The Barney/Quinn engagement was predicitable, but I don't fucking care because the Bride is Robin and I knew it! I fucking knew it and I've been so worried all day and it was her and oh God.
Marvin was adorable, although I wish they had chosen Hurricane as his middle name.
The ending of both story lines were really forced (Ted-Victoria and even more so Barney-Robin). I hate that the writers didn't stick to their guns with the Barney-Robin thing. Average episode overall, although I'm glad to see Ted and Victoria back together.
can i just repeat something future Ted said at a wedding (His) "NEVER INVITE AN EX TO YOUR WEDDING IT ALWAYS ENDS BAD!" Robin and Barney Wont get married
I feel like people keep mentioning that, but I don't know where I could find that interview or whatever that said that. Do you know where it is? Actually very curious here, because that just seems like a big statement for the HIMYM people to make given how hesitant they are to reveal stuff.
I really enjoyed the first part of the episode - the stories that Ted and Robin used to distract Lily from her contractions were really entertaining, though Robin treating Lily like a farm animal got old fast. I thought the Marshall and Barney in Atlantic City half was kind of meh. I enjoyed the old people rising up and faking heart attacks so Marshall could get to the hospital, though... so great!
As for the second half, I have to admit... Barney's magic trick proposal was pretty awesome. His moment with Robin in the apartment was pretty sweet... I love their banter, and I don't think we got to see too much of that this season. Well, maybe just since the introduction of Quinn. Ultimately I suppose I'm glad she was the bride at the end, even if I had been enjoying Quinn on the show. I think she and Barney were good for each other, despite what a lot of people think.
I'm sure the 'shippers liked it but the ending of that second episode was total crap. It played out like a show that tacks on a happy ending to their finale at the last minute because they've been told they're canceled.
YES YES YES!!! I am so freaking happy right now!!! I KNEW Barney and Robin belonged together!!! WOOOO!!!! The episode as a whole was okay, and yes the proposal was super cool, but the best part was that Robin is the bride!!! I can't stop smiling! :D I can't wait to see how Barney proposes to Robin! ;)
I love that Robin is the bride, it had to be her, I knew it was her, although I'm kinda worried that Ted said the wedding day went horribly wrong. I hope that doesn't mean they won't get married.
I was a little bit confused too because he said it all started on a wedding that went horribly wrong or something like that and then it went on to show that it was Victoria's wedding day so i didnt know if he was referring to barney and robin's wedding or Victoria's wedding. Either way, it was stated that barney IS getting married with the bride, Robin, so the wedding will happen. :)
Honestly, I'm just parroting what I've heard, so it's entirely possible it's a misquote or even a fabrication.
I'll just say that even if they haven't confirmed that, I think it's pretty unlikely that they told this story over two years only to pull the rug out.
Look at what Babar posted, it'll give all of us Robin and Barney lovers a peace of mind :) http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/05/15/how-i-met-your-mother-season-7-finale/
OMG I love it!! Like you guys said the ending got me. I am so happy all my couples are toegther!!! I can't wait to actually see Ted and Victoria as a couple!!
Well it sucked. I mean, i do love HIMYM and all the gags and Marshall being drunk, but I expected WAY more from producers - really? Victoria? Another girl from the past? How is it possible that she was in that class (5x01 episode) and didn't recognize Ted and didn't went to talk to him? How she was roommate of Cindys? How she was at that bar at St. Patricks day? It just doesn't fit and I hope that the mother turns out to be someone else.
About Barney and Quinn/Robin - it was obvious for quite some time that Robin is the bride and it's not going to be Quinn. I don't care. I am just glad that those shippers will now stop posting "I hate Quinn" kind of stuff.
Finale had huge potential but it was kind of ruined and the things with Victoria went too easy and I am not buying it.
I never realized that seeing Barney and Robin would make me this happy. But it did. I really loved Ted and Victoria storyline. I must say she is the only one of Ted's girlfriends that I actually like and found enjoyable so I was happy to see her again.
Oh the baby Eriksen - the whole thing was so cute. Marv Waitforit Eriksen. The coolest name ever!!!
I guess we won't be seeing Quinn again since Becki Newton has moved on to her own show.
