  1. I'm torn. I'm panicking about this being the last season, although I've said before that it should be. I don't know what I want!

Not sure.  Depends on how it goes.

  3. I hate to say this, but YES.
Season 6 was rough to sit through, and season 7 shows that while there's still some life in the show, they don't really have any weight behind them like the previous seasons. I'm mildly enjoying season 7 for the episodes that they actually move the story along, but it's no where near its former glory.

I think they need to pool their energy into an actually satisfying ending...where the enemies remain scary, the story remains intense without being "Dean gets drunk constantly and becomes beligerent while Sam is overtaken by his mane of hair"...

I think that they're working it out to have Sam & Dean back to their old dynamic (finally) but they mess it up again, and nobody is going to watch this show anymore. It's too soapy for a show "with no chick flick moments" (which is obviously a time far gone)...

There's still a great chance for this season to end on a high note (I really enjoyed the hacking episode) and then put us on track for a GOOD ENDING SEASON. Stringing this out any longer than 23 more episodes is going to kill me. O_O

  4. They should do at least up to 10 seasons like Smallville that would be awesome unless they don't have it in them to keep  going.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yes, because I want them to know it is the last season, and to act and write the best possible stories. I want them to know so they go out on top and do justice to a show that will be a cult classic forever, probably.

If they keep going, one year they will be cancelled with no warning and I don't want them to be writing filler epiodes, just to make their quota.

I will miss the heck out of it, but please, it's too good to not go out with one last perfectly planned year.

  6. I used to want more but considering the direction this season has been headed to i would like them to close up shop after having delivered a kick ass final season.
While most of the episodes of this season have been entertaining and some of 'em quite good, the show has been flailing..... The Leviathans aren't as menacing, threatening or executed quite as well as they could have been and a bit too many filler episodes, which do explore the relationship between the brothers but drag the show's storyline down and make it leave a small impact on the series as a whole.
Having said that, the final episodes are great and seem to be picking up speed as we head toward the end of the season!

I wish them good luck and look forward to a fascinating and explosive final season!!!

  7. Yes, while it's a classic fan favourite, there has to be a time when you say enough is enough and I think for this show that was 2 seasons ago, while I've enjoyed Season 7 WAY more than Season 6, I'd rather see it end on a high than keep going and get even more boring

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm not sure, honestly.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Honestly I have no idea! On the one hand, I can't imagine not having new episodes to watch! On the other, I don't think it's good to have too many seasons and stretch the story.
So if they can make this season 8 absolutely AMAZING and create a great ending to the story, I think I'm gonna me ok with that. Eventually;)

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's going to be tough to find an antagonist that can pack the wallop that is needed for more than a 22 episode final run. I'd hate to see them "step out" from the basic formula of the show but that may happen if it keeps on going.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes, it has been a god run, but it's time to end it.

    ReplyDelete
  12.  Spoiler TV why would you make a poll on should season 8 be the last?
God can we be happy! lol
But people should wait to see how season 8 goes with the new show runner first, then you will get your answer.

    ReplyDelete
  13. IF they can figure out a proper, satisfying arc for a final season then yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well we're a TV site and we want to get the opinions of tv fans.

We're just asking a simple question.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes.   I think it should have ended with Season 5 or 6, honestly.  But they should really go into the season know it'd the end.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I said it before, and I say it again this show is over. And its numbers say it all!!.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yes, I agree with that! ;) We deserve satisfying ending and so do Dean&Sam!

    ReplyDelete
  18. If they can keep up the quality then I see no reason to cancel it.

    ReplyDelete
  19.  "...while Sam is overtaken by his mane of hair". Hahaha! Maybe it turns out in the final season that his sideburns were evil and plotting and manipulating for world domination all these years!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I really don't know. I'm hoping Carver will able to breathe fresh life back into it. I think Sera G was brilliant at writing individual episodes (some of my fave episodes have been written by her), but her overarching season long storylines in season 6 and 7 were extremely flat/didn't go anywhere.

i don't know. I'm torn. I LOVE the show and don't want it to end but it's not what it used to be. Milking a show for all its worth can ruin what was once great about it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I say no. I would give Carver atleast two seasons. Because there is a good chance that if Season 8 was the last, we could be on here trying to get a movement for them to change that decision.

  23. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle3 May 2012 at 22:46

Im like klutzy girl in the first comment im torn. I did think that for a while now if it was going to end up being renewed that season 8 should be the final season and they should film it knowing its the final season just like smallville. But now with Jeremy Carver returning to showrun the show idk it has possiblities for more. And plus the last few episodes along with whats coming up have been a lot better! So im not sure if it is the final season I wont be to upset but if they think about running more seasons i wont be mad either. Plus im going to college now starting in the fall so i wont be watching as much as i can.

  24. I have a strong belief that no show at all, no matter how good it is, should go past 10 seasons. 10 seasons is more than enough time for any show. Anything beyond that is just the network beating a nearly dead horse.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yes, I would like to see the show go on a few more seasons. This is the only show that I truly love on this network so they need to keep it around a few more season cause I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I can't really get my head round the fact that anyone who still enjoys watching Supernatural would want it cancelled!
When a show is cancelled it's dead.
All that's left for fans to do is keep watching the same old episodes on DVD

If the show is still on the air, it can better itself continuously.
Even if  each single episode doesn't suit every fan, there is always going to be some that they do like.

In my opinion it's better to have new episodes than none at all.
What's with the "living in the past?"
The past was great and there's no reason why the future can't be too.

A little bit of optimsm please!
There is no reason why it can't go to 10 seasons, none at all!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I say give Jeremy carver a chance for 2 seasons atleast. He's written some brilliant episodes, and I think a majority of the fanbase doesn't agree with Sera Gamble's writing. Jeremy, I'm counting on you to get the brilliance of the show back!!
Season 8 should NOT be the last. Give it atleast until season 10.

