GG (for 13 final episodes), Hart of Dixie, and a final full season of Nikita. If The CW picked up The Selection to series I think it would bomb so Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, and Nikita are the best of a bad situation.
Why would The Selection bomb? I read the Pilot script (which was amazing) AND the book (which was also amazing). I think The CW is making a mistake if it doesn't pick it up. It was the only new show I was looking forward to for next fall. Besides, GG is most likely only going to get a 13 episode final season...so it shouldn't even be in this poll.
Personally as a business decision: The Selection: cash in on Hunger Games Gossip Girl : special short final season for network's brand show and either Nikita and Hart of Dixie depending of whether i want a medical night with first Cut and how good Nikita's international numbers are
I voted Gossip Girl, The Selection and Hart Of Dixie
With Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, First Cut, Beauty and the Beast, Cult all joining the schedule along with the already renewed Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, 90210 and America Next Top Model
Monday8-The Carrie Diaries 9-Gossip Girl/Hart of Dixie
Tuesday 8-First Cut 9-90210
Wednesday 8-Americas Next Top Model/Cult 9-Beauty and the Beast
The Secret Circle suffered because they didn't make it ENOUGH like the book. They made too many weird changes and then killed Nick off. The show just isn't very interesting...and there's no real OTP to root for.
I really wish The CW would just reduce the episodes for a few of their shows. Do 13 to 16 episodes of 90210 and Hart of Dixie, which would premiere in January/February. Do one cycle of Top Model in the fall. After Gossip Girl and Top Model ends in the fall, replace them with 90210 and Hart of Dixie. GG/90210 is paired with The Carrie Diaries, Top Model/Hart with First Cut. Move Nikita to Wednesday with Arrow. Beauty and the Beast on Thursday after TVD. Maybe do 13 episodes of TSC or The Selection on Friday in the fall with Supernatural, then replace it with Cult?So they'd have shows constantly on the air. Meaning less breaks. And there'd be a new series on every night. Most shows would be paired with what makes sense to pair them with, not what might help them get better rating. Ringer, for example, even though it had SMG, it was still paired with the wrong show. Hart of Dixie also wasn't paired with a show that made little sense to pair it with. Same for Nikita and Supernatural. None of them really make sense together. Whereas, Nikita and Arrow, would make sense. Same with Cult and SPN.
What they're doing right now doesn't seem to be working for them. So they need to take some risk. Try something new. And a huge schedule shake-up is a risk they should think about. They're never going to be "the big four." So they should stop trying to be.
NIKITA: DEFINITELY! Hart of Dixie: only because it seems to have slight potential(13 episodes only). Gossip Girl: CW's veteran deserves a send-off(8-13 episodes)
The Selection sounds too boring. and CW should cut their losses with RINGER and THE SECRET CIRCLE.
I would not pick up 3 of them honestly.... just one. Hart of Dixie maybe and Gossip Girl if they feel they want to hold on to their old demo as they try to revamp their image to a more mature audience. I never liked the show, but it obviously has a strong following of passionate fans...
The Secret Circle and Ringer are just bad on multiple levels so I would not pick them up and Nikita is already going in circles and it is only at the end of its second season.
Nice schedule buti have a feeling Arrow will be given the VD lead in and Hart will be paired with First Cut if picked up for a medical night perhaps and i assume say 4 shows for fall 2 midseason so maybe keep the selection or beauty and the beast for midseason with Cult
The Secret Circle didn't work because the writers couldn't streamline the direction of the show and improve the writing before the viewers left. It had nothing to do with killing Nick or any 'shipper nonsense.
Arrow has the most buzz therefore is likely to be paired with TVD for obvious reasons. I just like the idea of SPN having a new show with potential in front of it. It could work in SPN's favour.
I actually thought they might try a half season for both Cult and Beauty and the Beast.
Monday 8-First Cut 9-Hart Of Dixie
Tuesday 8-The Carrie Diaries 9-90210
Wednesday 8-Americas Next Top Model/Cult 9-Gossip Girl/Beauty and the Beast

CW isn't isn't "thanking its stars" for Supernatural. They're most likely saying "it'll have to do for now."
I have to believe Hart of Dixie would benefit from being paired with any show besides Gossip Girl. It's miraculous that HoD's ratings were able to level off whilst having the misfortune of the network's worst lead-in.
