dean's eyes. lolBack to serious....
Dean and Cas in Purgatory! They need to be saved...like NOW!
Have to say now that the writers did it, I'm not surprised. Dean and Cas being sent to Purgatory will 1.) Give writers a chance to explore what Purgatory is and its appearance, like they have for Heaven and Hell. 2.) Gives an opportunity for Sam to save them both and possibly bring back guest stars. 3.) Could get Dean and Cas to get along again as they'll need to work together to stay alive.I really do not believe Cas abandoned Dean. After everything he's said about how guilty he feels, that's the last thing I see Cas doing. Plus, there's no way out for now, and there's safety in numbers/working together.
Not surprised my gut feeling Dean would be the brother in trouble. Glad the spoilers were misleading and Dean and Sam did not mean to go different ways.
Nice finale. Well paced and well suspenseful! :D Crowley is such a long term planner and visionary! Got to hand him some credit. :'DEver since they killed Bobby, but brought him back; It wasn't cool for me. Bobby's burning was long due. Yes, he would rather be alive for me, no "ghosty business". Hmph!
And people should accept heroic deaths and departures even though their favourite character is gone. After all, sometimes actors deserve rest!
Since the press release for S8 I had a feeling that the "brothers at odd" would be with being at different 'dimensions' rather than 'clash'.
But I must admit, I kind of expected them to land in 1st hell/purgatory because press release hints at something crawling up from the darkness.
And if Purgatory is anything like 'Dante's Inferno', it must lie between Hell and Heaven, parallel to mortal realm.
I foresee some troubles from the 'cage of Lucifer'. Death's involvement because the boys just can't help but to dis-balance the equation of order.
It might also be a good excuse to finally bring the 'God' after showing the 'God complex' in Castiel. On that note, it would be exciting to see the premiere next season.
This was a fabulous end for season 7. After its beginning I was worried. Bobby coming to his senses enough to let them take him out was sad and poignant. The looks on the boys' faces was touching. Crowley seems to have betrayed everyone in the long run. I actually worry for Meg. I do worry about Kevin. Dean's trick worked on killing Dick, but OH MY. Sam has no idea where he is and is on his own. Cas telling him where they are, that monsters will hunt them and kill them, tearing them to shreds, that Dick is down there, and then disappearing freaked me out. The look of utter disbelief on Dean's face was wow!. Then almost all season we wait for Dean's baby. The song was great, the action scene with the car was fabulous, and then it crashes. How many times will Dean have to rebuild that car?
Thank you!!! You wrote exactly what I'm feeling. We barely had the brothers this season.
I really hope that Sam's abilities come back next season especially since Dean is off in Purgatory with Castiel. I really hope they balance Sam and Dean's stories way better than they have in the past. I'm so sick of Sam being pushed into the background. I'm glad the show isn't returning until October and I am going to give the new showrunner about five to six episodes before I start worrying. But I am extremely nervous for Sam.
Well Sam has slipped down the pecking order and the quick fixing of Sam and his hell has been explained. And what a finale for Destiel fans nice on Sera and I wish you well in your nxt project .
I sure hope Crowley will be the big bad guy for next season, he'll be awesome :D :D
I just hope the boys won't get separate too long, if they do like last year, take care of the cliffhanger in 1 episode, and after get Dean out and go hunt for Crowley all season...I would LOVE that :D :D
O.M.G....O.M.G THIS CLIFFHANGER over the top of AWESOME this not a brother separation is a complete annihilation dean & sam are in different dimension the only possible connection are death or castiel unless another very powerful character shows up future options woooow only the new show runner knows and we will follow all new story lines because there will be very intriguing
Thanks. There used to be a running joke about how Sam was always trying to kill Crowley. There's a lot of potential there to build up a great rivalry there, but it they do nothing with this opportunity, if they have Dean come back and write it so that the main rivalry is between Crowley and Dean, then this show is dead to me.
I didn't expect it to be so easy to kill Dick, but I LOVE the cliffhanger ending. You have no idea. It's not as on the edge of my seat as Season 1 or 6, but I still can't wait for Season 8. I'm looking forward to finding out how Dean will survive Purgatory and how Sam will get him back.
And I'm really hoping Cas and Dean's bond gets fixed thank to all this (and no, I'm not a destiel shipper. I just like their friendship).
This was just crazy finale even that the episode was kinda slow at first (i need to re watch it ofcource in case i missed anything) still there were some great moments on it like Dick death,Bobby saing goodbye Cas beeing NOT normal at all, and last and not least the ending with Dean ending to Purgatory. This is actually remind me alot how Season 3 ended up... This is going to be a very VERY long Summer plus how come Cas was back to normal when he and Dean went to Purgatory? Maybe because Cas is one of those monsters?Maybe because he was the one who released the monsters FROM Purgatory? So many questions!
I Did not see that coming i know Crowley would end up being back to the big bad but did not see Dean and Cas in purgatory that was awesome. There now can be the risk of when they get back to earth they might bring back others with them if they are not careful i am guessing there will be some old Monster friend like Lenore or something. Man i can't wait till next season that was an awesome ending.
That was awesome. Great episode. I'm glad they were able to kill Dick (plz god no more dick jokes). The ending was amazing. How the hell are Cas and Dean going to get out of Purgatory? Are they dead? Oh man I felt so bad for Sam. As much as I agree with Jared that some really good storytelling comes out of Sam and Dean being separated for a short period of time, it's heartbreaking to think of Sam all alone. Also I'm 100% positive Cas didn't just abandon Dean. He probably just popped away for a sec to try and figure out a way to get them out. Or here's an idea. Cas said earlier in the episode that he believes he keeps being resurrected as a punishment and that he expected he'd be resurrected again if he died. What if he got resurrected again (obviously he has little choice in this matter) leaving Dean in purgatory alone? That's a frightening thought.
I think the feeling of the dullness is the fact it's all gimmicky and based vastly on humor. I mean, a creature that is drugging humans and mass producing them to be eaten. They did it in a very funny way and it gives that tacky aftertaste. It's very different than how the show used to be.
I agree. I wish they had used less filler episodes and wrote more episodes like how you listed. Give more time to the actual things that matter to the boys and their mission.
Well, Meg did foreshadow it in Reading is Fundamental. The second time the writers were really blunt with their foreshadowing (the first, for me, was before Bobby got shot and told Dean he couldn't die before he did).
We had "lots" of flashbacks? We had one-and-a-half episodes out of 22 told from Sam's perspective - "Unforgiven" and half of the finale (which was shared with Cas), and even those episodes cut off when Sam started remembering anything meaty. What we have is more questions than answers.
I think they cut it. Probably due to time. Cause like you said, they crammed waaaay too much in this episode. I totally agree with you there.
What makes it worse is that this season was 23 episodes. 23 freaking episodes and I think you can tell the whole story of this season in just 5 episodes, cut away all the rest and you'd still be able to follow the story. Which is just sad.
I really hope Cas wasn't resurrected since I'd like some Cas fighting off monsters and helping Dean. One person alone with all those monsters is a scary thought. Eeek.
xD I forgive you.....I want to slap myself cause I *dare* counted the days....can I erased that part of my memories and go in a coma for the next 4 1/2 months?
I know I should've counted the minutes either -_-;;;
Pretty underwhelming until after the last commercial break when Crowley showed up, bragged, and left Sam all alone. And I consider Season 3 cliffhanger to be one of the best/most haunting ever, and the cliffhanger for this (in my opinion) poor season was pretty damn creepy as well. Wonder where Cas flew off too. And I wonder how long it'll take until Dean gets back ... and please show us some more of Purgatory and don't skip ahead like you did in Season 4.
I remember hearing that the show would only go where the Impala could go and that's why no long periods in Heaven and Hell (i think they left Hell out of episodes to leave some of it to our imaginations). But I think they're breaking that rule with the next season. I don't know. Let's hope.
Dean tried to burst Sam out. We didn't see it, sadly, but it was talked about in the season premiere.
And if it wasn't for Dean making that deal, Death wouldn't just go to the cage to save Sam out of nowhere, so I count this as Dean saving Sammy's soul.