    ReplyDelete
  28. God, I hope so. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good show but it's not as good as it once was. But I am still a huge fan. Some shows can go on and on but a show like Supernatural NEEDS to end at some point.

They need one more great season and have the time to wrap everything up and then end it. I can't say for everyone but I can for myself. I DO NOT want another season where it could be the last season and have either the season or series finale or both end up sucking so bad.

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are two very talented actors and I hope to see them in other movies or TV shows. A lot of talented actors star in some movie or TV series that lasts forever and don't get the chance to star in anything else because they end up being burned out from the same old thing.

  29. I think the Fandom wishes for many more seasons, but we all know the boys have lives outside the studio. I want them to keep working, keep filming more seasons, but I also want them to have the family and home time they need and deserve. I'm torn because we want the show to continue into eternity, but I can't imagine how difficult it is for them to be away from their families. So yes, selfishly I want Supernatural to continue into eternity, but I want them to continue making it only as long as they want to keep creating it.

  30. in my head.. the show ended after they defeated Lucifer  :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm in 2 minds. Haven't liked the past 3 seasons very much but I still adore Sam and Dean. I guess I'll see where next season goes. I need it to be Sam and Dean hunting, saving people, being brothers, maybe having some fun.

    ReplyDelete
  32. They are still doing the show cause they enjoy it and it's there income.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I said it should continue. People still watch it and enjoy it, plus I want Jeremy Carver to get a good 2 seasons to see what he can do.  I'm hoping the

  34. It's tough to be an optimist when the show is such a mess. This season has made me miss season 6. At least that season added to the show. The Campbell family were interesting additions to the cast. Their grandfather expanded what we knew about the world the story is taking place in. This season they killed Bobby, his replacement, and we got Garth. That doesn't add much to the show. Given how much the cast has brought to the show, it's problematic to see that happen.

If they can build a stronger backing cast, I could see the show going on. If not, I don't want to see it limp into just being passable.

  35. Shimmerinstars773 May 2012 at 23:31

Season 4 and 5 were the worst ( 5 was a disaster, such dishonest storytelling) and it was no longer the Supernatural we knew and the boys were strangers  Season 6 had way too many myth arcs and some good episodes in its second half and Season 7 it started out good but quickly fell back into the angst and secrets crap But since episode 18 the boys have been noticably becoming a solid and cohesive  team again and the bond between them  is growig stronger. The showrunners just need to make them the focus of the show and stop being cowards and  say good bye to Castile and the Angel mythology. for good this time as they have not fit into the show for seasons so stop  force fitting them in. Its only hurt this show further each time they do and this show is above this
Hopefully Season 8 will bring Supernatural fullc ircel again back to its beginnings and it be the story of sam and dean

    ReplyDelete
  36. Let's see how it goes. I think an end date needs to be figured out but it could take more than season 8 to get there.

    ReplyDelete
  37. It depends on what season 8 is like. I am glad Sera stepped down because she has really butchered the show the last 2 seasons. If the new show runner turns it around and makes it to be everything we loved about the show before Sera took over then no, it should keep going on. But if it's going to be the same old boring crap then just end it already and spare the fans any more pain.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree. Season 7 WAS way better than season 6 but the new show runner could turn it around. Let's see what he can do first. Season 5 was the best season and it ended perfectly for a series finale, just how Kripke wanted. Then we got Sera....the last 2 seasons were horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I wanna hit the 10 seasons mark...Then we can revisit this conversation!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Since I'm among the few who think (most of) seasons 4 and 5 were total crap and destroyed what made the show so special, hell yeah I think SPN should go on. Seasons 6 and 7 had flaws but I feel like we're so close to getting back to the awesomeness that was season 2. If that happens in season 8, count me in for many more years.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm somewhere between "yes" and "not sure"....

    ReplyDelete
  42. Where's the "Hell no, beetch you cray-cray!" option?

    ReplyDelete
  43. jensenfan19784 May 2012 at 01:06

Jensen said the last two seasons were really messed up and he hopes to see the show go back to the basics.  They were lost.  I think with going back to what worked, they can go much further then season 8.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am with this show until the guys get tired of doing it, even the not so good eps to me are better than most of what is on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I do not know I like to see a season 9 or up to 10 like smallville but  you never know.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love the show. I truly do. But it's done! What more can you do with it? It's like kicking a dead horse.

Now even with that said, what they could do is start a new series, a sequel series, with a new plotline and a new type of show but with the same characters. Think Doctor Who or Star Trek.  That could work.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Just because they live to fight another day, doesn't mean we should keep following them.

Supernatural finished it's big storyline two seasons ago, and while it has scrambled for a big mythology plot to follow, there has been a very bad few episodes in the mix. Something I couldn't really say happened during Kripke's run (I'm talking so bad I would skip the episode entirely when rewatching the season).

Now the show has fought things from hell, heaven and purgatory. There's nowhere really else to go, so once Dick and the Leviathans have been defeated in Season 8, let's just leave it there. The brothers can walk off into the sunset. Cause unless Sam and Dean are gonna kill god next, there's no major threat that isn't gonna feel like old hat and the show is just going round in circles.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Huh. Interesting. I'm okay about most of your comment. It's your opinion after all, but your last sentence kind of bugged me.

"I say go for 10 seasons, 8 to fully get it back on track and 9 and 10 to make up for seasons 4 and 5 when Kripke did so much damage to this show and its characters."

So basically, have other people come in and fix the story and characters that were originally his.

    ...

Looking past the whole disrespect to the creator of the show, I also very much doubt anyone else other than the writers of Seasons 1 and 2 will be able to recreate that magic again.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Because the show is beginning to suck now and they can probably either get better, more interesting roles to play on a brand new show and maybe even movie deals?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wan't them to put the show back on tracks, and if it takes two seasons to do it so be it.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I LOVE Supernatural but I think that it's slowly dying and I don't want it to fade away or be dragged out any longer. It's run it's course and as sad as I would be to see it go, it's time to move on. I will always support Supernatural and whatever the actors choose to do.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Why should season seven be the late?

