The A&E drama series Longmire, based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, is a contemporary crime thriller set in Big Sky country. Walt Longmire (Australian actor Robert Taylor) is the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, who buries the pain of losing his wife behind a brave face and dry wit. With the help of Victoria “Vic” Moretti (Katee Sackhoff), a female deputy new to the department, Longmire becomes reinvigorated about his job and committed to running for re-election, as he rebuilds his personal and professional life.

  1.  Katee Sackhoff, can't stand her! So glad she didn't get the role, would've ruined the show for me personally.

  2. Even though I don't really "like" Jennifer Morrison, Sackhoff would have been worse. And she is not "fairytale pretty" enough.

  3. You're right on the "not fairy tale pretty" part but I do think she would have handled the badass/hardass aspects of Emma better than JM... and this from someone who isn't a huge KS fan (I honestly don't get her appeal at all) but I know she can play "tough" better than JM so...

  4. Well I really liked Sackoff's "Starbuck", but I wouldn't have liked her in this role. I think it would have changed the tone of the series, because Jennifer Morrison has something well balanced in her persona, where because of the well knowness of "Starbuck" would come with the stigma of making the character too masculine, aggressive, or secretive, instead of blind innocence/denial which IMO Morrison really conveyed well.

I disagree with everyone who says Sackoff not fairy tale material! Battlestar is/was an epic fantasy like Once, just usually more set in space and has deeper military and/or political themes. --But I think she would make a sweet Fairy Tale character...one who could be a great fighter! -Like Robin Hood (the female version) -I  think I would like that. I hope Epsenson has some pull and maybe we could see her sometime.

PS: I wouldn't mind seeing James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Jamie Bamber, James Olmos, Mark Shephard, or Michelle Forbes guest star either :p

  5. Jennifer is great, but I LOVE Katee. That would have been awesome.

  6. Loved KS in BSG and she was the best bit for me in the bad reboot of the bionic woman series, but didn't care for her in 24.. I could see her pulling off the badass parts of Emma's character a bit better than JM, but not so sure she can pull off the tender caring sides of the character as well as JM has. It would've been interesting to see her take on the character, but feel that JM has done a great job with it

  7. I agree with you about the tough part of the character. JM is not convincing enough. I really have no idea who would have been a better casting decision, and I don't mean between KS and JM, but in general. Who do you think would be the perfect casting?

  8. I'm glad she walked away from OUAT. Jen is great as Emma.

  9. Honestly, I don't know.... a Kristen Bell type, maybe? Alona Tal, Lauren Cohan, Katie Cassidy....? Someone in that league.
Maaaaaybe, Summer Glau, but I'll admitt I'm bias, because honestly there is nothing I don't think thay girl can't do.

I will acknowledge what certainly works for JM is that she looks like she could be GG and JD's daughter...

  10. Kristen Bell doesn't seem badass enough and I don't like Lauren Cohan, because I thought she was dreadful on Chuck.

Don't know Alona Tal either, but she seems to fit the character well. I also don't know Katie Cassidy, but she sure is fairytale pretty.

Summer Glau's problem is that she doesn't look anything like GG and JD, though she could pull the role off.

And you are right, JM does look like a very plausible daugher of GG and JD.

I can't think of anyone else either.

  11. Well even though I disagree and think JM did exactly what the character needed to do, (her body type allows her to look young, but yet not too young, so it's convincing that she could also be a mother and additionally I think the season one arc was to have somebody who we were wishy washy about, because her character is meant to be limited), but to think of anyone else...Keri Russell, Elizabeth Mitchell, Even Rachel Wood, or maybe even 3 cast members from Downton Abbey: Jessica Brown Findly, Johanna Froggatt, Rose Leslie, or how about Hayden  Panettiere,....

  12. Keri Russell would have been PERFECT IMO.

I really do hope that JM starts really owning the character in the second season and that she grows on me.

  13. Oh! Kerry Russell! Yes!!!! There ya go! That would have been my dream casting....

  14. Yeah.... that's my only problem with Summer... She could PLAY the part no question!!! She just wouldn't look like their daughter.