I'm still depressed because I lost the beginning of the episode... Dean and Cas lost in purgatory, hope Cas is still "off his rocker", I like him that way... I can assume Crowley will be back, YAY!!! And Meg, YAY!!! In denial about Bobby...
I would prefer that too, definitely, I was just throwing that out there as a theory for why he suddenly disappeared, because there's no way he "abandoned" Dean like some people are saying.
wow what a ending deans in purgatory well did not see that coming. and cas just left him there damn! I hope not and god sam all alone OMG! do not know whats going to happen there. the bobby part made me cry it was really sad. meg driving the baby OMG! that was great she is I think the 1st woman to drive it right? it was a WOW ending but not the best dick is dead thank god. So wait we will have to wait untell oct to see new eps WTF? no way.
This is was an AWESOME finale! I enjoyed all parts of it. Oh, I don't want to Crowley to be big bad of the next season, because all big bads usually die :(
a little bit more lowkey to what I was expecting at the end, but still a great ep. Loved the "exploding Dick" efx in the lab. Sad that this was the final run for Bobby and even though I would've liked to see him go out with a bang, I feel his original death was his swan song. (Personally, I don't see why they needed to kill him off - other than to have the boys truly on their own without a safety net) Poor Dean, he's now been to hell, heaven and now purgatory... Can't wait til next season
I fear I will get attacked for saying this, but I wasn't impressed. It was very anti-climactic. They dispatched Dick with relative ease. I mean, after all this time, all they needed was Meg driving the Impala around the parking lot as a diversion? Just too simple. And that ending. Talk about out of left field. It seemed like a desperation shot to pump some life into the show. It didn't feel like a natural progression of the storyline. Why would using the weapon kill both the attackers and the victim? Maybe if there had been some prior hints or warnings about this, it would have felt less forced. And I'm sorry, but they're beating Crowley and Meg into the ground. This show needs new blood, and hasn't been able to muster up a supporting character with real presence and menace since Lucifer in Season 5.
I apologize for the lengthy rant, but I'm really concerned that this show is becoming the next Smallville, outlasting its expiration date and recycling old storylines and characters. I hope this purgatory twists offers a fresh new direction, because this was a lackluster finale to a very poor season.
I know, but it's what Jared 'wish', he's not a writer or producer and they usually don't tell much to their cast and crew in advance....so anything can happen ^^;;
Plus, it would make no sense since just five minutes before Castiel actually stepped between Dick and Dean. And then he abandons him in Purgatory? That doesn't make sense. Castiel has proven multiple times that he'd die for Dean in a heartbeat. I'm betting he just popped away (maybe up) to get a better look around to see if there's a way he and Dean can get out.
Honestly? I think the writers just made him pop out so they could have this shot of Dean being all alone in Purgatory and Sam alone on Earth, and let it be all cliffhangery.
I doubt Castiel would leave unless there was a good reason or because the writers did it intentionally for the shot.
Yeah I agree. It definitely makes for a much more intense cliffhanger to make it seem like Dean is all alone, even if he really isn't. I'm just guessing at how they'll explain it when we return.
Maybe I didn't word that very well, but what I was thinking when I wrote that was that some of us were expecting at some point last season a flashback episode of when he first got out of hell, how he met up with Grampa Samuel, how and when he realized that he he was different, why he really changed his mind about contacting and hunting with Dean, did he ever try using his demon powers - an episode that would have given us a better understanding of his experience rather than only seeing him through Dean's eyes. I still don't feel like I understand who he was or even what he now thinks about that whole experience. Unforgiven was one of my favorite episodes from last season, but it still only focused on one case, and it was hinted that Sam did much worse things than use the sheriff as bait (Samuel said something along those lines to him once). We have no idea what those things are. And even that episode served mostly as a warning to Sam not to try to dig too deep into his memories - he was shut off by the Hell flashes as soon as he started exploring them.
In less they did die and dying made Cas less crazy. Don't see how the black stuff would have killed them though. I just saw it as transportation to Purgatory.
Yeah, it did remind me of Season 3. I was totally freaking out then too. They always let us see Sam come back whenever he dies before the finale ends, but when Dean dies or gets stuck in Purgatory they stretch it out over the summer. And the Sam fans think the writers give too much to Dean. Maybe so, but the Dean fans have to deal with long torturous summers. Help!
Yeah, plus they made Hell so crazy looking in Season 3 finale that the CGI costs made them hold back on the amount of hell time they showed.
I think they also wanted to leave it to our imaginations because people tend to think up worst things than they can show on television without making Supernatural the TV version of a R Rated movie. CW wouldn't allow anything too gruesome.
Maybe Dean and Cas just got transported to Purgatory since that got covered with the black stuff that was Dick, and dead monsters are supposed to end up in Purgatory? That's how I took it.
I rarely complain about TV shows, last show I went out of my way to criticise on the net was "The Cape". I am not going to sugar coat it this was a crap finale, even the cliffhanger was kind of.. meh. They could have literally had to fight there way to get Dick and have had the living shit beat out of them before they stabbed him. Hunting is too easy for them now there is no element of danger to it anymore the leviathans could have been so much more cooler if they were like the smart asses that they were just much more rabid than organised.
I agree. Just like the show had Sam use his abilities to save Dean from Hell - oh snap - EK decided to have the Angel Castiel rescue Dean from Hell instead. :(.
Dean in Purgatory is an interesting spin. He's been to Heaven and Hell, after all. Might as well hit up that old beast. But hopefully they can push a few episodes out with that scenario, rather than a quick fixer upper like his brief time in Hell (he's in, he's out - *poof*) or that half an episode in Heaven (God says back off, please remember - *poof*). C'mon, it'd be interesting to see more of the realms beyond the veil and how insane and chaotic everything is when all the ghosties and ghoulies are together in one dark room. Like the stuff of nightmares. Really BAD nightmares. And have Dean and Castiel struggle with it for a while. Like a huge war zone. And Dean and Castiel can be all Rambo-like..or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.. it would be like their own personal Vietnam. But with... monsters. And..strange creatures. And since I think every state in the US has been covered by now, and then some anyway, with the whole Jack Kerouac thing kinda having played itself out... MAYBE.. just MAYBE - have the WHOLE SEASON in Purgatory. AND Hell! Make the show scary again!! Go into the dark corners of the world like when it started..but make it heavier..much more intense. It has to go there. It's gotten too light and mediocre at best. And the whole Leviathan thing was honestly laughable. These guys gotta be placed in a situation within a place they don't understand. Alongside people they might or not might be able to trust. Now THERE'S a struggle! And good TV! Heck, bring Tessa back. And Lenore - granted she's not totally wiped off the face of things. Allies on the other side = awesomeness.. Think imploding universe that Earth is as of yet unaware. One huge amalgamated battleground styled on the scale of say, WW2 - but a Supernatural WW2. Lots of action. Like Vasquez in Aliens when she shoots up the alien hive - "Let's rock!!"
I am incredibly excited about how the episode ended. Looking forward to season 8 so much! I hope we get to see Cas and Dean working together and relying on each other in purgatory. And Sam and Jody working together.
I like your brain. I do think it'd definitely be interesting if they spent a few eps in Purgatory. Maybe not a whole season, because I don't want Sam and Dean to be apart that long, but a few episodes would be awesome. And I agree it's cool to finally get to see these big scary places that always get talked about on the show. Hell, Purgatory, etc. Before, they did the show rather than tell thing because I think Kripke said they just didn't have the budget to show Hell for example. Maybe now they do? So I do hope you're right and we really get to see and experience Purgatory and all it's nastiness.
The only qualm that I have about this episode is that it seems that SPN doesn't has a fight choreographer. Seriously lacking in punch kick action all around; even Meg's fight scene was really meh, just showing up the beheading.
And Dick, why was he so smiley? I would have preferred a "Big No", unless, his seeming confidence upon death meant something.