I actually think one of the bubble shows either Nikita or TSC are more likely to make the Friday 8pm slot over The Selection but I would prefer if SPN were given a stronger lead in and the CW actually took a risk.
I'm not sure a new hit in front of SPN would work in its favor very much and likewise I'm not sure a bomb of a series will work against SPN very much.
At this point of its life Supernatural has a loyal and passionate fan base that just will not grow very much in my opinion. No matter what series is in front of it. By the same token, I don't think its audience will slip if it has a low rated show paired with it...
i think TSC and Ringer are already dead at this point and Gossip Girl will get a final season The Selection could either replace Hart of Dixie or Nikita or not be picked up
Gossip Girl: for a final 13-episode season Hart of Dixie: because it is a show that speaks to the young demographic of this network and has the potential to become bigger and better Nikita: second season got so good after a mediocre first season
I really believe that the CW is not going to pick its line-up by only looking at its numbers, because the CW ratings are nothing compared to the ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC ratings, and therefore a loyal fanbase and international profit gets more attention when it comes to the decision.
Actually I don't see Hart Of Dixie surviving if they want to order First Cut? Two medical dramas? Nah. Anyway I will be less mad if The Selection replaces TSC because that the one I'm really looking forward to.
I honestly don't see Hart of Dixie becoming bigger than Team Wade and Team George, honestly. It is what it is and it won't change, just like Gossip Girl.
See thats what I thought too, I didnt see them keeping HOD and picking up First Cut but lots of others are saying they'd probably keep both to pair together so I just went with it. I think you're probably right though.
Yeah the Team Wade/Team George is big right now, but next week George is marrying Lemon (most probably) and I think next year there will be something new. Don't forget that a large part of TVD is also Team Stefan/Team Damon, practically from the start. And don't forget, Chair, Dair, and whatever else you can think of.
The thing that it has that sets it apart from Gossip Girl is the small town charm, while the storylines might not always be as solid (not saying GG has the best writing ever), it does have this funny side to it where these weird characters like Tom and Shelly and even Lemon (wow that girl can be really dumb at times) interact and all know each other. GG is drama, Hart of Dixie comedy drama, which this network can use a little bit more of, laughing and some light entertainment.
Hart of Dixie might be a story about a doctor moving to Alabama, and yes of course you see Zoe as a GP having patients and wearing a stethoscope, but it is hardly Grey's Anatomy...
Secret circles ratings overall for the season are way better then nakita or hod. I hope they renew it, its got a lot of potential. And I love the acting and storylines. For a supernatural drama I think it kicks ass. When. Will we find out for sure who's staying and who's going. I can't wait to see the ratings for the secret circle finale. I have a feeling there gunna jump 1.1 1.2
Yeah maybe but they don't have that many shows, and I think they would benefit more from a show like Cult or The Selection than from another medical drama
The Selection doesn't particularly excite me, but between Gossip Girl, Heart of Dixie, and Secret Circle it was all I was left with. I thought Cult was in development at the CW. I'd pick that before The Selection
I like Ringer but no way In hell Is it coming back especilly with SMG being pregnent. From remaining shows with Vampire Diaires renewed I only care about Nikita.
I say this and I mean this sincerely- as a film student I watch this show and am continually impressed with the setting, dialogue, script, concept and vibe. It constantly leaves me with that wonderful feeling of suspence, surprise and eagerness to see the next episode so I can find out what happens. The idea that they wouldn't give a show of this caliber a season 2 is shocking to me. And I sincerely say that if this show does not get a season 2 I am giving up on maintaining shows. It's like if someone shut off the lord of the rings trilogy right in the middle of viewing it. And I hate that this keeps happening. Elton John once said that he is thankful he was given the time to develop himself into the artist he is today and that they didn't shut him down after his 1st album. These day they would have and the would wouldn't have the genius that he is. Shutting down the secret circle is like staking Buffy the Vapire Slayer after season 1. It's like vanquishing Charmed after Season 1. Give them time and you will see what so many of us see- not only a hit- not only a goldmine - but one of those phinominal shows that only comes around once in a blue moon. Give it a season 2 and you will see- the fans know what were talking about. @Alexa_Rush22
So I voted by a completelly personal preference POV: Hart Of Dixie, Nikita and Ringer. Realistically I'm waaaaaay off and I know it....
