Thanks to Nuno for the heads up.
During today’s NBC conference call the network’s chairman Bob Greenblatt said that there no decision has been made to end 30 Rock, The Office or Community after the upcoming season. “We haven’t definitively said that on anything yet,” he said. Like 30 Rock, Community was picked up for 13 episodes and is being moved to the Friday 8 PM slot where NBC sent Chuck for its final 13-episode season last fall. The Office was renewed for 22 episodes.

Does this mean that it, in fact, ISN'T 30 Rock's final season? DAMN, this NBC stuff is confusing the crap outta me.
ReplyDeleteSo it appears, but seriously, the ratings are sinking, Alec doesn't even want to be on board anymore, what's the point of dragging the decision?
ReplyDeleteJust let The Office plan one final year of good storylines instead of trying to think of how to prolong it. Same goes for 30 Rock.
ReplyDeleteAnd let Community have a full year so we can see the last year of their Greendale experience!
The Office might come back stronger than ever, even with Carrell, Sabre was a bad story line. They're going back to its roots, Dwight and Angela are back together, Dunder Mifflin is its own entity, Andy and Erin are kinda like Jim and Pam. Hopefully Gabe is gone completely, we might get some better stories.
ReplyDeleteIf you ask me, I would cancel any show where one of the major actors disappear. It's just not the original show anymore. For example, "CSI" is no longer the classical CSI without Grissom and the rest. It's just not. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's just not the same. Even if a show can drag in more money, I don't see the point of leaping for every possible replacement because you *might* get more money. That's milking the money cow for everything its got...
ReplyDeleteAll good points. I'd still rather have a strong final season though. But having David Wallace back will be nice, and I do like Andy/Erin.
ReplyDeleteMeh, I don't mind, I'll watch them all for as long as they go on, but it should be 30 Rock's last year, same with The Office, Community should still have another 3 years at least, need to get to six seasons and a movie :P
ReplyDeleteTell me about it. I'm pretty sure this will be the finale season of 30 Rock
ReplyDeleteIf Alec Baldwin wants the show to end then they should end it. It would be like The Office without Steve Carell. There is a big chunk missing from that show now, it doesn't matter that it's an ensemble.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that The Office and Parks and Recreation have got full season orders, and that the Dwight spin off isn't happening...yet.
When NBC announced half season orders on old shows an picking up new ones, I didn't actually expect to see every old show appear on the schedule at the start of the season. I thought some of them might be mid-season replacements or whatever.
I really hope this is The Office's final season. I'm only in it for Jim/Pam and Dwight/Angela now.
ReplyDeleteI think they want to wait and see how this season performs and if they can get the actors to come back if it performs well. But it would be better if they just give it the "final season" tag so that the writers can work towards an ending.
ReplyDeleteOffice and 30 Rock should end and I see a later update says it will be 30 Rock's last season. Community I'm unsure of I hope it gets a full 22 eps, I love the show to pieces but ending on its fourth year makes sense as its how long their college programme is meant to be
ReplyDeleteI'm relieved to hear that about Community, since I was upset to think that 13 episodes might be all we had left, but I'm hoping that this is it for The Office. It's really been declining, and unless they rebound like crazy next season, I can't see it sticking around much longer.