Does Sam still has to blow up the lab? I think he will. To bring Dean and Cas back, would he have to open a way to purgatory? I guess he could use Leviathan blood for the spell (I asume they count as native), so the tricky part would be an eclipse (I'm sure he could get a virgin to donate some blood)
Not a very exciting finale per se, but I like where it leads the story.
The montage was merely ok. It really needs to be about the brothers ONLY. No Bobby, Bring Castiel back and keep the boys apart for the 1st half of the season. I like the idea of Dean and Castiel in Purgatory.
The BEASTS will be pissed because not only did Castiel use thousands to millions of the power of souls while a god, he also killed many many monsters before that with Crowley. Next season has the potential to be interesting. As long as they don't go back to the angsty writing, and let the grown MEN, not boys any longer, handle the situation. They really need to bring John Winchester back next season AND have his soul trapped in Purgatory with them. IMHO.
The best part in my opinion is the fact Dean killed Dick. Just like in Death's Door when he said he wasn't just hunting Dick he was coming to actually kill him. I like how it ended that way.
I've been thinking about Cas abandoning Dean. I don't think there is any rule about angels not being able to enter or exit purgatory, is there? He may not be stuck or forced to stay. I know Cas opened purgatory through that spell, but that was to get the souls out, not for him to get in.
What if Cas can leave at will, and go from Dean to Sam and back, as a line of communication between them? I don't know how I would like that, but I don't think there are canon rules set up that are clear regarding angels being stuck in purgatory. It shouldn't be like the Cage in hell.
While I hate complaining about the show and really try and be positive about it I agree somewhat. In hindsight Sera Gamble kind of sucked the terror out of the show. When the Leviathans first appeared they were deadly.
Dean had his leg broken, they brought down Bobby FINALLY. ( The ol' man was a super cool Ninja at outlasting Archangels, Monsters, Demons. ) But they really dropped the ball on the fear factor and it became light hearted after Bobby died ( somewhat ). They did have fantastic episodes this season like Death's Door but then real clunkers like "It's Season 7 time for a Wedding!" It was shoehorned in there to advance the demon storyline.
Looking forward to next season. the Purgatory angle could be very interesting, as someone said, you get to see an extended time behind the veil. Gives them ideas for new monters not yet seen in the series timeline.
I'd give anything for John to be back. I can;t think of anything that would reinvigorate the show more than that.
I love that Dean is the one that killed Eve, their mother. So this should get very interesting. I hope we meet old monsters and allies. It could be a real Dantesque journey, with awesome writing. (As long as Sam gets the rescue this time, and not Cas. Or Dean figures it out on his own. I want the boys smart again, and proactive.)
Hmm not sure I like that rule, but then again I don't view the Impala as some fans do. Honestly, if I didn't see people complaining they hadn't seen the car in awhile I never would've noticed it was missing. As much as I like leaving things to the imagination, I'd still like some stuff to have a visual of from the show.
They left Dean in Purgatory!!! And left Sam all alone!!! :-( Aside from that I really liked the episode. They finally got Dick, and the Impala came back! Crowley double crossing both Dick, and Sam and Dean doesnt surprise me, but the question I have is what does he want with Kevin? As sad as it makes me I dont think they'll bring Bobby back, unless its something like they see him in Heaven or something, because this felt like a real goodbye and ending to him, something I didnt really feel at the end of "Death's Door". I'm hoping he got to go to the Roadhouse or got to go be with Karen in Heaven and isnt in Purgatory, although I have thought about that, if a soul doesnt go with its reaper does it get to go to Heaven or Hell? or does it end up in Purgatory... Cause if thats the case then it's possible for Mary, John, Bobby, Annie from "Of Grave Importance", and possibly some more. Anyway... It looks like Cas will be back next year :-). And Crowley seems to maybe be the big bad... Although I thought that with Season 6 for a bit too so who knows.
Wow... I've been rambling but my main questions that came up when the episode first finished was How is Dean gonna get out of Purgatory? and How is Sam gonna fix the Impala after running into that sign? Because you know Dean will want it when he gets back... Well now Im done... I think... Cant wait for next season!! :-)
Well, then he is going to need more blood from the Alpha and i don't think he will be so helpful this time.
I don't know about Death, he was pretty pissed off in the season seven premiere. But maybe he will help them because they need to stop Crowley from whatever he is going to do.
But if they do another portal probably more monster will escape.
It was absolutely AMAZING! So many things have happened, so many scene I loved, but right now all that I can think about is: Poor Dean! He's trapped in PURGATORY surrounded by the MONSTERS (possibly many of those he actually killed!) and his only help/hope is an angel who's basically losing his mind! POOR DEAN! And also POOR, poor Sammy! He has NO idea what happened and is completely and truly ALONE! For that lie, hate you Crowley!
Well the ending was really good, i give the finale this. If that's a rewrite from Jeremy Carver then it's really indicative that S8 has amazing potential to become the fresh, scary and totally unpredictable SPN that i love. I just hope we're done with the deaths ok? let Meg and Cas be OK *.* and if we could have Bobby in purgatory to, at least, get a more emotional last scene... i rewatched his last scene again and i still don't like it, i wanted something more epic IDK. Plus, i need to know this lovely man is in Heaven with his wife and at peace, not that he just ceased to exist or something T__T
I really liked it. I still think this season overall lacked the urgency of previous seasons, and there's so much rehashing of story here and there, but there were things that happened that I needed to happen:
1) Sam telling Dean to shut up. (I mean for a moose, he's been takin' a lot of flak lying down this season) 2) The lack of angst. I felt like the good thing about the finale was the tone of the story was more sort've light, sarcastic (dealing with leviathans and their skinny people killing cream), etc. Of course this also translates to that issue of a "lack of urgency" that I felt throughout the season. 3) It moved the pieces around on the board. I am not a huge fan of them taking Dean out to Purgatory with flaky Cas, and having Sam & Dean separated AGAIN, but at least this time it looks like we're going to see what Dean goes through? 4) Anyone else see a chance for Dean to just do his job a little more often than usual? He looked awful scared when Cas left and the monsters were moving in, but let's be honest... he'll be fine. (I have a terrible feeling this will last until the mid-season of season 8...they might milk the purgatory for all its worth and then some...) 5) I wonder how Sam is going to handle the dismantling of the Sucrocorp...slaughterhouses? 6) Have we truly seen the last of Bobby? I personally feel like they sort've just killed him halfway through the season in the season with the most laid back, pushover enemies in the show just to drag him along for the ride until they finally were like "OK Bobby has to die"...While I prefer they put him to rest after all that he went through in the second half of the season, it just reminded me of how stupid killing him off was... HOWEVER, this leads to #7: 7) will we finally have room for new (decent, not mockup, Bobby-clone-like) characters? will they successfully change the dynamic of the show without introducing a slew of characters just to kill them off by episode 16? I would kinda like that, especially if they are going into season 8 with the thought that it is NOT the end.
Gosh, that ending opened so many possibilities for season 8: Evil Dean, Demonic Sam, John Winchester resurrection....the possibilities are endless.
After reading about how dissapointed other people were about the finales of their favorite shows, I have to admit, I was more than a little worried. But now, all I can say is BRAVO to the entire cast and crew on a fantastic finale! Sorry I ever doubted you :)
To be honest, season 6 was better than this season and most of us thought season 6 was pretty bad. The show is supposed to be about the brothers and it has really been lacking that. That's why I take my anger out on Castiel because people are more worried about him returning than the core of the show being fixed.
I was overall happy with it. Could it have been better? Perhaps. Not sure what to do though to make it better.
- They tied up Leviathan storyline. - They brought back the Impala - They dealt with Ghost Bobby - They gave Cas & Crowley some great scenes - They set up S8 with 2 stories to work on. - Hell they even added some gratuitus eye candy to try & draw in some new male fans for once.
Not much they didnt deliver. If the show had ended after Dick was killed, and all was well except for Crowley lurking around, there wouldnt be any dilemma or suspense for the S8 premiere, and thus, no reason for you to come back...now there is, does Dean get out of purgatory? What does Crowley want with Kevin? Do the boys have a good insurance provider for the impala?
