Grimm - Season 2 - James Frain to guest star

Thanks to Bruce_F for the heads up.

While the first season just finished up on "Grimm," it's not too early to get a jump on next year. Zap2it has found out exclusively that James Frain ("True Blood") has been cast as the brother of Captain Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz) on the spooky procedural.

Frain will play Eric Renard in what's being described as a recurring guest star. The character, who doesn't have the greatest relationship with his brother, comes to Portland after a very bad creature makes its way into town. Needless to say, Eric has his own plans, and it looks like Nick (David Giuntoli) is the target.

  1. Don't know Frain, but I'm glad we're getting some background on Renard.

  2. You might remember him as Chess on The Cape.

  3. Thanks. I never watched The Cape, although he does look familiar. And he does resemble Sasha Roiz.

  4. He also starred on True Blood as the vampire Franklin :)

  5. Did you watch 24? He played Paul Raines and on The Tudors he was Thomas Cromwell.

  6. Nice casting. He does look evil. I am very much looking forward to getting to know Renard's family better.

  7. I have to ramp up my TV watching. No, didn't watch 24 either, or The Tudors. Or True Blood. After I make my way through Breaking Bad, I'll grab some more DVD sets.

  8. He was also in the 2002 Count of Monte Cristo.

  9. Oh no! Yet something else I didn't see. I'm going to have to take a month and just watch TV and movie rentals constantly.

  10. SWEET! One of my favourite movies of all time! He plays a very calculated bad guy.

  11. After being on The Cape, I figured James Frain would shy away from taking any NBC jobs especially on a genre show.

  12. I know, right? But The Cape was doomed to fail, it was sooo stupid and over the top for no freaking reason and not to mention it replaced a show that was a million times better. But I love James Frain's slightly creepy face and voice and won't hold The Cape against him. He actually seems like a good casting choice visually for the part and he always seems to play the calculated bad guy.