Even if, IMO the last two seasons are not as strong as the previous ones; they are still very enjoyable.
Jensen and Jared seem to love their job and love to work together. Even Misha, and I think Jim, are eager to come back.

Some fans wish the show to go back to the basic. I don't.
The boys have changed. They are more mature and their relation is healthier. They didn't choose the hunter life, but now they both have embraced it. I don't see the brother's bound breaking again or one of them wishing to quit. I don't see Sam question is humanity again. Now, Dean sees Sam more as a partner than the little brother he must protect.
The dynamic between them has changed. Emotional challenges must change too.

Also, as they are stronger individually and as a team; to keep the suspense, they need some strong opponent; not just some random ghosts.

Season four and five have brought new layers to the show. I don't know how; but I hope the writers will broaden and expand the spn universe again.

So season eight, nine, ten ... I'm all for it. Cas being part of it is like whipped cream on the brussels waffles ;-p

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think people should be allowed to criticize Kripke from time to time,
since a lot of fans had no problem trashing Sera Gamble whenever they
had a chance, including on this board.

There can be no "fixing" what was done in season 5 but Carver could certainly make me forget about it. Sera couldn't, although she came pretty close.

    ReplyDelete
  54. As much as I love the show, and as much as I'd be sad to see it end, I think they could go out on a high note with Season 8. Unless they come up with some epic new mythology, it might be time to let go... especially after the last two seasons, which have been a little rough. And if not for the show's sake, then for Jensen and Jared's, as well as all the talented people that work on it. I'd love to see them shine on a network that gets more exposure, or even in the film industry.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I suppose you can criticize...but I still think there needs to be some respect for Kripke, more so than Gamble and any other writer on the show. Because it's HIS. We wouldn't have Sam, Dean or Supernatural without him. It's his world. His story. He can do whatever the hell he wants with it. Even run it to the ground and in my mind, no matter how much I might not like it, I still have to respect that cause its HIS.

Now, I know he stepped back and lets others to run the show. But I don't think it'll be (and honestly, it hasn't been) the same and I think is the main reason why the show is just getting further and further away from its roots.

Despite the faults of Season 5, Season 6 and 7 were worse.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I can't believe true fans of the show would want it to end. Then again the 'true' fans have had me scratching my head for years. Me, I want it to keep going for as long as possible. Sam and Dean haven't let me down yet.

    ReplyDelete
  57.  XD
The blood was just a diversion; YED sprayed baby sammy hair with demon shampoo!

The final episode will be titled : "Bad hair day at black rock"

    ReplyDelete
  58. You love the show, truly... and you want it to end. Right...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Agree and agree!
I have the utmost respect for Sera Gamble and Jeremy Carver.
Let's see what the later can do to renew the show without betraying it spirit.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Amen. Why would anyone who was really a fan want it to end?

    ReplyDelete
  61.  I was a big Xfiles fan back in the days. XF latest seasons were horrible but I still remember the show fondly. The bad years haven't ruin or negate the good ones.
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. You don't understand. Supernatural Season 1 was a very different show from Supernatural Season 7. VERY different. It's not completely a new worse show, but it's getting there and I'd rather it stop now before it becomes recognizable.

Also, I love the show because I love the story. But I believe the story has ended. All stories must end. They can't go on forever. Even those that seem to go on forever, like Marvel Comics, or Star Trek, or Dr. Who, are only able to do so by completely starting over again with new characters or rebooting old characters, etc.

In the end, ALL STORIES END. Supernatural will end. And I say now than latter based on the current quality of episodes we've seen so far. I love the show enough to want it to end on a positive note, rather than an unrecognizable grotesque note.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Well I take it as a sign of respect that a lot of people including Shimmerinstars77 want the show to be more like it was in the first seasons, when Kripke was still in charge. To me he lost his way somewhere during season 4 but I think we all know what we owe to the guy. At least three years of pure awesomeness. But still, if Shimmerinstars77 wishes that seasons 4 and 5 could be made up for, it's his right and I don't see it as disrespectful since it can't be done anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Its numbers say it's the 2nd highest rated show on the CW, so I'm not sure what point you were trying to make.

    ReplyDelete
  65. No, you don't understand. I've been with Supernatural from the beginning and every season has it highs and lows but in the end it never disappoints. Why in the hell would anyone that loves the show want it to end then have a spin off with new characters? That would only cheapen the show and ruin the memory of it. I'm a fan of the show and more importantly what MADE it a show, the brothers. I will be right there watching as long as it is on. And I for one hope that is a very long time.

Season 1, 2 and even 3 were special, I wore out season 1 and had to buy a new copy. BUT the show had to grow and it has. I have high hopes for 8, 9, 10 and beyond. I am a fan, simple as that.

    ReplyDelete
  66. It all depends on what Jeremy Carver does with the show this year. If there are still interesting, creepy, fun stories to tell and all involved are still interested in keeping the show going, then by all means YES! Bring on seasons 9 and 10. :)  But if either J gets a career making opportunity, or Carver's ideas bomb (which I honestly cannot see happening -- I have faith that the man can and will return the show to the character driven, action/horror show it used to be) then hopefully it can go out with a bang. I, personally, vote to keep the Winchesters around for a couple more seasons. Show of hands? :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I hope Jeremy Carver has a well developed plan for Supernatural, and that he has the guts to execute said plan.

Last two seasons had their moments, but even with season 7 still airing  I dare to say, season 6 and 7 looked like Sera had no idea where she wanted to take the show.

