Good, I'm glad. Given NBC's state (not great), a ninth season of The Office just had to happen, so it might as well be with the cast that we've known for years now.
I love Jenna Fisher, I'm glad she's staying. I'm having a hard time with Andy this season in particular (I was never really fond of his character) but the show would be even worse in Ed Helms was leaving.I'm also glad no one has talked about the Dwight spinoff for a while, it means it's dead, which is a relief. The fact that Mindy Kaling's sitcom has been picked up at FOX (which she will write and star in) could mean she would not appear in season 9, and that's quite a bummer. I like Kelly in small doses, like Ryan (and his glances at the camera ^^). B.J Novak will be an executive producer of Mindy's sitcom, btw.Anyway, even if The Office is past its prime (seasons 2 to 5 were the best days of the show, and the last 9 episodes of season 7 were fantastic as well), there is a 0% chance that season 9 will be the final season. With 30 Rock ending, and quite possibly Community as well (after a full 22 to 25-episode fourth season, not a short one, NBC !), the network will never dare to end The Office too. My guess is they will end The Office after its 10th season in May 2014. What could replace The Office at 9pm in September 2014 ? Parks and Recreation season 6 ! With a big amount of promotion and a few tests next Spring (like moving Parks and Rec season 5 from 9:30pm to 9pm for a month), I believe NBC could pull this off.
In a perfect world NBC renews The Office for a 9th and Final Season, gives 30 Rock additional episodes for a proper ending for it's 7th and Final Season. And renews Community & Parks and Recreation for a 4th & 5th Season respectfully.
Um, the Dwight spin-off isn't dead. Paul stepped down as showrunner to help run it, and that's why they're looking for a new one. It's supposed to be mid-season, I heard.
I'm good with that, though I hope it's for a ninth and FINAL season. I think the show has run its course, and I don't know how exciting it'll be if there's no Jim/Dwight stuff to keep the fun going. And I don't need to see BJ Novak back, honestly. I've never been a huge fan of Ryan.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I really hope that when NBC announces season nine, they'll also say it's the final one. I'm not even excited for the finale tonight.
ReplyDeleteRyan could have left the show a few seasons back really and yes it needs to be the final season.