How I believe it will ACTUALLY go down: - Hart of Dixie is almost a shoe in renewal. - GG will get a shortened final season. - The Selection will most likely get picked up. - (I also have some hope that Nikita might somehow make it on the schedule. It's a long shot but I honestly don't think it's out of the question.)
Lastly I'm aware that both Ringer and TSC are as good as dead. However as indicated above I would love for Ringer to get a second chance as unlikely as that might be... TSC never managed to grab me so I have no strong feelings about that one either way.....
I wish CW didn't have to break our hearts with cancelling a show but if I'm picking only one - I really want Hart of Dixie to get another season.
I don't think the network gave it anywhere near as much support as the other shows and yet - here it is in competition with incredibly well promoted shows. It's definitely the underdog but its such a great show to have gotten hooked on. I love that its got this - 'we're all just weirdo's' factor about it mixed with great chemistry and a bit of sexiness. Wilson Bethel alone is enough of a reason to tune in! ;D
It'll kill me if it gets cancelled but I know its target audience isn't typical CW so it's very likely.
Monday8-Hart of Dixie9-Gossip Girl Tuesday8-The Carrie Diaries9-90210 Wednesday8-Americas Next Top Model/Cult9-Beauty and the Beast Thursday8-The Vampire Diaries9-The Secret Circle Friday8-Arrow9-Supernatural I would like a schedule like this!!!! The Secret Circle needs to be given another chance the story lines are getting so much better and I have a feeling that next season the ratings would pick up and it would become worthy of it's thursday night spot!!!!
My choices are Gossip Girl for 13 episodes so that the story lines can be wrapped up in a satisfying way for long time viewers, Heart of Dixie (I don't watch but I've heard good things about it) and The Selection sounds interesting (very Hunger Games esque so if it was done right it could have a good initial fanbase).
I love the idea of them shortening seasons though.
chose the selection coz it sounds interesting. a little bit similar to the hunger games but i loved the hunger games so that not really a bad thing. i don't care much for any of the other shows so that was the only one i voted for
You know, The CW should open their schedule for a Sunday night (always wondered why they didn't/don't/won't). Anyway I totally want a FINAL season for GG, give Ringer a little more time (maybe only 13 episodes and if ratings are good give it a back order) and as much as I love Nikita, I am kind of over it. It got a pass last season and has been floundering, so make room for some fresh blood.
Why are these the only choices we have? Arrow will definitely premiere on the CW next year and it is likely at least one other new show will too. This seems far too limited to be a "make the final CW scheduling decision."
Agreed. As much as I would like to think Supernatural is saving the CW, it is not. 0.8 and 0.7 is not spectacular and if they are going to save the netlet, these demos are going to have to be the low end of what is renewed, not the high.
I think The Selection will be on the roster for next year, second to Arrow in attention it receives. It is of course possible that the Selection would bomb but I think that is more because everything new on the CW bombs. Here's hoping that the tide will change and the CW will have some buzz-worthy new dramas this year.
In all fairness, to many the Vampire Diaries sounded like a Twilight rip-off and it did very well. Oh and before people start throwing things at me, I know VD is NOT like Twilight. Unfortunately, The Selection does not sound like it will be much like the Hunger Games either, to its detriment.
I think they have a chance to make The Selection work IF they know what audience they are catering too. If they want the Hunger Games audience to fall in, they are going to have to start it with action right away and make the small subplot of the book into the main point of the TV show. Since that does not sound like it will happen, they need to market it to the romance crowd and really sell its shipper-worthy moments. So while I am rooting for the Hunger Games-esque Selection chances are this show will only get 3 episodes out of me before I quit it for the ghastly love triangle that is sure to pop up sooner rather than later.