Could it have been better? Possibly. But, it delivered on all accounts that it needed to, and some it wasnt asked to. Like Chuck once told us, endings are impossible.
I loved season six from the first moment I saw it, and though it did have some flaws, it was full of mystery, action and had lots of terrific episodes.
I know I keep repeating myself on this but for me the Castiel persona is holding this show back. It has no direction with him in it. Even when he's not present in an episode, he keeps being referred back to, as with the trenchcoat thing.
I think Carver will have to decide. Either he finds a credible fixed role for Castiel or he gets rid of him definitely, because keeping him floating in the background is counter-productive.
I started watching because of the wonderful relationship between the brothers and the drama of the episodes and that's what I still watch for.
I must say that I'm not too fussy on all the stupids jokes and one liners that get thrown in. It's okay when you get a funny line now and then to lighten the drama, but when you get the whole episode full of them, it just gets boring. I like the Winchesters intelligent and capable, not stupid.
A lot of Supernatural fans around the world have English as a second language and if sometimes these one liners are difficult for me to get the gist of, it must be even more difficult for them.
this episode remind me of a poster that dean is in earth/heaven and sam is in real hell right now dean are pulgatory/hell and sam but the difference is he is in tree hell, earth and heaven
I liked that the Bobby story ended the way it did. I'd hated if they'd let him become a vengeful ghost. He got a proper emotional send off at least. BUT I hate to see Bobby go at all. I hope they bring him back, because I don't think he deserved to be written out like that.
I liked that Dean and Cas got over their conflict and I absolutely do not believe that Cas left Dean to die there. He's most likely searching for a way out and comes back to save Dean.
And goddamnit, I finally wanna know what Crowley is! He's clearly not a demon and they've hinted so much already that I have no trouble believing that he's a fallen angel or something.
I am looking forward to s8 now, which I didn't before. Sera is gone, let's start fresh and make that show as good as it once was!
I remember it as if it were only yesterday when I was eagerly awaiting for the season premiere, Meet The New Boss. And now the season is over. No more Supernatural for 4 months... :( The episode wasn't so action-packed as it was hyped up to be but it was a great episode nonetheless. I should have seen the ending coming, what with the preview by Jensen & Jared mentioning that the brothers would be separated and that one of them would be in a sticky situation. It's Season 3 all over again. When the Impala hit the road, I half-expected 'Back In Black' to start playing (I was already humming the tune!) but 'Born To Be Wild' was cool as well. I knew that it couldn't be Dean in the car: he would never intentionally crash his Baby. Meg was badass in that scene. I hope she doesn't die just yet at the hands of Crowley or his henchmen. If anyone should kill Meg, it has to be the Winchesters: she has, over the course of seven seasons, been quite a pain in their ass at times.
As for Castiel, I was expecting him to turn out to be a pawn in the Leviathans' master plan: like he was brainwashed or something by them and observing the Winchesters. Bobby's farewell was a nice scene. When you gotta go, you gotta go. RIP Bobby. Hope to see you only in flashbacks now!
When we flashed to Dean in Purgatory, it looked creepy: the tall trees and the coiling branches and everything reminded me of the place in the dream they entered in Dream A Little Dream of Me. But then when I saw the souls of monsters coming, I felt like laughing. They looked like those awful robots with flashing red eyes seen in low budget horror flicks.
Now with Castiel making a disappearing act, Dean is left to fend off for himself in Purgatory, the hunter now becoming the hunted on the monsters' turf. I wonder if he will run into some of the many monsters they offed. Run, Dean, run!
Poor Sam! Left alone again on earth. Just don't fall into any demon's (or any monster's) trap again in trying to bring back Dean or take revenge from Crowley. We really don't want another Season 4, as good as it was. I just hope that when they get back together, they stick together as one. No more splitting up or falling out just for the sake of drama and a truckload of angst.
Carry On My Wayward Son~ It was tissue time....that song is the theme song for SPN in my heart so I loved hearing it....... Bobby realizing he had to leave...............especially after trying to kill one of his boys!! SAD to see him go but it had to be done. The boys watched him go into the light.....which was beautiful for them.... Dean forgave Castiel......which was the trigger for Castiel to help with Leviathan. Impala! Baby was back..................and rode in with style....it must have killed Dean to let Meg to drive his black beauty! Dick Roman and his minions......very glad to see them go. Sam alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dean in Purgatory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO and NO.................It would have been better if both boys were in Purgatory together! WHY OH WHY must we take 2 steps forward ...............and 100 back! The writers better straighten this predicament toot freaking sweet. Come next fall on Wednesday night I will be expecting my boys together!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great Summer all................hey Jared enjoy playing with Tommy!!!
I finished the episode an hour ago and I am still flipping out! OMG! I totally started sobbing when they melted the flask and THAT ENDING IS GONNA KILL ME ALL SUMMER! Its seriously like when Dean went to hell at the end of season 3 and no one knew how he was gonna get out. Why do I feel like when they do save him, tons of other creatures are gonna come out of purgatory with him. CAN IT BE SEPTEMBER ALREADY??????????????????????????
Seriously, all those votes for 'Awful'?! Never in my life have I seen such a picky/nit-picky bunch of fans!
Anyway, I thought the finale was AWESOME! Loved the re-introduction of the Impala and the music to follow it! ''Wayward Sons'' is back!!!! I believe it wasn't in the ''Road So Far' recap for Season 6. VERY interesting cliffy at the end too, is it true what people are saying that the new showrunner asked Sera to re-write the ending? Wonder what the original ending was if that is the case. Nice set-up for at LEAST the first few episodes of Season 8.
A fitting final episode for Sera Gamble both as a showrunner and a writer no matter what the 'anti' Sera crowd says!
All I can say is awesome and wow! It was a heartbreaker and a cliffhanger, that is definitely true. But, I was thinking last night when it was all over that both boys had their time in Hell-Sam much longer than Dean, of course-and they each got to see what Heaven was like. So, now Dean gets to see what Purgatory is about and what lingers there. I felt so sorry for Sam because his brother is "gone" and he has no idea where he went. Crowley, being the demon that he is, is no help at all to Sam and does not like him anyway. What kind of reunion should we be looking forward to when all is said and done and Dean is earth side once again? It was sad saying goodbye to Bobby, but I do not think that this is the real thing for the boys or for him. I hope Cas can help Dean in Purgatory and I hope he can escape the real monsters there, too. We have heard so much about Purgatory and now we get to see it! Definitely looking forward to season 8, regardless of when or what night it premieres when the fall comes around. I think season 7 was just awesome and season 8 will be just as good!
"but at least this time it looks like we're going to see what Dean goes through?"
They've always dealt with their special effects issues by making the monsters shadows/ hints of something mysterious, or by putting them in human form. Unless they suddenly have a much larger budget, I don't think there's much of Purgatory they can show us before the special effects get really sad. Maybe Cas did get resurrected again, as someone else suggested, and this story will be told from Sam's point of view for a change - as he and Cas work to rescue Dean.
I am not sure some "fan" don't just enjoy going on boards and bad mouthing the shows to see what kind of rise they get. Then others give great comments and we have fun discussions. I was very happy with the ep and love the ending.
I find it sad that they took this aproach because they had so much potential in the first 2 episodes of the season as these kind of chaotic creatures which could have a wayyy more interesting mytologhy that expanded what we knew about the SPN from the past seasons. So disapointed with S7 really :/
I don't think we have to worry about Dean surviving purgatory (other than there wouldn't be a show without both Winchesters), if one of the creatures kill him I'm pretty sure he would just come back to life. When your in there your in there indefinetly or until someone opens a doorway or something to somewhere else. The rules could be different since he didn't really die to get there but rather was transported there.
But I love the idea of it being Dean alone in Purgatory and Sam trying to free him, with Cas's help. Throw in Crowley and Meg and that would be awesome. I do however hope that the separation isnt on screen for too long, I can see a time jump of a few months but would prefer that they get Dean out within the first couple of episodes. Then have Crowley to deal with together.
What I dont want is a long arc of Dean and Cas's excellent adventures (JC is a Cas and Dean fanboy so it is highly possible)and Sam alone and with hardly anything to do and no POV just to give Jared time off.