I think Jeremy deserves at least 2 seasons to develop his ideas, but I'd love to have 10 Season of Supernatural, ending the show with a planed 2 hour finale.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I want Supernatural to go through season 10, provided of course that the actors do too.  I don't think we've run out of stories to tell and I'm still as interested in the brothers Winchester as I ever was.  Do I think some things need to change?  Of course I do.  But I am still happier with this show now than I was at the end of season 4.  I can't wait to see what Jeremy Carver brings to the table next year.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You know why Season 1 is your most favorite, most watched? Cause the show was brand new and Sam and Dean were brand new. Each episode, we got to learn a bit more about them. Not only that, but since Sam and Dean have been estranged for a few years, these first two Seasons was about them getting to know each other again and regaining their bond they had as kids.

Now, we know them. There's nothing really new to learn. We know they have a very strong bond, but the only way to really show this bond is to test it. But in order for the test to be worth watching, it has to be one we haven't seen before. And I can say their bond has been tested in every possible way.

We haven't see the stuff that we loved from Seasons 1 and 2 in a while. Now. you don't care, you're a fan.

You know what. Okay. I'll concede to you. I still say I'm a fan, but lets just say you're a bigger fan than me. Let's settle with that.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I honestly think that the CW will honor Supernatural with a "final season" memorial when it comes time to end it.  They are becoming famous for them, they always rise in ratings when they do, and SPN has a strong fan base.  No reason to think that the show will be cancelled without warning unless it comes down to contract disputes next year.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It's numbers say that it is the most consistent show between last year and this year of anything the CW has.  Last year ended on a 0.8 demo.  This season has consistently been a 0.8 / 0.7, with one 0.6.  That is an amazingly low attrition rate for any network and astounding for the CW. People may want the show to end or think it is done creatively, but the ratings show it to be as consistent as ever.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Thinking about it, I think Kripke pulled his punches in Season 4. This is just speculation of course, but I think he was gonna have Sam and Dean kill each other, but backed out. And since then went with a softer ending.

I agree that it was during Season 4 that I felt the show jumped the shark.

Well, either way, it's my right to wish that people not say creators "damaged" their own stories or assume others can fix it or do it better than they can when it was theirs to begin with. I can express my opinion as you can express yours and Shimmerinstars77 can express theirs.

    ReplyDelete
  73.  "In my opinion it's better to have new episodes than none at all."

    *nod assent vehemently*

The writers gave us drunk Sammy and lederhosen Dean; poignant death and depressive teddy bear; farting unicorn and socially awkward nerd angel; hell and heaven, hardened hunters and crossroad demons, baby shapeshifters and wee!chesters, hellhounds and  hair-raising yorkshires, tricksters, djinns, sirenes, vampires, ghosts, witches, hallucifer, evil-rabbit-foot ...
I think we should give them some credit

And as long as the show live, the fandom live.
fanfic, fanart, tumbrl and twitter madness, endless discussions about the lenght of Sam hair, polls, conventions ... who would want to end that?
    ;-p

    ReplyDelete
  74. I think fans want them to have a lot of choices but I'm not sure Hollywood thinks that way.  It's difficult to get a new job in Hollywood and quite frankly both of them have basically been employed by the CW for most of their career (Days of Our Lives notwithstanding).  While I am sure that the CW would hire them in a heartbeat, they could never get another role like the ones they have now on the CW.  They are too old for that network.  As for the rest of Hollywood, they would be competing with thousands of other 30-something actors, about half of whom are better known than Jensen or Jared.  Just look at Chad Michael Murray who jumped from the CW to pursue his hot career.  Even he had higher name recognition than the Js and I can't recall anything he's done since OTH.  (Not that he is anywhere as good an actor as Jensen or Jared, but he was more famous than them.)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Sometimes loving things means knowing when to let go.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd say a majority of the fandom love Sera's writing.  The complaints have come about her show running and season arc planning.  Her writing was some of the best on SPN.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The fandom can live without the show. I've seen dozens of examples.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Considering that they are making 2.875 million dollars (pre-tax) for this season alone, not including con fees, merchandising cuts, residuals from syndication, etc., that is a nice incentive to stay even though they work impossible hours.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Agree. Criticism must be allowed.
    Some people trash
writers; others praise them. It's the two sides of the same coin; I
think writers are aware that it goes with the job.

    About season 5:
I don't see what needs to be fixed. It was a wonderful season. J. Carver was not only a writer, but also co-producer on the fifth season.

    DEAN
It's not too late. Damn it, Cas! We can fix this!

    CASTIEL

  80. Since the writers strike kept Kripke from doing what he wanted with HIS story, I say we blame that for what was to me the fiasco of season 4's second half and all of season 5.  For me, season 6 and 7 are much better.

    ReplyDelete
  81. At least Season 4 and 5 had a story. Season 6 and 7 barely has a plotline.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree with you on all counts.  Season 6 had too many plot twists and big bads and season 7 needed to make the big bad more bad.  Other than that, I think we are moving forward to a better Supernatural than it has been in years.  Episode by episode, season 7 has been really strong despite the lack of forward movement on the Leviathans for too long.  I have no hate for Sera.  I think Kripke left her with a mess.  Still I look forward to seeing what Carver has to offer.  Who knows what will happen next season?

  83. This poll and the comments have shown me something interesting.

If you have an amazing first half of a show, you can slack off for the rest of it cause it won't matter after that. The fans will stick around regardless.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I really cannot imagine Kripke having Dean and Sam killing each other.
Unless you mean possessed by Lucifer and Michael?

Even in that case, I just can  ... Dying together eventually, but not killing each other.

    ReplyDelete
  85. How can you say Season 7 has been strong? The only episodes I'd rewatch from this season out of pleasure is the first episode and Death's Door. The rest are forgettable. I wouldn't even re-watch The Born Again Identity, and I'm a Castiel fan.