The Secret Circle failed because they failed to make any of the characters important to the audience right away and it had a very slow plot with almost no action in it. If the Selection wants to succeed, it had better make America instantly relatable because it sounds like the action will be negligible in it. They do not have time to set up the dystopian world. They need to get right to why we should care about America.
this takes into consideration the variety article saying Cult,Arrow, Carrie,Beauty and First Cut are sure things and the only ? left is the fate of the selection and wheather the CW will pick it up as a 6th new show
The CW is struggling to get a schedule that can sustain them M-F as it is. No way adding the budget of Sunday shows would help them stay alive. Plus they would have to fight the affiliates to get that night back and quite frankly with the ratings they have, they need to do everything they can to placate the affiliates. The CW would have to make vast improvements in ratings, surpassing those at NBC at least, to even have a snowball's chance of adding Sunday to their schedule. I for one am very glad they don't have Sundays because the promotion budgets are stretched thin enough with marketing 10 shows a week. To try to do the same for 12 shows would essentially turn most shows into "here are some flyers to post; I hope someone remembers this show is on" levels. Hard to think some shows' promotion could be worse than it is now but that is what would happen if Sundays happen.
My fake schedule doesn't have room for First Cut as anything more than schedule spackle but that's probably more wishful thinking on my part than reality.
Monday - Carrie Diaries / 90210 -Carrie Diaries would go better with GG, but since GG will definitely not go beyond next year I think they will try to get Carrie Diaries to raise 90210's ratings.
Tuesday - Beauty and the Beast / Gossip Girl in fall and Hart of Dixie in winter -If Tuesday at 8:00 really is a cursed spot, then the best thing to spackle it with are 2 shows that don't have much hope of going forward anyway. Some former GG fans will come to see the end and ratings normally rise during "final season" announcements. In short, the CW can't do much worse than this year in this spot so use it to burn off the pleasing-the-fans renewal excess.
Wednesday - America's Next Top Model in fall and new reality show in winter / The Selection in fall and Cult in winter -I do not see the CW forgoing another attempt at reality TV this year. It is far too cheap and there is a possibility that one of the summer reality shows really takes off. Cult seems more like a winter show to me where its ratings would not have to be as high to be renewable. Since this is Mark Pedowitz's baby, I think it will receive special promotion treatment that will be easier in the winter also since it would not have to compete with a lot of new shows. If the Selection did well in the fall, it could be bumped to the earlier time in place of the reality show, which could then go to summer fare.
Thursday - Vampire Diaries / Arrow -Safest bet of anything on the CW next year. Arrow is the most buzzed about show and therefore will get the best placement.
Friday - The Secret Circle / Supernatural -Yes, it could be Nikita but I'm betting TSC gets the nod over Nikita where it will promptly die in season 2. Supernatural ratings are not dependent on anything so the CW can put another fan-pleasing renewal in this burn off position too. If ratings die too quickly, then it is game show or reality time in this slot.
Nikita is the CW's worst lead-in, but I don't think Hart of Dixie will follow GG next year. I see GG premiering in the fall and Hart of Dixie taking its spot in the winter.
Mark Pedowitz definitely wants to see less reruns on the schedule next year given the disastrous results when CW shows come back from hiatus. I could see them doing more shortened seasons but then add more reality and game shows to patch the holes, particularly if the summer season isn't a complete disaster. I'm also wondering if they won't try to get a couple of comedies ready for late in the season just to cut the repeat time down.
Knowing your audience is all well and good but the writing has to be right there with it. There needs to be a plan in place. That's where The Secret Circle failed. For half a season, the show completely lacked direction. TSC was full of false starts, dead ends, and horribly dull subplots. Moreover, some characters were ignored or disappeared for weeks at a time. The show was a mess until March and most of the audience left by then.
Despite the Hunger Games similarities, a show like The Selection is a big risk which makes it all the more important that all aspects of the show hit the ground running from the get-go. From what I've been reading, screenings of the Selection pilot are getting mixed reviews at best. If a show with obvious pop culture cash-in appeal like The Selection isn't getting the CW brass excited after screening it, you KNOW the pilot has to have some serious flaws because a project like this should be a no-brainer.
Only for the last three to four weeks or so and Friday viewership is treated differently than other nights so I still consider Gossip Girl to be the worst.
I was curious so I went back to check the demo ratings. In the 13 weeks that both GG and Nikita were new, GG beat Nikita's demos by one or two tenths for 9 of those weeks. It tied demos 4 times. This isn't a recent phenomenon as it started from week one. I also question the Friday factor for the CW. While that applies to networks for sure, the CW netlet has its second highest show on Friday.