They should have Sam be the one to free Dean, show what he's going through, show us what he's doing while showing us what Dean is doing in Purgatory. It would be interesting to have them jump between the both brothers during episodes so we get equal perspective and POV.
I'm backing Sam for the win this time. It would also be an interesting time to have Sam struggle with his residual hell issues, just to amp up the desperation and the drama. I imagine Sam might be feeling like he's back in hell now that he doesn't have his big brother with him. And poor Dean will be trying to get out, fighting of monsters and worrying about Sammy.
Bring on Sam and Cas partnership though that might be interesting.
not a Sam fan then? A whole season of Dean and Cas's purgatory adventures? Why would they do that? Why wouldn't they just write Sam out completely so Jared can move onto something new?
For showing Dean's fights with monsters, what are they going to do? Put all of the monsters in human form? Or just show Dean's half of a battle with a dragon? And what happens if a monster kills you when you're already in Purgatory? I think Dean's POV is going to be mostly ducking and hiding and looking for other friendlies.
If ghosts do go to Purgatory, then along with Bobby, Dean might also run into his mom, and possibly his dad (who seemed to be in spirit form last we saw him) there. Do killed angels go there as well? We could run into some of those too, and it would be a way for Cas to travel back and forth if he is being resurrected. Sam could have him get a message to Dean by killing him and sending him back to Purgatory.
I'd much rather see Sam battle against Crowley (maybe team up with Meg to do it) rather than partner up with him again or wait for Dean to get back before going after Crowley. I'm really sick of Sam being wallpaper.
It makes more sense if Cas was resurrected again and has to help Sam get Dean out than for Cas to be in purgatory with Dean because it would be less of an actual threat to Dean. I dont think they would have writen in him mentioning it if they didn't have a reason/a plan to use it.Maybe it was foreshadowing?
Before every season I get my hopes up that, finally, we may get Sam's POV, and every season I am disappointed. I hoped that the rumors of Sera being a Sam fan would mean more Sam POV, but that didn't happen. I began to hope again with new show-runners coming in, but your comment that Carver is a Dean / Cas fan has me worried.
I wish they'd stop writing Dean's character with the same inconsistency that they write Cas' character. So, Dean has begun to forgive Cas despite the thousands (tens-of-thousands, millions) who have already died and those who are going to die because of Cas's selfish power grab, but he does not forgive Amy for killing four people to save the life of her son. Instead, he kills her. Fair is fair… Dean needs to kill Cas.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Anything with Vincent by Don McLean is a winner in my book.
ReplyDeletei thought it was a little lackluster. so bobby's gone from the world, but i think he'll meet dean in purgatory. sam is all alone. this finale just didn't feel all that. i think it was hyped up to much. there wasn't anything that drew me in until the last 10 minutes
ReplyDeleteUFHVNAURSDVHAURUHRUHERUHRUHFUSFHNVFVUHAUHRFRUFIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDICK'S DEATH WAS SO FUCKING COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IS IT SEPTEMBER 19TH YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved it, tbh. And I can't wait to see how Dean and Cas get out of Purgatory next season! I can't believe Cas abandoned Dean like that.
ReplyDeleteAnd all I had was Cas/Meg feels and not Dean/Cas feels when she told Dean that Cas was his boyfriend first.
Also, Bobby scared the fuck out of me. I'm glad they burned the flask, honestly. But poor Sam looked like he was about to go off the deep end again.
So excited for season eight, especially the new timeslot!
Usually I watch Fringe Live, when supernatural is ON, but My Goodness, did anyone else thought the commercial were really annoying as hell or purgatory in this case, lol.
ReplyDeletePurgatory looks an awful lot like my back yard. Good send-off for Bobby. Crowley slithers his way to the top of the DICK list.
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP DEAN AND CASTIEL ARE IN PURGATORY!!!!!!THE IMPALA!!!
ReplyDeleteUnimpressive for a finale to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI foresee an epic Season 8! Cas and Dean in Purgatory! Sam trying to find them! Great excuse to bring back fan favorites! And NO I don't think Cas abandoned Dean.
ReplyDelete!@#$%^& You mean October!!!This year all CW shows come back in October !@#$%^&
ReplyDeleteThis was a great finale, I don't understand how anyone can say this finale was awful?
ReplyDeleteCalling it. Death rescues Dean and Castiel.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least the Nikita finale was good ...
ReplyDeletePremiers are Oct 1-10.
ReplyDeleteKnowing the Mark Pedowitz loves Supernatural it will be back Oct 3rd
Good episode, sucky enidng Castiel should have ended up in Purgatory alone and not Dean that would have been a fitting ending.. Now I guess Sam has to find where dean is and get him out
ReplyDeleteDAMN!!!!Holy moly that was good. I'm not sure where to even begin...First off I loved the fact that Sam and Dean were back and were brothers again, like old times. But back to them later...
ReplyDeleteI'm starting with Meg.
ReplyDeleteWhat an epic season finale!!! Oh my God!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd another season comes to a close...with another WOW!
ReplyDeleteThis one picked up right where last week left off and kept the classic SPN feel going.
Some fans just love to complain. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteBobby was not a creature...no reason for him to have gone to Purgatory. I thought it was a fitting end to the season, though I do agree on the sort of anti-climactic feel to an extent.
ReplyDeleteI just hope Baby is not gone for good and like that Dean is stuck in purgatory, this should prove very interesting in a little over 4 months. Ugh, I hate to even think about having to wait that long.
ReplyDeleteI think I cried more with Bobby leaving this time, was very sad. Glad that Cas is getting his act together and that Dean had a little forgiveness toward him.
She's fine. Hell, with what she's been through in other season's, that was practically the car equivalent of a stubbed toe.
ReplyDeleteThe entire finale wasn't Sera's best effort, but the last minute was worth it. Lucky him.
ReplyDeleteWith no one to rely on, he's going to have to figure out where Dean ended up (which shouldn't be too hard since they should have figured Dick would go back to Purgatory since that's where monsters go), but figuring out how to break into Purgatory and get his brother out is something that's going to be tough.
I enjoyed it. Because it setup finally getting to see Purgatory. I really was interested last year on what is was like.
ReplyDeleteIt wrapped up the Leviathan storyline.
Remember this will be Jeremy Carver's Purgatory.
it's not a complaint for stating your opinions. you can be a fan of the show and not love everything that happens with the show.
ReplyDeleteOk...I think they didn't show Bobby burning because he was Bobby...no need to make such a beloved character's death that blatant. We saw enough to get the point. I wouldn't read too much into that.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say Sam didn't suffer or just had a quick fix. He was in Hell...body and soul...with Lucifer inside him and locked in the cage with Luci and Michael. That's hardly nothing.
I really doubt this sojourn in Purgatory, however long it ends up being, will change Dean that much. He was already changed by going to Hell. If anything this is liable to either change his perspective on the things they hunt or at long last remind him why they do it...the motivation he needed all season.
my bad, i didn't really pay attention to what went into purgatory.
ReplyDeleteDid I say you weren't a fan? I said some just love to complain, or better stated, are never happy.
ReplyDeleteI say the same thing, but then I get told I'm wrong.
ReplyDeleteYep, there will always be some who aren't satisfied. I've had my episodes I didn't like as much as others, but I sure can't complain about these last two. Definitely awesome!
ReplyDeleteLOL, true.
ReplyDeleteDon't apologize. Bobby started as a human but became a vengeful ghost. We don't know if the qualifies as creature or not.
ReplyDeleteTime to call Death to get back into Purgatory. Unless there is a way other than the eclipse and blood from a native of Purgatory. But they still needed the blood even with Death.
ReplyDeleteI'm confusing myself.
