I find this constant sniping at each other a bore. The writing is uninspired too. This macho tendency of getting into fights would never been tolerated. They would be facing massive fines plus jail time. Totally unrealistic!
I attempted to watch it since I am a fan of Michael Ealy from Sleeper Cell and Sonya Walger from Sleep Cell and LOST....
Boy this was terrible! More character before substance that is typical from USA Network, but none of the charm the shows usually have. Very little chemistry between the leads and most of the humor fell flat on me. What cop shoots an inflatable marketing balloon and keeps his badge? Just stupid!
I can see why the project was delayed so many times... It sounds somewhat good on paper, but the execution was not very good at all. I'm thinking the problem was not their therapist (who was recast in one of the many revisions during delays)it was the lead actors chemistry (or lack there of) and possibly just the premise overall.
I liked it. Made me laugh quite a bit, and yes I'll admitt part of that was the absurtity of the situation at hand, but I liked the chemistry of the leads and they managed to pull it off despite the over-exageration.
Good bubble gum TV to me. The cop stuff was very 'been there done that a thousand times before' but I didn't really care. I liked the characters. Didn't require a lot of thinking. Fun to see Miss Parker (The Pretender) again. It's been a while.
Some ppl take TV a little too seriously!!! I found this quite funny and different. Yeah in real life they get booted from the force or at least new partners but its just a damn TV show. It's entertainment. I give it a thumbs up for sure.
Like you i'm a fan of Michael Elay from Sleeper Cell, but i shut it off 25 minutes into it.It is Terrible. I gather you made it through the episode,i just couldn't do it.All they did was bicker,it got old real fast...
I did watch the entire episode, but I got myself coffee twice and a snack once without pausing it.... not to mention I decided to look at tablets online since I was bored. XD
It did not get better as the episode went on either. There were a few good laughs, but for every laugh there were at least 10 "jokes" that failed.
Who shoots stuff and still keeps their badge? Seely Booth comes to mind, LOL! But the clown had it coming, the inflatable guy was an innocent bystander.
Well, I don't know if you tolerated Prime Suspect (I enjoyed it despite it was nothing like the original and a serious misstep by not having a Helen Miren cameo) but the first episode really put me off (despite my affinity for the wonderful Maria Bello) but it got tuned waaaay down after the second episode and I found myself being able to enjoy it with that adjustment. My cable went out and I decided to finally watch the pilot last night via iTunes, I have yet to watch the next two episodes (but I almost always give a show 3 episodes so with my finger on the fast forward button I will check them out via ON Demand). I see potential but they kind of gave away everyone's motivations right away (which for a procedural is kind of a no no). But then pilots are not always official cannon and things get rectonned from time to time.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I loved it and am definitely going to keep watching. I ship Wes/Travis hardcore already.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Alicia Coppola, so I'm glad she's in this show. Penny, too.

I will not be watching again.
Pathetically unrealistic to the point of being un-watchable to me.

ReplyDeleteIt's was incredible! Hopefully we'll have several seasons of enjoyment out of this series.

ReplyDeleteTerrible show,will never watch again...
ReplyDeleteShe was in Desperate Housewives just now actually for some episodes. It's always good to see her on TV again :)

I've been watching Desperate Housewives and completely missed the mental connection. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling :)
ReplyDeleteSadly Beautiful People was apparently not picked up. NBC didn't even mention it yet as far as I know.

ReplyDeleteI know. I was thinking the same thing (she like Laura Innes constantly gets typed cast as "the bitch").