I agree that TSC has gotten a lot better since Christmas and they would probably have and even better season 2, but I also think they are gonna put Arrow after TVD, since they've been saying since Smallville last season that they wanted another superhero show!
"Second highest" isn't really a big accomplishment on The CW this year. SPN works on Friday because it has a moderate but unwavering fanbase who will watch the show whenever the network chooses to air it. The Friday factor still applies to a show like Nikita, especially when you compare its performance from last season on its old night to this season on Fridays.
Coincidentally, I am having this same discussion on another website. Nikita ended last season with a 1.94 in viewers and a 0.7 in demo. This season Nikita premiered with 1.85 viewers and 0.6 demo, definitely not a bad drop for moving to Friday. Plus, it actually started its ratings free fall last year after the 14th episode. In fact, it has a very similar trajectory as TSC now. Nikita went from a 1.0 to a 0.7 in seven weeks at the end of its run. TSC went from a 0.8 to a 0.5 in the last seven weeks.
Overall the CW has averaged a loss of 523,000 viewers and .28 in demo this season. I attribute most of Nikita's losses to the general downtrend of the CW as a whole.
I think The L.A. Complex and the second cycle of America's Next Top Model should be saved for the summer. And worst case, if one of their new series flops so badly that they don't give it as full season, they can put Top Model or L.A. Complex on early.
I think they should definitely look at some of the other Warner Bros. produced pilots that don't get picked up. If 666 Park Ave. doesn't get picked up bu ABC, I could see it working well on The CW. CBS' Super Fun Night seems like it'd also work on The CW. Pedowitz mentioned how New Girl or 2 Broke Girls would fit their brand. Super Fun Night sounds like it's in that area as well. I don't know the status of either, but if they don't get picked up, they'd fit The CW much better than Ringer did.
The SC has a divergent cast and appeals on many different levels. It deals with trying to do right with the worst possible choices. Also it's a great mystery!
Personally I would keep Ringer because it's the only CW show I watch besides Supernatural. I would also move it's time slot. Did they really think it was going to do well up against NCIS:LA?
Yes, and in the opinion of every major critic out there, Nikita is a fantastic show. There are nowhere near as many rave, or even good, reviews for the other CW bubble shows. You're welcome to check this out: http://ow.ly/i/BYuh/original
Also, a 0.4 in the demo on Friday is no worse than 0.5 or 0.6 on a weekday, which is what HoD, Ringer, GG and TSC have been getting. I have a hard time seeing any of these shows doing better than Nikita on Friday.
The only show on here I watch is Hart of Dixie. I'll give The Selection a watch if it gets picked up, it could be interesting... I hadn't heard of the books until I was reading the comments below.
Personally as a business decision: The Selection: cash in on Hunger Games Gossip Girl : special short final season for network's brand show and either Nikita and Hart of Dixie depending of whether i want a medical night with first Cut and how good Nikita's international numbers are
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
NIKITA! It's the only one I watch!
ReplyDeleteEeesh, none of them. The CW must be thanking its stars that it has Supernatural...
ReplyDeleteGossip Girl, Nikita and Secret Circle
ReplyDeleteGG (for 13 final episodes), Hart of Dixie, and a final full season of Nikita. If The CW picked up The Selection to series I think it would bomb so Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, and Nikita are the best of a bad situation.

It sounds like a Hunger Games rip-off.
ReplyDeleteIf The CW can't get a bread and butter show like The Secret Circle to work, there's no way a more abstract dystopian future premise is going to fly.
ReplyDeleteIt's NOTHING like The Hunger Games, except it dystopian. Do you realize how many different dystopian books/movies there are out there?

ReplyDeleteNot really -- I've seen at least 5 episodes of all those series (except Hart of Dixie), and SPN (even the newer seasons) are infinitely better.

ReplyDeleteThe thing that it has that sets it apart from Gossip Girl is the small town charm, while the storylines might not always be as solid (not saying GG has the best writing ever), it does have this funny side to it where these weird characters like Tom and Shelly and even Lemon (wow that girl can be really dumb at times) interact and all know each other. GG is drama, Hart of Dixie comedy drama, which this network can use a little bit more of, laughing and some light entertainment.
None of them appeal to me. The Selection sounds like the Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie might be a story about a doctor moving to Alabama, and yes of course you see Zoe as a GP having patients and wearing a stethoscope, but it is hardly Grey's Anatomy...