Btw I am pretty confident that Sam will save the Impala!!!He always does even when his bro is not around :)
ReplyDeleteNot gonna vote until i rewatch the episode, but on first impression that was a pretty lame finale. Amd as I feared i got the same feeling than on 7x17, too many things going on in the episode to actually get into any of it. Sera, sorry but you've got too greedy with all the storyline you leave for your episodes :/
ReplyDeleteI was left cold with Bobby's storyline and that's seriously not cool, though i guess i'm ok if he can rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that it was a rewrite for Jeremy Carver.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea but what possible motivation would he have to help out again unless Sam summons him. But he'd have to go back and steal the meteorite or moon rock or whatever. And he still wouldn't have the blood of a native of Purgatory.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be fun working this through my head instead of sleeping tonight.
I don't think it does. And he stopped before he went completely vengeful. I still doubt he'd be there. They can't bring him back AGAIN...that really would be doing a discredit to the character.
ReplyDeleteI just hope that Sam is actually the one responsible for freeing Dean. As much as I like Death, I'd rather it be Sam who manages it. The guy already caught enough crap for trying to find a way to get Dean out of hell between seasons three and four, then giving up after only a month. In favor of faffing about with Cortese!Ruby instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat's to save? I don't get why everyone thought something happened to her. Did I miss something? So she got driven through the Sucrocorp sign, big deal...she's had much worse happen to her in other seasons. She's fine and Sam will take care of her till Dean comes back. If there's one thing we've learned over 7 seasons it's that Baby is the one character on this show you absolutely CAN'T keep down for long! :D
ReplyDeleteDoes it look like Crowley is our next villain of the season?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it and loved Dean the badass hunter and killer of Eve, in purgatory... What a great set up for next year! I will miss Sera as a writer a lot.
ReplyDeleteBut I also felt a bit let down, because there were 3 stories to be told, that should have each gotten their own episodes, and having it all in one left me restless.
Still too far away! *thud*
ReplyDeleteDidn't I read that a couple of favorite characters were going to leave, Bobby was one, and if not Baby, who is the other. Maybe I read that wrong in the first place..I just want rock music and Baby BACK. lol
ReplyDeleteI could sure get on board with Papa John showing up, love that man. Sigh
ReplyDeleteProbably anyone who found it didn't have enough action and too much Cas and Bobby stuff. None of the three bothered me (I love Bobby and Cas, and don't mind the action was for the end), but for some it probably did.
ReplyDeleteYeah, no big cliffy. :D
ReplyDeleteHa! I think we're all confused. :) I can see Sam calling Death to help, but it was usually Dean dealing with Death, so Sam calling him would be different. The question is, would Death even answer? He warned them not to call him again -- but I think this constitutes an emergency.
ReplyDeleteSure does.
ReplyDeleteyou mean like how Dean spent a year faffing around with Lisa and Ben and not saving Sam from hell. In the end Death had to step in there so why not now?
ReplyDeletePlease tell me I missed it. But where was that line of Dean telling Sam "Don't get killed" like in the preview last week?? Please, please, please tell me I missed it and I can find that scene on youtube later!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI voted awful, and no, I don't vote that for shows very often.
ReplyDeleteI found the first 40 minutes really dull for a finale.
Holy!
ReplyDeleteDean and Cas in Purgatory, Sam alone, say it ain't so!I'm so happy that Dick is dead, and the other Leviathans will be taken care of by the demons.
Purgatory is for monsters. Bobby won't be there. The was better then I had hoped for under Sera Gamble
ReplyDeleteI loved how Dean tricked Dick.
ReplyDeleteNice finale. Well paced and well suspenseful! :D
ReplyDeleteCrowley is such a long term planner and visionary!
ReplyDeleteI love this Supernatural Finale, so many incredible possibilities, I sooo can't wait for next season!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! You wrote exactly what I'm feeling. We barely had the brothers this season.
ReplyDeleteI really hope that Sam's abilities come back next season especially since Dean is off in Purgatory with Castiel.
ReplyDeleteI. CANT. WAIT. for next season *__*
ReplyDeleteI sure hope Crowley will be the big bad guy for next season, he'll be awesome :D :D
ReplyDeleteThanks. There used to be a running joke about how Sam was always trying to kill Crowley. There's a lot of potential there to build up a great rivalry there, but it they do nothing with this opportunity, if they have Dean come back and write it so that the main rivalry is between Crowley and Dean, then this show is dead to me.
ReplyDeleteDeath did not get Sam out of Lucifer's cage, he only put the wall up.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect it to be so easy to kill Dick, but I LOVE the cliffhanger ending. You have no idea. It's not as on the edge of my seat as Season 1 or 6, but I still can't wait for Season 8. I'm looking forward to finding out how Dean will survive Purgatory and how Sam will get him back.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm really hoping Cas and Dean's bond gets fixed thank to all this (and no, I'm not a destiel shipper.
ReplyDeleteDeath got Sam's soul out of the cage. Cas got his body out.
ReplyDeleteWhat show were you watching, we had LOTS of flashbacks of Soulless Sam working with grandpa, the spider ep was mostly about that.
ReplyDeleteI Did not see that coming i know Crowley would end up being back to the big bad but did not see Dean and Cas in purgatory that was awesome. There now can be the risk of when they get back to earth they might bring back others with them if they are not careful i am guessing there will be some old Monster friend like Lenore or something. Man i can't wait till next season that was an awesome ending.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh man it's going to be a loooong hiatus.
It's almost like tradition now. Every season must end with the Impala crashing!
ReplyDeletei am agree with you i think chris had some alsheimer problems

ReplyDelete:'''''(
I think the feeling of the dullness is the fact it's all gimmicky and based vastly on humor. I mean, a creature that is drugging humans and mass producing them to be eaten. They did it in a very funny way and it gives that tacky aftertaste. It's very different than how the show used to be.
ReplyDeleteI think they cut it from the episode.
ReplyDeleteSorry but I have to say it D***!
ReplyDeleteI agree. I wish they had used less filler episodes and wrote more episodes like how you listed. Give more time to the actual things that matter to the boys and their mission.
ReplyDeleteWell, Meg did foreshadow it in Reading is Fundamental. The second time the writers were really blunt with their foreshadowing (the first, for me, was before Bobby got shot and told Dean he couldn't die before he did).
ReplyDeleteWe had "lots" of flashbacks? We had one-and-a-half episodes out of 22 told from Sam's perspective - "Unforgiven" and half of the finale (which was shared with Cas), and even those episodes cut off when Sam started remembering anything meaty. What we have is more questions than answers.
ReplyDeleteWell, in Dean's defense, he did promise not to.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Felt rushed. 2 hour finale was needed.
ReplyDeleteSee it that way if you see it that way, but I think this could be a great way for Sam to be the one doing the saving.
ReplyDeleteI think they cut it. Probably due to time. Cause like you said, they crammed waaaay too much in this episode. I totally agree with you there.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes it worse is that this season was 23 episodes.
Eeek.
ReplyDeleteJared said he hoped they would be apart for awhile, since he feels it gives us a chance to see them live on their own and how they manage it.
ReplyDeletexD I forgive you.....I want to slap myself cause I *dare* counted the days....can I erased that part of my memories and go in a coma for the next 4 1/2 months?
ReplyDeleteI know I should've counted the minutes either -_-;;;
I was wondering that too. But I don't think Cas is dead. Cause if he was, that would mean Dean is dead. And if Dean is dead....
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Are we in a Hellatus or a Purgatus now? 0_o
ReplyDeletePretty underwhelming until after the last commercial break when Crowley showed up, bragged, and left Sam all alone.
ReplyDeleteSo I vote Good only because of the ending.
I remember hearing that the show would only go where the Impala could go and that's why no long periods in Heaven and Hell (i think they left Hell out of episodes to leave some of it to our imaginations). But I think they're breaking that rule with the next season. I don't know. Let's hope.
ReplyDeleteDean tried to burst Sam out. We didn't see it, sadly, but it was talked about in the season premiere.
ReplyDeleteAnd if it wasn't for Dean making that deal, Death wouldn't just go to the cage to save Sam out of nowhere, so I count this as Dean saving Sammy's soul.
I wish it'll be Sammy to rescue Dean this time.
I'm still depressed because I lost the beginning of the episode...
ReplyDeleteDean and Cas lost in purgatory, hope Cas is still "off his rocker", I like him that way...
