Of all the shows I love, House is the first where I seem to see the show exactly the same way as the show runner. Every time David Shore (or Hugh Laurie) comments I find myself in adamant agreement although typically I see where a show runner is coming from, but didn't see it that way originally. I suppose that's why I love this show so much and so many others got pissed off since most fans seem enraged by David Shore.
Best of House is House and Wilson friendship, a friendship that is "bent" but not "broken", that feeling that has made us mourn, at least to me than other relationshipin the series. I think we will say goodbye to House, but will always be in our hearts. We did not observe House fans, live House. HUGH LAURIE THANKS FOR COMING TO ARGENTINA, WE HOPE YOU ANDWE LOVE YOU! I can't think of a time when they fundamentally disagreed on a specific point, then again I haven't religiously followed every interview either. Like in these interviews, Shore says he's not as interested in the medical mystery stories as much as the character stories, which I agree with. And Laurie says he finds the ability to solve these complex mysteries satisfying, which I also agree with in a broader sense, but I wouldn't be watching the show if that's all it was. I don't think those are mutually exclusive points. My comment was mostly about Shore anyway because I've never disagreed with Laurie, but Shore has always been dead on how I see it.
I didn't say their opinions were "fundamentally" different, just different, like in these interviews (which I haven't watched, and yet I was right about they having different points of view from what you're saying). Yeah, I can see how you've never disagreed with Laurie. You only don't really care about the whole medical side of the show, including House's actions that should be compromised by his crippled leg, while for Laurie himself it was always very important to make House's disability look as realistic as possible because he thinks it does matter. Please, don't bother to answer me. I won't be here to read it, anyway.
I can choose to respond even if you choose not to read it. Actually, my point was their comments weren't contradictory. Like one person saying they like peanut butter and another saying they enjoy fishing. Different opinions but not necessarily a disagreement, so your argument that I can't agree with both dies right there. Did I ever say his disability shouldn't look as real as possible? Because I seem to remember many debates where I took the side that overall it's realistic, but it's also acceptable that they make concessions to tell a better story either comedically or dramatically, which falls under the description "as real **as possible**." And, by the way, Shore, who said he's not as into the medical side, also noted he thinks the medicine should be as real as possible. When I said I don't care about the medical stoey, I meant the specifics of the case and eventual diagnosis don't interest me as much as the character stuff going on around the medical mystery, but I do think the show is all the more interesting by including as accurate as possible medical cases.
Also he might have spoiled that house will die or maybe he just refer that the show ended He said.. House was and then change to House is.... Don't know if that means something xD watch from 03:54 on Hugh Laurie interview
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteI'm on the same wavelength here! I agree with both Shore and Laurie, even when they often have different opinions about the same thing.

ReplyDeleteI've just watched Hugh Laurie interview. I wish we could have an idea of the questions he seems answer to instead of having a black screen...