True, I can say the same thing about Season 6, where only the last episodes are worth rewatching. But Season 5 has lots more rewatchable episodes, and so does Season 4, compared to these last two Seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  86. as much as i love the show and would love to see it go on for many more seasons, i would be happy with the 8th season being its final run! Supernatural is an amazing show, and 8 seasons is no easy feat. We have had 8 years with the boys! They have made us laugh, cry, furious, and we love them, as well as the actors who portray them. if the showrunners and the actors feel they can keep the story and characters going on for a 9th or even 10th season, then i congratulate them! but i'd be just as content if everyone is ready to move on with their lives (i mean, jared just had his little boy. and maybe jensen is thinking of starting a family of his own. plus the showrunners may want to move on to different projects) and show ends next season.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I just feel like the show was hinting since Season 2 that Dean would have to kill Sam. I was so certain that Dean and Sam would both face each other as Michael and Lucifer. I was rather surprised that didn't happen.

  88.  Show me your anti-possession tattoo! Only the true fans have it.
    ;-D

Sera: Oh... I mean, no offense. How often do you cry like that, hmm?
Dean: Well, right now I'm crying on the inside.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I take back what I said just because you made me smile by quoting that great piece of dialogue.

Yeah I suppose. I just nitpick cause to me criticizing Kripke is like criticizing the existence of Supernatural altogether.

    ReplyDelete
  90. WTH?! I'll watch Supernatural even if it stretched on to season 110 and beyond. I don't care if they're hunting fire ants in a nursing home. I love my boys and I'll watch whatever they give. I can't believe ppl are so torn. Sam and Dean until I die.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Not every episode in season 1 and 2 was good.  They gave us Bugs, Route 666, and Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things for a start.  None of which to me are good when compared to other SPN episodes.  As for season 5, the only truly epic episodes that make my top 20 episodes list are The End and Changing Channels.  I am not a fan of emoangsting but your mileage may vary.  I thought there were other decent episodes during season 5 but overall there was a lot of stuff I did not like.  Season 5 was the closest I've ever come to liking another TV show better than SPN.  As for season 7, it helps that I am a fan of standalone episodes.  That's part of what makes season 1 for me.  Of season so far, only 3 will hit my worst 25 episodes list - Girl Next Door for introducing us to the horrendous Amy subplot, Defending Your Life for being a waste of time, and Season 7 Time for a Wedding although that one was better than I expected it to be.  Other than that, I have thoroughly enjoyed season 7.  Meet the New Boss, Slash Fiction, How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters, Death's Door, and most of Time After Time have been some of the best SPN in a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  92. ...I kind of liked Route 666 and Bugs (not sure which episode is Child Shouldn't Play with Dead Things). I wouldn't say they were epic, but they were enjoyable. I didn't even know people didn't like them till I discovered the online fandom.

I guess it comes down to it being subjective. I'm more of a plotline person. I enjoy when standalones add to the larger plot. For me, every standalone in Season 1 added to the plot, because each one explored Sam and Dean's personalties a bit more. Jesus, I don't even remember Slash Fiction. That was the one where they were cloned and we discover soap hurts Leviathan right? Barely remember what happened in that episode, which is so weird. I see the whole series as...well a whole, and while those episodes you mentioned of Season 7 weren't horrible, are a far cry from the worst episode in the first seasons in my book (except Death's Door, which I believe was a true call back to the old ways. ...Also Hello Cruel World, but I have a feeling a whooole lot of people didn't like that episode).

And mostly that has to do with the fact that almost every episode there's a joke. The Turdurken. The time travelling. The witches. Dean has a kid. Garth. Charlie. Ballerina dances her feet off.

I mean, it's funny. I laughed. It was cute. But it's not...good. It's junk food.

    ReplyDelete
  93. "(Hey, remember back in Seasons 1 and 2 where EVERY episode was a good one? Yeeeaaah...)"

Well just like Dahne I think the vast majority of the episodes in season 7 have ranged from good to brillant. That's we think it's strong and getting closer and closer to the best seasons. They just need to let go of the useless angst and the Angels- for good, I think we'll get there.

I even think it could be better than the first seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Ugh. I'll stop watching if every episode is just a joke/gimmick next season.

The only thing that keeps me around for this season are the unanswered questions regarding Bobby and Castiel. Once they're answered and no new questions are brought up, especially no new questions that directly involve Sam and Dean, there's no reason to watch.

  96. I'm sorry you feel that way. I remember in season five I spent some time wondering why I should keep watching. I still haven't gotten over this season - in fact I never got around to watch The Curious Case of Dean Winchester for some reason, which I missed when I was taking a break from the show. I guess I'll watch it they manage to make me forget about season 5.

Anyway, I hope something good comes up next season that makes it worthwile for you again. I think Carver could pull that off ;)

    ReplyDelete
  97. I was like that for Season 6. Once Sam got his soul back, I found no more reason to keep watching. But then a friend said there was gonna be a Season 7 and I wanted to see why on earth it was continuing, It was the last episodes of Season 6 (basically the whole Castiel twist) and the first episode of Season 7 that has brought me back.

I also hope Carver than give me something good to look forward to in Season 8. :)

    ReplyDelete
  98. Season 4 and 5 were actually my favorite seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  99. It's strange, because if I recall correctly in Season 4 the ratings had a boost because of the fresh material?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Ah shame on me. I remember that quote but not the scene! WTH?

    ReplyDelete
  101. I don't know. All I know is that mid-season 4 I noticed they were overdoing Dean's angstiness and I had a bad feeling that it was a sign of deterioration.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I agree with the joke stuff. Season 1 was probably the best at balancing the jokes, keeping them mostly subtitle. Even when they had the Hell House episode I liked it. It wasn't too over the top. I liked the Ghostfacers thing much better in that episode then their season 3 one.

Main Plot/action wise Season 4 and 5 were most compelling for me. So much went on with the main arch. My ultimate season would probably be a blend of season 1 and season 4/5. Balancing drama, angst, action, family, friends, and evil villains that were true and creepy (Alastair- yeah I'm still creeped out just thinking about him).

    ReplyDelete
  103. Old Dean was funny. XD

    ReplyDelete
  104. There was a pretty big boost the first five episodes or so. Then the ratings got back to normal. I think the finale's ratings were pretty meh.