ReplyDeleteTHURSDAY FINALS
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle adjusted down to a 0.5 and 1.23 million viewers
which means.....
GG, 90210 and HOD all beat it. Hmmmmm........
Nikita, Hart of Dixie and The Selection. GG is gonna get renewed either way, so I guess that TSC and Ringer will get axed.
ReplyDeleteNikita. Not much good ever comes out of The CW. I may even watch it,but I am fully aware of how much it sucks.
ReplyDeleteNikita & The Secret Circle
ReplyDeleteSecret circles ratings overall for the season are way better then nakita or hod.
ReplyDeleteYeah maybe but they don't have that many shows, and I think they would benefit more from a show like Cult or The Selection than from another medical drama
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle!!
ReplyDeleteHOD really isn't a medical drama
ReplyDeleteGossip Girl, Nikita, and The Secret Circle
ReplyDeleteNikita, Ringer and The Selection
ReplyDeleteThe Selection doesn't particularly excite me, but between Gossip Girl, Heart of Dixie, and Secret Circle it was all I was left with. I thought Cult was in development at the CW. I'd pick that before The Selection
I like Ringer but no way In hell Is it coming back especilly with SMG being pregnent. From remaining shows with Vampire Diaires renewed I only care about Nikita.
ReplyDeleteI say this and I mean this sincerely- as a film student I watch this show and am continually impressed with the setting, dialogue, script, concept and vibe.
ReplyDeleteElton John once said that he is thankful he was given the time to develop himself into the artist he is today and that they didn't shut him down after his 1st album.
@Alexa_Rush22
Nikita! Only show on there I watch!
ReplyDeleteWhy would they put a new show on Friday? The risk is really high as not much shows can survive on Fridays, especially 1st season ones.
ReplyDeleteSo I voted by a completelly personal preference POV: Hart Of Dixie, Nikita and Ringer.
ReplyDeleteRealistically I'm waaaaaay off and I know it....
How I believe it will ACTUALLY go down:
- Hart of Dixie is almost a shoe in renewal.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the network gave it anywhere near as much support as the other shows and yet - here it is in competition with incredibly well promoted shows.
Monday8-Hart of Dixie9-Gossip Girl
ReplyDeleteTuesday8-The Carrie Diaries9-90210
Wednesday8-Americas Next Top Model/Cult9-Beauty and the Beast
Thursday8-The Vampire Diaries9-The Secret Circle
Friday8-Arrow9-Supernatural
I would like a schedule like this!!!!
The Secret Circle needs to be given another chance the story lines are getting so much better and I have a feeling that next season the ratings would pick up and it would become worthy of it's thursday night spot!!!!
GOSSIP GIRL
ReplyDeleteMy choices are Gossip Girl for 13 episodes so that the story lines can be wrapped up in a satisfying way for long time viewers, Heart of Dixie (I don't watch but I've heard good things about it) and The Selection sounds interesting (very Hunger Games esque so if it was done right it could have a good initial fanbase).
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of them shortening seasons though.
chose the selection coz it sounds interesting. a little bit similar to the hunger games but i loved the hunger games so that not really a bad thing.
ReplyDeletei don't care much for any of the other shows so that was the only one i voted for
Nikita, Secret Circle and a final season for Gossip Girl
ReplyDeleteGG,Nikita and Ringer... I like TSC, but I like Ringer more... xD
ReplyDeleteGossip Girl, The Secret Circle and The Selection
ReplyDeleteAmen to that. I voted but the only one on the list I half way watch is Hart of Dixie. Supernatural is the only show of interest to me.
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle leading the poll makes me so happy!
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle is winning the poll yay!
ReplyDeleteThey would probably move Arrow after TVD and move TSC at 8p before SPN if they did keep TSC
ReplyDeleteYou know, The CW should open their schedule for a Sunday night (always wondered why they didn't/don't/won't). Anyway I totally want a FINAL season for GG, give Ringer a little more time (maybe only 13 episodes and if ratings are good give it a back order) and as much as I love Nikita, I am kind of over it. It got a pass last season and has been floundering, so make room for some fresh blood.
ReplyDeleteActually they are saying "thank our lucky stars for Netflix."