Just read the article and I jumped to misconclusion - Victoria won't be the mother and then is going to meet the real mother on Barney's wedding day. Well, for all I know, it is going to be the finale of season 8 so only 24 more episodes left till I see the mother. Yay!
Well, it wasn't perfect by any means, but I liked it. Barney's speech to the bus driver, Lily and Marshall becoming parents, the most excellent middle name, the Quinn/Barney stuff (which was actually pretty sweet), the Victoria/Ted stuff (although I wish she'd gone back to her wedding; she deserved a happy ending, and we know she won't get one with Ted) and, finally, Robin's the bride! I mostly expected it, but I'm happy all the same. I'm curious as to how they'll get there, and having Barney propose to Quinn seems a little mean, but still. Seeing Robin in her pretty pretty wedding dress made me all smiley. I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
Stella ended up with the one she loved, so leaving Ted was the right choice. So there. And stop worrying so much about a TV show, you'll get a stroke :)
The second part was so mehish and not surprising at all.I get they were trying to get some missdirection with Quinns proposal, ut at the end it came of as "nah, it has been Robin all along" And it just feels like half of the plot this season was cheap twists.I mean, part of me loves Robin/Barney, but was ll this kipple necessary?
heh, hopes season 8 gets it's shit together, season seven had just too much filler, and beyond baby Marvin, nothing has changed from the last season: Ted and Victoria won't work out and Quinn will be gone too.
Its the most predictable show on TV but that doesn't mean it can't surprise you. Robin was endgame we all knew it, didn't really lose its magic though.
Out of respect for the writers If i could choose id make it its second last season because they have probably mapped out where he next season goes and ending there would be forced. I am watching the show out of loyalty, still love every minute of it.
But hey, at least she will stop posting everywhere how much she hates Quinn/Nora/Kevin/anyone-being-in-a-relationship-with-Barney or Robin. I think this might be the biggest advantage of this finale. :)
I wasn't a fan. Robin being the bride was obvious, and I don't rate them as a couple. Ted and Victoria won't happen, so that was a waste of time. This show used to be so good...
Can Ted be more pathetic? And I thought he was supposed to meet the mother at Barney's wedding? So it means that he won't stay with victoria very long. Good.
So the wedding was a flashforward, which means the wedding will be 8th season finalé. They've only ordered 8th season so far, and while I believe seasons 9 and 10 at least are coming too, wouldn't the show live past it's title How I MET Your Mother, if they kept going after Ted meets the Mother?I guess that's irrelevant.I believe Season 8 is about - Ted and Victoria being together, realising it isn't right, breaking up, Ted is heartbroken until he goes to the wedding in the finale and meets the Mother.- Barney being engaged to Quinn, all happy and stuff, Robin meets a new Kevin and somewhere down the road Robin/Barney spark comes back, Barney/Quinn ends, Barney proposes to Robin, they get married at the end of season 8 - Lily and Marshall raising the baby and dealing with being parents. So if they order 9th Season (which they will), what will it be about?- Ted and the Mother being in a relationship with Ted probably proposing and marrying her by the end of season 9 with the possibility that by the end of the season the Mother will be pregnant;- Barney and Robin being married and something else- Marshall & Lily + babyAnd Season 10? - Well, if Ted and Mother get married in may 2013 and the Mother also gets pregnant, this would pretty much conclude their storyline when the kids are born at the end of season 10 (2014, just like Trilogy time showed). And while we did only see the daughter, who's to say they aren't twins? I mean, it's QUITE POSSIBLE that the son and daughter are named LUKE and LEIA, who also were twins. So I see this show concluding with 10th season, with the last two seasons focusing on the main character Ted (finally), with Ted being married to the Mother and having two children. THE END(besides, no way CBS cancels HIMYM next season, it's pretty obvious Two and A Half Men will have it's last season so they won't throw out 2 out of their 3 most popular comedies and leave The Big Bang Theory carry all this weight by itself.* Sorry for the lost post but I felt like writing a lot because I just passed my 300th comment in SpoilerTV :) *
K_G, you were right along (did you send threatening letters to the writers? LOL!). I know I feel the same way about Ted. I don't know if you watch Secret Life but the speech Lauren gave Amy about making bad life decisions was better than what Robin was saying to Ted. I just want Ted to be happy. No relationship can last with that kind of bad karma he just created for himself. I NEED for Ted to be happy and feel like he's never been really happy in a relationship (not even with Robin). I love Ted the most out of all the gang but with every passing season, I just get a little depressed in regards to him. I don't know how he has stayed friends with both Robin and Barney, sometimes it feels like he outgrown them.