    ReplyDelete
  105. It's in episodes 620, when the boys have Castiel trapped in a ring of holy fire. Just as Crowley is arriving and the boys running away.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Though they'll complain, they stick around. Yep.

I'm not the biggest fan of season 3, 6, and 7. But they've all had there moments, like Mystery Spot and Jus In Bello in Season 3, even the somewhat unpopular DALDOM. <3 6th season was my roughest one. I did have several favs, but there was always some part of the episodes, even my favs, that were flawed in my view while in other seasons there were always episodes I could find to be my version of perfect. Often it had to do with humor being ridiculously silly or over done.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Have fellow fans smiling was the intend of the quote so me happy
    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  108. Yeah, the overly silly jokes and the non!plots were my biggest pet peeves as well.

I find it very weird for them to be working with Meg, who has been there since the very beginning ruining their lives. I think the boys need to remember she's responsible for killing Jo and Ellen. Crowley definitely the more lovable demons, despite probably being the more dangerous. It's his sense of humor.
I'm looking forward to the end of this Season. Despite all the flaws and all my complaints, the ending episodes have always been good ones (...except the Season 4 Finale. Worst. Cliffhanger. Ever.)

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm still waiting for Dean to track down Roy and Walt and scare the pants off of them. They CAN NOT end the series until they take care of that and dig up that amulet. I can't stand the fact that a bloody coat is cherished and carried along for nearly a year, but the amulet got trashed. I know there was a real life reason to ditch the amulet, but they could have gotten a rubber replacement. grrrrrr.  The amulet should find them again and start to glow during the series finale a long time from now to set up the rated R movie that they are going to do within the following year. Period.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Man I remember Sam and Dean's pranks on each other. Back when the humor was toned down and realistic. I loved that episode.

For some reason, I remember not liking Season 4 and 5. But actually looking back on the episodes, they weren't that bad. I think I didn't like Season 4 because of the finale, cause basically the entire season was foreshadowing Lucifer's rise from hell, but then they cut short of actually showing him. It also frustrated me that Dean did NOTHING in that episode other than sulk, bitch at Castiel, then fail at stopping Sam from starting the apocalypse. I wish he did more.  Season 5 was very good actually when I went back and re-watched the episodes, and I'll be lying if I said it didn't have to do with Castiel becoming human, bit by bit, which was very fun to watch (god I loved it when he beat the crap out of Dean, showing anger for the first time).

My problem with the season would have to do with Dean becoming uselessly depressed, which started midway Season 4 thanks to Hell. He bounced back and it wasn't too bad, but they really over did it with the Dean angst in these two seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  111. At a convention last year, didn't Jensen talk about these two ? I was sure they were gonna take care of them in season six. That must have been a made up story by some stupid fan.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Duh. From what else. I should have thought of that. Though I had a feeling it was end of season 6. It had to be.

    ReplyDelete
  113. ....who are Roy and Walt?

And I want to say this, as a Castiel fan, if I had to choose between the coat being back or the amulet being back, I would always pick the amulet. The amulet was one of my biggest disappointments. I had so much hopes for it and it was like the symbol for his devotion/love for his brother. I can't believe they got rid of it.
Wait, there's an actually real reason they needed to get rid of it?

  115.  "We know they have a very strong bond, but the only way to really show this bond is to test it."

Exactly! It is through painful and difficult ordeals that characters grow up and are made strongers. It's what make compelling stories.

    ReplyDelete
  116.  I want more seasons, Sera majorly screwed things up in the show, new showrunner Jeremy Carver will make things right again, you'll see!

    ReplyDelete
  117. When did Jensen said that the last two seasons were messed up?!
If you're referring to what he said during the Rome Con,he definitely did NOT say anything like that.
Unless you saw that somewhere else. But still, even if he did believe that(and I don't think it does),I'm having a hard time believing that he would actually say that.Where did you see that?

    ReplyDelete
  118. People cant keep blaming Sera for everything she wasnt working in a vacum while others sat on their hands.
I dont know yet if I  want this to be the last it will entirely depend on how the season goes? I  hope Jeremy can do a good job and gets us back to 'brothers' rather than the cast of thousands we seem to of been having .

    ReplyDelete
  119. They were my favorites too. Season 4 was my absolute favorite. It was perfect in every way. And yeah I think what it comes down to for most people is that some people don't like the angel storyline (although tbh how they didn't see it coming I cannot fathom) and so they tend to trash every season since 4. Whereas if you liked the angels, seasons 4 and 5 are great. 5 did have some iffy eps for me, but also some of my favorites like "The End", "Dark Side Of The Moon", "Free To Be You And Me", "Abandon All Hope", and I loved the finale, "Swan Song". The ending would have been a perfect way to end the show, not that I'm sorry it didn't. As much as I've been disappointed in 6 & 7, there have still been great individual eps, even if the arcs and overall tone haven't been as great.

    ReplyDelete
  120. People can have an opinion on when a show should end and still be a fan. As far as I know there isn't a set list of opinions you must adhere to be a "true fan". Because that would be a cult, not a fandom.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Some people have to work the same impossible hours for a small wage so I wouldn't feel too sorry for the J's.

They do work hard to make a good show but they also get good money for it; which they absolutely deserve, of course. :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. If they can improve over the last two years then I say let it go on. First off, the season arcs need to be better handled, and the answer isn't (as proven by the disaster of this season) returning to pure motw cases. That was great in season one because we were just getting to know Sam and Dean and the motw stuff kinda helped to expose their characters. But we're in the seventh season. We know them already. We need better season long arcs with bad guys that are actually scary and set goals that Sam and Dean are trying to accomplish other than "run, hide, kill inconsequential stuff while doing that". It just doesn't work anymore.