I can assume Crowley will be back, YAY!!! And Meg, YAY!!! In denial about Bobby...
I would prefer that too, definitely, I was just throwing that out there as a theory for why he suddenly disappeared, because there's no way he "abandoned" Dean like some people are saying.
ReplyDeleteI felt like they were transported to Purgatory by the black stuff that made up Dick, I don't believe they died either. Guess we'll find out.
ReplyDeleteI hope that's how it plays out. I want Sam to be the hero that saves Dean and Cas from purgatory. That'd be awesome.
ReplyDeletewow what a ending deans in purgatory well did not see that coming. and cas just left him there damn! I hope not and god sam all alone OMG! do not know whats going to happen there. the bobby part made me cry it was really sad. meg driving the baby OMG! that was great she is I think the 1st woman to drive it right? it was a WOW ending but not the best dick is dead thank god. So wait we will have to wait untell oct to see new eps WTF? no way.
ReplyDeleteThis is was an AWESOME finale! I enjoyed all parts of it. Oh, I don't want to Crowley to be big bad of the next season, because all big bads usually die :(
ReplyDeletea little bit more lowkey to what I was expecting at the end, but still a great ep.
ReplyDeleteI fear I will get attacked for saying this, but I wasn't impressed.
ReplyDeleteI apologize for the lengthy rant, but I'm really concerned that this show is becoming the next Smallville, outlasting its expiration date and recycling old storylines and characters. I hope this purgatory twists offers a fresh new direction, because this was a lackluster finale to a very poor season.
I agree. After everything Cas told Dean I can't see him ever doing that. He's got too much guilt to just turn his back on Dean.
ReplyDeleteI know, but it's what Jared 'wish', he's not a writer or producer and they usually don't tell much to their cast and crew in advance....so anything can happen ^^;;
ReplyDeletePlus, it would make no sense since just five minutes before Castiel actually stepped between Dick and Dean. And then he abandons him in Purgatory? That doesn't make sense. Castiel has proven multiple times that he'd die for Dean in a heartbeat. I'm betting he just popped away (maybe up) to get a better look around to see if there's a way he and Dean can get out.
ReplyDeletelol I want to sleep the months away too.
ReplyDeleteThey could have spread it out but chose not too. I'm hoping Carver will do much better at pacing.
ReplyDeleteHonestly? I think the writers just made him pop out so they could have this shot of Dean being all alone in Purgatory and Sam alone on Earth, and let it be all cliffhangery.
ReplyDeleteI doubt Castiel would leave unless there was a good reason or because the writers did it intentionally for the shot.
I hope Sam is the one who saves Dean (and Cas) too.
ReplyDeleteI will maintain that Cas just flew off to find a way out, until proven otherwise.
ReplyDeleteWe saw Robo Sam flashback in the 11th? 12th? Episode last season. He was with their grandfather, it was the spider monster episode.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I miss when it was more serious and not a joke after another joke.
ReplyDeleteYeah in this case I hope Jared doesn't get his wish, least not for long. More than one episode apart and it'll just seem so wrong.
ReplyDeleteWow. The ending. Is just wow,
ReplyDeleteYeah, I so want Dean and Cas fighting off the monsters while Sam tries to find a way to get them out of there- once he knows where exactly they are.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree. It definitely makes for a much more intense cliffhanger to make it seem like Dean is all alone, even if he really isn't. I'm just guessing at how they'll explain it when we return.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I didn't word that very well, but what I was thinking when I wrote that was that some of us were expecting at some point last season a flashback episode of when he first got out of hell, how he met up with Grampa Samuel, how and when he realized that he he was different, why he really changed his mind about contacting and hunting with Dean, did he ever try using his demon powers - an episode that would have given us a better understanding of his experience rather than only seeing him through Dean's eyes.
ReplyDeleteIn less they did die and dying made Cas less crazy. Don't see how the black stuff would have killed them though. I just saw it as transportation to Purgatory.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it did remind me of Season 3. Help!
lol Purgatus. XD
ReplyDeleteYeah, plus they made Hell so crazy looking in Season 3 finale that the CGI costs made them hold back on the amount of hell time they showed.
ReplyDeleteI think they also wanted to leave it to our imaginations because people tend to think up worst things than they can show on television without making Supernatural the TV version of a R Rated movie. CW wouldn't allow anything too gruesome.
They can explain it by Cas popping up back right next to Dean, that's how.
ReplyDeleteI loved it when Cas took that step forward to protect Dean. :D
ReplyDeletexD Why not?
ReplyDeleteWhen I invented that term after the episode my friends looked at me weird xD
Maybe Dean and Cas just got transported to Purgatory since that got covered with the black stuff that was Dick, and dead monsters are supposed to end up in Purgatory? That's how I took it.
ReplyDeleteI rarely complain about TV shows, last show I went out of my way to criticise on the net was "The Cape".
ReplyDeleteHeroes hoping Season 8 is better.
Its the living tissue over the terminators-rule
ReplyDeleteI agree. Just like the show had Sam use his abilities to save Dean from Hell - oh snap - EK decided to have the Angel Castiel rescue Dean from Hell instead. :(.
ReplyDeleteDean in Purgatory is an interesting spin.
ReplyDeleteI should probably go to bed. TOodles.
Yes it was very good and reminded me of the SPN S2 finale with major loose ends tied up but meat for next season.
ReplyDeleteI am incredibly excited about how the episode ended. Looking forward to season 8 so much! I hope we get to see Cas and Dean working together and relying on each other in purgatory. And Sam and Jody working together.
ReplyDeletelol oh you
ReplyDeleteI like your brain.
ReplyDeleteThe only qualm that I have about this episode is that it seems that SPN doesn't has a fight choreographer. Seriously lacking in punch kick action all around; even Meg's fight scene was really meh, just showing up the beheading.
ReplyDeleteAnd Dick, why was he so smiley? I would have preferred a "Big No", unless, his seeming confidence upon death meant something.
Does Sam still has to blow up the lab? I think he will. To bring Dean and Cas back, would he have to open a way to purgatory? I guess he could use Leviathan blood for the spell (I asume they count as native), so the tricky part would be an eclipse (I'm sure he could get a virgin to donate some blood)
Not a very exciting finale per se, but I like where it leads the story.
PS: Do angels go to Purgatory when they die?
Goodbye Season Seven. You won't be missed. Here's hoping for a collective memory wipe by the time fall shows up.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have no money.lol
ReplyDeleteIt also looked like Castiel would be the Big Bad of S7 but it didn't happen that way.
ReplyDeleteThe montage was merely ok. It really needs to be about the brothers ONLY. No Bobby, Bring Castiel back and keep the boys apart for the 1st half of the season. I like the idea of Dean and Castiel in Purgatory.
ReplyDeleteThe BEASTS will be pissed because not only did Castiel use thousands to millions of the power of souls while a god, he also killed many many monsters before that with Crowley.
ReplyDeleteCool ; )
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about Cas abandoning Dean. I don't think there is any rule about angels not being able to enter or exit purgatory, is there? He may not be stuck or forced to stay. I know Cas opened purgatory through that spell, but that was to get the souls out, not for him to get in.
ReplyDeleteWhat if Cas can leave at will, and go from Dean to Sam and back, as a line of communication between them? I don't know how I would like that, but I don't think there are canon rules set up that are clear regarding angels being stuck in purgatory. It shouldn't be like the Cage in hell.
Good point! It's been a while since the writers allowed Dean to have the kill, after he threatens it earlier.
ReplyDeleteWhile I hate complaining about the show and really try and be positive about it I agree somewhat. In hindsight Sera Gamble kind of sucked the terror out of the show. When the Leviathans first appeared they were deadly.
ReplyDeleteDean had his leg broken, they brought down Bobby FINALLY.
ReplyDeleteI love that Dean is the one that killed Eve, their mother. So this should get very interesting. I hope we meet old monsters and allies. It could be a real Dantesque journey, with awesome writing. (As long as Sam gets the rescue this time, and not Cas. Or Dean figures it out on his own. I want the boys smart again, and proactive.)
