How I Met Your Mother - Season 7 - Cobie discusses Barney/Robin

Having been in relationships with both Barney and Ted during the course of the show, Robin is currently single and throwing herself into her career. She discovered she was unable to have children midway through the seventh season and, despite not wanting to get married and have kids, the news hit Robin hard.

After more than 150 episodes, Smulders still enjoys playing the independent Robin and was keen to tackle important issues, like the infertility storyline, on the show.

Smulders, who has a three-year-old daughter with Saturday Night Live comedian Taran Killam, says the issue was one she could relate to.

"I have countless friends and family members who are going through similar issues where they can't get pregnant or they have lost a child," she says. "It's very nice to have that for people to watch, relate to and hopefully talk about so they don't feel alone."

With only one more season to go before the TV show wraps, fans are keen to know not only who the infamous mother is, but if Barney and Robin get back together. The coupling proved popular with viewers but the writers have kept her in the dark

"The fans love Robin and Barney together but I don't know. I can't quite say because they don't tell us much," she says.

"But I can say it is a definite possibility. It'll be very hard (when the show finishes) but I know that the writers will end it in a way that is beautiful and that the fans will really love."

  1. Now she's just messing around with us. She probably does know, but can't tell.

Guh, why isn't it May 14th yet? Long wait.

  3. I wonder is Smulders is tired of talking about this over and over again?

  4. I can't say I'd blame her. It's one thing to be appreciative of the success and exposure you get from being part of a particular phenomenon, but I think she could be in danger of being defined by this for the rest of her career.

I don't want to seem cynical or make light what I'm sure was a great opportunity, and I certainly can't speak for Smulders... but this could be her equivalent of Jennifer Aniston's Rachel Green haircut or poor Linda Blair's digestive pyrotechnics and creepy head spin in The Exorcist.