I have mixed feelings. I feel a little let down all around from all of the finales I have watched. Note for next season, don't get your hopes up too high.
Oh my god, what an utter shock that they went with Robin as the bride! It's not like the writers could have done something interesting with the characters!!!
I'll watch next season for the fumbling of getting Barney and Robin together, as well as the "wrapping up" of Ted's relationship with Victoria before he meets the mother...
Anyone other than Robin and I would have been highly perturbed. I loved that everyone thought "Wait For It " was the perfect middle name. I also though it was kind of cool that Barney got to pick it since, when the show started, he seemed so insecure about his position in Ted's circle. (They had that runner where he was always trying to get Ted to say he was his best friend.)
Ted & Victoria....really the only thing I wasn't on board with.
The only thing that matters is that they will get married, even if everything else goes wrong. Just remember Marshall and Lily's wedding, it didn't go quite well either, right. At least not that I remember, Lol. :)
Too true. The show used to be so much more original...now they're just being repetitive and not even in a good way. They showed that Barney and Robin fought all the time and weren't the best for each other when they were together, but hey, let's get them married a few seasons later. So stupid.
Not as great as season 1 or season 6 finale, but this was a really nice finale. I had predicted the magic box thing and I was actually expecting some curve ball with the bride, but it was as predicted too. As we go towards the meeting-of-the-wife moment, whether it is the final episode or no, I think some stuff may become predictable on account of all the hints being dropped since the first season.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
God damn that shit to HELL.
ReplyDeleteYay! So happy about the ending on all fronts. (It had to be Robin.) And baby Marvin was too cute!
ReplyDeletevery average episode but the ending was the most amazing thing ever. I am so happy!
ReplyDeleteThe Barney/Quinn engagement was predicitable, but I don't fucking care because the Bride is Robin and I knew it! I fucking knew it and I've been so worried all day and it was her and oh God.

ReplyDeleteI don't want to say "I told you so", but come on... there was literally NO other way that could have ended.
ReplyDeletePretty much exactly what I said hehehe
ReplyDeleteI think we all knew how this was going to end, it would have been disappointing if the bride had been anyone other than Robin.
ReplyDeleteBut WOW on Ted driving off with Victoria, I'm shocked!
can i just repeat something future Ted said at a wedding (His) "NEVER INVITE AN EX TO YOUR WEDDING IT ALWAYS ENDS BAD!" Robin and Barney Wont get married
ReplyDeleteOooh, I like the way you think, sir.
ReplyDeleteUm, yeah, I doubt they'd have two years of build up to a wedding where the two main characters don't even get married.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, but your theory isn't going to happen.
Pretty sure producers have already said they're going through with it.
ReplyDeleteI feel like people keep mentioning that, but I don't know where I could find that interview or whatever that said that. Do you know where it is? I'm guessing a double wedding

ReplyDeleteAn interview with showrunner Craig Thomas about the finale, the probably not-last season 8, and some stories ahead.
ReplyDeleteWell it sucked. I mean, i do love HIMYM and all the gags and Marshall being drunk, but I expected WAY more from producers - really? Victoria? Another girl from the past? ReplyDeleteYeah you're right I didn't think about that I just meant that she won't be there for long. I think the few episodes and she's out.
ReplyDeleteI don't like how they ruined Victoria's life, it is pretty obviously that she and Ted are gonna break up again.
ReplyDeleteWell, it wasn't perfect by any means, but I liked it. ReplyDeletelol no just no. It's clear Barney and Robin live happily ever after!
ReplyDeleteSigh I agree. Really hope the writers pull off another twist somewhere along the way...really don't like Robin and Barney together.
ReplyDeleteI knew!!
ReplyDeletebarney and robin???
ReplyDeleteno way that will ever work. it doesn't fit.