It could be the monsters are pissed at him having used the souls for his conquests. He wouldn't be popular in Purgatory.
ReplyDeleteI just hope he did not try to get a game of Twister with the monsters.
ReplyDeleteHmm not sure I like that rule, but then again I don't view the Impala as some fans do. Honestly, if I didn't see people complaining they hadn't seen the car in awhile I never would've noticed it was missing.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like leaving things to the imagination, I'd still like some stuff to have a visual of from the show.
Crowley's guys snatched her and said Crowley would see her now.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Cas will have to toss being a pacifist will go out the window. It seems like an interesting place to take the character.
ReplyDeleteThey left Dean in Purgatory!!!
ReplyDeleteWow... I've been rambling but my main questions that came up when the episode first finished was How is Dean gonna get out of Purgatory? and How is Sam gonna fix the Impala after running into that sign? Because you know Dean will want it when he gets back... Well now Im done... I think... Cant wait for next season!! :-)
It was amazing.
ReplyDeleteHe is the only one who can save them. Unless they escaped from within. But i don't think so. I mean it's not like Leviathans could escape.
ReplyDeleteWell, then he is going to need more blood from the Alpha and i don't think he will be so helpful this time.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about Death, he was pretty pissed off in the season seven premiere. But maybe he will help them because they need to stop Crowley from whatever he is going to do.
But if they do another portal probably more monster will escape.
LOL.
ReplyDeleteHey, that's kind of cool. I like that idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you! You've seriously raised my hopes regarding this whole plot direction.
ReplyDeleteFor that lie, hate you Crowley!
Bobby is in Purgatory.
ReplyDeleteBut they didn't died i think. They're just in purgatory.
ReplyDeleteAlso i don't think he could go from purgatory that easy. If it was hard to open a door to purgatory it must be harder to escape.
ReplyDeletePlus if the Leviathans can't escape purgatory why would angel could?
ReplyDeleteBut Castiel has been plotting since season 6.
ReplyDeleteHe wants to search for more "words of God"
ReplyDeleteyou're right in your last paragraph.
ReplyDeletei want at least two episodes in purgatory.
ReplyDeleteHe would still need the blood from the Alpha i think.
ReplyDeleteAnd also Death doesn't have any motivation to bring back Dean.
ReplyDeleteI really liked it. I still think this season overall lacked the urgency of previous seasons, and there's so much rehashing of story here and there, but there were things that happened that I needed to happen:
ReplyDelete1) Sam telling Dean to shut up. (I mean for a moose, he's been takin' a lot of flak lying down this season)
2) The lack of angst.
(I have a terrible feeling this will last until the mid-season of season 8...they might milk the purgatory for all its worth and then some...)
5) I wonder how Sam is going to handle the dismantling of the Sucrocorp...slaughterhouses?
6) Have we truly seen the last of Bobby? I personally feel like they sort've just killed him halfway through the season in the season with the most laid back, pushover enemies in the show just to drag him along for the ride until they finally were like "OK Bobby has to die"...While I prefer they put him to rest after all that he went through in the second half of the season, it just reminded me of how stupid killing him off was... HOWEVER, this leads to #7:
7) will we finally have room for new (decent, not mockup, Bobby-clone-like) characters? will they successfully change the dynamic of the show without introducing a slew of characters just to kill them off by episode 16? I would kinda like that, especially if they are going into season 8 with the thought that it is NOT the end.
Gosh, that ending opened so many possibilities for season 8: Evil Dean, Demonic Sam, John Winchester resurrection....the possibilities are endless.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading about how dissapointed other people were about the finales of their favorite shows, I have to admit, I was more than a little worried.
ReplyDeleteyeaaaaah When they were burning the flask i said to myself we better NOT see Bobby Burning I was like THANK GOD i wouldn't take it Oo
ReplyDeleteWe don't know that. It was just someone here's speculation.
ReplyDeleteI was overall happy with it. Could it have been better? Perhaps. Not sure what to do though to make it better.
ReplyDelete- They tied up Leviathan storyline.
- They brought back the Impala
- They dealt with Ghost Bobby
- They gave Cas & Crowley some great scenes
- They set up S8 with 2 stories to work on.
ReplyDeleteI know I keep repeating myself on this but for me the Castiel persona is holding this show back.
That's Meg, not the Metallicar.
ReplyDeletethis episode remind me of a poster that dean is in earth/heaven and sam is in real hell right now dean are pulgatory/hell and sam but the difference is he is in tree hell, earth and heaven
ReplyDeleteI liked the episode more than I thought I would.
ReplyDeleteI liked that the Bobby story ended the way it did.
ReplyDeleteThe episode wasn't so action-packed as it was hyped up to be but it was a great episode nonetheless.
Definitely looking forward to Season 8!
I feel the same. :)
ReplyDeleteThey've done an awful lot of that this season, cutting scenes that were in the promos. Very annoying.
ReplyDeleteYeah it looks promising so far Sam will get his time.
ReplyDeleteYeah, or else monsters would be escaping all the time.
ReplyDeleteQUICK POINTS~
ReplyDeleteCarry On My Wayward Son~ It was tissue time....that song is the theme song for SPN in my heart so I loved hearing it.......
You are right and it was Dean that got that to happen. tvmonkey made it sound like Dean had not been doing every thing possible to help Sam.
ReplyDeleteYou could have gone forever without saying this, makes it seem soooooo much longer. lol
ReplyDeleteAgree, Cas is always just popping away to check things out.
ReplyDeleteI finished the episode an hour ago and I am still flipping out!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, all those votes for 'Awful'?! Never in my life have I seen such a picky/nit-picky bunch of fans!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I thought the finale was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteIt was sad saying goodbye to Bobby, but I do not think that this is the real thing for the boys or for him.
Sorry it is longer than that, does not start until early Oct.
ReplyDelete"but at least this time it looks like we're going to see what Dean goes through?"
ReplyDeleteThey've always dealt with their special effects issues by making the monsters shadows/ hints of something mysterious, or by putting them in human form.
ReplyDeleteI find it sad that they took this aproach because they had so much potential in the first 2 episodes of the season as these kind of chaotic creatures which could have a wayyy more interesting mytologhy that expanded what we knew about the SPN from the past seasons. So disapointed with S7 really :/
ReplyDeleteThat Jacket was just wrong.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we have to worry about Dean surviving purgatory (other than there wouldn't be a show without both Winchesters), if one of the creatures kill him I'm pretty sure he would just come back to life. When your in there your in there indefinetly or until someone opens a doorway or something to somewhere else. The rules could be different since he didn't really die to get there but rather was transported there.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it, if anything we'll get Dean's POV.
ReplyDeleteBut I love the idea of it being Dean alone in Purgatory and Sam trying to free him, with Cas's help.
Good point, that was actual follow through usually they have him all mouth and no trousers.
ReplyDeletenot a Sam fan then? A whole season of Dean and Cas's purgatory adventures? Why would they do that? Why wouldn't they just write Sam out completely so Jared can move onto something new?
ReplyDeleteIf Bobby is there then I can see the writers going Bobby/Dean in purgatory Sam/Cas trying to get Dean at least out?
ReplyDeleteFor showing Dean's fights with monsters, what are they going to do? Put all of the monsters in human form? Or just show Dean's half of a battle with a dragon? And what happens if a monster kills you when you're already in Purgatory? I think Dean's POV is going to be mostly ducking and hiding and looking for other friendlies.
ReplyDeleteIf ghosts do go to Purgatory, then along with Bobby, Dean might also run into his mom, and possibly his dad (who seemed to be in spirit form last we saw him) there.
ReplyDeleteBefore every season I get my hopes up that, finally, we may get Sam's POV, and every season I am disappointed. I hoped that the rumors of Sera being a Sam fan would mean more Sam POV, but that didn't happen. I began to hope again with new show-runners coming in, but your comment that Carver is a Dean / Cas fan has me worried.
ReplyDeleteI wish they'd stop writing Dean's character with the same inconsistency that they write Cas' character.
ReplyDelete