Also the tone of the show needs a little lift. Look I get that it's a dark emo show. But they've gone too far.  They've made the show so sad and angsty that it's no longer believable that Sam and Dean don't just strap themselves into the Impala and Thelma and Louise themselves off a cliff. For one thing they need to stop killing off every single other character that the boys love (Bobby, Cas, Ellen, Jo, etc.) The show can no longer do the only brothers thing, again as proved by this season. It's too sad. They need a little surrogate family. Bring back Cas. Maybe write in some new characters that recur, especially someone for Sam to interact with and gain support from. And just to head it off, yes Cas haters I've registered your opinion (ad nauseam). I don't care.

Also they have to stop a lot of the boys angsting at and about each other. Some is ok. But I feel like after 8 years of living with each other in motel rooms and cars, two rational people would achieve a certain amount of zen acceptance about the other person's character flaws. Yes Sam is secretive and hides stuff sometimes. Dean is a belligerent control freak with Daddy issues. We know. Now just let them be brothers who actually like each other even though they piss each other off occasionally. Show them actually having fun together. Laughing, smiling. Finding common ground. Kicking ass and saving people and actually enjoying it. Also maybe a little less Dean drinking himself to death.

If they did all this, then the show could stick around another 2 or 3 seasons (although I do feel like 10 seasons is the absolute stopping point for any show).

    ReplyDelete
  123. My question after everything you said is:You didn't like Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things??
    : P

    ReplyDelete
  124. nah i think they should head for S10

    ReplyDelete
  125. Yes please!  The show has gone drastically downhill since Season 5 ended, few good episodes here and there but nowhere near as good as it once was.  Write a good final story arc and wrap the show up for good, think that would be the best resolution.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Although S7 hasn't been my favorite, SPN is still one of the best shows out there and I would love nothing more than for it to get 10 seasons.  So few shows manage that and at a quality level.  The main thing I"m hoping for in S8 is a little more Sam-Dean focus (I miss those great brother moments - they've been few and far between this year) and a little less Guest Star focus.

    Bring on S8!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Last year I would have said, "Hell no!," but this year there have been a few times that I thought season 7 should be its last.  So I voted "not sure."

On the side of keep it around -

I don't buy that shows necessarily have to expire at a certain date.  Some have done a great job at continually reinventing itself, and I believe there's so much more to SPN than the Apocalypse arc, so in theory it shouldn't be that hard to write a new chapter.  Also, the show has a great cast, not just the J's, but Misha, Jim, the Marks, etc.  It would be fun just watching the characters hang out at a bus station.

    The buts -
I felt like the quality this year was not just dipping, but free-falling.  I think to keep going it needs to do the following things:

    - Go back to writing two emotional points of view for the brothers.  A sibling relationship is special not because siblings usually have a lot of touchy feely moments, but because they know each other better than anyone else in the world and they challenge each other.  They're the ones who can tell you things that no one else will dare, but they're the ones that you know you will never lose (except in death), because you can't choose family.  The brotherly moments are more than Impala moments.  They come from clashing on points of view, knowing each other better than anyone else in the world, and working off each other's strengths.  You can't have a brotherly relationship if the writers are only writing for one brother.

    - Bring the creativity back.  The show has become too formulaic, both with the season-long arcs and the structure of the MOTW cases.  Start mixing things up with less emphasis on the ridiculous and more on a creative approach.  For example, a different approach a MOTW case could be Sam and Dean hanging out at a bar that gets attacked by an army of shapeshifters hunting down Sam and Dean, with all of the regular barflies becoming characters of the week.

    -  Bring back consistency.  The irregular writing of Sam and Dean, as well as the inconsistency in the details, have gotten too hard to ignore.

    - Pump up the suspense and action.  The show has gotten too sleepy.  It's still gory, but it's sleepy.  We need to care about what's going on again.  That could be done through making some episodes more scarey, or through developing an arc that captures our attention and keeps us guessing what's next - but it needs something. I vote for introducing more reoccurring characters that the boys grow to care about.

If JC can do all this, then I say keep it coming, so I'm waiting to make my decision on this until we're halfway through the next season.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Ugh, no!  Most of the time I skip that one even though I am slightly OCD about watching everything in order.  I found the plot to be dumb and the guest character to be the single most whiny, angsty character I've had the misfortune to see on TV.  She was worse than Lori on Hook Man and that was hard to top.  She would be the most annoying one-shot character but that prize still goes to Missouri for me.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Now I kinda feel like people are just voting for more seasons for the sake of it so it can match Smallville's 10 seasons, the show doesn't even really feel like Supernatural anymore, everything is the same on it, every demon is just hidden in a human body, the angels thing lasted far too long.

For me they'll never top Season 3, thats been by far my favourite season. I know a lot of people really want new episodes but just wanting that isn't going to make the show better, I get that they're changing showrunners again but they'll never be able to give us what the first few seasons did.

    ReplyDelete
  130. As much as I love SPN and would love for it to go on forever, I also would love for it to end soon. I love series finales, and I love when shows are finally over; not because I don't love the show, but because I like when I finally get closure.
    I'm torn. :/

    ReplyDelete
  131. The show has the potential to keep going strong they just need a more emotional drive to keep the show going strong.
Seasons one and two and vengeance and revenge season 3 had desperation and wanting to see what happens when Dean dies season 4 and 5 added whole new mythology which kept it interesting.
Give them an emotional drive to defeat the antagonists of the season and you are gold to get to season 10 then you have to show the world literally on the brink of cracking in two because you have to top the apocalypse.
Its an amazing show because nothing is out of the ordinary and they can be very creative in the villains they don't necessarily have to be angels demons or monsters. Thats my two cents anyway.
PS. It might be kind of Fringe-y but they could easily have a season taking place in another time or universe.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Well of course I want Supernatural to go on forever but we can't have that now can we? So I think it would be very interesting to have the 9th season so they can end it in 2014 like In The End is season 5 and see how it goes but then again I think people will get bored of angels and Lucifer so they can like have it 2014 the end with monsters and demons instead of angels and the devil ? I don't know but I just don't want it to end but I think Jared and Jensen deserve a little break from it especially now that Jared has Thomas but again SPN is like their second family and also ours. I say that season 8 will be a pre-season before the last so they can really heat it up and then explode it in season 9 :)