ReplyDeleteWhy are these the only choices we have? Arrow will definitely premiere on the CW next year and it is likely at least one other new show will too. This seems far too limited to be a "make the final CW scheduling decision."
ReplyDeleteAgreed. As much as I would like to think Supernatural is saving the CW, it is not. 0.8 and 0.7 is not spectacular and if they are going to save the netlet, these demos are going to have to be the low end of what is renewed, not the high.
ReplyDeleteI think The Selection will be on the roster for next year, second to Arrow in attention it receives. It is of course possible that the Selection would bomb but I think that is more because everything new on the CW bombs. Here's hoping that the tide will change and the CW will have some buzz-worthy new dramas this year.
ReplyDeleteIn all fairness, to many the Vampire Diaries sounded like a Twilight rip-off and it did very well. Oh and before people start throwing things at me, I know VD is NOT like Twilight. Unfortunately, The Selection does not sound like it will be much like the Hunger Games either, to its detriment.
ReplyDeleteI think they have a chance to make The Selection work IF they know what audience they are catering too.
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle failed because they failed to make any of the characters important to the audience right away and it had a very slow plot with almost no action in it. If the Selection wants to succeed, it had better make America instantly relatable because it sounds like the action will be negligible in it. They do not have time to set up the dystopian world. They need to get right to why we should care about America.
ReplyDeletethis takes into consideration the variety article saying Cult,Arrow, Carrie,Beauty and First Cut are sure things and the only ? left is the fate of the selection and wheather the CW will pick it up as a 6th new show
ReplyDeleteAh thank you. That makes a whole lot more sense.
ReplyDeleteThe CW is struggling to get a schedule that can sustain them M-F as it is.
ReplyDeleteMy fake schedule doesn't have room for First Cut as anything more than schedule spackle but that's probably more wishful thinking on my part than reality.
ReplyDeleteMonday - Carrie Diaries / 90210
-Carrie Diaries would go better with GG, but since GG will definitely not go beyond next year I think they will try to get Carrie Diaries to raise 90210's ratings.
Tuesday - Beauty and the Beast / Gossip Girl in fall and Hart of Dixie in winter
-If Tuesday at 8:00 really is a cursed spot, then the best thing to spackle it with are 2 shows that don't have much hope of going forward anyway. Some former GG fans will come to see the end and ratings normally rise during "final season" announcements. In short, the CW can't do much worse than this year in this spot so use it to burn off the pleasing-the-fans renewal excess.
Wednesday - America's Next Top Model in fall and new reality show in winter / The Selection in fall and Cult in winter
-I do not see the CW forgoing another attempt at reality TV this year.
Thursday - Vampire Diaries / Arrow
-Safest bet of anything on the CW next year. Arrow is the most buzzed about show and therefore will get the best placement.
Friday - The Secret Circle / Supernatural
-Yes, it could be Nikita but I'm betting TSC gets the nod over Nikita where it will promptly die in season 2.
ReplyDeleteMark Pedowitz definitely wants to see less reruns on the schedule next year given the disastrous results when CW shows come back from hiatus. I could see them doing more shortened seasons but then add more reality and game shows to patch the holes, particularly if the summer season isn't a complete disaster. I'm also wondering if they won't try to get a couple of comedies ready for late in the season just to cut the repeat time down.
ReplyDeleteKnowing your audience is all well and good but the writing has to be right there with it.
ReplyDeleteDespite the Hunger Games similarities, a show like The Selection is a big risk which makes it all the more important that all aspects of the show hit the ground running from the get-go.
"Nikita is the CW's worst lead-in"
ReplyDeleteOnly for the last three to four weeks or so and Friday viewership is treated differently than other nights so I still consider Gossip Girl to be the worst.
ReplyDeleteI agree that TSC has gotten a lot better since Christmas and they would probably have and even better season 2, but I also think they are gonna put Arrow after TVD, since they've been saying since Smallville last season that they wanted another superhero show!
ReplyDelete"Second highest" isn't really a big accomplishment on The CW this year. SPN works on Friday because it has a moderate but unwavering fanbase who will watch the show whenever the network chooses to air it. The Friday factor still applies to a show like Nikita, especially when you compare its performance from last season on its old night to this season on Fridays.
