I just looked up Jason Isaacs on IMDB to see what else he was in as his scenes tonight were just breathtaking. Anyway, holy shit, he was Lucius Malfoy. How the hell did I miss that!
I love this show! Jason Isaacs is amazing in the leading role. He's practicaly in every scene and I am glued to the screen watching him. I totally bought his frustration, despair and sadness in this episode. The scene in the hall was so raw and real. Other parts of this show work too (the only thing I really dislike is Vega's character).
I would love to see another season of this, but if it doesn't happen I hope that Jason is cast in something else very soon. Initially I had been looking forward to this show mainly because of him, because I had known how great he is, and he still managed to exceed my expectations!
Yeah, how the hell DID you miss that? I guess without the makeup/wig and affected voice and speech, it would be hard (but he was the first reason I checked out the show, the premise was secondary).
I think between Touch and PoI (Alcatraz as well) the high concept drama genre didn't have a lot of fans to go around when Awake FINALLY premiered. It suffered a lot of rewrites and production delays if memory serves me correct. I thought it would have been great for a lead in for Grimm on Fridays (I have no clue what comes on currently in that slot but I'm sure Awake would have been better). But yeah, I thought this show would catch on pity it didn't (*she sighs and shrugs for the umpteenth time about this show*).
I've gotten behind and finally got around to watching this ep, and wow, what a mind bending story and the awesome performance by Jason as a man whose mind and reality are breaking down are just amazing... I still have another ep to get caught up and already know that there wont be a 2nd season, and the television schedule for intelligent shows will be worse off for it. I love that Jason's talent which I am so used to seeing onscreen as the villain to menace can bring the heat in a heroic, vulnerable yet controlled performance... I will look forward to seeing his next role...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Feel like a broken record - why the hell can't this show catch on? It's incredible writing.
ReplyDeleteWow! In the best episode since the pilot (and there have been several strong ones since then)

That was amazing, seriously I was like losing it when Michael had his breakdown and thought Rex was dead. That was so good!
ReplyDeleteIt's a real shame that we're unlikely to get a 2nd season :(

I know sighs I hope its wrapped up in the finale, I think it could be.
ReplyDeleteHopefully NBC will go for quality over ratings, but it is doubtful :/ Anyone know what the DVR numbers are? Maybe it can make a difference.