    ReplyDelete
  133. I think it has many more in it and I personally don´t want to have alast one announced beforee I like to go in thinking there is a possibility for another year of stories after the current, and the writers always do their best to make each season great knowing it could  end, they are not going to do anything different if they know aside form not doing a cliffhanger but by the time th final isfilmed they always know whether they are coming back even if unofficially. It´s not like there is one biig arc that is being dragged out that spans back to the beginning, yellow eyes was already killed in 2 because they were afraid they woudln´t have much longer.I also don´t get why people want a show to end, if I don´t like one anymore I just stop watching.Once it´s over it´sover and then rewatching will  get older pretty fast and even faster teh fewer seasons there a to rewatch.

  134. I voted that I want more seasons, but Jeremy Carver has a lot of things to repair if TPTB really want more seasons. The show really needs to go back to its roots. They've been promising that since season 6, but they still haven't done it... The Js want the show to get back to its roots...
In the last episodes Sam and Dean were secondary characters in their own show. I've seen lots of complaints on twitter and several forums about that and the ratings prove that the fans got tired of special guest stars... The focus needs to come back to the brothers and their bond. Impala needs to be back as a main character. And if they want to bring some special guest stars, I'm all in, as long as their story is going to be supporting to Sam and Dean's story and not the center of the episode...

    ReplyDelete
  135. I really don't know if i'm happy or not with SPN renovation for a season 8. I think the best seasons of the show were the first 3, with the show focused in the brothers relationship and the magic of it. Since season 4, the "magic" between the brothers got lost. Season 5 was not bad. Season 6 was much better than this current season. At least we got some action with the Soulless Sam storyline and Jared did an excelent job. This current season (7), is being the worst because Sam and Dean seem like "zombies" = They kind of ruined the sibling relationship, that has no "light". There are no dialogues, no brotherly moments anymore, at least not in the same way we were used to in the previous seasons. SPN writers seem a little bit lost in telling their story. Sam's storyline this season was the worst ever written, with the hallucinations introduced in the beginning of the season (7x01 and 7x02) being completed two episodes later on the season (7x16 and 7x17). Also, the fact that SG will be replaced by JC and the fact that JC is a "Destiel" fan, left me with no hopes at all to see the angel storyline over. It's always the same thing, over and over again. The show has no fresh air anymore. The show started with Sam and Dean, now we have Sam and Dean and Castiel and Dean and Castiel. ( Sorry, who is Sam? Oh, right, Dean's brother, poor guy, does Sam has an ally(ies) or/and a friend(s) also to himself? Exactly, No, because SPN has 2 main characters but the show is only told and perceived through one character POV) Seems like is only Dean who deserves to be loved in this show (Jo, Ellen, Bobby who refered Dean has his favorite in season 6, Pamela, Castiel the list goes on) - and maybe knowing that SAMULET will never be back and that Destiel relationship will have a higher or the same importance than the brotherly relationship is something that i'm really not interested to watch. Oh btw, after 7 seasons, do we know Sam's favorite song? Sam's favorite book, movie? No, but we all know the TWO Dean's favorite songs. As i said, the show will be told as usual in Dean's POV and probably with JC on the show, through Castiel as well, Sam storyline will be told and dealed in the same umbalanced way. I never had nothing against SG - i think she wrote some good episodes  - but i'm not happy or sad with her departure and her replacement by JC. It's indifferent to me, because i'm a little bit skeptical that this issues will improve...

  136. I want SPN to go out with a BANG and not a whimper. I want it to be ambiguous so that the fandom can argue forever until the end of time about what the hell it all meant. I will miss Jared and Jensen but I feel like they need to move on and do something different for the sake of their careers and family. If season 8 is amazing I will eat these words but the story is getting stale and the writers seemed to be lost. Unless Eric K, comes back and fixes some things, I just can't co-sign the idea of a season 9.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I have always believed that season 5 was the peak in my opinion. It should have ended then, but I understand the people wanted more, but let it end.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I'm not sure,it really depends on if Jeremy Carver brings it. Sera and Roberts direction just hasn't done it for me. I HATE NOT having an arc or direction. I'm tired of the focus NOT being on the boys. Supernatural is THEIR story, and support characters should support THAT story. I'm tired of Cas being around and NOT having any purpose. He doesn't add anything to Sam and Dean's story. We were promised a NEW story, yet we got this character that keeps coming back and taking away the story from Sam and Dean. I'm also tired of the writers going for the cheap ass jokes, instead of ACTUALLY telling a STORY. The storytelling just isnt there anymore like it was. I think Carver has a LOT of work to create an arc and story that will keep fans WANTING more, and not just more disappointed.

Since the last 2 seasons of the show have started to go downhill, I will have to see how season 8 goes to determine if I will stick around for more seasons. It started out as one of the most original shows on tv, but has declined in the last few years due to poor story arcs and too much interference from the angels. They will need to get back to the feel of the first 3 seasons to keep my interest, and they need to go back to the story of the brothers with no sidekick angel.

  140. After watching the latest episode, I'm suddenly looking forward to Season 8. If Season 8 passes the test, I say have more.

  141. Their numbers say that they had at least 2.5 million of viewers before season 6 and now they barely reach 1.5, that was my point, The CW is going down the toilet and instead of looking for new products, they stick with these shows that were good in their moment, but that now are so old that become in repetitive and boring garbage, that not even with the good performance of their actors can be passable.

  143. If the storyline is good then yes more seasons, but Season 7 wasn't all that good. They need to go back to just hunting demons, leaving the angels stuff out of it. Maybe find a way to bring more hunters like vampire slayers hehe