ReplyDeleteRINGER!!!Come on cw, one more seaon(10 episode order) !!!
ReplyDeleteCoincidentally, I am having this same discussion on another website.
ReplyDeleteOverall the CW has averaged a loss of 523,000 viewers and .28 in demo this season.
ReplyDeleteI think they should definitely look at some of the other Warner Bros. produced pilots that don't get picked up.
Nikita. I don't care for the rest. The CW is dead to me without Nikita.
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle,Hart of Dixie and The Selection (I'm curious about if they do a Hunger games copy or something original).
ReplyDeleteCW definetely has to save Nikita. The best show ever and It's just getting better week by week, so please.
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle season 2!! plsss~~
ReplyDeleteThe SC has a divergent cast and appeals on many different levels. It deals with trying to do right with the worst possible choices. Also it's a great mystery!
ReplyDeleteGoosip Girl, Hart of Dixie and Ringer
ReplyDeleteNikita, the only quality show on the CW at the moment. Cancel it and they will officially go down the drain as a crappy, teen-oriented network.
ReplyDeleteNIKITA fans should sign the petition to save it:
https://www.change.org/petitions/the-cw-television-network-renew-the-show-nikita-for-a-third-season
Quality is a matter of opinion.
ReplyDeleteRatings=Money and Money is what dictates the survival of a network.
There are less 18-49 year old ADULTS watching Nikita than any other show on the network.
Personally I would keep Ringer because it's the only CW show I watch besides Supernatural. I would also move it's time slot. Did they really think it was going to do well up against NCIS:LA?
ReplyDeleteClearly you haven't watched the last 5-6 eps of The Secret Circle. To say the show's been on a roll doesn't even begin to cover it.
ReplyDeleteTSC all the way
ReplyDeleteCADAM 4 eva
NIKITA DAMN IT NIKITA MUST WIN!!
ReplyDeletewhy the hell does ringer have so little vote, it is much better than nikita gossip girl
ReplyDeletenikita sucks, ringer and the secret circle is the only good shows on this list
ReplyDeletethen you got bad taste because nikita sucks, ringer and secret circle is the only good shows on this list
ReplyDeleteYes, and in the opinion of every major critic out there, Nikita is a fantastic show. There are nowhere near as many rave, or even good, reviews for the other CW bubble shows. You're welcome to check this out: http://ow.ly/i/BYuh/original
ReplyDeleteAlso, a 0.4 in the demo on Friday is no worse than 0.5 or 0.6 on a weekday, which is what HoD, Ringer, GG and TSC have been getting. I have a hard time seeing any of these shows doing better than Nikita on Friday.
The only show on here I watch is Hart of Dixie. I'll give The Selection a watch if it gets picked up, it could be interesting... I hadn't heard of the books until I was reading the comments below.
ReplyDeletesecret circle!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would of course pick SecretCircle. That is my next favorite CW show after 90210.
ReplyDeleteVoted Secret Circle, Nikita and The Selection
ReplyDeleteSave the secret circle plz!!!
ReplyDeleteSecret circle! It is amazing series!
ReplyDeleteTHE SECRET CIRCLE ALL THE WAY
ReplyDeleteQue Bom né!
ReplyDeleteThe Secret Circle tem que continuar, queremos segunda temporada.
Vamos lá The Secret Circle.
ReplyDeleteVocê conseguirá ter uma segunda temporada.

ReplyDeleteLets save the Secret Circle I love the show and would hate for it to end. Please keep voting!!!!
ReplyDeleteTHE SECRET CIRCLE. Please come back witchies! :)
ReplyDeleteClaro que queremos ! Mas parece que ja estamos feitos, so se um outro canal a compre :/ (desculpa, moro na França ñ escrevo sempre bué bem xD)
ReplyDeletePersonally
ReplyDeleteas a business decision:
The Selection: cash in on Hunger Games
Gossip Girl : special short final season for network's brand show
and either Nikita and Hart of Dixie depending of whether i want a medical night with first Cut and how good Nikita's international numbers are
They would probably move Arrow after TVD and move TSC at 8p before SPN if they did keep TSC
ReplyDeleteI LOVE The Secret Circle! I hope it gets renewed for many years more.
ReplyDeleteNIKITA DAMN IT NIKITA MUST WIN!!
ReplyDelete
