WEDDING BELLS WILL RING | Yes, the Barman and Robin will get hitched. And lest you think that’s a huge giveaway, “That wedding day is going to be full of enough other surprises,” Thomas reassures. As the EP previously told TVLine, it won’t be a smooth affair. “There’s going to be twists and turns built into that day,” he teases. As for when the momentous occasion will occur, he’s keeping mum because it would give away too much about the show’s endgame. “There’s a lot of fans that think that’s the end of the show – Ted meets the mother [at the wedding], and that’s the [series] finale,” he explains. However….
THE MOTHER’S DAY MAY COME SOONER THAN EXPECTED | For those hoping to meet the show’s titular momma and fall in love with her alongside Ted, Thomas is leaving the possibility for that option too. “There are people who think it could keep going, and there will be more story after [the wedding day],” he continues. For example, “What are Barney and Robin like married? What happens with that marriage?” But for the time being, Thomas says Season 8 will be about the onetime couple’s journey to “not only getting back together, but deciding to take this enormous leap.”
QUINN WILL BE BACK | Although Thomas can’t say how much or how little we’ll be seeing of Barney’s fiancée next season — perhaps they break up? — he does reveal that Newton, who stars on his and fellow HIMYM EP Carter Bays’ new Fox comedy The Goodwin Games, will appear in the first episode back, which picks up on the same day as the finale. “There’s a lot of great stories to tell just in that one day,” he says. “Episode 2 will leap ahead to September, and we’ll see where everybody is four months later.”

That was six, right? Apparently, Ausiello can't count.
ReplyDeleteUgh at waiting four months for season eight.
let me quote a comment i saw which fits the sucky finale:
ReplyDelete"so pretty much we are at the exact same place we have been the last 3 years."
I can't wait for season 8 now - I'm glad we will get to see how Barney and Robin will end up together - not like season 5 when they got together off screen.
ReplyDeleteThe four month wait is gonna be really hard.
ReplyDeletethe article on tv line is changed to 6
ReplyDeleteMarshall and Lily had a kid, Barney was engaged to a stripper, Ted ran with an ex that would directly take him to the mother three years ago?
ReplyDeletedo we know more about the mother than 3 years ago? no.
ReplyDeleteand how would his ex directly take him to the mother?
We know that Ted meets the mother at Barney and Robin's wedding.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of Barney/Robin but I was SO disappointed by the finale I can't even begin to explain. The jokes, the attempted story-telling devices, all the storylines: it all just felt flat and predictable tome. I remember when the showrunners had a clear, concise vision of where they wanted to go and I think that's gotten lost somewhere in the process. And while somehow they've been able to keep my interest with relationships I knew where going nowhere up till now (when we've known someone Ted was with was not the mother), it's starting to get a little boring/old to me, particularly with Barney and Robin. We've done the whole into-people-the-audience--is-at-least-reasonably-certain-is-going-nowhere-they're-with-other-people-but-we're-still-rooting-for-them-to-get-together thing several times over, I sort of don't want to sit through another entire season of the same thing. Honestly, the whole Quinn thing felt like SUCH a repeat of the whole Nora thing to me already.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that's not to say I don't still very much love HIMYM and want it to last for several more seasons. I just am hoping the creators can continue to keep the show at the high caliber it always has been and I do have faith.
We know where he meets her.
ReplyDeletefinally somebody says the truth here
ReplyDeleteWow considering the show is called HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, thats a lot information in the last 3 seasons right? (irony).
ReplyDeleteRemember the first seasons where had tons of information about the mother?
We got almost no information about her, other than vague teases that led to more vague teases. Like: "She had a yellow umbrella, which Ted found" or "she was in the class that Ted mistakenly thought was his to teach".
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, I get why you'd be frustrated about it, but we've known for quite a while that reveal wasn't going to happen until the series finale. Why be angry and surprised at a finale that was clearly not going for that reveal?
Honestly, at this point, I just don't care about the mother. I'm sure I will care more when it happens, but right now: Meh.
I just loved the little random hints they dropped, every story had a greater purpose and something to do with the mother so I hope you can understand that im upset that it seems that nothing really matters now (this season) about meeting the mother which makes it frustrating to watch
ReplyDeleteWon't Robin get together with 'ugly sweater guy' ? As Ted said "More on him later..."
ReplyDeleteBut I still route for Robin and Barney :)
I always thought Nora would be the mother but there are a few flawes but it's still possible...
-She has dark hair
-She's Robin's friend (she was with Barney a while ago so she'd be invited)
-It was quoted "She smells like rain"
-The first time she was seen she wore yellow
-She jumped to the point with Barney saying she wants kids etc. (like Ted did with Robin)
-She wants marriage and 2 kids and a house somewhere. (Ted still owns the house)
-They haven't officially met, they have sat at the bar together with the gang but never spoken.
-Roomate: "People keep falling in love with her" -Barney, very quickly even though he was a 'bachelor'
-She didnt have to be in college to be in Ted's class, it could be a funny story of how she ended up there.
I want it to be Nora, they're sooooo similar :)
I like that idea :3
ReplyDeletei think robin will have a new love interest before she and barney get married, because in season 6 episode "hopeless", robin talks to someone who happens to be her crush way back but ted quickly jumps in and introduces himself as robin's fiancé and at the end this ep. that guy talks to someone on the phone about how robin has a fiancé and it's over but then future ted says that it wasn't the end of that and that guy didn't show up in s7 so i guess he will in s8
ReplyDeleteBut why would Robin or Barney invite her to their wedding? In the episode where Robin first met her physiciatrist, Robin said she hated Nora, she was extremely jealous of her. Barney and her ended on pretty bad terms, seeing how he left her for Robin while her parents were in the other room.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a long shot, and personally, I never really thought Nora fit.
Victoria is still the biggest possibility though. They met at a wedding, she left him to go to a school in Germany, so it was possible that when she came back she went to another school there, and had Cindy as a roommate. Victoria and Ted had a ton of things in common, too.
However, people have kept bringing up the fact that it could be Barney's half sister, Carly I think her name was? Ted has yet to meet her, and Barney's wedding would be the perfect opportunity for that.
For me, with one season left in the back, it's between Carly and Victoria.
